Incorrect final cost estimate - customer being bullied into paying for champion error
I filed an issue of concern two weeks ago and contacted the OH office this week, no-one has contacted me yet. I signed a contract on 8 April 2022. Job was to be completed within 10-12 weeks (NLT last week of June). There was no communication after a few inquiries. I called, texted, and emailed different persons on 8 July and after several calls and back and forth learned Champion cancelled the job within the first two weeks of me signing the contract and no-one notified me. The company pulled $8337 from the loan (50%) of total cost and kept it. The sales rep at the time was not happy with the way I was being treated and how he was being blamed for not notifying me and he admitted he didn't want to work for the company anymore. I agreed to allow Champion to make this right if the sales rep stayed on till job was complete. I have learned he is no longer with the company. However, prior to his departure he informed me I would receive a 5% discount and because he estimated the job high for 14 hours it would be less once complete so the cost on the contract is not my final cost. I am now dealing with another sales rep who has been anything but customer service friendly. After several emails and no resolution on final cost, today I requested to cancel this job. While i understand the contract clause for canceling at this point, i also understand that the contract i signed has not been complied with per Champions agreement. I do not believe I should pay 30% for anything that was breached by this company. All i asked for was the 5% and reduced cost base on hours from 14 to 12 for this job. I have email traffic and text messages. But I am very frustrated. Champion drew off the loan inside of 2 weeks of 8 April, canceled the job which voided the contract at that time and never notified me the job couldn't be done; I wanted the job done and now with all the issues with the rep, I want to stop the job/cancel and I am now being told I have to pay 30% of the total job ($5002.50) for my inconvenience? It has been going a few weeks of trying to get Mr. Schrader to adjust the addendum and nothing has changed/adjustment. As soon as I said I wanted to cancel the job, he sent me an email within minutes of what I owe Champion. Again, I have felt bullied this entire process and as a customer I did nothing wrong, Champion did. I had 3 referrals for Champion after my job was completed - at this point I won't recommend anyone use this company.
Desired outcome: Someone contact me to address final cost as agreed to or that I be charged for my inconvenience when Champion made an error and voided the original contract.
Windows
I bought my windows in 1994 they were crap when they were put in and still are. Trying to get service done on my windows this year 2022 is ridiculous no one knows what they are doing. I have had service people at my house 3 times this year to measure my windows because for some reason my window order never gets turned in. The last time service showed up they only replaced one window no other repairs or windows . I started this repair service around april or may now after all the times that service screwed up my windows wont be in for 8 to 10 weeks which puts it cold weather when they are put in. I have had to miss 3 days of work for the service calls each time they came. The service guy that came out the last time replaced one of my panes of glass and did not do it right looks very bad window is not sealed took pics of the window.
Desired outcome: For a service person to come October the 1st that knows what they are doing . Would like the service manager to figure out how to get things ordered correctly.
Company/windows
Signed Contract in July of 2021 - This was a bad deal and I was charged for five windows when I purchased four. Job was supposed to take 12-16 weeks and it took nine months. Cost was $4,725 with half down and when I change one of the slider windows to two double-hung, and I was supposed to receive 50% off on Comfort 365 windows from a letter ad I received in the mail. That didn't happen and was charged $5,765. First,12 weeks go by until I had to contact the company asking where the heck was the measurement guy...he never came out to measure my windows until October. In November, the windows come and the installers tell me all but one window were wrong measurements and they were to be thrown in the compactor. December comes around and the double hung windows are installed one window with trim and the other without. Installers comment how this happens all of the time, so now they tell me! Screens never arrived due to supply disruption and when they did, had to wait for three replacements because each time there was a hole in the screen. Went thru winter with one window with prairie trim and the other without which looked crappy. One double-hung had a crack inside the prairie trim so that had to be replaced. Another window thrown into the compactor because this happens all of the time. Finally, in April, the project was completely done and Champion wanted their money. I fought this because they charged me for five windows and I never received my 50% off from the letter I received in the mail. Overall, this is a bad company to get windows done. I wanted to share what I paid because I believed I would be getting some high quality service with the windows that would be done in the time as stated in the contract. Yes, shame on me that the salesman was using a sales tactic and didn't bother to communicate with me at all when I asked for a breakdown in cost. The installers were the only professionals very truthful of how poorly the company treats customers as they could not provide the cost per window and would not honor my letter that I would get 50% off. yes, I got burned but never again plus I will tell anyone my story and never to trust or buy from Champion windows.
Desired outcome: As of April of 2022, the job is done. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.
Fix the trim, refund my $100.00
On October 6, 2012, I purchased a garden window for my home. After a couple years it started leaking and moisture inside the glass. Called champion and was told it was condensation and there was nothing to do, nature of those windows. January 25,2022, phoned again because we were using bath towels to clean up all the “moisture”on the floor of the window. The receptionist told me I was outside my warranty time and I had to pay $100.00 for them to come out. I asked since I had called before and no one would come I still had to? She said absolutely you have to pay $100.00. Then she repeated it two more times saying do you understand you have to pay $100.00 for us to come out, by this time I was upset and asked her if I needed To go out to the street and pay him before he got in the driveway? She quickly said no just be sure that I pay him.
Appointment was set for February 7, 2022, called on that day rescheduled it for February 23rd. The man came first thing said you owe $100.00 for a service fee, then looked at the window and said it was rotted. He said he would give his report to corporate and they would decide if they were going to replace it, but it could take 6-12 weeks for an answer. In March they called said it would be replaced but it would take up to 17 weeks to get it in.
June 16, they called set appointment for July 7th, on the 7th they called and said they needed to change it to August 3rd. Two men came and installed the window, totally different from what we had, smaller in size, but seemed to be better workmanship. After the men left I went outside to put things back and noticed that the trim around was open, not sealed from elements or bugs. I called again and was told to file a report online I did and got an email stating it will be another 69-90 days before someone can come to take a look at the workmanship. Also, another. $100.00 to come.
I am extremely disappointed in this company, the office employees and their so called warranty, of which I received no new paperwork on this replacement window.
Failure to install windows after one year
I am helping a friend of the family to have windows installed in her townhome. She is 87 years old. We went with Champion based on some reviews, warranty, and a sale going on. We signed a contract with a Dalton O. (no longer with the company) on August 25, 2021 and gave a deposit $4672.00. We were ready to have the windows installed in the spring of 2022 but found out that the wrong bay windows were ordered and would not comply with the townhome restrictions. We have been trying to get some resolution on this issue since then. I have been constantly calling an Allen (local installation manager) who has been taking my calls and relaying my concerns to a Daniel (regional sales director) and Dwayne (Duane?, local sales manager). I have left at least 8 messages with Daniel who has yet to return a call. I have talked a few times with Dwayne. He told me several months ago that we needed to sign a new contract. We have been waiting since around June to have someone contact us to sign a new contract and give us an installation date. Nothing! Our desire now is to get a new contract signed with an agreed upon installation date or the return of our deposit.
Desired outcome: Have windows installed soon at the agreed upon price or the return of the deposit.
Leaking roof, leaking windows, siding coming apart
In Feb 2022, our bathroom ceiling was leaking. Turns out it was our roof. We called and called Champion with no return calls. Went to the Loveland main office and the assured us they would resolve the problem. It’s now August and the roof is still not fixed. Per Champion, we had a roofing company assess the roof. They reported that whoever put on the roof did a poor job and around the area leaking is very dangerous and someone will fall through. In June the windows we bought from Champion are now leaking. Also, the siding cocking is now coming apart and there is hoes in the siding. We were promised good customer service and have received very poor customer service and follow through. Now Mike BaSalt tells us after all these months of stringing us along we have to do a liability claim and promised to get us the paperwork and that was three weeks ago. My roof leaking which damaged my bathroom ceiling, my windows leak, my siding is in bad shape and Champion took my money but won’t fulfill their part has promised to fix and repair their products. Complete window replacement of all windows in our home
We first ordered windows May 2021. The Columbus Ohio field office assured us that windows would be installed in 4 months. We could have went with a Competitor, but we gave them a chance. 3 months in we found out that the Columbus employees were all fired for boosting there sales for bonuses by landing jobs and not filling the orders with the Cincinnati factory. We called numerous times to get the main office giving us the run around for 2 more months. The Cincinnati main office finally told us that out windows were not even ordered. They sent in a corporate group to rectify the issue. The windows finally came 1 year later. The hired a group of contracts that damaged our stucco on our home and Proceeded to tell us they could not fix it. Also damaged out pergola by slamming the into the upper frame. Which they also did not repair. Then the contractor told us that could write us in invoice for the damages they made with some of their friends. Every window that was installed was damaged. They actually forgot to build one of our windows. We filed a formal complaint and and service tech came out view the windows. He concluded that all the windows were damaged and it was COVID that caused the lack of experienced manpower to build a proper window. And all the brand new windows need replaced. It took another 2 months to build our windows. They damaged our home and installed damaged windows. They also lied. Today (June 27, 2022) they were suppose to replace all the windows. Weather is the best it’s been in months. 80 degrees and no sun and no rain. They cancelled installation. I’m writing this to warn all consumers to not buy or have Champion windows and doors put in your home. Being a furniture builder, I understand circumstances arise. You fix all problems when people trust a company to do a job. This was the worst experience and huge out of pocket expense that we had since living here for 20 years. We did not get compensated for the damages or the time off work that accrued during this issue. Reading more about Champion Windows and Doors online. This seems to be the norm. Corporate was almost worse then the field office. They don’t care about the customer. The care about getting g people to commit to windows and padding numbers. This is the worse company that I’ve ever hired by far. I’ve never written a complaint about a company before, but people should be warned that they do not stand behind their product or contractors. Ordered 14 tan windows with half screens,7 half screens short.
On Oct.25,2021we ordered 14 replacement windows with half screens in tan color. on Feb.24,2022windows were installed but seven half screens were missing. Were advise by saleman, mr. Burts that he would order the 7 missing screens. On march 26,2022 mr. burts brought out and installed a Flex Screen on our windows. Mr. burts was advised by my wife and I that this was not what we ordered and payed for. Mr. burts stated he would reorder the seven half screens in tan color. July 2,2022 and no half screens. We are senior citizens and believe we have been taken advantage of because of our age.
Desired outcome: Install our seven tan half screen our refund our money for same.
siding, windows and gutters
champion window company showed up on 3-14-22. removed siding, gutters and door to be replaced with window. Color of my choice. Champion left on 3-28-22. No gutters incomplete siding and plywood in place of a window. Many calls to company to no avail. garage as well as living stratures being flooded as a result of no gutters. colors of my choice was not my option but whatever color they had in stock im now living in a multi colored sided house.im getting disabality from the va and cant afford to hire another contractor. all help is greatly needed.

Lied about custom windows
Back in February 2022 we had a Champion rep come to our home and we purchased awning 5 windows and signed the paperwork and was told 6-18 weeks for custom completion of the awning windows. Did not get any copies of the original paperwork. The rep that was at our home took measurements that day and told us that the windows would be the size that we currently have in our sunroom. A few weeks later a second tech came out for measurements and assured us that out custom windows would be to our current measurements and that would be built and installed in 6-18 weeks. On 05/19/22 champion window installers came to our home and started ripping the current windows out and started installing the new awning windows. After watching the installers, noticed that there was a huge difference in the current size of the original windows compared to the new. The difference had to have 3 2x2 on top and bottom of the windows. By this point the installers and put 3 new awning windows in place a were made to stop. Now 2 original windows are left in disrepair. The installers ruined the frame of both sides of the windows. Broke the siding on the house and silicone the siding to put it back together in 2 places. Called Champion to complain about the window sizes and was told that awning windows are not custom made and only come in one size. Now we are left with and incomplete project and outside repairs to our home. Champion will not return our phone calls or give us our original paperwork. We are told with each conversation that a corporate person will call us back, it's been a month to no avail, and we are having to pay for a product that we did not ask for and not custom size.
Desired outcome: I would like for Champion to fix my home back to its original state and cancel the contract and give us what we paid in so far.

I had an incomplete installation they still owe me a screen from the initial installation in November 2021, I had 2 windows found cracked 2 days after installation, put in request for repair in November. I have another window that crakced in January, put in a request.. NOTHING HAS BEEN FIXED NEVER GOT MISSING SCREEN. have made over 8 calls to customer service. Finally had a tech come to the house, confirmed the damage and took measurements 1 month ago, still have no screen or fixed windows
Do I need to get a lawyer.. I have now been paying on a loan for these windows since June 2021 and you have never fully met your requirements or completed my install. I want a date for install and I want you to actually do it instead of keep giving my request just a lip service.
Desired outcome: Fix my windows and provide the missing product I am paying for or I want a 15% discount for broken windows, failed contract, and all the time and trouble and mental anguish i have had to deal with.
Windows and door
Windows and door contract signed with Champion Windows of Huntsville, 2995 Wall Triana Hwy Suite A6, Huntsville, AL 35824 on or about 6 june 2021. 1st; took over 6 months before windows came in and installation begin... One window had trim improperly installed... Called and related my concern in nov 2021... "not fixed yet"...! Called several times thereafter, "still not fixed"!
Door took longer to arrive and told representative "I understood because of covid" because that was "a valid issue"! The door "finally came in" though it took "much longer than your representative said"! The door was "installed incorrectly/backward" and I was not "even given the courtesy" before installation that the door delivered "was going to be hung"backwards/on a different side"than the original door!
Finally... Though"i've contacted reps many times requesting updates, etc."I have received few if"any"updates and/or calls!"I have hired an attorney... Tired of the bs... And failure to abide by contract and the general dismissal of my concerns, requests for updates plus having to make "repeated" phone calls... With many gone unanswered"!

In Aug 2021 I sent a email addressing these items. Later on in the fall I called customer service about this problem said I was on the list. On Mar 24,2022 and Mar 30,2022 I called again. I have not received a response from anyone when this will be checked out and fixed. We feel that we have been way pass patience concerning this problem. We paid good money for this room and want the problem taken care of.
Desired outcome: We want the door to lock and the realign so it lock and handle replace on it.

My retired parents had two large windows (+warranty) installed in June 2020 costing $4,650.00. A technician came out to inspect the work in October and stated the wrong pins had been installed for the window hand cranks and that's the reason why the windows were'nt opening. He said he would order the correct pins/crank handles and someone would come back to install them. My parents never heard back from them so my brother started calling them but was told on several occasions the part was taking longer than expected due to Covid. I started calling them in October 2021. The 1st customer service member I spoke to was named Michael and he was very nice, understanding, apologetic, and transferred me to the woman who was in charge of this issue. She told me that she had been calling and leaving messages to get an install date for this repair but never heard back from us. I told her to call my personal cell from now on. I also informed her my parents had a damaged window that needed to be replaced as well. She assured me the technician would measure that window for replacement when he was on-site to replace the pins/crank handles on 10/28/21. Both my brother and parents later informed me they never got any such calls or messages. The technician came that date but did not replace the pins/crank handles or even measure the broken window. He informed my parents he had the wrong parts and the correct ones would need to be ordered. I called them the following Monday and this time spoke to a Dan in customer service. He was very abrupt with me and informed me that parts would take up to 15 weeks to come in and they would call me to schedule when it was finally here. Over 15 weeks have past, and still no call. I am afraid they will never come back for the necessary repairs and my parents will have to spend more money to find someone else to repair these windows so they can actually use them.
Desired outcome: Re-install correct pins in window hand cranks, measure broken window, and replace broken window no charge according to the limited lifetime warranty they paid for.

Champion built my sunroom 4yrs ago and I'm very satisfied with it. I have experienced issues with the slide door handle — it is broken and I am not able to lock the door. I called Champion many times since mid Dec21. I have also made several requests for service on line with no response. I spoke with some one in sales and also had a sales person visit me (to provide quote for expansion of my sunroom) and I shared my concerns with him — he assure me he would have someone contact me. I am appalled that I can get a response for sales, but not services. I am a single female living alone with an unsecured entrance into my home and Champion will only respond to me if they can sale a product-no concern for my safety.

Missing window sash and all screens
Ordered windows in July 2021. Windows arrived and were installed in October. Missing one window sash and all screens. I have made numerous calls to Manager (Jack) and no response. I called his boss, Andrew, but there was no response. And I was promised a phone call regarding a timeline when the project would be completed within 2 days. I've left many messages over the last 6 months. Jasmine in CS was the only person we have actually spoken to. This is horrible communication. I really would like to have the missing sash and all the screens before I die. Please. Or a phone call. Or a major refund. Something.

Windows and siding
We had siding and windows installed in 2018, we are now doing additional work to our house and have some issues that champion refuses to address and is now charging us a $99 fee to come out and look at their crappy work.
1. One window is noticible crooked.
2. A vent was put in upside down and water ran into our house and ruined my bathroom ceiling.
3. We now know that they didn’t put a header above a window on a load bearing wall.
4. The siding is not the siding the salesman sold us and it has no insulation, it was placed over our old rotting siding and it wasn’t sealed so the exterior walls have become a breeding ground for roaches.
We paid a lot of money for terrible subcontractors to do work that is not only subpar but in some cases is not up to code.
Desired outcome: We want our house fixed or our money back so that we can resolve the issues ourselves.
Window installation
We had windows installed in our home in September 2016. We had issues with the installation and some items were addressed. We was not aware of other issues until we had a company come out to wash our windows. It seems that several windows was not installed properly and that there were big gaps at the top on both sides of the framework.
We contacted the Salt Lake office to have someone come out to look at the issue. When they arrived they said that that was normal. I am not a professional installer so I let it go only to later learning that the windows were not the right size. This created other issues with the outside trim work which does not fit properly.
I have tried contacting Gary at Champion many times and not getting any response or assistance from anybody. This has been the worst experience in my life. I have documentation of the many times I called or text this company with no response or someone saying they will be out but nothing has been done.
This has been going on for over six years. No one seems to care or worry about consequences. This has led me to believe that a lawyer maybe required.
Desired outcome: Replace the seven windows that are the wrong fit, fix the outside trim on the windows (front & back) that need it. I have photos to share if needed. [protected]@msn.com

Champion breached the contract by not applying for a permit.
6/28/21 contract signed. 6/30/21 Finance Co. forwarded $6375 which is 50% of the job to Champion. Installation start date 18-20 weeks from contract date or the date which permit is obtained, has never occurred. You can never get a permit if you don't apply. I disputed with the Finance Co. and they called Champion on Nov 10, 2021. Champion finally filed on Dec 14 and City denied permit on 12/21/21. City asked for them to come to a face to face meeting. Champion ignored the City. I called Finance company again asking for help to get my refund. Champion agreed to meet with City on 1/28/22. In the interim they sent me papers (application for Variance) altering the deck size. I told them the City states there must be a meeting before Variance Application could be submitted. I refused to sign, they altered the deck size. Meeting was useless. Salesman did not come prepared and did not even know the size of my deck. Again, I asked for a refund of 100% based on the fact that they did not obtain a Permit from the City. They are still holding my money. Champions was so slothful that they allowed the Purchasing Window with the finance company to close on Dec 25 2021 without obtaining a permit. At this point they cannot get any more funds from the Financing Co. until job is complete, I have to approve. Communication is horrible. I email Finance company cause Champion will not call me back. Owner needs to be investigated. Communication is almost nonexistent. Turnover is extremely high. Today is Sunday, Feb 6 2022 and I am angry with no deck. I had to cancel by Album Pre-Release Party/ Business Reception because I have no deck. I lost sponsors for my album. My deck is detaching from the house. Nails are exposed and pieces of the lumber have fallen off. Salesman wrote the contract for a larger size 10x17 because this is the smallest acceptable size for a sun room, he stated. They would build the deck in 2021, and when I was ready with more funds, they would come back and enclose years later. I have been defrauded. I explained up front that money was an issue and my budget could not accommodate anything above the contract price of $12,750 for the deck. Champion agreed to get the permit and other things needed to get the deck completed. I am an older homeowner. As I have observed from talking to others, Champion is overselling its services when they know they have no stable workers to do the jobs. They just want customers to cancel so they can keep 30% of the contract price. This practice is unethical and should be illegal. The Attorney General needs to get involved and protect the homeowners from this scandalous company.
Desired outcome: I want my 100% refund and interest. I want them to stop emailing me advertising( U.S. mail too) when they cannot even email me about my concerns. U.S. postal service. Last, I want an apology from the Owner of the company.
Sun room addition
I have moved into a home with Champion sun room addition. I moved from next door and am friends of the people who moved out. They gave me the Champion contacts for ongoing warranty work and at first they were reasonable responsive. After a few calls I would get a call back and they have been here three times in past 5 months. Each time they replace and or address one or two of the agreed upon issues, leaving the rest as still waiting on parts. Those parts are glass for windows and doors. It has been over a month since someone was here last and I am trying to reach someone for an update on "parts" and perhaps schedule another date for when someone could come back out. I have called "the contact" (scheduler for service in my area) four times, I have emailed her and after no response yesterday call the corporate sales number and left a voice message to have someone please call me. Just now I called the corporate warranty number (from their web page), it just hangs up after a few rings.
