way. The Cleveland Water Department is okay, but their customer service needs improvement. I had a problem with my bill and it took a long time to get through to someone who could help me. When I finally did, they were able to resolve the issue, but it was frustrating to have to wait so long. Overall, the water quality is good and the prices are reasonable, but the customer service could use some work.

On 12/5 the hotel's water was turned off due to a sub-contractor working on the water valves with no notification nor knowledge about their job. The third party sub-contractor worked on the valves, turned the water off, left the water off and left for the day. No one on property or City of Cleveland Division of water knew what was going on. We had to continue to call so City of Cleveland Water would investigate. When City of Cleveland Water figured out what the situation was, we've already lost groups that were in house and money refunded to upset guests. This need to be rectify ASAP.

I sold my house in Cleveland in December. The title was filed and transferred in January. I cannot get the water department to send me a final paid in full bill! I have called four times! In the meantime i did pay my portion of the bill and they are now billing me for the new owner. This is absurd.

Switched the name on the utility bill without notification of owner on a home that does not have a water meter, or any plumbing. This home was never occupied. Five months later sent a delinquency bill for the water that was never used by me. Spoke with the water department directly, and they are refusing to adjust bill to me as a new owner. The house has no gutters.

City of Cleveland Division of Water After moving to the area I made my payment over the phone for my first water bill with the city of Cleveland water

After moving to the area I made my payment over the phone for my first water bill with the city of Cleveland water. The amount was for $9.20, I made it using my checking account. I gave the employee my bank account and routing number over the phone for direct payment. A few days ago I received a letter in the mail stating I gave them the wrong account number and they were charging me a $34 fee for the returned electronic check. I called them and they said it was my fault it did not go through and that I had to pay the fee when in fact it was their employees fault for messing up my account number that I gave to them. I would like the fee credited back to me since this was not my error. My Cleveland water account number is ***. Thank you very much for your time.

They are charging me $20,000 for a water bill from 2017 or earlier. It was thousands lowered and settled then it jumped this amount in a house that has been vacant. A rep admitted it an an error and that she saw the notes that the house was vacant stating, "its impossible to be this much. This is an error." I asked for a review. No one has contacted me. They put a lien on me.

On 07/09, at 1 pm, I called the emergency hotline as I needed my water shut off as the main water line with the main shut off valve was pouring into my basement. They said they will call me when they are on their way. I called them again at 5 pm. 7 pm and 9 pm. In my final call I was told the crew called the WRONG number for me and I did not answer. They entered the wrong number even tough their caller ID showed my correct number. They said they were there at 8:22 pm and they could not shut it off and they were planning on getting it dug up on Monday. Now, who is going to be paying for all the damage to my basement floors and my walls and all the tenant belongings that are getting soaked? Isn't bad enough that they were going to charge me $44.50 for them to come out? Don't they charge us monthly service charge already? were is that money going? This is ludicrous.

The city of Cleveland has astronomical costs for water and sewage, at least that is the case in zip codes where primarily black people live. And they do A LOT funky, shady stuff with the water and sewage bills that is designed to steal property from black landowners. I bought an investment property in Cleveland Ohio, where I lived for JUST ONE MONTH in August. Yet, the City of Cleveland keeps charging me for water and sewage bills that were run up by my tenants even though my tenant ***, went OUT OF HER WAY to assume responsibility for the bill! (As was a part of her lease agreement. Despite this fact, the City of Cleveland KEEPS sending ME ASTRONOMICAL BILLS for water and sewage. City of Cleveland Division of Water On July 22nd the home I owned sold and closed on that day

On July 22nd the home I owned sold and closed on that day. I have asked the Cleveland Water Department to send me the final statement so I can close the escrow account. When speaking to account rep, the say I do not owe anything and a final bill is not needed. But I could be sent a final statement to provide to escrow company. After 7 calls and 4 electronic requests to have that statement sent to me by email or snail mail, I have not received anything from them. It has now been 3 months since I 1st contacted them for this. I've asked the person on the phone if they could transfer my call to a manager or supervisor to escalate the call. They replied they could not do that. I've read and heard that this is a known issue with this utility department. Is there anything that can be done so I can receive my final statement from the billing department? Any help would be appreciated

Prior to April , our monthly water bill has always been under $20; however our April 23 water bill is $1,068.70 and our sewage bill $1,860.23. I called the water company twice (and talked to 2 different agents) for an explanation and both said our house has a leak somewhere and that's why the reading was high. I explained that we had a plumber to check the pipes inside the house for leaks and they found none; I also had American Leak Detection company to check for leaks outside the house and they found none (I have invoices for both to prove). Both agents said that new wireless water meter is never wrong and I had to pay the bills; I paid them since I was afraid that they would cut off the water to the house (our daughter is the only one living there). We don't expect any refund, but I just feel that the company would be compassionate toward its customer during this challenging period.

City of Cleveland Division of Water I called Cleveland Water and Sewer company on June 15 and spoke with Racquel about 2 payments I made that were not showing on my bank

I called Cleveland Water and Sewer company on June 15 and spoke with Racquel about 2 payments I made that were not showing on my bank account. Raquel told me that the payments went through on her end. I specifically asked if there is any way the payments would have been reversed and she told me the only way was if the funds were not in my bank account (the funds were in my account). I received a letter since saying my payments did not go through and I was charged $68 in return fees. Given that I was given incorrect information, I would like to have those fees reversed from my account. I spoke with the supervisor, Racqel, on June 28 and she told me she listened to the call and there was no mention of me being told that the only way the payments would be reversed was if the funds weren't in my account. So somehow that part of the conversation magically disappeared. I need help in resolving this matter as the odds are clearly stacked against me. Thank you

City of Cleveland Division of Water I sold my home and canceled my water bill

I sold my home and canceled my water bill. I had a credit balance. I have called 3 times, since June 20th when my home transferred online, as per the city's policy, they must see the transfer online. The city water department has not closed my billing. I am still getting billed for water, and my credit balance has still not been mailed back to me. I am not paying water for a property I do not own. This is the second time this year I have to call several times to close my account and get my refund. In april I sold my townhouse, Cleveland water asked me to prove that the credit balance was my money. The money I sent from my online bill pay service for 9 years, now I had to prive with a tracer number from my bank that it was my money. After selling my home, again Cleveland water is making it impossible to get my refund of the credit balance I have $184.60 credit for water, $58 credit for sewer. I have called several times. Each call i get a different story. Refund my money, you crooks.

City of Cleveland Division of Water We had a leaky toilet at our address and needed Cleveland Water to shut off the main

We had a leaky toilet at our address and needed Cleveland Water to shut off the main. Cleveland Water came out to our address at ***. to shut off the main in early September and broke the line so the water could not be shut off. The did not get back out to our address to repair the line and subsequently shut off the main until the end of September. As a result of the incident, our water, sewer, and local sewer bills were adversely affected. I contacted Cleveland Water to rectify the situation, and after several weeks was put in touch with ***. Mr. investigated the matter and determined that Cleveland Water was responsible for the large bills we received for each utility for the period beginning September 3 and ending September 27. He informed me the accounts would be credited, but would take some time before that occurred. This was in mid-October. I waited two weeks and called Mr. on November 4 when the bills still had not been adjusted. He returned my call on the 7th of November and stated he had just finally received authorization to make the necessary adjustments to each bill and that the issue would be resolved shortly. On December 4th, after another month had passed without any adjustment, I called Mr. again and left a message. As of December 11 I have not received a call back and all balances on each account remain unchanged.

City of Cleveland Division of Water I have consistently had a water bill with usage 2.0 or under for years and years

I have consistently had a water bill with usage 2.0 or under for years and years. My September bill came in with a usage of 8.4. We are two people living in a house without a swimming pool. We had not plumbing work done during that time that would have caused this problem. The following month the water bill dropped back down to 1.0 usage. I repeat no work was done at my home involving water. We contacted the water company and they sent someone out to look at the meter. We waited several weeks and called but the water company employee said the meter was right we owed the money. I waited fuming and asked for someone else to come out. They did a head scratch and said they would send the information back to the water company. We waited again for a report. We were finally called back by a woman who said she would get back to us. To go from an avg. of less than 1.0 to a one month of 8.4 and then to return to o.6 the next month is more than suspicious. February's bill was $55.72 credit. Why? Don't know, no explanation. This month the bill was $24.08.The person that most recently spoke to my husband said that IF we told HIM that we had had work done with the plumbing at that time he would cut the bill in half. First of all that would be a lie. So he is asking us to lie? The bill was $685.67. The sewer bill was $67.60. That doesn't make sense either. The most recent person told my husband it was a catch up bill because they don't read the meter monthly. Well, our bills go actual, estimate, actual, estimate so according to what they put on the bill the meter is being read bi-monthly. Then the man said there were trees in the way. Isn't this new mystical meter able to be read by a passing vehicle, drone, etc. They do not need to get up against the house? THIS IS ALL SUCH PHOOEY. Can you help me?

City of Cleveland Division of Water I am filing this complaint due to the outrageous water/sewer bills that I'm receiving

I am filing this complaint due to the outrageous water/sewer bills that I'm receiving. I don't mind paying my bills but I want to billed correctly and not overcharged. I have called several times to complain about these outrageous bills, My water and sewer bills combined (i now receive two separate bills monthly) is anywhere from $2200.00-$2600.00 annually. This is crazy. My total bill for Sewer in 2020 from Jan-Oct 2020 Totals $1444.24, This is just my sewer bill, My water bill for Jan-Oct 2020 is $773.29 so the total for water/sewer thus far is a total of $2217.53 and I still have two more bills for each. So when it all said and done My water/sewer bill will be appx. $2600.00 for 2020, There is no excuse for bills this high. I see several water disputes of people on TV different news channels and news articles and lawsuits that the water company is charging certain customers outrageous amounts. If this many people are complaining this should tell someone something serious is going on with the water company. I'm hoping this can be resolved please. I'm going to escalate it until it is resolved. I have been disputing these bills for month/years ,my bill go down for maybe a month or two then back to outrageous billing. I'm not going to give up, this is not right for a company to take advantage of people like this. The reps are programmed to say you may have a leak , I can assure you I have no leaks nor have I ever had any, I had a plumber come out a few times and no leak has ever been found. These bills are outrageous my bills total for water and sewer should not exceed $400-$500/yearly. I actually talked to few of my neighbors who were kind enough to show me there water & sewer bills and there bills are about $300-500/yr for both water and sewer. and one of them is a two family and they have several people living there. I only have two people living in my household. I'm aware that everyone water bill differ but when my bills are over $1800.00 -$2100.00 a year MORE something is seriously wrong. My family members and even my family Doctor shared theirs bill with me because they can't believe how high my bills are. Again their bills average about $400/yr. I just want to get this issue resolved. I also have to mention my water/sewer bill for one month Oct was $560.64 (sewer $413.98. water $146.96). This is outrageous and there is no way this company can justify this type of billing for water/sewer. My water bill is higher than my electric and gas bill combined . I hope someone at the water company have a conscious and realize this is insanity and do the right thing. Investigate this and resolve this issue please. I am going to escalate this as high as I can until its resolved ,I'm not going to give up. I'm hoping this get to the right person who can make a difference. Please assist me with getting this resolved, your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated, Thank you in Advance.

About City of Cleveland Division of Water

Screenshot City of Cleveland Division of Water
The City of Cleveland Division of Water is a municipal water utility that provides safe and reliable drinking water to over 1.4 million people in the Greater Cleveland area. The division is responsible for the treatment, distribution, and maintenance of the city's water supply, which is sourced from Lake Erie.

The division operates two water treatment plants, the Garrett A. Morgan Water Treatment Plant and the Division Avenue Water Treatment Plant, which have a combined capacity of 300 million gallons per day. These plants use advanced treatment processes to remove impurities and ensure that the water meets or exceeds all federal and state drinking water standards.

In addition to providing drinking water, the division also manages the city's stormwater and wastewater systems.
