Countrywide Periodicals subscriptions

I subscribed thinking I was going to receive my magazines but they took my payments and i have not received a single magazine and now I want all my money back to me and have my "subscription" cancelled.. help? Because I don't know who I'm supposed to call to get this straightened out. Who do I call and how do I get my money back from this scam? Any suggestions?

Countrywide Periodicals magazine subscription

A few months ago I was told that I would be subscribing to get a discount on popular magazines every month. For a flat rate. But today thursday January 26th, 2017 I recieved a letter from Interstate Recovery Service saying that I owe them $946.36! I immeadiately went to google to begin my research amd that's when I discovered that it was a fraud! Doesn't make sense to me that people do this for a living and think that it is okay to just take advantage of people for $!#&#* magazines. Excuse my language but I am extremely pissed!

Countrywide Periodicals son tried to cancel and was not allowed to now in collection

My son who is 18 was called about subscription to 5 magazines. Of course he thought how cool because he was promised a ipad and never received this. He also only received 1 magazine out of 5. Being he is 18 he really did not understand the whole system of agreeing to this. His bank account was charged and when he saw the charge he did a stop payment as he never realized what the chage was for he thought someone got a hold of his acct. His dept card was changed for this reason. Move forward several months and he now has been contacted by collections. He has no problem paying for the magazines he received but it was only 1 type of magazine ESPN and only for 3 months. Never recieved any others as promised. The collection agency was requiring over 500 dollars from him as they said he agreed to 5 years of the magazine. My son being only 18 and having a disability really did not understand what he was getting into. My son currently is volunteering working at a boy scout camp for the entire summer and unable to deal with this. The collection agency has told him they will take him to court to get the money and now want over 1, 000. What 18 year old has this money he does not have a job and is doing a good deed by volunteering the entire summer at boy scout camp. He even has told the collection agency that he needs to deal with this when he is done volunteering but they said too bad we will take you to court.
i am writing this on his behalf as he is not able to right now and does not have internet at the boy scout camp.
How can this be resolved he would like to pay for the 1 type of magazine received he never received any other than ESPN.
Please advise and he has asked that I speak on his behalf.

Countrywide Periodicals cell phone sales to mentally challenged

My mentally challenged daughter is a victim of countrywide periodicals llc. According to our letters of guardianship, a judge has ruled and protected her from entering into a contract with anyone. She has a cell phone and was contacted by countrywide periodicals' telemarketing. The representative sold her a "savings club" membership for $9.95 a month and subscriptions to six magazines that she does not read for $49.81 a month. Any conversation with her would cause a person to realize that she is not a capable of entering into an intelligent business agreement. She was taken advantage of and the company has stolen $231.04 of her ssi benefits from her bank account. The contract was for 20 months and they were on track to take a total of $1, 195.20 from a girl that reads at a 2nd grade level. I have complained and sent them court documents. They agreed to end the contract but refuse to refund the money they have taken. She has never seen the magazines - she did not know what she had agreed to buy. Her father threw the magazines in the trash when they came in the mail believing they were junk mail and clutter, unaware that countrywide periodicals were withdrawing funds from her limited monthly income. We have no idea what she was supposed to do with the savings club. She is not allowed to save her federal funds. I will attempt to go to the magazines themselves next and complain about the practices of this company that poorly represents them through theft from a child that does not understand.

Countrywide Periodicals Refusal to cancel membership

This company scammed me. When I tried to cancel membership, they too refused to honor my request. They mislead me to believe what I was being asked to join. I did not agree to pay for their service for 30 months @ $33.20. In the conversation with rep., they did not state this fact. This would have been a red flag to me how much money they wanted wanted from me for magazines. I talked to the supervisor and was treated very rudely. Saying I approved for the subscriptions and for the monthly payment. That was my attempt to cancel. I have changed my debit account so they cannot bill through that. I will probably go the same route
that another gentleman used, going on facebook and have everyone on my list "share" this awful company. Will I ever get rid of them and not have to pay for what I did not not approve.

Same prpoblem with countrywide=hamilton, mt magazine company. Threatening collection, despite the fact that i have refused every magazine you sent me asked to stop the late night phone calls.

Subscribed to a magazine with for a wedding magazine and free watch, never got watch, only got one magazine, have been charged 4 times, @ $33.20 each time and they will not let me cancel, will not respond to attempts to contact them.

I had this same issue and now I get tons of phones calls this last one including a voice mail that said if you do not return this call or speak with an attorney soon I wish you a happy life and the law enforcement will be at your door step soon. ?

Countrywide Periodicals Customer service and deceitful practice

Countrywide Periodicals Incorporated is a scam and does NOT practice business. Apparently, Countrywide has no idea how to imitate a practical business. You cannot make this obvious to them due because they've no practice with running an ethical business, they're blinded by their deceitful stances, and furthermore have no idea of other state's statutes that their are trying to appeal to. Countrywide takes a friendly approach to customers at first, however if you decide to cancel an order your perspective will drastically change. If you are given trouble by this company, just take advice that I received...ignore them. Go cancel your credit or debit card information that they have. They will call you every month reminding you that your payments are due, and just remind them that you are not going to pay. That is what happened to me. They couldn't give me customer courtesy and remember for their lives that i wasn't going to pay them.

I'm a victim from this so call scam company as well...they have taken 33.20 out of our acct 2 times...I have never talk to these ppl and never gave them my cc card number...I have GOT to figure out how to stop them from taken money out of our account...can someone help me please!

Countrywide Periodicals have not recieved all the magazines I was told I would recieve

I signed up to recieve magazines from this company. I was supposed to recieve 5 magazines a month and after a year I have recieved 2 a month. After talking to them many times they promised to send an extra 2 a month to make up for the ones I never recieved. After 1 year I am only getting 3 a month now and not the ones I signed up to recieve. I would like to let others know that if you have recently signed up and you are not receiving them stop making payments until you actually recieve them. I stopped payment then after talking it over with there billing and a guy named Kyle I was assured I would get them so I went ahead and paid them off. I am still not receiving them.Don't make the same mistake.

Countrywide Periodicals paid $50 and then they tried to get more

They were suppose to deliver top magazines for $50 never got one magazine, then they started calling us and demanding more money, we called and cancelled by the time that was allowed us to do so, left a recorded message and they said they never received it, of course they would say that, only got 1 item from them in the mail, a paper with their name on it and like $400 more they wanted. They are a total rip off, please no one ever call them to order anything. we tell them when they call please take us to court but they never attempt anything cause they know they are nothing but committing fraud. Haven't heard anything from them in awhile after we told them we were getting our lawyer involved! I don't think we will ever again either after that.

Countrywide Periodicals SCAM

I have just noticed that Countrywide Periodicals has been pulling money out of my old bank account that I do not use anymore. They have put my account into the negatives and I have not signed up for their services. I am extremely upset and whenever I try to call, I cannot get through to anyone. I have put a complaint in through BBB and am waiting for a response. I want my money back! I will not pay for services that I never asked for.

I just called customer service to cancel my subscription and a recording answered said office closed and leave a detailed message, name and phone number, which I did. This the next day after they called me. They lowered the prices, and monthly payments and wouldn't give up. This company pressured me, and they had a lot of my personal information beforehand. CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION NOW AND DO AS WAS PROMISED. I am in the 3day time frame legally to do this.

Countrywide Periodicals Stolen Money

I was contacted by "Jason" a few months ago...offered what sounded like a good deal for several magazine subscriptions. Very freidnly representative coerced me into considering after I expressed no interests. Kept calling me with more offers...I have recieved NO services nor do I want any after researching the companies scamming history. Truly feel used and would appreciate any help if possible.

be careful alot of them subscriptions have automatic renewal clauses which means when they run out you agree to renewal and the charges...id cancel any card you used to buy it, tell them ( the bank) you lost the card, they will send you a new one, good luck

Countrywide Periodicals HUGE SCAM

This pathetic excuse for a magazine company has scammed me twice. As a college undergraduate student I just wanted to try subscribing to a few magazines. Then they went even further to take advantage of the fact that I am a student and conned me into believing that by subscribing with their company that I would have a chance at receiving money that I could use to pay for school. Once I realized that there was no chance whatsoever and realized what they were charging each month, I called the company back and politely requested that they cancel the subscription. Like any other fair and honest magazine company they would have complied. However with this awful of a company they refused even given my valid excuse of not being able to pay the monthly due. This company is truly heinous and they should not be given a chance to even converse with such honest and innocent people as myself and all of the other readers out there. I will be sure to spread the word to others in hopes that this company makes no profit and never sees another dime. I have since cancelled the account they continued to charge in hopes that I am never harassed from them again.

Countrywide Periodicals unwanted transaction

On 5 July 2011 I had an unwanted transaction taken out of my account. The amount taken was $66.41. I did not agree to have this money taken out and i would like to have it back. I don't make enough money to just go throwing it anywhere. I have people to feed and a roof that needs to be paid for and gas so i can get to work and provide money to live. I did not agree to anyone takeing money out of my account and would like to have it back.

Countrywide Periodicals Scam

My husband was scammed he gave these ppl our debit card # and was misled into thinking he was getting 3 yrs of magazines for $66 my debit card has been charged twice in 3 weeks and we have yet to receive any magazines or any type of letter from this company he talked to the company the day aftyer he done it and told time on arecorded conversation that he want to cancel the subscription and they told him he could do so once he receives it in the mail. This has cause my family major heartache and overdrafted my checking and drained my savings . My husband and I are on the verge of a divorce for his stupidity for giving out the card # to begin with.

No he couldn't opt out. You have a F rating by comsumers report so we are not the only ones. Your sales asst. called 15 times in a row in one day while he was at work and not answering to him. Thats fine Our bank said this isnt the first time they have had trouble from your company. Listen to that recorded msg you have you will hear my husband saying he wanted to opt out. You didnt get our money so your scam was stopped on our behalf.

Yeah My husband did the same thing but hey told him that i would be 3 payments of 12 dollars and they pulled out 66 dollars in my account and now he wants to be mad at me when he did something so stupid at first he lied to me and said they knew our card number from the beginning and now he told me he gave them our card number and now we are 66 dollars short he has told me numerous time don't give them ppl your card number over the phone its all a scam well look at what he did oh but he wanted to give me a diamond watch ha ha what ever i bet we don't even get anything in the mail

I guess Im going to stay neutral, even though I too fell into their trap of recieving magazines that I won't ever read, but have them coming to me and they sit in my closet collecting dust. I tried getting getting out of it, but when I called them and told them that I didnt want the subscription they told me that it was to late because they already put my order in and that there was NO WAY to stop it, and im sorry but theres always a way to stop something. Im sorry that this happened to you and your husband, and I hope things work out for the better for you both.

Its not the company's fault. He was explained everything in detail. He was also told that a final call would be recored going over every detail of the order HE had placed. No one forced him to give out his card info. If he didn't agree with terms of the service (which were explained to him before he gave out his card number) then he should have said he wasn't interested. Its annoying to hear people complain about this and that when they themselves got into a situation they could have opted out of.

Countrywide Periodicals Subscription

This magazine company has been harrassing me. I do not want magazines and have not received magazines. They have called me a liar and threatened to call the authorities for harrassment. I have seen many complaints against them and have referred to the Better Business Bureau (they have a rating of F with the BBB). Apparently this company is scamming people and taking their money. When asking if they are scamming people they get extremely defensive. I no longer have the card they had originally billed for these non-existent magazines; therefore they can no longer bill it. However, they continue to contact me and threaten me with legal action. I know that legally one does not have to pay for services that have not been rendered. I want this issued resolved and for this company to quit harrassing me. I owe them nothing.

i have received magnizines however i am receiving very cheep magazines.
I have tried to cancel because i have retired since. I am on a fixed income and cannot afford to continue this service. I was told I could not cancel.
because money has been committed to the magazines I have ordered, however I still need to cancel.

Be Glad you didn't receive the magazine, I did and ended up getting ripped off. I had to stop communication with the company to get anything that was written. They are rude and only want your credit card number or banking information.

Countrywide Periodicals scam / rude

Just recieved a phone call from this business. They tried to sell me magazines at a discounted price - due to them pre ordering the magazines. I came to this website and noticed there were many magazine scams and attempted to cancel my order due to feeling uncomfortable about it. The man on the phone is named dennis bloodgood, his supervisor is doug.

Good ol' dennis then made me aware that he'd already processed my order - he used this analogy - "you wouldn't call pizza hut and cancel your order"- my reply "if I wanted to, yes I would" him-"well you wouldn't wait till it was at your door to cancel it" me - "if I needed to I would, however your product is not at my door" he hung up on me. Then called me back claiming we got disconnected - I guess someone who suffers from that special kind of stupidity needed a minute to re-evaluate our chat.

This is the actual # for those who recieved the same "unavailable" on their caller id - [protected]- they tell you the name is reader service but the actual name is countrywide periodicals inc., and they will also tell you that there is no way to cancel the order - yes they can... Doesn't really matter who you talk to - they are all idiots, but for fun ask for dennis - he frustrates easily. He will tell you that hes the only one there that hold a supervisory position-also not true...

My order has been cancelled.

Countrywide Periodicals Did not say yes or give my card # and they still charged it

We recieved a phone call trying to confirm an order for magazines and we hung up on them. one hour later I was trying to pay a bill and $50.00 was taken from my card. I never authorized this or gave them my card number. I have four kids and have a hard enough time staying above ground as it is.

I was called a couple of years ago. The agent told me I was being given the opportunity to cancel the following year's subscriptions and wanted my credit card number. He continued to press when I told him I had not subscriptions. He still needed my credit card number to cancel, and I told him since I have a subscription then you must already have it. He asked several questions about my location and my card, then asked if It was the card ending in "****." He was correct about the first four digits. At the time, I didn't know the first four are pretty are card type and bank. Regardless, his credibility rose enough for me to give him the number. I didn't think till later, that your companies could be getting your client lists from cyber thieves.

The agent was very well trained to be cunning, evasive, and fast talking-slick. I consider myself a competent communicator and critical thinker, and he still conned me. I replayed the conversation in my head, and wrote out as much as I could remember. I went to the computer, an hour later, and found a pending $54.00 charge on the card, even though I had repeatedly told your hatchet-man, NO! I spent the better part of the next two days on the phone, and finally found a supervisor who cancelled the transactions.

So, you can cut the crap. You know what your company is doing; and I don't call a $500.00 dollar a year subscription to perhaps $200.00 of subscriptions available through the publisher, any kind of a deal.

A couple of months ago your agent called my mother. She is 89, confined to a wheelchair, and in the early stages of dementia. Good for you! You sold her some magazines. I happened to be around, and tried to stop her while she was on the phone getting hooked and landed. Since I try not to go up against her demented belligerence, I gave up. So I am a "wuss."

She is preparing to move into a nursing home. I have told her she lost the bank card she used to pay for this, and will replace it when she gets there. Medicare and Medicaid will be taking all of her income, before they pick up the balance of the cost of care. Try and collect from nothing. If you call me, know that I am aware of the legal parameters of debt collection. Please violate them with me.

By the way I don't use hate. However, I have no use for predators in my back yard. Yours is the sort of predatory company that violates all sense of honor, fair play, integrity, compassion, humanity, and dignity; and to MAG PEDDLER, If, in your hubris, you continue to malign your victims, you can go crawl back in your hole before you harm anyone else.

Well they got my daughter for $77, the first time and $594 the second time. She is young and learning, but they "bullied her" into believing that somehow she authorized something, they had her on recorded session and they would ruin her credit...she hung up but she did not authorize any money, but they got $594 from her. Isn't that awful. I am her mother, and I updated her on scammers, and never do business with anyone on the phone you have not initiated, or can validate it is a lawful business! She got her money back, from the back, but I am sad for those who don't have any resources to let them know what their legal recourse is. Of course, after the fact I asked her, did they ever send you a bill. She said not. They told her she won a watch, and they got her credit card because it was for the shipping and handling and that she also won free magazines. Never been billed, never a change to cancell any miscommunication of goods received or shipped, they are just cons and swindlers. Please do not talk to them...hang up, don't give out any personal information whatsoever!

To the comment above, You make some since but were do you get off as a professional representing Your company bashing anyone and Hater may have not been the word you wonted to use broaden your vocabulary. As the rest of these concerned customers, I am as well a concerned customer just like the majority of these customers I to feel as if I almost got ripped off. I was told by Jason that I was to receive a diamond watch and a free subscription to a number of magazines only having to pay for 3 magazines out of 7 it was worded to me as if the 16 dollars and some change would be taken out once a month. I was on my bank web site and saw were my card was pending $66.41, I did not understand why that much was being taken out so I contacted my bank cancelled my card filed a fraudulent charge to my account. I contacted the number that was on my account for customer service at countrywide periodicals the lady that answered the phone was dawn I told her my problem she told me that they tell you that the full 66.41 will come out from the beginning.
I told her I have a daughter and a wife to take care off on a part time job I would have never agreed to pay 66.41 at a 300 dollar every two weeks job. I cancelled the magazines and I am waiting for the money that is suppose to post back in to my account in 10 days I hope. BUT one question still remains for Mr haters above why do all your customers still have no watch no millions and no magazines. To me everyone of your customers are worst off than they were before you and your company contacted them.

1st of all to all you haters out there we cant get your credit card information without speaking to somebody that answered your phone which we assumed was you because we asked for you. 2nd of all, all you have to do is say no we give you 3 opportunities to say no. And 3rd if somebody other then yourself got your information and gave it to us why would'nt you go after that person. Why don't you people take responsibility for your actions. Instead of blaming everybody else and regards to the person who mentioned the elderly my gramma was 95 years old when she passed and the best time of the month was when her magazines arrived at her front door and she didn't have the means to get to store to buy them so grow up PEOPLE!

My mom is 89, and doesn't read much. Even when she does, she pretty much only reads one page; because, she forgets what she has read by the time she gets to the bottom of the page and has to start over. In your case, I hope that their is balance in the universe, and that when you realize your Karma, it doesn't hurt too much.

This happened to me too! I did not realize any charges until I got an email from my old bank saying that my account was overdrawn. When I went and looked I saw charges of $66.41. I never authorized these charges and now my account is overdrawn $182. I cannot get a hold of anyone at the company and I cannot afford to pay this every month.

They did almost the same to me. I did not order the books and did not give them my check card #, but for Feb and March my card had been deducted 66.41 for each month. When I finally found the phone number she said I did order them and I would have to pay 66.41 for a year. I immedicately changed all my bank info and got another account but she said that they could still get the money.
What other step can I take to take these people down. Like the guy about I am retired and donot have money for magazines like this.
I made her mad when I told her that she would not get my money, and she kept saying she would too. Her name is Tara and she said that she was the manager and the CEO was never there. Oh, and I have not as of yet received any of the magazines and she said that I ordered them in Jan.

after calling this company again and again, i finally get a hold of a sales representative disclaiming any scam. i'm on unemployment and this company somehow obtained my debit card number for $29.30 for something i didn't authorize or even talk to anybody about. how can somebody access the unemployment division of any state? now i either have to wait and see if they try to take my money or cancel my card and wait another week for a new card and or wait fifteen working days to see if they try to take my money! pissed to say the least!

Countrywide Periodicals Magazines

I was about to graduate from high school during my senior year and I was phoned by this company, Countrywide Periodicals. They said that I was going to be entered into a sweepstakes competition with the agreement that I 'tried' out their magazines for $50 a month. I agreed at first, but attempted to cancel a day or two later. I read that you can cancel subscriptions to any other magazine company if you are not satisfied, however, when i tried to they said that I could not do it since I agreed to subscribe. I was stupid enough to say, "Ok." and then tried to move on with my life. I never got a bill, the papers appeared to look different than what real magazine subscribers send for bills, and to top it all off, they said I owed them $697.34 for the full year! A "debt consolidator" called me again and said that she was going to do me a favor and reduce the payment to only $347.72 dollars. I agreed, hoping that maybe this will rid them for good. well, to my knowledge, I have don't know when they will stop asking me for money. I put a stop to the payment after I had given the woman my information, including the routing number of my bank, and my checking account number. I know now that I was not supposed to give that kind of information out over the phone. I also gave her my check number, my address, and she already had my number. Her name was Lori Jordan. Once I put a stop to it, I got a letter in the mail saying that I still owed them money. And they apparently don't have spell check because they spelled "immediatly" instead of "immediately"They stated, "Your settlement offer on the account is now in serious jeopardy of being revoked." I fear that they will try to take matters into their own hands and try to take it up with the courts. I am not sure what to do, but currently, I am looking up information and hoping to find a solution to this year long problem.

In addition to the complaint above, I'd like to state that I discovered that this supposed company that was lowering my debt happened to be in conjuction with a bad rep company as well. Behind their lovely address label I found another magazine company that had tried to screw people over. So i am seeking legal action.

I can't believe everybody is going through the same thing and nothing can be done. There has to be a legal way to prove what they are doing. I told them that I was going to sue them, and the woman said that everything was recorded. And that's exactly the point, I can remember very well repeating to the woman "so you'll charge me 66.41 for one month...and that's it, right?" They never told me I had three days to cancel, and I never received anything they promised. I have paid $199.23 and I have received only 4 magazines. I'm going to start researching to find out if we all can get together and stop this scam. I will let you know!

I am going through the same exact thing with this company! They are calling me almost daily because I canceled my card and they are no longer getting their payments. Every time I try to talk to them they "remind" me that I had the 3 day cancellation. When I called in those 3 days I had to leave a voicemail, and ironically, they called back 4 days later! Every single person I talk to is extremely rude!

I JUST got off the phone after an hour speaking with 3 different customer reps. i am such a dummy to fall for their scam. I wasn't able to cancel during their 3 day grace period only because I was laid off and had to move out of my home. And sure enough, the 1 supervisor, 1 rep and 1 head of the department mocked my irresponsibility. Their main argument was that I was given 3 days to cancel, not really considering what happened to me. I tried to reason with the rep, and even told them they have bad service and and they're being rude. The rep that I was speaking to put the phone down, laughed for a good minute, got back on the phone and said "is there anything else i can help you with?" Unbelievable. I wasn't going to hang up but the rep did. The last thing she told me was that I pushed her -- really? I didn't want the subscription anymore after finding out this business was corrupt! So I spoke to the head of customer service and I mentioned my problem and she quickly told me "Oh yea, I heard from everybody" and I said "So you were laughing with her then" and -- I couldn't believe -- she said to me "Yes, I was laughing with her" while laughing on the phone with me! She raised her voice speaking to me and mocked the fact that my reason to cancel was because I lost my job. And even had the audacity to tell me that she expected me to comment on websites saying I wasn't given an option --- even though I never mentioned not being given any. Like the other people have mentioned, I'm going to have to cancel my bank account. I was so stupid to ever give in to this and I've definitely learned a big lesson.

The only way I think you can do is talk to your bank, they normally side with their customers. If anything, cancel your bank account. Good luck and I hope you get rid of this company hassling you.

Im in the same boat but my lovely husband gave them our credit card info so we have no choice but to pay the amount every month we tried to cancel but they would only let us lower our payment to 33.20. This just sucks! While getting ready to do our taxes i found out exactly how much we spent on magazines that we just throw in the trash almost $500! We just found out that we r expecting and what to put that money in savings for the baby...Im going to call them again but it probably wont help. If anyone has any idea how to cancel please let me know.

Countrywide Periodicals Magazine Subscription Scams

I have been the victim of a magazine scam perpetrated by a company calling itself US Magazine Service at P.O. Box 750 in LoLo, Montana 59847 at [protected]. It and several other corporations running magazine subscription scams are run by Jason W. Ellsworth of Hamilton, Mt. I received several magazines, including Esquire from this business, despite the fact that I made it very clear that I did not wish their services and have no interest in sports, cars or soft porn. Without my knowledge, they were billing my bank card. I am a senior citizen on strong medication at the time and these people essentially conned me. I just received another copy of Esquire through this service, despite the fact that I sent the magazine an email, including links, demonstrating that they are affiliating their brands with a corrupt business, one of many created by Jason W. Ellsworth of Hamilton, Mt. Esquire did not answer. I am taking the new issue as an answer. In fact, none of the unwanted magazine answered similar emails.

I am astounded that companies like Hearst would do business with obviously corrupt companies. I searched the web and found that this guy has been doing this for years, and simply opening a new company when people start to get wise to the current one. If I can find this man and his history with a few web searches, I find it hard to believe that they are unaware of just who they are doing business with. I can only assume that this is a sign of desperation. It does seem to me that the magazine business is pretty much doomed, like newspapers, though the process will be slower and a few will survive.

I have made complaints to the relevant Better Business Bureau and am posting warnings to others on Twitter, Facebook, other social media and local Montana forums, just to make things uncomfortable for the gentleman and the people who work for him. I find that I am far from alone. If you do a few web searches of your own, you will see just what I mean. You will also note that the regional BBB rates them with an F given all the court actions and complaints.

Ellsworth who has created a companies--US Magazine Services, DBA Periodicals, Your Magazines and several companies using his initials both in Montana and Florida, where he apparently has a residence as well. The web is jammed with court actions and consumer complaints regarding his businesses.

I have the ability to get the word about the shameful conduct of this person and his businesses to a very wide audience--do not underestimate the power of the web. I hold the magazines doing business with them responsible for their conduct.

It might interest you to know that I got a call from one of the shills at Your Magazines last night, attempting to get me to stop my campaign in exchange for cancelling my account. I told them that I might--when I get a check for the full amount they charged to me.

I can't believe this guy is still doing this. I got scammed by "Countrywide Periodicals" of Hamilton, MT when I was a young college kid back in 2009 or 2010! They gave me the same script about how they are calling on behalf of my credit card because I am a good customer and they want to offer me a reward all I have to do is pay $3.83 a month for a magazine and I get a free watch and I can cancel at any time. yada yada yada. Same thing, then they try charging you $33.33 a month ad infinitum if they can. If you get your bank to stop payment, then they send your account to a debt collection agency.

My mind is absolutely BLOWN that this guy Ellsworth is not only STILL DOING THIS. 12 YEARS LATER. But is also, according to wikipedia, a member of the Montana State Senate?!?! Absolutely insane.

People... the main thing you need to do is LISTEN.. they HAVE TO tell u everything.. all the costs the term of the service and cancellation period..is all gone over in detail and if u dont understand then ask questions...16 dollars a month is pretty cheap for six magazines a month and if u pay ure bill on time ull get a ton of FREE bonus mags as well... the biggest issue is that people dont listen to what there being told and want to blame some one else for there lack of common sense... it's not a bad deal at all but if u dont want magazines dont sign up thinking u can just RIP them off for a free gift and bail on the payments.. how is that fair when they pre pay the service? It's hard to feel bad for people who give there card info out over the phone and not make sure they know exactly what it is... if u make an agreement and enter into a contract, suck it up and pay your bill. They will work with u on it and even give u a discount if u just wanna pay it off. Dont blame the employees for doing their jobs when YOU placed the order. If your not gonna pay it just dont answer your phone. I worked at a call center before and it's the same everywhere u go. People dont listen and call it a scam when it's really just ignorance. Granted it sounds like this companies customer service department is heartless.

This company is all bulls****. I was trying to I contact them after they have called me but the phone number they provided was an automated number. This company is a total ripped off. I paid once but that was it. I cancelled my debit card and also my bank account. I'm just hoping thus company will soon be close down.

I am a victim of this countrywide periodicals. The guy called me that I will be paying $49 for 1 year subscription. Now they billed me $989 ? And I told them to stop sending me because I do not have work and income. But the guy told me its a 60 months subscriptions. The customer has the right to unsubscribe their product. Now they sent me collection letter.They're not courteous people. They did not respect us in the phone, very harsh and disrespectful.Pls. help me this to stop them from sending. I cannot pay because I don't have income.

Same thing happen to me, but I didnt pay $900+. Just cancel your credit card or debit card. And call your bank to file fraud report.

They told me that i signed a contract saying that i wasn't able to cancel my subscription with them. I don't recall signing anything, they signed me up through the phone so i don't have any written proof that i signed any sort of contract. So now they keep calling and harassing me to pay these payments that i haven't paid ever since i got my debit card stolen. All i want to do is just cancel my subscription and have them stop sending me magazines but they continue to send me magazines every month even though i don't pay for them anymore.

Country Wide Periodicals is committing FRAUD when consumers call to cancel their subscriptions and that cancelation is not IMMEDIATELY put into effect. It is covered under the statute of frauds which dictate the types of contracts for which a WRITTEN contract is required for the contract to be binding. Law requires that contracts extending for more than one year, and/or totaling more than $500 in goods or services, be put in writing in order to be a valid, legally binding contract.

Categories covered by the statute

You should learn what kinds of contracts are governed by the statute. There are five categories:

(1) Contracts involving the sale of an interest in land;
(2) contracts the performance of which extends beyond one year;

(3) contracts in which someone assumes responsibility for someone else's debt; that is, promises to be a surety;

(4) promises the consideration for which is getting married;

(5) contracts for the sale of goods worth more than $500.
(6) Certain promises by executors and adminstrators

So, when a a customer calls to cancel a subscription, They are not bound to any contract, recorded over the phone or not, that you offer. Customers must pay only for product they have received up to THE MOMENT OF CANCELLATION. If customers are charged another payment, the company is fraudulently taking money from a consumer.

Someone needs to shut them down.
