I have been with Dish Network for 13 years with cost of the service at $178 per month without one single premium channel. I called to cancel the service 3 times, also my husband called to cancel and ask for return box for receiver. After two weeks I get another bill. I was furious! I called again and a woman rep told me we owe $134. The app said five hundred and some cents, was transferred I’m guessing to try to keep us as a customer, was told theee hundred something and that he could cancel us now…I asked two months prior to be cancelled and was not! We did owe a $178 bill at the time I first asked to be cancelled and for a return box for equipment. We were not under contract anymore and I want these other charges taken off our bill immediately! Dish refuses! We just got the return box(6 weeks later) and I just know they will try to say the didn’t recieve the box. I did keep proof that it was shipped through UPS. What can be done with this shady company? I was also told I would have to pay for shipping equipment back including the dish in my yard! I told rep to send a tech that brought it here to come get it and he said he couldn’t do that. It will be a cold day in hell before I pay to ship this crap back to them after them charging me $10 a month for several years for this mess that should be paid for by now. I will NEVER use them again nor recommend this company to anyone. They are scam artists and terrible company who doesn’t give one damn about loyalty to long time customers! I hope they do try to bill me further I will sue the hell out of them and complain to the FCC about their unscrupulous business practices!
Desired outcome: Take the charges off my bill when I did not have service!
You won’t sue anyone. Contrary to your belief that you weren’t in a contract, you’re always in one. What you mean is you’re no longer in a term commitment, which is completely different. You also agreed(read your service agreement) that you would bear sole responsibility for the return(including cost).
Your $10/month fee wasn’t for the equipment. It was for the service the equipment offered. You haven’t paid a dime towards the equipment. The FCC will tell you the same, but your lawyer will be the one to tell you that you can’t sue them. You, and all customers, have an arbitration clause.
