I would strongly advise AGAINST getting Dish Network.
I upgraded to the Joey 4’s and the Hopper Plus to give me Android access to Apps. IT DIDN’T WORK! Every day I had to reboot the Hopper three and sometimes the Joyce’s. After several technicians came out I followed their advice and went back to the Joey 3’s and removed the box causing all my problems the android Hopper Plus. All the Dish Network technicians told me the Hopper Plus was causing nothing but problems but Dish didn’t give a darn and was not trying to fix it. When I went back to Joey threes because the other crap didn’t WORK, Dish reset my contract to a full 24 months.
Last week Dish went up on my bill to an exorbitant $181. I called and after 30 minutes the sales person said she couldn’t do anything that there were NO PROMOTIONS to reduce my price. I told her I would have to cancel.
I went with Direct Streaming for $55 a month cheaper. I floundd it was hard as hell to cancel service from Dish Network. They are charging me $20 a month To cancel a d calculated the number of months remaining at 22 since they down graded my service to the Joey threes and removed the Hopper plus. I told them I degraded because their Hopper Plus caused massive problems which their technicians identified as a huge headache. The supervisor didn’t give a damn that their equipment didn’t work and refused to reduce the cancelation fee.
In all fairness the contract for 24 months should have started when I upgraded to the Hopper plus and Joey 4’s, not when I down graded to the Joey 3’s and removed their disaster called the Hopper plus.
These guys appear to be going broke and are desperate for money. I frankly consider them con artists and thrives.
I spoke to a contract lawyer and they voided their contract the day they raised my monthly price.
MY STRONG ADVICE IS NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH DIS NETWORK, THEY ARE S BUNCH OF THIEVES AND CROOKS.
Desired outcome: This contract should NEVER HAVE RESET WHEN YOU REPLACED DEFECTIVE.
The way I know you didn’t speak to a contract lawyer. The price is not locked for equipment upgrade commitments. Either that or your lawyer is third rate. You’re welcome to read the actual contracts at Dish.com/legal. I would recommend concentrating on the service agreement. The fee is correct as described. You’re just misunderstood.
PS, tell your lawyer about the arbitration clause that has been upheld twice by the Supreme Court.
My lawyer is very competent having been a partner at Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. (now Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP).
The fact is Dish Networks Hopper plus (the Android box) is a piece of crap, even their own technicians told me to get rid of it so I could stop rebooting three or four times a day every day.
I followed the technicians advice (two of them that came to my home on two different occasions to try to fix the damn thing) and had the Hopper Plus (the Android box that caused the system to freeze causing daily reboots) and the Joey 4’s replaced with Joey 3’s.
Why should my contract be reset for another 24 months when Dish is replacing their DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT. Let me remind you I suffered with that garbage equipment for six months or more and even your own technicians told me Dish wasn’t doing a Damn thing to fix the problems.
I agree to pay the cancellation fee but I think the date should be when I asked for the upgrade to the problematic Hopper Plus Android Box and the Joey 4’s…. Not when I went back to my previous set up because the new set up didn’t work.
Clearly Dish Network are heartless criminals with a cold heart.
My wife and I are in our 70’s and are living on social security so every dollar counts. Again, Dish renewed my contract for another 24 months when I had their NON WORKING EQUIPMENT REPLACED WITH THE OLDER EQUIPMENT. Dish is charging me for 22 months at $20 a month or $440 to cancel their service. Like I said I had the Crap equipment about 6-8 months so Dish is overcharging me $120 to $160 for canceling.
We seniors have a hard enough time paying our medical bills, medicine bills, utility bills, gasoline and food so being overcharged to cancel their service after they raised the monthly bill is just too much.
I will do my best to stop my friends from using Dish Network. I will be posting on my previous employers web page where over 200,000 employees can read my post to NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DISH.
I hope the $120 - $160 you over charged me is worth all the business you will loose because of me.
Great story. Now, again, your lawyer did not tell you what you’re saying they did. For the previous points. This isn’t even subject to opinion.
It’s not heartless. It is following the contract you signed. Also, the Hopper Plus plugs into the Hopper. The Joey 3 works with the Hopper and Hopper plus.
You can stop throwing your age around. Honestly, it means little as this isn’t in response in any way to your age. It’s in response to a contractual obligation that you feel should be skirted based on… feelings. See how well that works out for you.
Clearly Mike you work for Dish and don’t give a damn about fairness or customer rights, you are just another money grabber. I will pray for you.
The fact is I should not be charged for the months I had defective equipment. Dish should not have reset my contract when the equipment that did not work was replaced with the prior generation of equipment that did work.
Interestingly, I don’t. You got that right, just another customer that disagrees with you. Your opinion doesn’t matter as the fact still applies that you already agreed to it. It’s only when you suffer the consequence, you want to change the terms that you voluntarily agreed to. Pray for whatever you desire, however unneeded for me.
