I've been a Dish customer for approximately 14 years. In April of 2022 the DVR stopped working and I contacted Dish. They were unable to repair and said they no longer supplied that unit. They said they would need to replace it with a newer unit. This decision was made by Dish. I asked for a refurbished (same ) unit. Dish stated they no longer had the older units and were replacing them when they stopped working. They sent a technician over who replaced the old receiver with a new DVR. He left after he completed the work and did not ask me to sign anything. He did not share with me that he would be submitting paperwork to create a contract of any sort. Today, Sept 19, 2023 I attempted to cancel my service. My roof is being replaced and the roofers will remove the satellite dish. I was told I had an agreement and would be charged an early termination fee. I knew I did not sign an agreement and asked them to send me a copy. The Dish rep said she did not have access to agreements. Dish raised my rates when they replaced my DVR and have done so on a regular basis. I did not request an upgrade. I did not sign an agreement.
I've read that DISH inserts a 4 digit number on the signature line of a contract and calls this the customer's signature. This is Dish's way of creating a false contract and bypassing a real signature request. This paper work is submitted by the technician. If necessary I will contact the Attorney General for a consult.
Desired outcome: Cancel service. No 'early termination fees', as I did not sign a contract. I want to hear from Dish.
