Even though I declined the featured title I was still charged for it, causing my credit card to be overcharged. When I contacted them they said it was to late for them to cancel, but they were still able to include a return envelope.

what should I do?

We didn't have any trouble ending our participation in the club; standard CD club stuff applies, they try to sneak themselves in on the bills, but really aren't a scam and are easy to get out of.

Ok. So I need to cancel my member ship because I am under 18. My mom has been getting very mad. We haven't bought anything for the commitment thing. And yet we don't want to buy anymore. So please just cancel my account.

either disney movie club, or one of their affiliates signed us up for a fraudulent account
Either Disney Movie Club, or one of their affiliates signed us up for a fraudulent account. We had to cancel our credit card and they removed the charges from our account. But D.M.C. didn’t stop sending us bills and notices for many months (still coming as of today). The credit card company already notified them that it was fraud, but I guess they are ignoring it. In any case, it’s very irritating and they should have just canceled the membership when they were told it was fraud by the credit card bank. And then they should be dealing with whoever supplied them with the bad application or whatever it was since there was obviously some sort of kick back involved with the scam.

wrongful billing
L'm wrongfully billed, l have receipts from payments since february - june2011. They are trying to bill me for dvds returned, dvds never received or ordered by me,
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
We've had similar issues with them sending us movies billing our credit card and telling us if we don't want them its on us to return them. Imagine running a business like this; going in the middle of the night installing new windows in someone's house and then telling them if they don't want them the onus is on them to take them out and return them. In the end we kept the movie as we had to buy 1 more to fulfill our contract with them and I was tired of dealing with them, got some movie I don't think we've ever watched!

disappointed customer
I joined this club to obtain movies for my grandaughter. Placed first order in time for christmas - received nothing by jan. But they had cashed my check! Called them.. They sent my movies to someone else and had all my info incorrect! Finally got movies.. Then ordered more... This order they messed up also and then mailed me an over due notice! Finally ended my commitment, spoke to rep and told them how disappointed I was and to close out this account. I am still getting the "reply or it will be sent"! Fed up - rather go to walmart. Never again!

Disney Movie Club
Is this "club" actually ran or owned by Disney?
fraud
Well I can tell you that my experience with the Disney Movie Club has been just awful. First I ordered my free movies, paying for just shipping of course, at the prodding of my boyfriend because it seemed like a good idea at the time to include some kid friendly movies into our collection for when kids visit. Okay I thought to myself it couldn't hurt, I did the Columbia House Movie thing before and it was fine... oh I have never been so wrong in my life! If I had some sort of time altering apparatus, I would travel back through time to that fateful conversation over brunch with that evil little movie club flyer and have said no way and thrown it in the trash. Since I don't have such an apparatus, my nightmare has been as follows. I go online and order my "Free" movies using my Debit/Credit card, and that was my FIRST mistake. So now somewhere in the bowls of hell, or should I say the Disney Movie Club, is my banking information lying there waiting for them to use it at their leisure for whatever they seem to want to charge to it. I get my first shipment of movies, and am happy with the choices, then the nightmare on Cherry Street begins, which is the street on which I live. I get a colorful email from them stating that I had to respond to my featured selection or they would send them and bill me for it. Okay well I don't really want to pay $50.00 for Bambi and Pinocchio, so I respectfully decline. Oh no I didn't according to them because low and behold a few days later I get a little surprise on my bank statement with an unauthorized charge from the Disney Movie Club. Huh I thought that is weird I didn't order anything, so like a patient person I wait to see what it is that they are sending me because maybe my boyfriend ordered something. A few weeks later I get a package in the mail and my boyfriend asks me what I ordered from them, nothing I say I thought you did. I open the package, and there staring me in the face, yup you guessed it Bambi and Pinocchio, funny I distinctly remember telling them I didn't want those movies, yet here they are and I have paid for them, so I package them up and go to return them and realize that I have to PAY for shipping it back to them after I told them that I didn't want it? OMG what is up with that? So they sit on my kitchen Island neatly packaged with the return label taunting me... I am a busy person so they sit there and sit there and I think well hell I already paid for them and they will fulfill my membership quicker, I could save them and use them as stocking stuffer's for Christmas... So I keep them. Next email comes, respond or we will send you your featured selection of Tangled. Nope don't want that one either, I make my selection of NO and delete the email, a few days go by guess what another charge for $25.00 from you guess it the DMC, now at this point I am starting to get a wee bit frustrated with them and since I don't want to fall back into the "well I already paid for it trap and I don't want to pay to ship them back on my dime" trap again, so I call them in attempts to thwart their evil plan, I had come to the conclusion that was what it was, Maleficent herself was behind this, and next they were going to send me a poison apple. Customer service proceeds to tell me that they already printed a shipping label so they can't cancel it, well I didn't order it so you have to cancel it and besides I never authorized you to charge my bank card, after 15 minutes of getting no where I decide to use my law school education and the court room mode kicked in. I proceeded to tell Miss Customer service that her company has committed fraud by using a card that I only authorized for a ONE time charge without my permission, and yes I thought that one would shut her up and make her come to her senses and see that she could in fact stop a shipment that has not actually GONE anywhere yet, throw the stupid label away... Uh no not a chance, she says well in the fine print it says that we can, okay so I am as guilty as the next person I never read the fine print, I just assume that they will be a respectable company, I mean it's Disney for Christ's sakes right? So to cut this little story short I am still to this day battling the evil DMC with the "Featured Selection" as the starring evil villain. But all is not lost I have only two more movies to buy and I found a monkey wrench to throw into their little evil cog-works, I found where on the site where you can DELETE your account information, oh glorious day. So the latests thing I got in the mail from them after I responded that I didn't want my "Featured Selection" was a bill... huh imaging that, they sent a bill instead of a movie with a nice letter attached to it stating they could not obtain proper authorization for my credit card I provided. Well hello of course you can't because you never had proper authorization in the first place for anything other than the original order... duh. So I can now pick my OWN movies instead of their awful featured selections, and I can do so at my own leisure, or within the alloted time frame that I have to fulfill my membership, I think I will make them wait a good 6 months before they get another dime out of me. Keep sending the letters DMC, they make great birdcage liners :) Bottom line is DON'T join, unless of course you want and enjoy dealing with these kind of people.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have cancelled with Disney movie club several times...they keep sending movies and billing my credit card. I finally called my credit card company and put a "merchant block" on them. I hope this info helps anyone else having this same problem with this company. This is a complete FRAUD! Please warn others to avoid this scam.

You have to cancel the subscription for them to stop sending stuff and if i were you i would continue to check my online account 3 months after i cancelled the subscription to make sure it was cancelled. I used it and had no problems at all with it you just need to read the terms and do what it says to do, they are sneaky if you dont keep up with it but they send you emails and all that to help.
fraudulant charge on cc
I received a fraudulent charge on my CC, never signed up for anything nor have I ever signed up for a club like this, I know how they work. I went through my Visa card fraud protection and they refunded the charge and I thought that I was finished with them but then I received another shipment. This time it had a 920 number that I could actually get a human on the other end. I am frustrated that they did not close the account when they should have and now I have more hassle to go through to close the account. I am wondering if anyone has started a class-action lawsuit for this? It seems like there should be one since there are no other avenues to help consumers and it is our word against theirs. Because many join without understanding the terms the real fraud cases get the same mistreatment. May have to move the family back to Finland if this is the kind of place America is becoming!

not quite sure what to think
OMG- hillarious! Here is my exprience with the Disney movie club. Then you decide either way. I went online & ordered my 2 movies on April 6th. I was looking for an Easter present for my 6 year old daughter. Gave it plenty of time to be shipped by Easter-right? I ordeded Snow White and Alice in Wonderland- the total for the 2 movies + costs was $103.00. I thought well, that was pricey, so I checked again and the Alice in Wonderland was over $60.00 itself (because it was some sort of special edition). So, I thought, pricey, but... I'll pay it cause it will even out (5 free movies, right?) in the end. So I submitted payment, then the order was being processed, but it (the messgae after PAYMENT & DC # was already submitted) said that I could not pick the 5 free movies because an account was already in my name. Weird, I thought... I recieved a confirmation email, but then when I got my bank statement- I had used my debit card and no charge was on there-Disney movie club was not on there. Anyways, so I was under the impression that they dropped it or whatever and went on about my life. Then I got my child support put on the card last Tues. (April 19-)and I had desperately needed it cause I was broke- I had spent every dime BESIDES this 120.00 for csupport which was credited into my account cause I had just started a new job as a make-up artist ($67/hr)and am getting my first paycheck May 1st. Anywasy, I called and checked my account balance- and I had $120.00- csright/- So me and the kids pack up, go to the store, & spend about $100.00 on groceries, Easter baskets and presents, diapers, ect and when we go to check out the girl tells me (after waiting in a long line with a 6 yr old and a screaming 13 month old) my card was declined and the balance on my debit card was $16. and some change. Long story short- the Disnay movie club had FINALLY processed my order and took the 103.00 for the two movies and left me up **** creek. I almost cried- I was so embarassed and now was dead broke in a line with two little ones. I called customer service and they told me they could not cancel the order because there had already been a shipping label created and that there was NO OTHER ACCOUNT in my name- omfg. But they will ship the movies, cancel my account, and send me a label to return them as soon as I get them ( I'm sure if I don't... it'll be curtains-lol) and they have stopped the "hold" payment and the money should be on my card teh beginning of next week (April 25, 2011). Hopefully, this will all work out - they seem to be working with me, but NEVER, NEVER again will I be enticed by a "Disney Deal"-lol! All this drama for a cool Easter present ( she loves ALL Disney movies)- I'll never even get to give her-ha.Thanks!

ships movies I didn't order!!!
Disney Movie Club emailed me today to confirm an order I never even placed! And it's for a movie I wouldn't order in 100 years! I've had trouble with them in the past, too, when they weren't counting my full-priced orders against my membership commitment. If I get this shipment canceled, I simply want to quit the club. I've read too many horror stories on this site to stay a member of DMC.

I AGREE! THIS CLUB HAS JUST G2G!
accused me of not paying, well l did pay, and I have a receipt
Nco financial services - disney movie club has a bad acccountant, they are accusing me of not making a payment, we'll l got news for them, because l did make an early payment of twelve dollars on december 27, 2010. And yes l have a receipt of payment.
I think that was ignorant and uncalled for and l demand a apology from the manager of disney movie club, because l always make payments at the end of each month, also, l'm diabetic, meaning that most of my small pension goes to diabetic supplies, vitamins etc. Iappreciate no further harrasment from them, and l will make a another payment this week.

took money out of my acct without my authorization plz help
pricing
The club seems like a good deal at the outset. If you do the math you're spending just a few dollars for five DVD's, which conceivably could cost you almost $100. The rub is that fulfilling your agreement to buy four more movies within two years does not come cheap. The only way those four DVD's count is if you pay $19.95 or $29.95 (for Blu-Ray) each, plus shipping. The club has sales, but the sale prices won't qualify your purchases toward your agreement. For instance, right now they have DVD's on sale for $19.17. Even the free shipping offers are maddening, because you can only get the discount for full-priced items, and yet everything is on sale so nothing really qualifies. I recently bought "Beauty and the Beast" on Blu-Ray from Amazon for $15 and got free shipping because my order totalled $25. In order for that purchase to count as part of my agreement with Disney Movie Club, I would have had to pay twice as much plus shpping fees. If I bought 9 DVD's from Amazon for $15 each I would pay $135. Four Blu-Ray's would cost about the same from the club if you add shipping. To me, it's a lot easier to buy from another store as opposed to worrying about the contract.
Another thing to watch for is that you must respond to your featured selection every four weeks, or they'll send it automatically. The problem I'm having right now is that I declined the featured selection, but they were having a "special offer" promotion as well, and I didn't realize I had to decline this offer seperately. So they charged my credit card for that, and it's on its way. (The movie is a 2-disc edition of Nick Cage's "Sorcerer's Apprentice"-- hardly something I want to pay $35 for.) I'll be sending it back, but I have to pay postage. My plan right now is to fulfill my purchase agreement ASAP and cancel the membership. This kind of scheme has been around for a long time, and I can't believe I fell for it.
If you have a question or concern on how the Disney Movie Club pricing works; the commitment or any part of your Membership, please give me a call or email me. I would be happy to answer any question you may have. My email is memberadvocate@movieclubinfo.com and my direct phone line is [protected]. I am here to help!

Member No: 4804989 I joined the Disney Movie Club about 2 months ago when I saw an ad for special Disney movie prices. Naturally, after determining it was an official Disney site I joined and paid the price for the introductory movies. With the holidays and travel I neglected to check my email (I rarely check my email anyway) and didn't think anything else...

If you want to speak to someone at the Disney Movie Club call [protected]. Apparently you have to use the number for rotary phone users to actually speak to someone. I just found out that they are sending me a movie that I know that I declined. After not getting anyone at the number on the website [protected]), I figured out that I needed to try the number that they give for rotary phone users. You notice that this is not a toll free call. Anyway, I did get to speak to someone. Now I will have to send the unwanted movie back, and be charged for the S&H, but I will have this account closed. My advice, don't join the club. I have found the movies for less in the stores.

Disney Movie Club
can't cancel easily
This is a wonderful company and we love their movies but their allowed marketing tactics are NOT acceptable. We've been VIP members of the Disney Movie Club for some time. When we started, we received about 1 offer or feature movie of the month. With the holidays approaching we've noticed that we now get a new "Special Offer" almost every other week. One such mailer did not come on time and I was automatically billed this month for a blue-ray title just a week after its notice coming in the mail. I always have the option of returning a title at my cost and waiting for my account to be refunded but the frequency of titles being sent is bothersome at best and is disruptive to our checking account. I've looked at automatically canceling my account but this is not permitted on the web site. They insist you call during business hours to deal with a person on the phone. I want to note that finding this phone number takes a lot of effort to find. Cancelation of an account in good standing is not even in the FAQ or search database on the site. My suspicion is that I will be solicited to and given a polite and passively aggressive "don't go offer" on the phone by a well trained service rep. It's just not worth it any longer. The titles we see being sent to us are not even in our preferred settings or profile. This smells of corporate greed. My account is paid in full and has been in good standing for some time but as I try to perform an amicable and positive discontinuation of services I can not and now I've grown altogether bitter with the Movie Club and how it operates. Disney is a wonderful company and I will continue to welcome their movies and products into my home but it MUST BE ON MY TERMS. ENOUGH MARKETING GREED. I'm frankly surprised this has not warranted a consumer law suite at this point.

I fulfilled my purchase agreement on this account. I then requested three times through their website, and direct email, to cancel this. Three months ago, they told me they cancelled it, but now I am receiving cards in the mail again requesting me to return them or the featured title will automatically be sent to me. It is difficult to reach them by phone as well...wait time can be as long as ten minutes or more. DO NOT EVER SIGN UP FOR THIS! The prices are not that great and it is not worth the hassle.
I've been trying to cancel my membership.I received a letter thar it was canceled. Why am I receiving the cards? Do I have to send them back? Please do not sena any more movies if I dont send the card back

I very nearly ended up in the same position. I am always careful to go online and decline titles as soon as I get the monthly packet in the snail mail. This morning I received a notice by email that my credit card was declined for my latest purchase. WHAT? I hadn't ordered anything and had the confirmation email proving that I had declined the feature title. Luckily, a few weeks ago, I had a problem with another company that I had signed up for a free trial with. They charged my card after I cancelled during the free trial period so I notified the bank and that card was cancelled and I was issued a new card. That was the card that Disney Movie Club had on file so when they tried to charge my card, it was declined. Now that I see that they can't be trusted they will not be getting my new card number.
