Dollar Rent A Car Car hire from Malaga airport

On arrival at the Dollar car rental at Malaga airport we were informed the Opel Zaffira car we had ordered through Do you Spain was not available and a T roc was the car we would have. We were told we would not get 4 people and our luggage in the car so advised to upgrade. We would have got 4 people and our luggage in Zaffira. We had to pay for an upgrade which is appalling. The sales person said it was because we went through a broker rather than direct. We have used the broker with many other rental firms and never had a problem. He then tried to sell un insurance even though we said no on many occasions as we already had insurance he kept saying it wasn't good enough, we had to be very firm and say no we don't want insurance. Then he tried to sell roadside assistance again we explained we had the assistant, and he went on saying it wouldn't be good enough if you brake down you would be left on the road side without a car. Overall very disappointed and annoyed with the service and the way we were treated. I would like to make a formal complaint so this doesn't happen to other people. and we are refunded for the extra cost that should never have happened.

Dollar Rent A Car Unfair refuel charge from dollar car

I returned a rental car from Dollar Rental with a full tank of gas. The car had a half tank when I received it but I did not mind returning it full. A few days later my credit card was charged $38 refueling fee!

I returned the car on time during e-return. Shame on you Hertz/Dollar rental. I was not told to get a gas receipt for proof of gas purchase when I picked up the car... I got the purchase through Hotwire.

Desired outcome: Return.of the $38 refuel charge to my credit card.

Dollar Rent A Car Rental car

I reserved a Dollar Rent a car for April 8 - 12 from Orlando International Airport. Before flying out, I reviewed to verify the car was properly reserved. Upon arrival, I stood in the line for over 1.5 hours waiting to get my car. Finally, a gentleman came out and announced they were completely out of cars for the night and we would need to come back in 3-4 hours (by this time it was 1:30 am). We had no choice - so we checked back in 3 and 4 hours and they still did not have a car for us. We ended up having to use Uber for the trip.

Dollar Rent A Car Unauthorized charges .

When I booked my lease via expedia.com, I didn't add any additional insurance coverage because I don't need it. Prior to picking up the car, I also receive another email from expedia asking if I want to add it. I obviously did not add it.

At the pickup, I was rushed by the agent to upgrade the car for an additional $120 and $60 and I said NO to the agent. He then tried to convince me to do automatic refuelling for the fuels and I said no as it was $9.99 per gallon for $5. The agent appears angry and I was not interested in any of his suggestions.

When I dropped my car off at the airport, I was billed $116.16 for additional insurance ,which I clearly declined from the agent. I contacted dollar rental car agent and no response after they asked for the booking number. The fact that the customer constantly has to deal with this type of suspicious business by rental car is very unacceptable.

Please credit and reimburse the service I do not require or have not accepted. I possess my own insurance, which I told the agent as well as credit card coverage for rental car. Capital one venture cover rental car insurance as well, that's why I refused the coverage.

Desired outcome: Refund and employee and corporate should be aware.

Dollar Rent A Car Car rental

We had this reservation #K0662965371, at IAH, but during the weekend, starting Friday 04/01/2022, more than 12000 flights were cancelled, opur flight, with spirit airlines NK1265, friday leaving Orlando International airport, was among those, and you are not refunding any money or giving the chance on your web site to speak or report any issues, just taking the money away because of your cancellation policy.

We want our money back, because is not our fault that the airline had cancelled flights.

I'd like an answer to my complaint

Dollar Rent A Car Charged for an extra day

I rented a car from Dollar at Tampa Airport on Saturday March 19, 2022 for 3 days. Upon checking out the vehicle at 12:43pm I asked the customer service desk rep what time I had to have the car back on Tuesday before being charged for another day. He looked at the computer screen and said get it back by 2pm. I returned the car at 1:44 on Tuesday March 22nd which was before 2pm and one hour and one minute later than checkout time. They billed my credit card 120.16 for an additional day. After speaking on the phone to a service rep and a supervisor I'm being told tough luck buddy! Do they have a grace period? Do they need to train their employees better so maybe they know the company policy because apparently I was given wrong information? It's not about 120 dollars because thankfully I have the extra money. This is about HORRIBLE customer treatment to a good customer!

Dollar Rent A Car Incorrect charges

We traveled to Orlando to attend a funeral on February 24. We rented the car from 2/24 at the Orlando International Airport and returning the car on 2/27 at the same Airport since our flight was departing to SJU on 2/27 at 5am. I received the total charged and Dollar has charged me an additional day as if the car was delivered on the 2/28 at 4pm. Also there is a charge because we did not return the car at the Boston Logan International Airport.

Can someone explain how was I supposed to return the car to the Boston Logan International airport if my flight was departing from the Orlando International Airport. I called and the Dollar representative said that the charges were legit sine I signed the contract.

If this is the way the Dollar company works to rob money from their clients?

Desired outcome: I want to receive a credit on my card for the incorrect charges.

Dollar Rent A Car Over charged and ridiculous!!

I signed up for an additional driver when I made my reservation. I am a AAA member and dollar is supposed to recognize AAA and not charge for the additional driver but I was charged anyway. I didn't want to buy additional insurance but Cecil said I had to because it was a convertible. So another $270 on top of the $574 I had already paid. I wouldn't believe the rest of this story but I lived it. We were told we could have our pick of the convertibles. The first one was white, we loaded our luggage in. We discovered it had a broken light. The attendant said he'd send someone to fix it. We waited, waited, waited... Finally decided to pick another car. We loaded our bags into a black Camaro although we preferred the Mustang. At that moment a cleaner brought another white mustang. We really wanted a white mustang so we moved our bags to that one. We proceeded to the attendant to exit. When he scanned the car he informed us we couldn't take that car because it had a mechanical issue. We were instructed to return it to the cleaning bay and pick another car. Have lost count yet? This 4th time we selected a black mustang that another couple had decided not to take. Unbeknownst to us, the reason the couple didn't take the car was because the key fob was no where to be found. Our bags were all loaded in this car when we made this discovery. At that point, we had been trying to secure a convertible for 2 hours. I went and found an attendant who found the fob. The other couple that I mentioned earlier had equally as much trouble. When they were loaded and at the exit they were told they couldn't take the silver mustang because it was reserved.

Desired outcome: Reimbursement of overcharge of $270.

Dollar Rent A Car Vehicle Inspection

On January 30, 2022 I returned a vehicle to the Myrtle Beach International Airport (100 Jetport Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC) that had been rented from Dollar Rent-a-Car ("Dollar") on the 27th of that month.

At that time, the vehicle was emptied of its contents, and a walk-through inspection was performed by the Dollar representative who accepted the keys, and receipt of the vehicle. Because I was not allowed to inspect the vehicle before being forced to sign the "Vehicle Inspection Slip" at the time of rental (and noted so on the document), I took pictures of the vehicle in its condition at the time of return, 10:21 AM ET.

I was asked to sign, or provided with a "Vehicle Inspection Slip" at the time of return.

On February 11, 2022 an associate of mine was contacted by Subrogation Management Team, LTD of Los Fresnos, TX claiming that "Dollar" had received the vehicle with damage. As I had declined the rental insurance during my contracted time, they were now claiming I owed $1,077.10 for estimated repair, physical damage, administration fees, and loss of use.

After contacting corporate customer service, I was informed by "Dollar" that my contract was closed and that the return of the vehicle showed no damage listed as my responsibility. This corroborates the condition of the vehicle, as shown in the pictures taken at the time of return, and forwarded to the Subrogation Management Team.

"Dollar" of 1100 Jetport Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC is attempting to extort me for $1,077.10 for damages unrelated to my contractual agreement. Their representative, Subrogation Management Team, has been informed that any further unwanted conduct will result in legal action and the filing of filing civil suit against both parties.

I hope we can resolve this matter without authoritative involvement. I am not under any circumstances, however, waiving any legal rights I have presently, or future legal remedies against either party at this time.

Desired outcome: Dismissal of fraudulent charges

Dollar Rent A Car rental car

Was told I could extend my rental as long as I did it 24hrs before the rental was due to be turned in. The next day I called back (4 days before return), was told I could not extend the rental due to a "corporate directive". Was told I could rent another car but due to the fact that I was 1500miles from rental car pickup location this would defeat the point. I don't like how no one including managers could give me an actual reason why this happened. I will never rental from this company.

Dollar Rent A Car Car rental over charged

On January 7th I had a reservation to pick up a rental from Norfolk International which as booked as a VIP customer from Priceline. The picture of the manager special was SUV's. So, I made the selection, A portion of the rental was paid for leaving only 15.00 to pay at the counter for a 2-day rental. The average cost was $30.00 per day.

The agent debited my credit card for 215.00. When I got downstairs to pick up the car, it was a very small car. I went back to the counter, and they said there were no more other cars available.

They charged my card an additional 47.00 and then charged me 115.00 for the final bill leaving me paying $204.25 which is triple the amount of the original agreement though Priceline. The SUV given costed me in excess of 200.00 in gas which really messed up my credit card usage.

Dollar Rental Car refused to make things right. I was not supposed to be charge an upgrade of the rental.

Good afternoon,
Yesterday December 22nd I rented a car and economy booking website. The rental agreement number is: B71158619
The reason for this correspondence is I am requesting my account be credited back for the charge for a rental car I was not given.

I am in Florida and visiting my son. I inadvertently left my Credit card back home in New York for the trip. Therefore I used my sons debit card to pay online. When I got to the airport to get the car I was told I cannot use his card. I explained I don't have a card it's back in New York. I was rudely refused and told him ma'am I'm trying to help you however was blatantly told nothing he could do. The reason I bring that up is I understand there's rules but it seems like there's a phone call he could have made for me, reached out on my behalf, or something to help me get my money back. I understand there's rules, however, there is nothing specifically saying that somebody else cannot rent a car for you. Bottom line is this I was stranded at the airport, since the Lyft driver just dropped me off of course, a bill on my account and no keys to a car in my hand and told next time read the fine Print.
I called Academy booking and was told I could not have a credit there's nothing she can do. I want online to file a Complaint and was directed to this site. If I am reaching out to the wrong department please advise as soon as possible so I can get this issue resolved.
I was greatly affected by Covid financially. As many others were. In today's world no one has the money to shell out for a car they never got with a company saying oh sorry too bad read the fine print. Why on earth what am I card be charged for something I never received. Please assist and advise.

Dollar Rent A Car Additional charges and rude customer service

I rented the car from Dollar 329 east 22nd street location in Manhattan on Sep 3rd close to 10am. The following is what happened:

The lady sitting behind the counter was aggressively selling car insurance. She was scaring us by saying that if the tires burst we will have to pay for it if we dont buy insurance. We started to wonder if there was anything wrong with the car. I live in manhattan and rent cars all the time. NO company (Herz, Avis, National, enterprise or Budget) has ever tried to sell the insurance this way. They simply ask if I want it and if I refuse we move on
The same lady was also aggressively selling the all inclusive toll. We had mentioned to her that we are taking the car to canada. She said that if we dont take the toll then we will be charged for $15 charge for every toll and so on. This time we were worried about all the extra charges and agreed to take the all inclusive tolls.
15 min into taking the car I realized that I was told the gas tank was full but it wasnt. I was on the highway and didnt make sense to turn back. I took a picture of the gas tank indicator to prove that the agreement was incorrect
Driving to Canada and coming back we realized that there was just one toll and that we are not given the right information. I returned the car on Sep 8 night and spoke to the dollar person on duty that day. He was compassionate with us regarding the toll and insurance and gas and said that he would waive the tolls from our final invoice. I walked away happy that my complaint was addressed
A week or 2 later I got the toll bill for $112. I didnt understand and so called the number. They directed me back to the Dollar location and to ask them to absorb these charges as they had already told me that they would in light of all what had happened
I went back to the Dollar car rental location and met the manager on duty on Sept 29th. The manager's behaviour was unacceptable and rude as he seemed to refuse to believe me and said that NO ONE can say the things that were said to me, instead of listening me out. He kept saying that nothing can be done and I should have come and complaint when I returned the car which I did but since he refused to believe me there was nothing much to go on. He was arguing with me and finally said that he would investigate. He said this to pacify me because its been a month and I have not heard back from him. Another proof of the lies I had to encounter while renting the car with this company
I am writing this complaint to get reimbursement of the extra charges that I have charged on my card. I felt disrespected and insulted by the way I was treated.

I called

[protected], the

number for Dollar car rental

on a Monday, August 8, 2022. After insisting I do not have a major credit card, Matthew said that they'd wave that requirement but I'd need to pass a credit check, 2 forms of ID, a $500 deposit. I called back the next day and made a reservation for August 10, 2022. The woman walked me through the same process, insisting I must have a credit card then giving me the work around. I agreed to the workaround and she made a reservation for me. The next day, the lady at the counter of Dollar at the Reno Airport refused to honor my reservation which she verified was in her system though I met all the requirements explained to me the 2 days prior because they don't take debit cards. So I asked for a supervisor. I spoke to Val. I got the same response. So, I asked for her supervisor. I got the same response from him, John Spacher, the Reno General Manager. I pleaded and reasoned with him for an hour. He had many thoughts, like that he wasn't personally part of the conversation and so wasn't obliged to honor the agreement. In case he doubted my honesty, I offered to make a 3 way call and repeat the process. He declined because it was irrelevant, he said. In his opinion, he's not obliged to honor the arrangements made through the 800 number. I explained that it was good business to honor the agreements that an organization makes with their customers. He pointed out that it says online that one must have a credit card. I explained that because Dollar had mislead me, I was without a vehicle which I needed. He said I could ask a friend to borrow their credit card. I said, fine. Ill have my son call in. He said, he'll have to come into the counter! I said, that he couldn't do that. John Spacher would not give me an option that worked for me by bending even that policy. So, I asked for his supervisor. He texted me later that information stating he would not be back in his office until next week. I called to make a reservation with Hertz through Triple A and she said that 24 hours advance reservations was a requirement. Fortunately, Enterprise was happy to do business with me. They didn't need my birth certificate and only asked for a $200 deposit. When I get a credit card, I plan to still use Enterprise. They were cheerful, professional, and generous. They gave me a free upgrade and though there was three-fourths of a tank of gas, its written that there was one-fourth. What a huge difference!

Dollar Rent A Car Nasty attitude

There is a lady name Regina or Renita at Charlotte Douglas Airport she has a very nasty attitude. If you meet you will know her. She tried to over charge me, when my wife caught the over charge she became rude and nasty. After my wife caught the over charge and the amount was reduced from $477.00 to $200.00 deposit. My wife asked her when we will receive the $200.00 we placed for the rental deposit. Her response "When you bring back my car you get your money back" This lady is very rude and nasty. She has very poor customer service skills.

When I arrived at the Dollar desk at Charlotte Douglas Airport to collect the car, I was serviced by a Renita who was very rude and nasty. She was very persistent in adding as much upgrades and additional packages to my bill. She asked me to sign the rental agreement, although I did not see the charges before signing. Once I receive the receipts, I was shocked because it was $477.00. I had booked a hotel+rental+airflight package with priceline so why do I need to pay an additonal $477.00.

She tried to over charge me, when my wife caught the over charge she became rude and nasty. We asked to speak with her manager, she went into a back room but never came back with a manager. I thought that was very unprofessional. After we were able to reduced the charges from $477.00 to $200.00 deposit. My wife asked her when we will receive the $200.00 we placed for the rental deposit. Her response "When you bring back my car you get your money back" This lady is very rude and nasty. She has very poor customer service skills.

This is absolutely terrible, I feel totally tricked. Was the lady at the desk on commission!

Is this how Dollar gets money by tricking people into signing for something they know nothing about!

Dear Sir /Madam:
I have just received a claim by your company on the alleged damages caused by me to your vehicle. I totally reject your claim that I damaged the vehicle.
I returned the vehicle at 12:17p on July 6, 2021, without any damage which was inspected by your personnel. No issue was raised during the inspection and the vehicle was working fine when I left it with your personnel.
If your rental company believes I caused any damage to the vehicle, please send me the following:
• time-stamped photos that were taken immediately before I drove the car off the lot
• time-stamped photos that were taken immediately after I returned the car
• Record of all rentals for that car between the time I returned it and the date of the damage claim letter
Until the above can be provided I find this claim null.
I look forward to your reply.

There is a lady here at Dallas airport she has a very nasty attitude. If you meet you will know her. She said her name was Bibi . I asked can I go ahead and book online because the car is available she said she will not honor the rental because she says she is going to run out of cars . The customers before she was aggressive to them to she told one of them in a very aggressive manner that he need to be serious about his mask . This lady is nasty .

Dollar Rent A Car Unauthorized charges for cleaning

Dollar is charging me a $400 cleaning charge stating that I smoked in the vehicle and I do not smoke, nor does my 9 year old son. The car smelled like smoke when I got it. I should have complained and got a new vehicle. When I checked the vehicle in, they said everything was fine and they would e-mail the receipt. No mention of any issue, but then got the vehicle damage charge on the receipt. Now I am trying to dispute it and getting the run around from customer service saying that the location noted it and they can't do anything about it, but I can't get a phone number to talk to anyone at the Tampa airport to talk with someone there.
