Offline system
This is the 3rd time we have shopped at Edgars and the system has been offline. You guys are going to lose clients if people realise they cant buy on the account. Whats the point in having an account with you guys if its useless? Fix it!
Account payment muladministration leading to blacklisting
Good day all, I have a huge issue with the Edcon/Edgars/RCS group that I need to address, and hope others will follow suit because it appears that Edgars is now in the business of scamming people, my account fell in arrears sometime in 2020 during the covid19 lockdown period, I received calls from debt collectors ( Brooks & lyt / CSS solution ) on behalf of Edgars and made an arrangement for an amount to R400 from the R886.95 outstanding balance that was outstanding, therefore a day later I proceeded as advised and a minimum of amount R400 was paid on the 14 Jan 2021 and proof of payment was submitted to the debt collector via email & WhatsApp of which the receipt acknowledged, now after I visited the store : Southgate branch to try to pay the remainder balance expected being the difference from the R400 that was paid and to learn that the overdue balance was still reflecting the same R886.95 and I was advised to wait for at least 7 working days to see if the account will be updated once the money was cleared into the Edgars account up until date my account still reflects with the same balance and nobody can account the payment that was made to the debt collectors on behalf of Edgars, I went to the store and I was advised to contact all the parties involved vvm, rcs group, brooks & lyt/css solutions including edcon but I am currently caught in-between turmoil with nobody taking into account of the payment that was made even after Brooks & lyt acknowledged the payment on behalf Edgars has left me to play detective in tracking the payment although there's concrete proof from my bank on where the money was paid to reflecting the full details of the payment to and from including the amount paid but to date I am being sent from pillar to post, it appears that the money has vanished into thin air, I have tried several channels to communicate with the relevant parties to assist in this matter but as usual i receive no feedback nor response on this matter, I am really tired and irate on this matter and all I need is a way forward so that I can pay the remainder balance and close the account, I can be contacted on [protected]

I Bernadette Mthembu would like to lodge a complain about your tellers who are rude. The teller Victoria Codney, rudely told me my signature is not the same, and I told her it will never be the same and she busy repeating infront everyone in the queue as if I stole the cars, she could of easily asked for proof of ID, now she making as if I stole someone else card...I'm very offended by the incident, these cashiers need to have respect for customer because we buying with our own monies.
Desired outcome: Warning and an apology because I did not steal no ones card, it belongs to me.
Want a Paid up letter
I settled my edgars account last year 04/11/2019 as seen on the attached document. Kindly send me a paid up letter that I can use to proof that I've settled. I have tried for years to get letter but nothing till today, been to the shop hundreds of times not one seems to know how to help.

I have been struggling to get a paid up letter for my account for a while, the account has been paid off, the consultant always say they will email the letter but to surprise the is always something blocking that letter to be emailed, they say my account was handed over to MBDC. When I called MBDC they say they don't have my account in their records. Please assist.

I've just recently applied for a new Edgars account with RCS that has been approved. I am struggling to get my card activated because the tellers at the shop informed me that the person who does this is Tshiamo and she has been off sick since the 29th of April 2021until today the 10th of May 2021. they have no idea when she will be back and as a result all those 50% specials one cannot take advantage of as my account is approved but cannot be activated. How is it that only one person can assist us on this matter in such a huge store...I find that completely incompetent and just service that is just beyond unacceptable. Kindly advise a way forward regarding this matter as this is the closest store for me since Edgars Design quarters moved.

airtime subscription fee that i know nothing about
On many occasions i went to multiple edgars stored to enquire about some things that i am being charged on my account which i know nothing about.
My statement has been showing " Cell C airtime subscription fee R78 and Mobile vault backup subs R49.
I went to Brooklyn mall twice, Wonderboom junction once, Centurion mall twice, Menlyn twice, Kollonade once, to request for answers and cancellation of whatever this is.
To date, no resolution. Not even a call from edgars.

Exchange policy not obeyed
I purchased items at Edgars on account last month, When I got home the clothes didn't fit and unfortunately I lost the receipt. Yesterday on the 18-04-2021 I visited an Edgars branch in Pretoria Mams Mall to exchange the clothes. The cashier who assisted me did the exchange but the problem occurred, where the system allowed her to return the items one by one not all at once.
She then called in the manager by the name Lizzy to assist in returning all of the items at once on the system. Lizzy asked me where did I buy the clothes, I told her and she literally refused to assist me, she told that I should go back to the branch where I bought the clothes to make an exchange there. Even though I told her about the Edgars exchange policy, she insisted with an attitude that they can't make exchanges for items bought from other branches if I don't have a receipt. I am an account holder at Edgars and I am very sad/unhappy with the service I received especially from the manager Lizzy. I had to go back home with the clothes I can't even use.
Ill informed staff that costed me money
Last month, I paid my Edgars account upfront, and requested for it to be closed. Let me add some background - previously I went to Edgars in St Georges Mall before they closed down and asked them to remove all extra payments on my account as I was unsure of where my money was going and all the extras listed. This date I do not have as I was unaware that this wasn't updated
Last month, March 25/26, I closed my account and paid it upfront.
This month I've been sent a bill by Edcon/RCS for account plans that they cannot even see on their system as it is being run by Hollard. No one explained this will still be happening. No one even explained about the 30 day cancellation.
The cashier sent me off with the RCS call centre number and said I must check if my account has been closed.
Today, I went back to the Canal Walk branch and after the cashier couldn't help me and was clearly confused, she put me on a call with Edcon. The call centre agent refused to escalate the call after I asked why it was happening.
If I wanted a Hollard plan- I would have gone to Hollard and opened one. Yet I managed to open one through Edcon and they are not taking responsibility for not informing me that my account is not closed, or that there are still plans that I should be paying that I was not informed about on closing my account.
I am disgusted at how people are being ill-informed by Edcon and then also seems to be exploiting people with extra costs they are not aware of.
Edgars staff are clueless about what is happening since the merger. They can't even see the balances on your account when you go pay. They even assumed I was going to join Edgars instead of Jet and gave me an Edgars account without asking me, only for me to find out that I could no longer shop at Jet at the till.
I refused to pay the amount - I have no problem paying it, however, I would like to know why Edgars/Edcon does not inform people of their unclosed accounts and plans with Hollard.
Also, please check your Hello Peter page - you guys are ripping people off by not communicating.

[censored] Boy Watch repair
Good day, I purchased a [censored] Boy watch from Edgars which suddenly stopped working. It was still under guarantee. I took it to Edgars Mall of Africa in early September 2020 for it to be repaired. I have still not received the watch back. I go to the store whenever I get a chance and they give me the same excuse that they have not received the watch back and that they are following up. It is now 8 months later and no one is able to assist me. If it cannot be repaired, they should replace my watch.

Stolen goods
I would consider my goods stolen by Edgar's Chatsworth centre in KZN, I left my purchase in store and requested the manager call me back 3 weeks ago, to date no communication whatsoever. Incompetent staff and acting manageress refused to assist me with a return on defective goods while insulting me and my kids in front of other customers, it's the most despicable treatment I ever received, till now I was a loyal customer for over 25 years. I purchased two pairs of shoes for my kids and inside of a week all 4 shoes opened up at the rear above the heel, if you are selling such an inferior product the least that can be done is to refund the customer, not insult them. Settlement letter and debt written off
I had settled the account already last year February, I went to the store to try and pay then the consultant gave me an account number details to go and pay at the bank directly to the attorney's back account which I did and went back to the store and ask for the account to be closed they said I should give it about 21days for it to update, and I have lost the copy payment receipt a few months later I went to check if it's updated now they saying my account is not showing on their system anymore, I had been rounding in circles, with no luck with the creditor to get a settlement letter and have the debt written off my name, they now can't even provide me with the name of the attorney they had handed over the debt. I tried contacting vvm, nimble group, rcs, Edgar's headoffice, Trans union, ncr with no joy still in getting a settlement letter and have the debt written off, now all I'm asking for is to have a settlement letter and the debt written off my name as I have settled. Closing my account
I have paid up the account and requested to close it but all I get is emails reminding me of how much I can buy and the one with accumulated Charges.

Bought a cellular phone at Edgar's Greenstone on the 20th of January 2021. It was the wrong model and tried to return it today 21 January 2021. It was unopened and untouched. They refused to swap it for the model I wanted as they have activated it according to them. It is not a contract phone but a cash buy. What did they activate? When we spoke to Edgar's in Eastgate, they told us they would send the model we want to Greenstone. Yet, Greenstone refused to exchange the phones! I do not want the model I have and find this absolutely unacceptable!

I have not used my Edgars account for years but started receiving SMS's saying that my account is overdue. I have been into a store twice, emailed over a dozen times, spoken on the phone over ten times but I am unable to get a statement or find out what the balance is for. The one teller said that she has received alot of complaints about charges on an account so perhaps, without me knowing, Edgars started charging me something? I just dont know. Now I answer calls every second day from a call centre demanding payment and I have been listed as a bad payer but still no one can tell me what this balance is about!
I thought this account was closed LONG ago. I do noteven have an account number or a statement or anything. The only thing I have is a reference from the sms which is as per subject line above.
Please confirm that this is a mistake, that you will close my account and remove any bad listing.

I'm in the same boat, my problem is gave them instruction to close it after settling the total balance and also requested settlement letter but all I get now is statements with those accumulated charges and how much is my balance. I even went as far as calling their fraud department and once I told them about my situation, they hung on me and RCS transferred me to the line that is muted. How annoying! They are Crooks they just want to gain from this fees that we did not sign up for, no wonder they are in this situation.

I bought a cellphone in jet store in alexandra mall. It only worked for 6 days, returned it but the manager doesnt want to help me. The sales consultant told me that I am the first customer to return that make of a phone. Is really not fair that I must suffer because I was mislead to buy an item that is known to have mechanical fault. I bought a phone because I need it. Puma shoes
I bought my PUMA shoes 6 months ago. The shoes was great and awesome. After a while the inside of the shoe tore - the shoe is not even 6 months old and it does this. I have bought a cheap shoe for half the price and it even lasted longer than this brand. I am not a construction worker or someone with a low IQ - I use the shoes as casual shoes, I won't go rock climbing with these shoes, therefore it should at least last longer than a year or two.
Card keep declining
I have been trying to buy on my jet account twice since 4 November and every time the computer throws out a error stating my details not updated on new system (my details haven't changed in past 5 years). I did NOT receive any communication regarding my details... Jet Ladybrand phoned head office 6 times on 4th of November 2020 but everytime they couldn't get through then on Sunday 8th November 2020 Jet Ficksburg also tried to phone without success. On 15th of November teller at Ficksburg branch took copy of my id as well as going through a multitude of questions in an attempt to rectify the problem after an hour of struggling he said he thinks it is sorted and said I must wait 24 hours. Yesterday 29th of November I attempted to buy something urgent at Edgars Loch Logan Bfn where my card kept being declined and teller tried to go on system with my ID number where after she told me my jet thank u card is not accepted on the system anymore... What the hell? I am so sick and tired of always having trouble with the edcon group and their incompetence.
I am looking forward to get a urgent response herein.
Unfair blacklisting

I have had an account with edgars which went into arrears and was then handed over to the attorneys who contacted me and told me to make an x amount of payment to close this account. Now after doing this I requested a paid up letter in which I was told would arrive in 21 days. This all transpired in may 2019 now a year later I still do not have it, I recently see on my credit report that I owe u a balance of r395 which I have being to the store 13 times to pay and the consultant tells me my account is blocked, all I want is for my name to be cleared please can u help me.
