I had floors installed in my living room and dining room. I was advised, "If you pay it off in a year, no interest. Sounds great! The total amount was close to $3, 000. I get the first statement and pay $240... I do the same every month. Surprise, surprise... I get the last statement the other day, expecting to see a bill for $185 or so and Wells fargo has billed $500 interest. The closing date for the last statement was 07/15, if they did not pay off by that day, they billed interest for the year. I contact customer service and was told... "If you pay the full amout, I'll refund $100. Per the rep, I had to pay it off during the 11th month, because the 12th statement closed on the 1 year date. This is banking at it's worst.. And to think, we (tax payers) bailed these fools out.

I completely sympathize with you. My wife and I had floors with EMPIRE installed in December 2012. We put $5500 down and finananced $7500 thru Wells Fargo. They have been an absolute nightmare to deal with customer service wise and it seems that they have an issue with whether we pay on time, pay to early and even if we send them more than minimum balance at one time. Our payments are $228 a month and one month we sent them a $1000 in between the start of the next billing cycle and they actually assessed our account with a $35 fee! For making an extra payment! We haduntil December 28th to pay the bill off in full before the No Interest promotion kicks in. We finally had enough of their nonsense and went to our credit union and got a personal loan at 8% to pay them off in full today. There are too many loopholes with their agreement and there's no way I'm giving them the satisfaction of hitting us with $1800 in interest in the event we can't pay off this account on time.
BTW: Our floors from EMPIRE are amazing!
Wells Fargo not so much...
After exhaustive phonecalls to both Wells Fargo, Empire and recieving a ticket # from Empire Customer service, I was so happy to see the REPLY to Christopher and called the number [protected] x4195, called it and received a phone call within 20 minutes. I was thriled.
I too experienced the same issues as Chris: I get the last statement expecting to see a bill for $128.45 or so and Wells fargo has billed $1034.530 interest. The closing date for the last statement was 07/15, if they did not pay off by that day, they billed interest for the year. I contact the customer service mentioned and was told "EMPIRE cannot remove the interest"- I received WELLS FARGO #'S [protected] (NON EXISTENT), #[protected] (NOT IN SERVICE) and then [protected]. The last 1800 number given to me by Empire was the initial one I called at the beginning of this vicious cycle - prior to BEGGING and CRYING to EMPIRE to help me remove the accrued interest. WELLS FARGO was ABSOLUTELY UNMOVABLE AND KEPT INSISTING ON THE FACT THAT I SIGNED A CONTRACT, I pleaded and cried to them too DEAF EARS- (im glad we backed out of a Mortgage with them and went with ABN AMRO).
What FLOORS me, pardon the pun, is the fact that earlier today I was on the phone with my architect, contractor and discussing future construction. I told this to EMPIRE- we will be needing carpeting in 2 rooms and possible flooring on 600 square feet- DEAF EARS.
I will listen to my contractor and do the flooring through him instead of EMPIRE. What a pity they value their relationship with WELLS FARGO over their customers.
Absolutely right! Empire & Wells Fargo are legal thieves. The whole transaction was a nightmare since the beginning. We were supposed to pay $3, 000 for 2 mid and 1 small bedrooms. The day of installation we were told that the seller made a mistake on his budget and that we had to pay $1, 000 more. Seller was totally careless. We didn't cancel because the carpet was off already and the installers were very nice and concerned. Then, on the 12th month Wells Fargo charged us $1, 109 on interest, and since then is charging us $77.20 out of $149.56 every month, so we'll end up paying more than $5, 000. My advice DO BUSINESS WITH ANYONE ELSE BUT WITH THESE THIEVES
Every comment on here is 100% accurate. I am currently experiencing the same thing. I paid $3300 for carpet from empire today. The sales rep explained that the first year was interest free and if it wasnt paid interest would start. On the 12th month i was hit with a fee for about $1000. I have called several times explaining that this wasnt the agreement. Shame on me for not doing more research but The rep straight lied to my face. I explained this to Wells Fargo but the service center person I spoke with only repeated the same phrase over and over as if they weren't even humans. Who in the hell just repeats " This is Wells Fargo, We cant help you with this charge"? At first they tried to say Empire today charged this to them. Then It was later established that they charged the interest for the first year. Everyone I speak to there just repeats the same thing over not even trying to listen. You can tell this is how they are trained to respond and that this type of activity and complaints is business as usual. Everything about this bank is crooked.

I love dealing with Empire . Fantastic people and service. Wells Fargo sucks! I paid faithfully and was on the path to being paid in full by the end of agreement and no interest. But wait oh no Wells Fargo sticks me with late fees for four months. So now we are on the road to paying off another 480.00 or so. They sit the due date and I am sure no I know they do that on purpose. Empire I love you folks but you need to change your financial institution. No wonder there are do many lawsuits against them. I will never do business with anyone that uses Wells Fargo again.
Empire fantastic! Wells Fargo sucks! I cannot use Empire again because I will never ever deal with those thieves at WF. My complaint is the same as everyone else. Empire you should change financial institutions. I may join one of the numerous lawsuits that are currently ongoing against Wells Fargo and there are quite a few.
Sorry Empire . Did not mean to post twice.
