Customer service
My mother had arrived first At engen garage kritzinger (Alberton) and the lady who worked there decided that she would help anther customer that came after us.Wre tried to signal her and tell her that we were there first but she ignored us.My mother went out of the car and called her out but she responded that she is not her daughter and must not shout at her.It was a scene.I asked the gentleman man if there is a manger we can get help from but he said what do I think a manger will do (He raised his voice) he also pointed out that I must shut up because I was not even the driver. After carefully assigning the situation we found out that the same gentleman was the manger.Thr service was appalling and a huge slap on the face as my mother and I stay in Vosloorus but always preferred to drive to alberton and use this garage for years now.
Desired outcome: Disciplined
It is rediculas waiting 25min to be assisted while other customers are being served
Absolutely [censored] receiveing service like this.. I HATE engen in Zakkariyya Park..
Desired outcome: Feedback
complaint/criticism
Visited Engen Petrol Station Woodhurst Drive Chatsworth Durban at approx 15h00 to fill petrol full tan for my car and 20 litre container for petrol electrical generator. Attendant advised restriction of R500 petrol only. Thereafter spoke to manager in his office- he advised they were short of petrol. Strange. Eventually agreed to fill max 50 litres for car and container. Manager came to see me as I was leaving, wanted to know if I was complaining to Engen. I replied Yes.
This is unfair business practice. Have been filling both my cars here for nearly 40 years.
My suspicion was they intended to sell petrol from tomorrow at a higher price. Disgraceful if you cannot act.

Desired outcome: Investigate unfair and unethical practice
Duel top up exceeds vehicle tank capacity.
On Tuesday 30/11/2021 I topped up my 2019 Renault Duster with diesel to save on the fuel price increase. The vehicle fuel gauge still had 3 bars which is about quarter of a tank of fuel left. Only later when I arrived at work I checked my fuel receipt and noted that 59.840 liters of fuel was put in my vehicle, almost 60 liters, which only has a 50 liter tank capacity? Considering that prior to filling up there was approx. still a quarter tank this then is physically impossible. I phoned and complained to a gentleman called Pieter who did not know what to do about my complaint.
The fuel station was Bonaero Park Engen. Tel [protected]. Fuel pump number 7, assistant Godfrey and time was 06.11 am.
Desired outcome: Pump calibration certificate to be supplied and investigation as to how I was over charged.
The service at the garage by the owner of the garage.
The owner of the garage at cornubia engen island service station. In durban mount edgecombe. The owner is a disrespectful man. I was parked at a parking bay which is marked for parking but the owner comes up to my car opened my door and tell me to move. So I tol him it is a parking bay. He says u can't park I front of the generator. But there is no signs there. He then comes up to me a while back because I did not move because I went into the quick shop. He comes back and opens my door use vulgar words at me and slams my car door in my face. That's my car he has no. Right to do what's he's done. He's manner in which he addresses people that is actually supporting him is disgusting.
He's name is Sam.
Desired outcome: Want him to be addressed about his service to customers. He's not only Done this to mei have heard of other cases aswell.
COVID-19 compliance
The the engen 1-stop just outside of empangeni on the freeway has got no COVID-19 compliance they have employees working at the cash register with no face masks just Shields using the excuse that these people are asthmatic. I addressed the matter to the manager who just turned and walked away saying that they will try to let her use a mask. Nothing was done. It is against the South African law not to use a mask and the asma excuse is false.
"Dirty fuel"
On the 30th September 2021 i filled the petrol from Engen in Bloemfontein next to Aljos spar, after i left the garage the car started to give me problem. The engine warning light was on, i took the car to VW they discovered that the car is having dirty fuel. I had to pay R 4 816.05. Because the Engen manager refused to take responsibility.
Cell:[protected]/[protected]
Desired outcome: I want the refund of the amount I paid at VW and the amount for my petrol because VW had to drain the tank
Fueling Station
The service in Umlazi V Engen Garage is pathetic and beyond everything, Staff stand while you have your car parked, some staff re having a fat chat with Taxi drivers, The only time you will see them moving is when a taxi comes, No Greetings nothing, If that garage was not servicing taxis it would have shut down many yes ago, Staff is very rude special She Petrol attenders, 5 people standing in one pump and basically no one cares, Staff needs to be trained on Customer Service, I don't blame them but it all boils down to Management, Management is poor, You can't have staff doing the same thing, Very disappointing, I waited a good 15 minutes, In a bay with only 2 cars and 6 attenders were spotted having chat, Covid they should be scared and treating customers as things re bad, People re jobless, But as they always says "Bekumlungu or Umuntu omnyama " it was a white person or black person, Cause they undermine their own,
Desired outcome: Staff should be trained or management needs to be changed
Service
Good day,
I am complaining about the following service station.
Adres: 223 Pretoria Rd, Primrose, Germiston, 1401
First visit to the service station...they told me I could not pay using a card, they don't have internet. And again yesterday I visited the service station, only to be informed that they ran out of diesel. What kind of service is this?
Morgenster service station (westgate mall cpt)
Poor customer services and even more so by the owner. Waited to fill up (60 litres) as I do monthly at this particular service station and it's not the first time that I waited and the attendants served other customers pulling up after me. I confronted the attendant to enquire whether or not they realized I'm waiting and after not getting much joy I thought it would be best speaking to the owner which I did. I called the owner and explained what had happened and asked him to check his camera footage. He told me he cant do so now and didn't even apologize nor seem to care but rather put the phone down after I told him that I won't be filling up at this service station any longer and before he ended the call he replied very abruptly "okay fine" whilst I was still explaining myself. The lack of empathy shown towards customers are pathetic. I always fill up at this engen garage as it is convenient and they have just lost a customer. Teach your service station managers customer etiquette!
Complaints
I was by your Engen Croyden service station spent more than 20 minutes for service, I know petrol prices is increasing tonight. How can a service station only have 2 petrol attendants on this night knowing there's going to be a huge amount of cars. To top it off these two guys kept on servicing the same pumps and ignoring me waiting at the pumps at the back. One bad experience and I'm never returning there they were perfectly positioned for my fill ups and there fast food restaurants and stores for a quick supper on my way home.
They lost me I won't support any of there business.
I pulled up about 19h40 and left 20H00 in a white Hyundia Creta.
Let them check there footage
Desired outcome: Improve service
Forced to use incorrect petrol card by an engen merchant
On the 5 July 2021 I went to an Engen garage to fill a 20lt drum of petrol.
I gave the attendant my FIRST AUTO bank BULK CARD which was not the registration of the vehicle. The manager and his daughter argued with me they would not listen to my explanation and shut the security door in my face and subsequently told me to never come back to their station. They did this In front of the entire shop they shouted at me and would not let me explain that a FNB bulk petro card is the right card to be using. They made me use my vehicles First Auto Card which is not a BULK CARD to pay for the 20lt drum. This is in fact illegal because the First Auto card that I used is NOT a bulk card and therefore does not allow me to fill up drums. I contacted First AUto to discuss the matter and they told me the reason for a bulk card is so that i can fill up drums and the bulk card risk lies with me. The fact that the petrol station made me fill up the drum with my car card that is not a bulk card is illegal. I use Engen because of the relationship Engen has with FNB. However Engen cannot seem to train the owners of the petrol stations at to which cards they can use. Please teach the merchants what it means when a petrol card has BULK CARD written on it.
If your merchant was trained all of this humiliation I received today could have been avoided. I therefore blame Engen for the merchants unruly behavior because they have not been informed or trained properly.
Why be part of a franchisee if there is not training support on something as simple as this.
Desired outcome: They must reverse the transaction on my car card that is not a bulk card and they must charge the 20lt drum to the correct card. I also want an apology
Oil cap missing after petrol attendant filled oil at Engen filling station
Dear Sir /Madam
Please help regarding the oil cap that dissapeared at Engen known as Hlophe motors in Pietermarirzburg, KwaZulu Natal. The petrol attendant called Sphe was attending our car, filling petrol and oil on the 19/06/2021. After certain kilometers drive on our way home the car started loosing power and displayed EPC light on the dash board.
We approached the Hlophe motors franchise for a solution as we thought that something went wrong during their service to our car. The immediate petrol attendant supervisor called Mbali Hadebe and the filling station owner promised to cover all the cost including the breakdown cost for the car to be taken to VW dealership for inspection and diagnosis. We then towed the car the next morning to VW as per Hlophe motors filling station managers and the diagnosis came out as oil cap missing. We communicated the outcome of the diagnosis to the filling station and they asked for invoices, proof of the diagnosis and payment details promising to pay but since they vanished in thin air. When contacted the immediate supervisor Mbali Hadebe about keeping their promise the lady is rude and not living up to what they promised.
We are left devastated and disappointed by the way how this filling station treats clients in such disrespect and dishonesty.
We hope our complaint reaches your attention.
Thank you for your assistance.
Yours faithfully,
SC Duma

Negligence
I went to Engen Tokia on the 7th June as I do every Monday morning to fill up for the week have my oil and water checked as well the petrol attendant/s ( two both helped ) forgot to put my radiator cap back on and I did not know this driving to work and home till I arrived at home Tuesday evening only to find smoke coming out of my engine. I the opened the bonnet only to relize the cap was never put on after they checked my oil and water so there was no water in my car. I want to know who is responsible for the damage that this have caused.
Refund
On the 4th June I was charged twice when I went the next day for my refund the manager refused to give me my money, had no musk on and was busy smoking his pipe and very unprofessional. I had my two years old baby when he was busy smoking his thing while talking to me. He wanted me to leave my details of which I refused to because all I wanted was my money. He was so casual like I was just a number and did not matter.
Desired outcome: I want my money
Rewards
During the last month at 4 occasions at 3 diffenrent service stations the Clicks reward card did not get a connection to process the rewards. One particular station in Cape Gate, which is where I live, never gets a connection. I refuse to fill up there. But I work in the HH area and the other 2 was the Helderberg and Gants centre station. At the Helderberg one, three different swipe machines could not get a connection. Is the reward system for real or is it a drawcard for me to fill up at Engen?
Frustrating service from fuel attendant
On 01/06/2021 I went to Engen Duzi Convenience centre in 381 Boshoff street.
I got to the pump and told Ayanda to give me R100 unleaded. He then asked me about oil and water, I said no its all fine I am in a hurry. He then asks me about the tyre pressure by this stage I am frustrated as I'm in a hurry to get to a doctors appointment and I just told you all is fine. Before he fills the fuel he ask me if I have a clicks card I now just ignored him, I felt he is just being arrogant. I give him my card before swiping he goes on to ask me if he must wipe my windscreen. He then enters R100.14 on the speedpoint. I told him I filled fuel for R100 he has to get another machine to enter R100. I left that garage frustrated after telling him I'm in a hurry he still goes on with his barrage of questions.
I went in today 02/06/2021 and spoke to a Sue explained what happened yesterday. According to her he did nothing wrong she said I could be the mystery customer. I then asked her so if I'm in a hurry I must not stop at that garage she said if that's how I feel. All she went on about is her MYSTERY customer. I am a customer standing in front of you telling u about my frustration and she says there's nothing she can do her staff was correct in what he did.
After me telling him I am in a hurry I must still endure 100 questions because of their mystery customer. I will never ever stop at that garage again although its on my route service from the head is pathetic.
After me saying I am in a hurry he just went on and on. All he had to do was fill my fuel and let me go as I did say "ALL IS FINE"
PATHETIC SERVICE
THE MYSTERY CUSTOMER IS MORE IMPORTANT

Reckless Driving
Hi Engen
Please see attached picture of Engen Road Tanker and number plate.
The driver of the attached Road tanker was travelling on the southern freeway (Kwazulu Natal, Durban)heading north at about 07:00 this morning (14/04/2021) and suddenly crossed over a solid line almost causing an accident also possible explosion.
He deliberately forced his way into the left lane on a solid line whilst trying to take the Moore Road turn off. I presume he was coming from the Engen Refinery Storage facility off Tara Road.
I am not even going to say please have a word with the driver as complaints like these normally don't get attended to unless there are fatalities.
