I have a close relative who is very physically and mentally ill. He is checking himself out of intensive care against doctor advice and doctors state he should not be driving because he is a danger to himself and others. Enterprise refuses to take his rental car away from him because they are afraid of a lawsuit. They couldn't care less about the danger...

Enterprise Rent-A-Car odor in car

1/14/09 made reservation for car/ confirmation #RF30GO
1/21/09 pickup car from New Bern at 5:02p. m., left car in lot while we went out to eat. Returned around 7p. m. to take car home. Noticed smell but thought it may have been the cleaning supplies to detail car.
1/22/09 Stopped by Enterprise before leaving for Florida to request an upgrade with cruise control, they stated they had no cars and there wouldn’t be any back before afternoon, no need to speak about smell.
After about an hour I decided to drive with the windows down and the heater on to air the car out. There was no change and by midmorning I had a headache and having bouts of nausea, at lunch I took a BC powder and ate a light lunch of soup and crackers. Talked to my husband and told him the smell was still strong and we decided to call when I arrived in Florida. I did not want to stop along the way because I was afraid of getting lost. I continued on until around 3 p. m. when I decided to stop for the night. I was feeling bad and my clothing smelled just like the car. I decided to go to Wal-mart and buy something to wear and something to eat. I then took a shower, ate some crackers, took another BC, and went to bed.
1/23/09 I woke feeling bad, took another BC with orange juice and got back on the road. I arrived at my daughter’s home in Milton, Florida around 3 p. m., I was sick so I visited a few minutes and went to bed.
1/24 &1/25 I was in bed most of the weekend, I continued with having headaches, sore throat, and having chest congestion which was making it hard to breath.
1/26/09 Left Milton for Fort Walton to stay with my mother, she noticed my face was red like I was wearing rouge. Called Enterprise and asked their hours and told them about the odor.
1/27/09 I was at Enterprise when the doors opened, they called New Bern office and ask what they should do about it, New Bern said to clean the inside and see if that would help. They shampooed the carpets more than once, and told me to let the car air out and if there was still a problem to bring it back. They were very helpful.
1/28/09 I let the car air out all Tuesday but the odor was still present on Wednesday. I returned to Enterprise, they again called and spoke to New Bern, and was told to allow me to have a loaner car. I was given the phone number for a Charles Stevenson [protected]) who was over the New Bern office. I called and he was more concerned with me bringing the car back to NC than what I was going thru.
Thursday and Friday I visited with family and stayed in the bed. I was feeling the same and was concerned about my health.
1/30/09 I left and went back to Milton at which time I called Poison Control and spoke to them. By this time we had decided that the smell was Kerosene. I gave them all the symptoms I was having and they referred me to the ER. I went to Santa Rosa Medical Center ER, I had chest xray, blood work, ekg, and blood gasses drawn. The doctor who examined me stated that I had Bronchitis and Sinusitis, which could have been caused by exposure to chemicals. He ordered a shot to help me breath and gave me five Rx. He also gave me a discharge note which reads “DO NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE IF FUMES ARE PRESENT IT IS MEDICALLY NOT RECOMMENDED DUE TO THE SYMPTOMS PT. PRESENTS WITH.”
1/31/09 Filled the Rx and rested most of day.
2/1/09 Granddaughter’s 1
birthday party. Decided to return home early and see own MD.
2/2/09 Back to Fort Walton. Stopped at Enterprise and they brought the car around, the odor was still present. The agent said that she could not put me back in that car, and she called the agent in New Bern. I called Mr. Stevenson again, and told him I would not be driving back the car, he reflected in his voice that he was not happy, but there was nothing he could do for me.
I left the following morning and returned home on Wednesday, 2/4. On 2/5/09 my husband and I returned the car to New Bern, my husband had been in contact with Mr. Stevenson and we knew they were not going to charge us for the full amount of rental, but we felt that the service and way I was treated by New Bern that we shouldn’t be required to pay anything. We spoke to the manager of the office and he made me feel like I was the one who did the damage and he could charge me $1 a mile to pick up the car. I know that there is now way to prove that they knew about the problem, but I know they knew and just wanted the car to be rented.
I have returned to my MD and he stated that he could not determine how long it would take for the kerosene to get out of my system and I know thru research there could be long term problems down the road.
I have been in contact with Becka Chambers [protected]) and Ausie Santos. Both were very pleasant, but in the end Mr. Santos ended by making this my fault and not finding who placed the kerosene in the car and more importantly who knew about the smell before the car was rented.
I am 59 years old, I was alone on the road, and they expected me to get stranded in a town where I knew no one to take care of a problem that I did not create.
There are no words to express my feelings of betrayal from Enterprise and fear of what may come later from this incident concerning my health.
I am asking for help to clear this up and find out what really happened.

O please Ty, I believe you are over dramatizing the situation by saying she could have died. She would not have died due to such limited exposure and i am flabbergasted that you would try to scare someone so badly. The smell was obviously not obtusely present to note at the beginning, so it wouldn't be that bad. This being true, the responsibility falls on the previous renter, who spilled the 'kerosene' in the car and not Enterprise.

You need to see a lawyer to discuss a lawsuit for payment for all medical expenses, rental expenses, and mental/physical anguish. You should have called poison control again the moment you received your results from the doctor. The car should immediately have been taken out of service and you should have been given a new car. Poison Control would have been able to verify that you had not caused the smell in the car. Enterprise would have been immediately liable for ALL problems caused by the odor, including time off work (if you work) because they rented a car knowing (or should have known) that it contained harmful, poisonous, even potentially deadly gasses. YOU COULD HAVE DIED, either from the gasses themselves, or they could have overcome you while driving, caused you to lose consciousness and steer off the roadway.
Right now you should call you local poison control and "prompt" them to conduct an investigation of poisoning on the car. If the car still has the odor and Enterprise is still renting the car, you will have no problem arguing they KNEW about the odor and still rented the car to you, KNOWING that there was a potential for a deadly outcome. CALL NOW! Even after 4 months, make the call.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car unauthorized billing

Rented a car from the Old City location of Enterprise Car Rental last week. The college aged man (all the employees at this location are college age) (all their friends seem to congregate there when not in classes). Did not walk around the car with me; but did advise me that I take the daily insurance and made a face when I refused. Didn't even tell me to initial to refuse (I just have rented enough cars I know to do this).

When I returned the car, they told me a rock hit my windshield and their were charging my account for the deductible. I looked there was no damage on the outside a small crack up under the tinting on the inside. Wouldn't have noticed if I tried... I disputed and they assured me $200 would be taken out and if it turned out to be previous damage then it would be credited. Well, they took out $250. I was livid and called the divisional office. Explained that he had turned in $200 to the local office and charged me for $250. Sounds like a police matter! Never even got a return call from the Divisional office... I am still so MAD!

If they do this to 10 business customers a month and get away with 8; they have made $400.00. Enterprise's handling of the windshield is one thing, but the local office stealing $50.00 and no one following up is even more wrong. I will rent from Budget and pay $1000.00 deposit before I will go back to this company. I am not finished yet!

Ive researched tons of these claims regarding Enterprise and how they are billing customers unauthorized amounts. Recently it happened to me when a retail car chain wouldnt pay for the rental that was due to me in lue of my warranty. So, Enterprise billed me for the rental=over $800.00! I've recently retained a lawyer and will take Enterprise to Small claims court. However, I do feel that based on the statistics and background on this and several other websites, this is something that Enterprise does quite often and gets away with-not for long! Buyer beware...but moreso, Enterprise..be more ware!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car fraud and cheating

Received a rental car from the West Islip Enterprise on Monday, Feb.8, 2009, after waiting 45 minutes. Quickly looked over car and man from rental place drove the car to my home and I drove him back. Parked car on my driveway and when I came out a little later I noticed there was a dent (8-9 inches) on passengers lower door which I missed this morning.

So I immediately drove the car back to show the man in the rental place and have him make a note of the dent I had missed on the car this morning. All of this only put 4 miles on the car.

When I went to return the car On Tuesday morning, the man came out of the rental place and checked the gas and went back in and drove me home. A few hours later I get a call from my insurance company to say that Enterprise called them and told them I was in a car accident with their car.

I was shocked!

When I called Enterprise to asked what was going on, I found out they had besides calling my insurance, had also send the car to an auto body shop, and they said I was responsible for it.

This all happened within a few hours, they are definitely pulling some kind of a Scam and I don't know what to do. They also said they didn't know what the damage on the car was it could even be totaled out.

Oh my goodness, what are they doing any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone beware of Enterprise Rental company in West Islip, something illegal is definitely going on there.

Consider other options like Alamo or budget. They do not return calls about disputed claims and are very unprofessional. Total rip off. Stay away!

Rented from Enterprise April 2009. The car was just dropped off by another customer and so I took it, as they were closing and it was fuel efficent. But since it was not clean I did not notice two very tiny ding's to the windshield near the edge, not even the size of rice. Oddly their manager went right to them as I pulled it back in a couple days later [it was much cleaner after hours in the rain]. ---- He was pretty nasty about it and said it was going to cost hundreds to fix, either my insurance or out of my pocket. After lots of complaining they have dropped the cost to $ 55. I suspect that a couple small drops of special glue for this kind of thing was all they did, costing what, a dollar at most? ------- They had the key as they checked the milage and gas level yet they are trying to blame losing it on me also! ----- Obviously they are grasping at profits by hitting customers for any BS they can possibly think of. The office grounds are also a mess.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car bad plugs and coils

In late dec. After totalling our car and renting a car from enterprise, we were advised of the great cars and prices at enterprise car sales. After checking on line, we decided to go take a look. We test drove a beautiful ford explorer sport. Ran great, looked great, we loved it! It was a 2006, 52, 000 miles, and got $500.00 off blue book price. Came with warranty, covering just about everything you could imagine. Was great till about 4 weeks, when it started missing out, and engine light came on. We called them and was told even though there was a? 100 point inspection and everything passed, our problem was probably not covered. If we have to pay for the repairs, it could be $500.00, for coils, spark plugs, and /or wires. We haven't even driven 1000 miles. If it's some kind of "brain" who knows how much that will be. I called them today, and our salesman
Never did come to the phone.
I have never written a complaint before, but we paid a lot of money for this car, and I didn't expect to be crapped on! I figured the least I could do is pass it on. Thanks manager mike halford and lucius!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car suspected fraud

Enterprise charged 9 days for a 1 day rental, then posted another false charge a few months later - stay away from them!

We rented a car at the white plains, ny branch and returned it the same day. Got their computer print out receipt before we left. What was a $56. Charge came posted at over $500 on our credit card. Chris, the manager of the local branch where we rented the car promised immediate refund and a return call. He never did. Their corporate office sent our credit card company false documentation for a 9-day rental with a signature on it. We called that person who didn't return our call. Then we received a $75 charge months later on our statement.

A new manager at the local branch apologized and issued a refund for the initial overcharge and promised to investigate the $75 erroneous charge. Reached the guy at the corporate office who explained that the car was not logged in properly for the right duration of rental time. Their system still shows a 9 day rental to date. When questioned where they kept our original one day rental record, he said it's stored in a disc. The $75 might be a ticket citation for the car after we returned it.

Very disturbing business practice!

The service I recieved at the Enterprise-Rent-A Car in Oxnard, Ca on Ventura Blvd was horrible. They charged the deposit on my debit card and kept indicating it was refunded back and it never was. I had spoke to some other ### there earlier who had indeed verified it had not been credited back, so this is what prompted me to call back a few days later. A new idiot answered and stated it had been credited back on 8/16, but the funny thing was is that I hadn't picked up the car until 8/17 so how could that be?

The idiot had nothing else to say, but "well that's all I show so check with your bank." Ugh, did he not listen to one word I said when I first called in like, "Hi I just checked my account and do NOT show that the money has been credited back to my account."

They are so ###ic!

Dear mr. Rich driesbach,

God is good.

This letter is a request for a refund of $89.80 as a result of my bank account being charged $38.00 for four overdrafts as a result of enterprise rent-a-car not only overcharging by 50% for the weekend rental, but also charging a deposit of $250.00 instead of the original $100.00. *

The rental contract number was h8200v in which you should have received a forward copy by email today.in this contract or stipulation, you will see the detailed information in which the ministry agreed to and made financial arrangements based upon this contract. There were multiple things, at the last minute, in which you changed according to the report to our office representative or me. You caused stress when you announced that the rental car could not be taken to “alabama, ” in which the contract or reservation clearly shows that alabama is a location in which you service. You also refused to accept the one free weekend day coupon stating that it was a holiday; however, the coupon stated that it “may” apply including blackouts, but it didn’t say that you had to not apply this coupon.

Also, there was an upgrade in which this upgrade was not a part of our original contract information and cost this ministry additional money. Even though minimum costs were involved, every little bit of monetary savings counts because this ministry survives off of donations.

On or about august 06, 2008 an enterprise rental car official sent me a “credit card authorization form, ” as a result of a request from myself to a ms. Tennille. The address was 3100 nw 27th ave., miami, florida 33142. Beforehand a reservation was made for the exact dates of december 26, 2008 to december 29, 2008 for an economy car at the weekend discount rate.
An email was sent to confirm the date of the car rental.
A copy of the “credit card authorization form, ” was sent to the miami, florida office with a date of october 21, 2008 as the official contract date of authorization. During the time of october 21, 2008, the deposit fee was $100.00 and no indication was made that $250.00 would be required to rent the vehicle at this time.
It was understood that the deposit would be a mere $100.00 and the rental fee would be approximately $47.00. With these figures, the ministry had a total of $347.59 in the checking account to cover: 1). $100.00 deposit 2). $50.00 car rental 3). $150.00 gas for an approximately 706.1 mile trip (Roundtrip). The ministry estimated that approximately only $150.00 would be withdrawn by the enterprise rent-a-car company to cover both the deposit and the rental for 3 days. Contrarily, on december 29, 2008 a whopping $360.17 was withdrawn from the ministry checking account from your company enterprise rent-a-car. As a result of enterprise’s overdraft of the account, the account was not only placed into the red or a deficient, but also the ministry was charged 4 overdraft fees at a cost of $38.00 each for a grand total of $152.00. You were kind enough to refund $60.20 for your errors; however, there is a total of $89.80 which needs to be settled by enterprise rent-a-car. There were also an additional 3 overdraft fees coming; however, based upon my earlier arrival to the bank and taking money out of the ministry saving's account and depositing money into the checking, these 3 additional charges for overdraft were not credited to my account. When I arrived this morning to the bank, the money from enterprise rental car still was not applied to my account promptly and for whatever reason.
I am requesting that you place the settlement amount of $89.80 into the checking account of the ministry as soon as you receive this letter.
At this point in time, if you can clear this matter today, it will not be an issue and I will not have to contact corporate in order to attempt to get the deficit money and to clear the debt against the ministry.
I have already heard your argument on the issue, but I am not convinced that this debt was incurred by the ministry nor the individuals who the ministry allowed to rent the car. The issue is between the ministry and enterprise rent-a-car.
Please do not contact (Names withheld) pertaining to this matter again.
If the matter is not cleared up with this simple letter, I will contact corporate. If the matter is not cleared with corporate, I will make it my business to find the biggest search engines on the internet and share this horrible experience with the general public without any embellishments…just the truth of how my experience with enterprise was less than excellent. I will also look into small court options[...].

Things you need to know: If you ask for the "cheapest" rate on a rental, they will give you what they have available, not what is "cheapest". They likely won't tell you they have "no compact" cars, they'll just put you in something and charge you the higher rate. Other reputable car rental companies do not do this. Customers who make a reservation online...

Enterprise Rent-A-Car don't use this company

We visited Seattle from October 8 through October 12. We rented a car from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. They said the total charges would be $211.75. We left very early on the 12th. The Enterprise office at Sea-Tac wasn't open and there was a sign instructing us to turn in the car a Comfort Inn. At this hotel, there was only a basket for turning in the keys. We put the keys in the basket and took the shuttle to go to the airport.

Enterprise is now claiming we turned in the car on October 16 and have charged us $379.82 on October 23. This is not true. We turned in the car on October 12 at 4:30 a. m.

Enterprise is simply lying and have overcharged us. Don't use this company.

I have been renting from Enterprise lately & i was very happy until recently, they over charged me on my rental for a Vauxhall Mereva i was charged £75 instead of £44 for the special weekend, i mentioned this to them & i was fobbed off they told me the prices may have gone up so i accepted that, after a few hours of having the car i got a puncture, there was no spare tyre & jack in the boot just a stupid puncture repair kit, so i phoned the AA because Enterprise was closed i only had the car Friday half day Saturday & Sunday & Monday half day & lost out on Friday nights rental because of the tyre, the AA man came & said the tyre was damaged on the tyre wall & could not be repaired, i phoned Enterprise in the morning & they told me i would have to pay for a new tyre which was £65 so i had to spend my Saturday morning having the car tire replaced at Kwik Fit at my cost, when i eventually took the car back on Monday morning i mentioned the £75 i was charged & showed them a print out from the internet on a group C car they then apologised & refunded me the £31, just over a week later i received a letter from Enterprise saying that i was not covered for the AA even though they supplied me with the telephone number in case anything went wrong they admit there was an operator error (the AA said they would put the kit on for me but never did they just left without doing anything because the tyre couldn't be repaired) they are now saying this operator error is being passed to me & i am having to pay £72 call out charge, if this is how they treat their customers i am no longer a customer & i am in the process of speaking with trading standards about this, Enterprise are are ok when all is going well but if anything goes wrong then they jump on you like a ton of bricks, all this for a tyre puncture which in my opinion is wear & tear.

Same issue with them. I rented a car for 2 days. I turned it in on time at 12:30pm. A few days later, I see my charge card statement, it showed they charged me for an extra day. There is no excuse for this. I should have been suspicious because when I was at the place, a couple came in with the same complaint AND when I came to turn the car in, there was a lady there with the same issue. Lousy!

They did the same thing to us in New York. Rented a car for one day, but got charged for 9 days! When we disputed it with our credit card company, they had the gut to provide false documentation of a 9 day rental. Then a few months later, we found another charge from them. We called their corporate office and the manager gave us some reason for not logging in our rental return properly, and the latter charge might be a ticket citation after we returned the car. Very dishonest merchant. Don't ever use them!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car horrible customer service

I picked up a car on 11/23/2008 from 614 Cobb Parkway South in Marietta, GA, which was a Maxima that we requested. So, now during the walk through of the car everything on the outside appeared to be in good condition. While sitting in the car I tried letting down the driver's window and it got stuck a quarter of the way. Went back to tell Sarah about the window problems so I wouldn't be held accountable for it and she told me she could put me into an Altima. I stated to her I didn't want an Altima I had asked for a Maxima. So, Sarah's customer service was great, because she said that she would try to get another Maxima for us before Tuesday upon departure of our Thanksgiving Holiday to Texas. Once leaving Sarah, I had some errands to run and got on the express way and now the car is shaking, vibrating when brake is applied, and car is pulling to the left below 60mph and above 60mph it is going to the right on top of the vibration that could possible give me a headache on an thirteen hour trip. So now, I went to the airport to try to save the company some time in rectifying the problem instead of getting upset and once again giving the company another chance to make me a satisfied customer without all the extra run around and rudeness. Of course I received rude customer service by a guy named Matthew Baker who stated, "There is nothing physically wrong with the car so he could only offer me a pick-up truck or a PT Cruiser in place of the Nissan Maxima," which I am paying a premium rate for. So Mr. Baker listened to my previous issues that I have had with Enterprise and I asked him could he please switch out the Maxima for another Maxima. Well Mr. Baker didn't hold his composure very well at all like I was annoying him and told me, "I am sorry that you didn't like my suggestion and there is no way he could switch out the car." It was two in the parking lot and there were several being returned at the time I arrived. This is SO UNFAIR and I understand that life isn't fair but I have remain calm and kept my composure with everyone including road side service and rental agents.

There are so many complaints about Enterprise Rental Car’s service and practices. I have read everything from inexcusable poor service to false accusations of damage. I encourage anyone renting a car from these people to read, READ, read the fine print on the rental agreement. It sounds as though you have no rights and they can treat you any way they want and charge you with anything they want, and they don’t have to prove anything. One way to protect yourself is to have the rental agent also look under the hood an under the car for any damage. Have them make notes on your original rental agreement and the final receipt that there was no damage. This is where they are really trapping innocent consumers – DON’T LEAVE UNTIL THEY DO THIS!
If you are accused of damaging a rental car, pay attention and listen (taping conservations is a good way to catch them in their lies – check your state laws) to the office you rented from (call them and ask questions) and the “Loss Control Administrator” and look at all the info they send you – body shop invoices, towing receipts – you can catch them in their lies and stop some of these false accusations. Look at the dates the car was towed; compare mileage against the final receipt you received from Enterprise.
I also encourage everyone who has a problem with Enterprise, contact the Consumer Affairs, Better Business Bureau and the Enterprise Rental Headquarters (I will even give you the address) 600 Corporate Park Drive, St. Louis, MO 63105. Also, contact the Department of Insurance (Insurance Commissioner) in your state. These agencies are very pro-active about contacting you and letting you know the actions they are taking or what you need to do to protect yourself.
When our case, settles I plan to take aggressive action in making the public aware of these practices Enterprise uses. If you are interested in contributing information you can contact me at sewroom@comcast.net.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car charge fees on my card card without my permission

I went to Enterprise at the Bradley Park Drive one, after the Enterprise on Manchester expressway recommended me this one because my car was being fixed near there. One of the gentlmen asked me how long will I need to rent the car for. I told him till monday. He said I will have to pay the difference. First my payment was $13.61. Then I did an upgrade then paid another $22.42. I get a phone call this morning on October 21, 2008, telling me to get intouch with my insurance agent. Because they were only going to pay for 4 days. He stated that they would have to either bill my insurance company or my self, because he has to close the bill out. I called my agent, left her a message to call me. while I was waiting on her return phone call. I check my on line banking and notice that Mr. Seth Welch already charge my account $94. 53 which caused my account to go under. I did not give him any permission to do this, I called and tried to talk to him, he was rude. He said that he talked to the agent and that the agent said that they were only going to pay for 3 or 4 days, he then charge my account. right after he said this morning that he would have to charge my agent or my, but he would rather try to charge the agents first. Then if they would not pay he would then bill me. He did not bill me, he immediately charge my account. I still have not spoken with my agent yet. I never had any negative dealings on the Enterprise on Manchester expressway. I've should have stuck with them.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car scratch scam

I believe I got hit with the standard dent scam from these people. I rented a car for one day to go to a race where the car was parked in a field. I turned down their insurance, and the car they rented me was a ratty Mitsubishi Lancer with a hole completely through the floorboard carpeting, down to the metal floorboard.

I made the mistake of dropping the car off 1 hr before the branch opened - dents to the hood and the roof were noted by staff at their Hamden office. I thought this was highly unlikely, if anything was there this had to be pre-existing - but I was willing to entertain the possibility, and at least if they showed me the damage, then I figured they had me and I probably couldn't argue with them. I got the notice of a claim 2 days after I returned the car.

Happily for Enterprise the car was always rented as soon as I got their claim letter. Then the car turned out to be at the body shop. Their claims person was pathologically unable to return a phone call or a letter. She also appeared not to be able to respond to the Amex insurance people who tried to contact her about my supplemental primary insurance. She did manage to mail me a letter where she seemed surprised I hadn't paid, despite her apparent refusal to contact the insurance company. She finally sent documents which showed the car went to the body shop weeks after the incident, weeks after they told me the repairs happened. They never produced pictures or documentation other than a body shop bill.

I can not overstate what a bush league operation this is. Their shadiness and reluctance to provide any documentation of actual physical damage is quite damning in my eyes. Their inability to respond in a professional manner or acknowledge my complaint at all is quite demonstrative of their dedication to customer service. That Amex insurance was the best $20 I spent for a rental day as it saved me over $1000.

I will not do business with Enterprise again, and I will continue my Amex insurance plan. I will also start taking pictures when I pick up and drop off the car, and mark off defects on every surface of the car possible before I leave. If this is the way they want to play, I'm game. Stay away from these people if you can.

i went to rent a car 1/3/12 was told that i was on the do not rent list for damage to a car in 2003-the information they could give me was that my DL# was on it but my name was not the same or address which i told the manager my name has not changed and i did not live at that location at the time - i stated their must some scam going on and how in 9yrs- he says we go by the dl#-I've called corp no call back - an unable to get any resolution from anyone what to do in

One day the tyre will retire and pass its due date.
They called the repair shop and asked me to pay for the flat tyre. It seems that they call this repair shop very often as the manager said call Jenny like usual and ask her about the damages( I know what it means- it means the usual receipt/bill charges to earn money)
Total Scam Enterprise!

Please do not rent from Park royal branch in London. Another friend of mine had to pay for car dents which were already there when she rented the car. It goes through a usual process- same repair shop billing!

After years renting w Enterprise they tried this to no avail but, now I too have been hit by the "dent" scam Ridgefield CT Enterprise office stating that the car with 25000 miles, very rough had a "very small dent under the rocker panel" which was not there 3 days ago. Lady walked the car in about 30 seconds, and so did I -I mean the car was a station car type rental vehicle it looked "okay", not perfect . I did not hit anything; I had to clean and disinfect the car-it had a passport, photos, and other items, garbage etc in the car which I noticed upon driving off. I located the owner of the passport and photos, returned the items to the Enterprise office, notified them the car was dirty etc and no effort to clean etc. not evan a thank you..Car a Cobalt w NY tags had: Change oil soon light on, driver seat low and thrust back, tobacco smell- had been smoked in, was not cleaned-but I had my car in the shop and figured at $29 day and then a $9.99 weekend rate, I won t complain. Dropped car off before Mon am opening, received a call around 6 pm Monday. Called them Tues 8 am where they hit me up with the "very small dent" scam and I believed they have contacted my insurance company. I have never had an accident, insurance claim or otherwise and have rented and owned cars in the US and Europe. I have lived in CT most of my life same address, and used this Enterprise 15yrs w no issues. This is certainly a scam. Contacting the Atty General here in CT. Will try and arbitrate w Enterprise damage recovery unit as I did not hardly use the car. It was parked in our driveway and away from cars at all times. About 150 miles in 3 days.

I totally agree and have had a similar situation. I rented a car from Enterprise in Rochester, New York with a drop off in Niagara Falls, NY. Upon returning the car, an Enterprise employee evaluated the car ---alone, with a flash light. After 15 minutes he came back stating there was damage in the form of scratches on the driver's side quarter panel. I stated categorically that I did not know how the damage was created and I believed the damage was there when I rented the vehicle. He looked up the history and said there was no record of any damage. He then stated he needed to fill out an incident report so that the next person would not get blamed and that the damage was most likely missed and most likely a "no need to fix" assessment would be made. He stated I would know of their decision by 10:00 am the next day. After drafting the report, he printed it and asked me to sign it otherwise I could not be driven home. I stated two things: 1) the "scratches" were not on the driver's side quarter panel as written in the report but were in fact on the bumper, 2) I categorically denied that the damage was done under my rental. The employee insisted on a signature. I signed and the person who was to drive me home went out to the vehicle, looked over the car twice and did not see any damage. After a third look and bending down he pointed out the damage. We returned to the office and I stated: 1) Your own employee missed the damage twice even when he knew where to look, 2) when I rented in Rochester we walked around t was 4:15 pm at night, late and starting to rain so we probably missed it. Mysteriously this employee who missed the damage twice disappeared after some managerial body language. I asked that the person who wrote up the report and manager come and re-review the damage outside. The manager become flustered, said there was no need to, but eventually allowed the employee who wrote up the report to return outside with me. I pointed out that the scratches were 11" off the ground and in a downward manner. How could I do this? The employee said a curb. I pointed out there are no 12" curbs and I would have to brush the curb from the wrong direction, not sense the curb although 3 feet from me, and not create any tire scuffing. I said it looked to me like car wash or oil change damage. Enterprise insisted that the issue would most likely be resolved as a "no need to fix"
After following up with Enterprise in both cities on a daily basis, they were unable to provide a decision, the $ amount of damage, or photos for 7 days. They promised to call me daily, but did not so I called them. On the 8th day I learned that the decision was that it must be fixed, damage of $ 275.
I will never rent from Enterprise again in my life. My insurance advise they will pay as $ amount is low and I signed no damage on receipt. I do not think Enterprose should be scaming customers, Insurance companies in such a manner.
I plan on following up with the Better Business Bureau and I believe the NY State Attorney General's office should investigate. I am sure they will find an under the radar pattern of scaming and financial creativity in this down turn economic times. Just another hit to the average American who has no recourse.
I encourage other to step forward. The internet is powerful and there is power in numbers.

I accompanied my boyfriend today 4/6/09 to return his rental car at Enterprise in Clifton, NJ on Main Ave. When he returned the car, the guy who inspected the car was the same one who gave it out to him last Friday 4/3/09, who also happens to be the rental manager of that branch, Paul Escandon. When my boyfriend got the car on friday it was raining heavily(a torrential downpour). When they did the initial inspection the car seemed dirty and my boyfriend pointed out certain damages, and even some writing on one of the door handles, that were one the car. Mr. Escandon told him that this was normal wear and tear, and did not do a thorough check of the vehicle. He also turned the car on and told my boyfriend that there was more than half a tank of gas in the car, but when my boyfriend looked at the gas gauge there was less than half a tank of gas. When my boyfriend returned the car, Mr. Escandon went to inspect the car, and this time started cleaning off the dirt and giving it a thorough inspection unlike that previous Friday. It seemed as he was trying to find something that wasn't there. He pointed out that there was a dent and my boyfriend would now have to pay the deductable from his insurance and it would be reported. I was there, and I looked at the car, and could not see any dent whatsoever. If there was one there, it was millimeters in size, which would represent normal wear and tear. We took about ten pictures of the area where Mr. Escandon said there was a dent, and this so called "dent" did not show up in the pictures. If there was a dent that was as big as he said it was, it would show up in photographs. Nevertheless, Mr. Escandon charged my boyfriend over $300 because of this. This enterprise has some shady practices with shady characters who work there. I recommend to be careful, and to take your rental car business elsewhere. We feel that this happened because my boyfriend did not take the insurance from Enterprise. Because of this they tried to find any way to get more money out of him. By claiming that there is a large dent that needs to be fixed, they will collect money from him and his insurance, as opposed to if he took their insurance. In that case there would be no reason to find any dents, because they would not make any money off of it. We plan to fight this ridiculous case. I feel like we should call Help Me Howard about this and warn people in the area about this enterprise branch, and how they try to take advantage of people and scam them out of their money. Do not rent from this branch. If you do, take pictures or video of the car. I recommend Budget Rental.

And Monday they called me where i was out of state that night travelled to atlanta and told i will visit them on Friday to see with my eyes to believe.. their answer sorry we cant hold the car till u come. then i told em i will pay the weekly rental for which they denied and told me their claim center will call me soon with the charges...ANY JUSTICE left for this hidden dent on hood trap?in my life i dont even look at enterprise offers..

Enterprise Rent-A-Car refuse to rent to me

I have rented several cars from this company and now they say that I cannot rent from them again. The reason is because they did not get their deductable on time. Well you know what this has happened several times, but they would get it straghten out and rented to me 6 times after that. I would get cars which I would have to clean before I could drive them. I even saved them a trip from picking up the car when I took it back to them. My gas for carrying it back and they still had nerve to tell me I owed two dollars in gas for it. They also avertise unlimited mileage well forget that to because they discrimanate to people on who gets unlimited mileage and who don"t. Everytime they get in anew agent to work for them he or she thinks they make the rules. Well what is enterprise car rental company coming to. This company needs to get their act together and quit letting these idiots running it for them. There will be several insurance companies which will be made aware of this so they can use some other car rental company. Have a good day and sleep good at night. Because these people names will be turned over to the attorney office

Enterprise Rent-A-Car car rental

I recently rented a car with Enterprise, and I was very displeased with the service. I called to make a reservation and I was misqouted! I was very upset when I called Enterprise the morning before I went to the office to pick up the car, and I was going to be charged an additional fifty dollars. I called the reservation number I spoke with the supervisor who told me that there was nothiing he could do and that they would have to review the recording! And he says it was going to be a "needle in a hay stack". I was very upset with his sarcasm. I planned a last minute trip to see an ill family member. So I decided to get the car despite the price. So when I got to my destination the vehicle was infested with roaches! I had to return the car to the local airport in hopes to switch vehicles. It was an inconvience to take time to switch vehicles because of an insect problem!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car what a scam!

Be very wary of enterprise rental car! Very wary!

I needed a car while mine as in the shop. I rented the vehicle on a friday and returned it on a monday. When I went to pick up the car the manager took the vehicle to the back and "washed" it. She brought it back out to me and then proceeded arong the car with me pinting out that there ws a scratch on the mirror. "okay, I see it." the car was still soaking wet I couldn't see much and for the most part it still had dirt on it. Would have been difficult to see anything. But she breezed around the car in 5 seconds with me following her.

Upon returning the vehicle another gentlemen, I use the word loosely, checked the vehicle in. All of a sudden, he is opening the trunk and crawling on the ground checking every inch of the car. He went so far a to start brushing off the car with his arm checking for damage.

After his more then thorough inspection he proceeds to inform me I damaged the car. It appeared as if the car had been brushed up against in a parking lot. Not even a dent, just a scratch mark on the front bumper near the light. Impossible! I drove the car to my business where I have my own parking spot away from all other vehicles, so no one could have brushed it there. Then the car proceeded to be parked at my home in a one car driveway for the rest of the weekend until I drove it 5 miles back to them monday.in order for this car to have been hit in my driveway someone would have had to drive thru 3 backyards and my pool to brush against, not dent it, and drive back out the same way with out me noticing and my pool staying in tact. Totally rediculous.
After much arguing I left. I just recieved a bill from enterprise for $354 for the damage. What!?!?! First of all for something I didn't and couldn't have done, and second of all you have to be kidding me $354 to fix some paint on a 6 inch scratch.

This is a huge scam and I have spoken to others who have had this location try to do the same to them. Checkout is a breeze and the car is always brought out wet for you to look at it, check in they go over it with a fine tooth comb. They are doing this to make extra money, I am sure the car won't be fixed as the damage that was already on the mirror when I received the car had been there, they knew about it, I am sure someone was charged for it, and it as still there unfixed. Hmmm, whose pocket is the money going into?

Be careful when renting from enterprise and chckthe vehicle thoroughly, bring a towel to wipe it down, and make sure you crawl around the car looking for everything! Because they won't, but they will when you bring the car back!

I've had horrible service with Enterprise as well. My car was in the shop and my insurance was paying for a certain amount towards a rental car. Well that amount only really covered their tiny, compact cars...but they didn't have any at Enterprise. So..they gave me a huge v6 car for the price of a compact...but didn't mention that they would start charging me for the HUGE car in two days. So I took the car back after two days because I had filled it up TWICE since then. TWICE IN TWO DAYS. That is a whole tank of gas a day! I told them I wanted the compact car i requested and they told me that one had just come in. Yay! But it wasn't clean. I told them that's okay, I just wanted a four cylinder vehicle as I drive all over town daily.

The guy (kid) who went to retrieve the vehicle came in and threw the keys at the girl at the counter and said "haha! no good on that one!" and ran around the counter...Apparently the power steering was ruined on the car. So I had to keep the huge car for another few days...at the end of the rental they asked me how everything went and I said horrible. The lady was really rude and said "HOW SO?!" and I told her about paying extra for a car I didn't want, and the $100 in gas in 3 days. And that I requested a 4 cylinder. At this point some OTHER guy jumps in and says "THAT CAR IS A 4 CYLINDER." And I said "No, the car is called a G6, because it is a V6." After arguing with him about it for 10 minutes I walk outside and look at the back of the car where it says "V6".

I never got my deposit of $50 back and I didn't even bother calling. Worst experience of my life!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car fraud and scam

I rented a car from Enterprise Rent a Car, located at Brent Brown Toyota in Provo, UT. What a scammer (not to mention *) the manager of this location is! He charged me for 3 days beyond the day I returned the car! I went in to the store as well as phoned several times in an attempt to clear up the mistake. He called me a liar, told me that I was stupid, & refused to help me. He even went off on me in front of another customer! His name is Nelson Fotu & he is a dishonest, disrespectful, rude, & ignorant person! (not to mention ugly)! I will absolutely NEVER, EVER rent a car from Enterprise... all thanks to Nelson Fu* You!

Our car was rear-ended, we took it to Service King Collision in Arlington TX to be repaired as per the faulty driver's insurance company(State Farm). As part of the coverage, State Farm provided us with a rental car for the duration of the repair. In the Service King Collision front office, there is an Enterprise Car-Rental office. Sean (We don't know his last name) told me that if I wrecked the car it would not be insured unless I purchased insurance through Enterprise. The charge for the insurance was $15 a day. The repairs took 10 days, the final charge was $190. I found out afterwords that my full coverage insurance would have covered this car in an accident. I was intentionally misled by Sean at Enterprise. I would like the $190 refunded back to me.

Never again will i rent from Loveland, Colorado Enterprise..Their employees basically do not know what they are talking about, the agent who assisted us gave us false information regarding extra coverage saying it was a one time fee and thats the only reason why we add that coverage thinking it was a good deal and upon returning the vehicle of course they told us it was something different printed in our contract..We should have listened to our gut instinct when we were outside the parking lot prior to renting from Enterprise, a car drove by and someone yelled out to us not to rent at Enterprise coz its a ripp off..should have listened and went somewhere else..

i cant agree with you more. My father was given a damaged car and he is 70 and drives very well. They rushed through the car damages when given the car to him but when he returned the car, the guy went through every corner of the car and pointed every dent and tiny scratch to him. My father did not bother to look through the tiny scratches as while renting they said we do not charge for small marks. But they they deducted a huge amount from his deposit from those 7 tiny marks. I am never going to them. Also, the manager was very disrespectful to my father when he asked about it. I do not respect enterprise for running a SCAM. Wonder how do they sleep in night by ripping off honest people like that?! I have completely stopped renting from Enterprise. I have heard from neighbours similar stories about Enterprise (near Hanger lane tube station).

Total Scam Enterprise! One of my friend got duped by enterprise for paying for the dents which were already there when she rented the car. The bill was from the same repair shop. They lure customers by cheap prices but give them a dent full damaged car, bad steering, horrible brakes but make money by getting their "favorite repairshop" get the damage bill charges from the customers! Pls DO NOT RENT from London- PARK ROYAL ENTERPRISE!

I was majorly deceived by Enterprise recently, and I am seeing on the internet today just how incredibly many other people were. I was charged for insurance I did not ask for, and a worker lied to me about where the supposed suporting policy is stated. Enterprise is a scam. Somebody please do a news story on this!

I recently rented a car for more than one week because my vehicle broke down on I-35 and the dealer called enterprise for me. A lady came to pick me up from dealership and offered me a tiny stinky car without asking anything from me. When I argued I want to rent a bigger car she said that's the one dealer has reserved for me (plain non-sense and a # - I dont have any coverage through that dealer). I asked to upgrade the class and that I was going to pay for it but she refused and said they dont have any other cars in stock (I could see atleast 5 cars in the lot).

Worst thing is she did not mention how much it was going to cost and had put $17.99 per day as a basic coverage. When I said I have insurance and I dont need it she said I still need it and that if I want to cancel it I can cancel by calling anytime or by calling I can upgrade the vehicle too.

It ended up being $600+ for 10 days rental for a car which was not worth $10/day. I kept calling to upgrade and to remove basic coverage but they kept asking that I need to be physically present in order to do that and they knew it will never happen since I was a resident of San Antonio (who drives 100 miles to go and get an upgraded car and to remove the coverage?)

Unethical and bad business practices. These guys are not transparent.

My friends, the scam has expanded to Canada, here in Quebec I was ripped off the same way, they made take the Collision Damage insurance without telling me what I was signing for and ended up charging me a hundred bucks for something I didn't agree.

The guy told me it was an authorization to "freeze" a certain amount in my credit card so it would cover potencial damages to the car, he never mention that I had to pay something else from my pocket.

Even if I argued with them and told them I didn't agree when I returned the car, they charged me anyway.

I would like to fight back. but I really don't know how, does anybody has a suggestion ?, or are we powerless against these scams...

Enterprise is extremely corrupt. I paid for 5 days of their insurance and was charged for13 days that I never agreed to (but negotiated down to 6 days after the manager blatantly lied to me). There is no legal contract without agreement from both parties! The manager conned me by telling me in front of a room full of customers that I did agree because of a clause in the fine print on the back of the contract. It turned out that the clause was not there... after I paid for what I never agreed to. They were really dishonest in other ways too.

I ask all of you to start chain emails about what a corrupt business the #1 car rental company in the United States is. It should be a huge news story, but it is not... YET. So I also ask you to send emails to news organizations, particularly Dateline and 20/20. Please also get as many other screwed over customers as you can to alert the news organizations about the corrupt business called Enterprise. Plus, the United States Attorney General's Office needs to know just how major this problem is. There are even web sites that are all about the corruption of Enterprise and how they treat their customers. This is big time. Let's spread the word as far as it can go! There is a lot you can do. I AGREE, I HAVE RECENTLY RENTED A CAR THROUGH ENTERPRISE. I'M NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THE CAR, IT WAS A DODGE CHARGER; BUT IT SMELLED LIKE SMOKE BAD! THERE WERE BURN HOLES IN THE SEATS ALL OVER! THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON! NEVER RENT FROM ENTERPRISE, THEY ARE TOO EXPENSIVE

Enterprise Rent-A-Car unauthorized billing

The rental fees charged by the airport center are extreme. After the initial rental fee from the rental car company, there is:

1) "consolidated facility charge" — ok, every company's rent passed on the the consumer;
2) "transportation facility charge" — ok, the bus that gets you there;
3) "arena fee" — what is this?
4) "vehicle license fee recovery" — what is this? I didn't lose my license;
5) "concession fee recovery" — what concession?
6) "sales tax" — just more of the above but described with a little more honesty?

I recently rented a car in kc and these taxes added over $100 to the final bill.

FYI, license recovery fee is for the plates on the vehicle and usually is a flat per-rental fee of around $2.00. Most of the remainder of what you list is airport fees. If you don't like them - if they're too expensive - take a cab off-site and rent from a neighborhood location... Cab fare both ways should be less than $100 in most cases.

Are you completely naive or do you really think that you can purchase a service without paying sales taxes! Arena fees, concession fees, and sales tax are all local or state taxes. Why don't you do some research next time so you do not sound uneducated to the masses!
