I`ve been buying everpet dog food for awhile.I stopped buying because your company changed it all up.Know it looks cheap makes my dogs get sick ect.I think it is sad that your company took a good knock off brand and made it the worst dog food ever!I will be sure to let all my family and friends know that i wouldn`t use or endorse this product ever again. My animals depend on me to get them good healthy and well balanced food and treats, I depend on companys to do their there part to deliver what they advertise.I dont know why yall changed your product but it was the worst call ever.It just looks cheap really cheap looks like i will be going back to my wal-mart local grocery store for my pets needs. Thank You Barbara Whitt

I bought the everpet dog food beef flavor with gravy. You add water to the dry dog food and mix it and the water turns into a gravy like thickness. I fed it to my 7 month old pup and she got really sick and threw up. That was 2 days ago and now she is getting worse. She won't drink water like she use to. Tonight I put water in a cup and forced her mouth open and tried to get her to drink and she only drank a very little bit. She just let the water run out of her mouth. I put some milk in a bowl and she drank a little bit. Today I gave her some steak and she wouldn't even eat it. I going to call the vet Monday 10/26/09 and inform them of the situation. If the vet asks me to bring her it and her sickness is linked to the dog food I will take further action. The dog food was new and it was her first bowl.

My doberman pinscher had 6 puppies & they are about 4 months old now. We only have two left because of the EverPet dog food. We had been feeding them this dog food for about a week now & one morning we got up & noticed that 2 of the puppies were VERY weak so we took them from the rest of the group and were making sure they kept getting plenty fluids. As the day went on we lost one & we noticed there were two more that weren't as purky and they were earlier that day. To make the long story short, we lost all 4 of them in one day. They were throwing up a lot & their poop was bloody and liquidy.

My sister bought Ever Pet dog Food from the Dollar Store. Both of her dogs are vomiting and have sever diarrhea. Both are acting as if they are starving to death, and can't seem to get enough water intake. We switched the food to another brand, and they are fine now. But, what an ordeal for these dogs who are like my sister's children to have to go through. I have never seen dogs so ill in my life.

Has anyone else noticed that the Ever Pet Dog food in the 20 pound bags has been pulled from the shelves at Dollar General? Also, has anyone noticed that the cuts N' Gravy seems to make healthy puppies sick and die? I just lost two Eskimos and have two more sick but on the mend since I stopped feeding them the cuts N' gravy. The older dogs, eating the dry food in the 20 pound green bag, have all developed a problem with excessive shedding and rash which looks like mange only no open sores.

Hi i am reading all these comments and am freaking out! We (like many others) are tight on money and I needed dog food. I bought my dogs the Everpet healthy version, and I have only fed them one bowl, but I am really worried.
After all of you had these problems, did you try to return the dog food back to the store? Would they except it?
Im sorry but I have read to many bad reviews to keep this food. If I have to borrow money to get Purina I will.
Thanks alot for the comments!

I read Kirstie Godfrey's post and cannot believe it. We had a financial setback and had to buy a bag of Everpet Gravy Kibbles. It was like a 20lb bag for $6 something. My 4 month old lab started getting sick Monday night and vomited all day yesterday. She wont touch food and is losing weight . She seemed better today and so I was gonna crush up the food and make a mush and see if she would eat it. I saw a little black hair in it and then looked closer and there are all these little black hairs but they look like bits of plastic cause they are hard . I decided to come in here and do a search and found this website. I am furious. My puppy depends on me to protect her. I feel so bad. Never again. I will go without if it means getting her the usual Purina Puppy Chow or Iams. I am gonna keep trying to feed her other stuff and if she is not better then we are taking her to the vet Friday. The company will be hearing from me though.

I just read the post. Even in hard times you don't feed a animal 6 to 7 dollar 20 pound bag of dog food. Also look at whats in the food. The first few ingredients should be some sort of meat if its not a vegetarian food. We have two dogs one would vomit even with name brand dog food so we switch it up we decided on Nature's Recipe Lamb flavor.

I saw the saw some Ever Pet today in the Dollar general- First two ingredients corn meal and chicken filler that could be the main reason your pets are getting sick. Try what I did and see if your pets feel better. If you can't afford a big bag or the good stuff try a 10 pound bag with my Petco card its 9.99.

I just finished reading all your posts. I have an 8 month old boxer mix and I always feed him purina puppy chow and he never has had any problems. But we are in a money bind for a week or two so I HAD to buy him cheap food from dollar general . Since I have been feeding this food to him when he goes to the bathroom its completly white or bright yellow. He has been throwing up, and I have been giving him PLENTY of water but he keeps going into the bathtup and licks every drip of water he can get. Iread Malissa Duvall's post and I couldn't beleive she found little black hairs the the dog food so I just took a handful and looked through it and sure enough the are little black hairs EVERYWHERE! Its rediculous and disqusting! This is my first experience feeding my dog generic food and will deffinatly be the last. They will also be hearing from me. My puppy was perfectly healthy until I started feeding him whatever is in that bag!

All kibble is bad for your pets. Think about it...it is NOT natural. I learned the hard way, I lost 9 of my cats to liver and kidney failure last year. All of them within a 2 week span. When I decided to research this, to find out what could have done this to so many of my cats, I found out what actually goes into kibble. Euthanized pets, roadkill, feces, diseased animals, euthanized zoo animals, tumors...it's awful. And they try to hide it. If your food, treats, or vitamins have "animal digest" in them, it's exactly what it sounds like. Excrement. My remaining cats, and my three dogs have a natural diet now, and it's solved so many problems.

Don't understand why anyone would buy their pet cheap dog food...All I can say is shame on you...if you can't afford a good brand of dog food don't have a pet...

Yeah, "peaches"; better to let all of the unwanted strays be euthanized than live a possibly shorter, yet happy life eating Old Roy...
We should fix poor people, too, right?! I mean, if all one can afford to feed their kids is mac and cheese and canned vegetables, they shouldn't be allowed to breed, either? Unfortunately, your logic is elitist tripe. There are pets and children that are unwanted and abandoned. Just because a person is too poor to buy nutro or organic produce, doesn't make them unfit to care for either.
Now, having said this, I admit, I don't entirely disagree with you. I just think a little research and self education could solve this quandry. There are ways to make, or supplement less expensive pet food, just as there are ways to eat healthy human food on a sparse budget. It simply takes old fashioned ingenuity, and a willingness to explore the field of nutrition.

Guess it did sound a bit harsh!

If people who own animals would spay and neuter them would be less animals roaming the streets that will need homes. Should be a law...you own a pet you spay/neuter.

What we need to do is fix the people who have a bunch of kids that can't afford them who are sponging off the government.

the reason you guyses pets are getting sick is what they put into the foods. look at the ingredients. this dog food is mainly made out of corn and by-products ( things not suited for human consumption, like heads, hoofs, chicken feathers, intestines, etc.) dogs are carnivores. they can survive, but defenetly not thrive on a food that is made mainly out of corn and by products. The thing you should be most wary of, is the ingrident called "meat and bone meal", which in reality sometimes has euthanized dogs and cats in it, which being bad not only because it means your dog is eating its own kind, but because the animals still have high levels of the drug used to euthanize them in their bodies when they are put into the dog food!

We have been getting our dogs everpet dog foof from dollar general for quite awhile! They seemed to tolerate it until lately. Went to fill up dog food dishes last night and it was/moldy-what a shock! We had the bag for less than a week and had been noticing our dogs occasional vomiting and diarrhea, but thought it was do to the weather. Definitely going to change to something BETTER!

I have had better experience with Everpet. I started giving my 5 dogs the Dollar General brand, Everpet Adult Basics dry food about two months ago. I did notice they were pulling the very large bags off the shelf and questioned the store manager. He said they were having a sale.

So far I haven't had any bad experience with Adult Basics dry EverPet.

I'd have to say when I bought the first bag of ever pet Healthy my dogs loved it, but when I bought the second bag things have changed, they are not eating it like they did the first bag, and a few days ago my english bull mastiff was peeing green and now today he is peeing red. Looks just like the colors in the dog food. I'm throwing this bag away and buying purina again. I have always feed my dogs black gold, but I moved and can't find it here, I have tried all different kinds of dog food and my dogs just keep loosing weight. I don't know what I'm gonna do.

I myself buy purina for my chihuahua but my mom has taken in a couple strays and cant afford name brand dog food and used to buy Old Yeller dog food from Krogers but when the prices went up she went to Everpet. I remember her calling me telling me her dogs were becoming very gassy *the inside dogs* her sheltie/shepard mix was vomiting a lot, and they was loosing weight drastically. Needless to say she wondered if it was the dog food and switched back to the old yeller food. They stopped all previous problems and gained weight. I got curious about it and I'm glad I looked it up! As far as I can tell Old yeller is good dog food, but yet to look it up. I think I will stick to my Purina Little Bites dog food for my chihuahua. But as for what that one person said about if you cant afford good dog food then dont get a dog. What matters is if the dog is healthy and loved, not what brand it eats. My moms dogs might be fed cheap dogfood but they are healthy and very loved!

We have been giving our dogs everpet for awhile now and we have had no problems with them at all. We have a pug and a beagle and take very good care in what we feed them. They are happy and have had not one problem with everpet since we have been feeding them this food and treats. we did how ever have problems with dollar store cheap food in the red bag we lost our little pom that was 8 yrs old after feeding them the cheap red bag from dollar store. and if there was at all any recalls on everpet stores that sell this type of food would not sell it they have a scanner at most stores now that tell them there is a recall on that type of food.

Well for all of you that don't realize the quality of dog food, if you can buy it in a supermarket, walmart or a DOLLAR STORE its obviously not good for your pet. It's like feeding fast food to your dogs every single day. What does that to our bodies ? It causes health problems and weight gain. Those stores do not carry premium brands and are of horrible quality. If you think Iams, Science diet, purina, beneful or proplan are good food choices...you are wrong again. they all use by products and fillers which have no nutritional value. If you want your dogs to live a healthy long life you should consider shopping at a pet speciality store such as petsmart or petco. They carry several food brands. You must look at the natural, holistic and organic formulas. Some actually cost as much as your low cost brands and are nutritionally complete for your pet. If you love your dog PLEASE SWITCH YOUR FOOD. Some excellent brands to look into are natural balance, wellness, solid gold, natures recipe, nutro, and blue buffalo. And during puppy growth, that is a very critical time..stray away from anything that is low grade. they will get severely sick. they're immune systems are low and digestive systems are very sensitive.

It does matter what brand you feed your dog. The commercials on tv promoting these foods are so decieving. they'll sell you anything. Such as beneful...they show all bright colors on the bag and vegetables but there food is nothing like that. read the ingredients. If the first ingredient isn't a meat such as chicken, turkey, lamb (not a by product of the meat) then that food is total crap. In most low grade foods the first ingredient is corn...which can make your dog very gassy and cause digestive problems.Thats not what you want to look for. Your dog may be fine now, as your feeding a low grade brand, but will most likely have problems in the future.

I was feeding ever pet to my 2 year old American Bulldog. Yesterday he had the runs and vomiting. This morning when we woke up he was having small seizures, we tried to get him to the vet. Before we could leave he died. He was a healthy, happy dog before we gave him the ever pet dog food. I just wont everyone to know to never feed them ever pet.

I have two akc/aca regestered miniture schnauzers that are like family. We started feeding them everpet dog food not to long ago. On the day of janurary 7th, 2011 we noticed that our male dog was not playing like he usually do.Later that night our female started acting different, next thing we know she started running back and forth and not minding. We kept calling her and trying to get her to stop acting like she was, she started shaking and got very sick. We took her to the vet and they could not figure out what was wrong with her. I got on the internet and done some homework on everpet dogfood, we found out that their is several people has lost their pets because it made them sick and they had seizers and died.I was just adding to everyones comments to let them know that we might end up losing our dogs because of EVERPET DOGFOOD. We have 2 Dachunds, Jazz & Indy. Jazz was 5 years old and Indy his mother is 7. I started feeding them Everpet 3 months ago. In December one morning I was letting them out of the cage, they are caged at night, and Jazz could not use his hind legs and he started having seizures and would not drink or eat. I took him to the vet and they said that it was common in this breed to have back problems. I have had this breed all my life and never saw this in them. 3 days later Jazz died of Kidney failure. One week later Indy stopped using her hind legs as well. I threw away Everpet and started feeding her Tuna/ chicken breast mix with a little chicken broth and homemade veggie soup. She perked right back up! But she still has not gained control of her hind legs yet and I fear she never will. I will never feed my pets any brand of dogfood again. Canned tuna and canned chicken breast is relatively cheap in bulk as well as chicken broth and everyone loves homemade veggie soup. For large breeds it would be expensive, but for small breeds the cost is comparable as I feed once a day to maintain her weight.

I talked with my friend over the past couple months and just a few weeks ago his dog became ill. The dog started out sick diareah and throwing up. Then wouldnt eat or drink water and couldnt hardly stand because of his hind legs. When he did he was wobbly. He had to have the dog put down today. His brother took his sick dog to the vet and the vet told him it was the dog food. They were both feeding their dogs everpet. Somehow the name dont fit does it. Unless they mean ever sick or ever dead. If you are using this product you may want to stop. Not when the bag is empty right away.

I just bought a bag of Ever Pet premium chunk the other day. I usually don't get it, but decided to get it to tie us over till grocery day. The 1st day I gave it to my schnauzer that evening she started vomiting. Not thinking it's the dog food I gave her some the next day. Big mistake, she has vomited since then with a few loose stools. Today I did not give her any, she vomited this morning with what looks like the rest of that food.

Needless to say... The almost full bag is going in trash, and I will get the expensive kind tomorrow( after studying the ingredients first) no animal digest or bone meal any more.. I am surprised Ever Pet has not been targeted with lawsuits, or massive complaints..

Are you kidding me ! I have been giving my dogs EVERPET canned food did not realize what was going on until I saw it being pulled so I researched it and found this. I am just sick to my stomach I feel like I have been slowly killing the animals I love with ALL my heart. I asked why this was not being restocked and at the DOLLAR store she said she did not know but they were not getting anymore. WOW I feel like CRAP and someone should be doing something about this legally. Like a CLASS ACTION suit.

My beloved dachshund of six years passed away this morning. Thursday evening gave him the ever-pet food, first time ever bought, at the dollar store. That night he started throwing up and passing blood, took him to the vet hospital Fri morning. They kept him overnight and sadly he did not make it. I'm very heartbroken. Did not know dog food could cause death for a dog!

I bought EverPet Moist and Meaty for my 10 week old Shih tzu puppy. After 1 bowl, he is sick. WEAK! Looks like he is dying. Will not drink. Laid over as if he has no pep. This is my baby's puppy. He better not die. Or you will HEAR from me and my lawyers. I trusted your product. And I see it's an on going issue. It's bull. I was strapped for cash and got what I could one time. ONE TIME! This puppy doesn't deserve to be in this shape. I'm now having to take him to an emergency pet hospital. If it's in regards to your product, you WILL pay the bill.

We bought the EverPet puppy food in the blue bag for my 1 year old Mini Dachshund min pin mix. She is extremely sick. Vomiting, unable to control her bowels, very wobbly when she tries to walk and doesn't have any energy and she is nursing 3 puppies! We are getting her looked at and hopefully the puppies will be okay. The one time we didn't get her Purina and this happens. I feel horrible and I am scared for my dog and her pups. I let all my friends and family members know not to buy this poison for their pets.

I have five toy poodles and u all are big cry baby and drama queens! u are the one that is making your dog sick by looking at u! My dogs love ever pet and they love their food, They are perfectly healthy and look forward to getting their food and snacks. Some people just love to complain I am sure it is not the food in most cases it is the owner. It is awful funny how most of you that are complaining have been feeding your dog this for awhile and all of the sudden it is sick come on! My dogs are some of the most expensive dogs you can buy and they are not sick their hair is not falling out oh by the way stress can do that to a dog might want to check in to that. In today's society everyone wants to complain and sue it is really sad an animal can get sick because of numerous things u can't just point your finger at a dog food brand and know for sure that is what is making your dog sick. Well on another note my dogs love the food and have never had any problems with it. You know maybe it is because you are feeding your dogs steak or giving them tap water in which is a big no no. Also for the one that likes to judge people and say people should not have a dog if you can't buy the best food just don't put your opinions on here because u are an idiot that should not be able to have a dog u do not need an animal u need a check shame on u! I give it a thumbs up don't believe everything u hear some people just love to complain I recommend giving them the snacks chicken chips all my dogs love them I have two four year old, two two year old and a 9 month old they have never been sick or peed green or red and they love them!
