January 31, 2024. I need to unfreeze my credit report in order to apply for a loan.
I have made multiple attempts to temporarily unfreeze my credit report. I cannot log into my account on the website because it does not recognize my username, email address, or password. When I attempt to reset my password or username, it still does not recognize my username, email address, or password.
When I call their customer service number, the robot recognizes me and the unlock pin they provided when I set up my account. It then allows me to unfreeze my credit report and gives me a confirmation number. However, when I then check from one of my online security accounts, the credit report appears to still be locked.
There is no way to speak to a human representative at Experian to request help either with confirming whether my credit report is locked/unlocked. Repeated failed attempts to unfreeze my credit report has resulted in being denied the loan and a severe impact to my credit score, which was, until this incident, rated at 833.
Experian is extraordinarily difficult to do business with because of the problems with managing credit report freezes. As a result of their cavalier disregard for their customers, they inflict significant damage on my ability to obtain credit when needed.
Desired outcome: Because most creditors require my Experian credit report to be unfrozen during the application process, I want Experian to provide a contact number a human representative to help fix the login problems with my account.
