FirstEnergy Service - August 25 - between the hours of 8:30 - 9:00 a.m.

On August 25th, the electrical meter reader/ came to my house.

I had let my tiny brown dachshund into the back yard, and I come back inside the house for a few minutes. When I came into the house,

Unknown to me the Meter Reader had come into the back of the house where the electric meter is located.

I heard my little brown dachshund was terribly upset and barking at this particular guy, As he was trying to get the gate open to leave, at the same time he was pushing her with his boot and his leg, at this time I poked my head out the back door and watched this,"His words to her were as follows "If you were my little dog" I would...I was standing at the door and heard this and I came out the door and said "you would do what?

This incident was disturbing.

Sharon Denise Richards

Desired outcome: I would request at this time another person read my meter in the future.I would also request a reprimand letter in his person personnel file.

FirstEnergy Electric bill

Every time I have to have a meter reading a meter reader contacts me to meet me at the house and they never show up on time so they ask for a text picture of the meter so I send one to the meter reader and I also send one to First Energy messenger so there's a copy at the office and with the reader well this time around I got a bill for $658 this has been an ongoing problem. I don't believe the picture of the meter reading reflects that type of cost owed I believe it was a new guy meter reader this bill showed up after I had already paid my bill the $658 was added on as an extra bill on top of my monthly bill I just paid my messenger texts to the office reflect my bills paid.

Desired outcome: Adjust my bill accordingly

FirstEnergy Unauthorized taking funds from our checking account,

Edit

Description of Complaint:

Truist bank cashed an unauthorized $676.03 money request from our checking

account from First Energy Corp of the Altoona submitted on April 13th,2023

without even attempting to confirm with us this was a proper authorized

transaction. A couple of years ago, we had attempted to help out my mother

and brother (Ruby lee Jenkins and Eric Jenkins)with a utility bill by providing First Energy with our

requested bank checking account for just this one time limited transaction

again from a couple of years ago. There was no authorization for the

recent transaction to First Energy. Attempted to have Truist asap reverse

the mistake; difficulties understanding the fraud representatives. They

seem to indicate they would send me some papers in two weeks to complete a

request for a fraud investigation. Meanwhile also charge my account

additional fees for their mistake processing the unauthorized cash to

First Energy!

Desired outcome: Return the unauthorized funds taken from our checking account.

FirstEnergy Forestry services

Davey Tree trimmed trees along power line route over the Summer. Branches were touching service to house wires before and after this visit. Called Davey Tree and spoke to foreman, but he hung up on me. Left message with Forestry Services and they inspected problem on 11.7.22. Forestry left a hang tag stating that there was a problem and that they would correct within 21 days. This was also told to my wife during that inspection. I noticed Asplundh was at 16 Parkview (next door) on 11.30.22 scratching their heads wondering why they were called; after a few minutes all five of the crew looked at my neighbors' wires and trimmed a very small piece of ivy touching near her power wires. After they left, I asked my neighbor about this, and she stated that she did not call them. After speaking to Asplundh, it was determined that this crew went to the wrong house. After repeated attempts to contact Forestry through Asplundh, the problem still remains branches are touching wires, and several are about to touch wires. Now a winter storm is approaching, and I may have to climb the tree to trim the branches myself. I have no way to call Forestry Services myself. This problem has already caused one power outage for my street, and I fear it may happen again this weekend when strong winds, below freezing temps, and icing conditions are forecast.

Desired outcome: TRIM BRANCHES ON AND NEAR SERVICE TO HOUSE WIRES ASAP.

FirstEnergy forestry department

My problem surrounds my neighbors' trees that are impeding on the electrical lines in my yard. Typically, I have a company come out and trim the lines back so that there is not a problem however, no one will do it since the pandemic and have been advised to contact the electric company. Please note that the trees' limbs are resting on the line. Today, 21 Sep 22 a gentleman came by my home at 207pm to talk about the tree. He began to tell me that the tree was not the responsible of the light company and i need to hire someone who is line certified to take care of the tree. He also said it would be someone that the light company has employed or contracted. So, I said you all have delegated your responsibility down to a company to make them pay that sounds bootleg or janky. I told him that I would like it in writing and told me to hold on. When he came back, he handed me a card with instructions on how it was my responsibility to take care of the tree. On the back it explained the difference between the lines. It also stated that they would take care of it during the normal maintenance season. I asked for explanation, and he said they would come around in 2024 I said really, I have an email that sates maintenance is to be done in my area around 23. So, I asked him to explain the diagram because he said the tree had to be on the line or broken. When I replied that the limb is on the line, he said that's what he was told to say, so I asked for his name so I could have a reference and he said No. I said well this doesn't make since you don't have on a badge no company shirt and there is nothing on his truck to signify, he is from first energy. Additionally, his plate states he is from Pennsylvania. I am not sure what protocol is but there is a huge problem. No id, no company insignia nowhere. Furthermore, I still have a tree problem and he also said that it could be a problem down the street somewhere, but if you are not trimming the tree in my yard, I am sure you are neglecting the rest of the neighborhood.

Desired outcome: I would like the tree limbs trimmed back so that it does not pose a risk me and my family's access to electricity.

FirstEnergy New service work order #[protected]

Work order # [protected]

New Service

Hours on hold, multiple internal transfers and no one seems to know how to assist, or they do not care. I've been "hung up on" more time than I care to say. I've had a request in to West Penn Power to install a delineator (orange safety ball) on a powerline that crosses my backyard. There are two customer service lines, [protected] and [protected] (to report outages). I've call both to try and get someone to help me.

Bottom line... I need assistance for safety ball installation.

Thanks

Joseph Narrigan

Desired outcome: New Service delineator [protected]@gmail.com

FirstEnergy Light pollution

FirstEnergy decorated just beyond my backyard with multiple streetlights with unnecessary brightness and frequency with virtually no shades, having among other things, lights glaring into one of my bedrooms. This is not only polluting, but also is a violation of city lighting mandate.
Repeated emails only received automated acknowledgement, with zero action.
City officials are silent too.

Desired outcome: Respect environment, respect privacy, communicate

FirstEnergy My garage electric bill

My name is Ruth Hrivnak 4107 w 226th Street Fairview Park, Oh 44126 Home phone [protected].
About 20 some years ago we built a new garage and building inspector told us our house electric line would not be able to support the electricity from the garage and that we needed to have the garage on a separate line. Our bills for the garage were around $35 a month. Then all of a sudden they jumped up much higher. I called the electric co. numerous times over the years and was given the same response, I am being charged commercial rates and the only way to change this is either wire the electricity from the garage into the house which would mean rewireing everything or make the garage into living quarters.
My last bill for the garage is 107.89, my bills for the garage are now more than they are for the house! I contacted the PUCO on 8/31/21 Case no#[protected] and explained everything to them. They responded last week stating that the utility company is allowed to charge commercial rates because of a tarriff. They stated the only way to change this would be to change the garage into living quarters or rewire the garage to the house in one line. This is ridiculous! How are they allowed to get away with this? This has been going on for years but now the garage bills are higher than the house and nothing is even running in the garage all day! Please can you help us?

Desired outcome: To be charged residential rates because this is a residence not a business! All the money they over charged would be nice too!

Between July 14th and July 22nd. A crew cleared my tree from the wires and mutilated the tree. Shortly after they left, a huge branch and some limbs which were not properly removed actually fell out of the tree. I was not home when they came I was attending a funeral. I am stuck with all the mess. My township will not come to pick it up. My tree is going to have to be removed it is so ugly now. I have photos but I don't know how to send them. I will eventually when someone will help me.

FirstEnergy Massive increase in kwh - actual readings vs estimated

The issue started after covid-19 hit. The first concern was addressed in August 2020 when I received a $247.93 electric bill with an actual read of 1, 997 kwh used vs. past six estimated readings of no more than 155 kwh & a comparable bill from before covid-19 hit. I paid all the bills but had to split the August 2020 bill for payment. Average electric bill from the time the tenant moved in Sept. 2019 to February 2020 was around $25.00. This unit is a 580 sq foot studio style apartment. From August 2019 - February 2020 he used a total of about 1, 083 kwh before covid-19 hit. The highest bill was $51.24 for Oct. 2019 b/c his AC unit was broken. After that the average monthly bill ran no more than $25. Received monthly bills during covid-19 = estimated reads. Bills were no more then $24 with the highest KWH usage of 155. I get an actual read on 8/24/2020 of 1, 997 kwh and am told the last six months were estimates and this month was billed with the balance from the last six estimated reads and the actual read for August. Sept. & Oct. 2020 are estimates instead of actual reads. Usage for the month of September was 665 kwh estimated & October was 707 kwh estimated. The resident in this 580 sq. foot apartment has a small 990 kilw. microwave, small refrigerator - not even 6 feet tall, dishwasher, very old electric stove, two end table lamps, a tall lamp, one knight stand lamp all with energy saving light bulbs; one pedestal fans, one small desk fan, TV with cable box, AC wall unit & a small 5 cu. foot freezer. The stove and the dishwasher are rarely used. One lamp is usually on when home. There is NO hot water tank, no heater, & no washer & dryer. Very basic appliances that are hardly used. The resident is a full time college student and works part time. He leaves his apartment around 5:45am & returns around 2:30pm then leaves around 4:30pm for work & returns at 9:30pm weekly. When he is not home all lights etc. are off. I have called twice to have them re-read the meter and have requested that they test the meter for malfunctions due to the fact the meter is originally from 1965 per the customer service agent I spoke to. That is a 55 year old meter that most likely needs to be replaced. My request to have the meter inspected had not been completed therefore I believe racking up overwhelming inaccurate electric bills. Excuses of a pandemic is not acceptable for over charging. I personally live in a 1, 200 sq foot HOUSE...I have an HVAC unit, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, stove, over the stove size microwave, four ceiling fans, very large hot water tank, washer & dryer, full size deep freeze, four TV's with cable boxes, standard lighting with energy saving bulbs, 12 foot air compressor & attached full size garage and my electric bill for the month of October 2020 was $87.44. The electric bill for September 2020 was $91.24. The past four months before September average electric bill was no more than $110.00. Average temp. for the summer was 95 degrees. I cannot understand how the electric bill for a 580 sq. ft. studio apartment increased from an average kwh usage of about 155 kwh to about 400+ kwh a month during a pandemic and then 665 kwh for the month of September and 707 kwh for the month of October when the person is not even home for more than 8 hrs. a day. I understand due to covid-19, it is making things a bit challenging, but to have an major increase in KWH usage like this is extremely concerning especially when the housing unit is as small as it is and the occupant is not home more than 8 hrs. on an average day. I would appreciate it if I could get the meter tested thoroughly and a detail breakout of readings. I feel like because of covid-19 we are being taken advantage of during a pandemic and this is fraud. It seems like my concerns when expressed to The Illuminating company are not that important and covid-19 is the escape goat. The apartment complex has said they have access to the meters without being around people but they had not seen anybody in the past three months. The system here will not accept my PDF of invoices & docs.

Thank you kindly,
Nancy T.

My power has been off for 10 hours now and apparently it's take 9 hours to fix a problem I have children who are cold because the power is taking so long to get done. It's 230 am right now and was suppose to be back at 1230 am and now it's sayinf 430 am it's been pushed back 3 times this is absolutely ridiculous. And I don't understand how people can have no care in the world for families.
