A recent visit by a GE service person (who was replacing and fixing some parts on our dishwasher due to their recent recall) advised us on the class-action suit GE had regarding moisture problems with a certain line of refrigerators. After a brief look at ours he stated it was one on the list. I took the time to look up this class-action suit on GE refrigerators on the computer . I read an article on the extension given by a judge to consumers who were unaware of this suit. I made a call on Feb 28th for an appointment with a GE repairman to look at our refrigerator. After a brief call with his office, we were informed that they could not honor the class-action agreement of replacing the refrigerator doors, I asked why. Their response was that I responded to late, and they had a deadline, which was Mar 27th? I said I thought that they had extended any deadline for consumers who were unaware of this issue. They said that any further extension beyond Mar 27th would be that the consumer could still get the doors replaced, but for $600.00. Go figure? I will never buy another GE product again and will advise others to do the same.

Be careful they will keep offering warrenty work. We bought a Ge Side by side frig back in 2001 and we have nothing but problems with it from day one. The frig was only a yr old when we had our first problem then we had to have repair in 2003 and then we had 6 repirs done between 2006 an2007. There was a class action law suit on our frig and our frig should have been replaced but innstead of replacing (which they never offered to us) they kept repairing it under warrenty. But know the frig has to be completely replaced . So bve creful on what they do for.
It is been two years my GE refrigerator had passed through several repairs, GE quality sure has taken for the worse, in other words of the repairman most of our repair calls are on GE products. The ice maker and defrost heater had been replace recently and cost me $300, to top it still the doors need replacing (no idea what will be the cost for replacing doors.) The GE products are of poor quality as I know of many other instances where their product failed. I sorry to comment bad about GE products but they are too bad and they does not care to fix the problem just offer extended warranty's!.
Purchased defective washing machine from Home Deposit 2 years ago. Product was always "fussy" but struggled through washing cycles. Two years into ownership the product died. I would think that a $700 washing machine would last more than two years!
GE appliance is the worst in operation, and the repair department is even worst.
I purchased GE dishwasher and it never worked properly and thei tech dept is worst in handling situation
Beware of GE and its warranty! Only 4 years old, warranty says all "sealed refrigeration systems" are covered for 5 years. Wouldn't that also include whatever system actually causes the unit to cool and freeze? Apparently not! The lights come on, the display is on, the compressor is running, but the food is WARM. And yes, we get to pay for the repair. And to think just 2 months ago my sister bought GE on my recommendation. Hopefully she doesn't find out the hard way.
Placed a call on 7/1/2013 regarding a refrigerator that was not cooling. (This had taken place on 6/30/2013 but as you cannot report an outage on the week-end, I had to wait until Monday AM (7/l/2013) You have an EMERGENCY and you still have to jump through hoops, not with just one person but possibly 2 or 3. When a refrigerator goes out you need SERVICE THEN NOT the next day or the next day! It is a different situation with a washer, dryer, water heater, stove or oven but you stand to lose everything in your refrigerator if you cannot get a service person right away. When GE was handling their maintenance contracts, these problems DID NOT exist. This is about the last straw. I Your systems needs to be overhauled, streamlined for faster service.
On December 26 2007 I bought (on line) a 12 year 50 gallon electric water heater from Home Depot and included an unlimited warranty in the purchase. I paid $1071 with a credit card for the tank and installation. Home Depot assigned the installation to a national firm. They came to my home on 12/26 to install it. My electrical wiring did not have a proper cut-off switch so I had to have an electrician rewire my closet area before the tank could be finished. The next day the plumber came back to complete the job only to find that the tank was defective. The plumber had to wait on the phone for over four hours to get authorization from GE to obtain a replacement water tank, subjecting him the most rigorous testing to ascertain that the tank really was defective. The plumber went to Home Depot and secured a second tank. The final install was completed on January 8, 2008. We were without hot water for over two weeks. Now the newer tank has malfunctioned. I called GE who claimed that my tank was out of warranty so it wasn't their responsibility to repair it. GE recommended I take a circuit tester to see if the tank had defective elements. I explained I knew nothing about testing and that's why I hired the installment done in the first place. They denied liability! They said I should hire a contractor(sid) to check it out. I then called Home Depot's extended warranty department. They had no record I had purchased a tank or a warranty. Fortunately I kept all the documentation and credit card evidence and with the help of a VERY dedicated store manager at store Home Depot 3902 in Oklahoma City I was able to prove my purchase through her. By the way she was cut off her call after being on the phone for over 15 minutes! Finally I have evidence of my extended warranty and a plumber has been assigned to repair my water tank. GE could use some training of their personnel and so could Home Depot's Extended Warranty Department.
We have a ge double door refrigerator/freezer that is three yeaars old. whenever the electricity goes out the melted ice drips onto the floor (this is within 5 hours). The first time it happened we were not home for four days after the outage.. What happened next was a ruined hardwood floor that has to be replaced throughout the 1000 square feet of continuous flooring. we at first thought this was a fluke until this past week when it happened again. it is an important flaw in the design of the ice box.
I purchased the GE front load washer and dryer two years ago and also paid another $500 for the five-year extended warrantee.
The wash machine does not properly drain the clothes, is causing my electric bill to go up with all the extra spin cycles, the service department has been here three or four times and the computer board has been replaced once. I wish I had my old machine back as this one was a total waste of money. I will NOT be purchasing another product from GE as I paid way to much for something that doesn't work...I would like to replace this piece of junk for a new top loading wash machine but Sears repair says they haven't had the repair man here enough yet to call it a lemon. All I know is this machine has cost me a lot of money and it sure does NOT save energy and I don't think anyone should purchase one...I wish I had never done so.
We have a GE fridge with icemaker. A small plastic part on the "ice maker assembly" broke a few months out of warranty. This 3-cent piece of plastic keeps the cubes from jamming as they eject.
While GE sells all kinds of parts for the icemaker, they do NOT sell this little plastic piece separately - to get one, they want you to purchase a whole new ice maker assembly ($142 list). They offered one at $50 + shipping/handling/insurance after I complained to the supervisor.
You know, I was extremely calm and reasonable and asked her why they couldn't provide such a simple piece - why they would screw a customer over a piece that literally costs them 3 cents to make in China, knowing that I would go out and complain to every person I know, including a personal web site that gets 1 million hits a month.
They can't just do the Right Thing here. I will NEVER buy another GE product in my lifetime, and neither will anyone I know if I can help it.
I have had GE products for years and years. NO MORE! I had a service man "fix" my dishwasher by being at my home for less than 15 minutes. (He sat in his truck for the first 4) opened the air gap (not even with a tool) took out some food, screwed the cap back on and charged over $225. It was not his fault, he was just doing what the company wanted. Greedy companies that overcharge and say in all their advertisements and even when you are on hold for hours, that you the customer are important and they care!
AMERICAN CEO's be your own customer, get off your executive planes, get out of your fancy offices and be your own customer. You won't like it. So when GE has their downfall in this awful economy don't go wondering why. The customer means nothing to them it is all about $ and how much they can get from us.
Please be aware that if he spent some time and actually worked hard, I would have no problem paying this. But a twist and a retwist is not acceptable.
I will find other companies that make kitchen appliances.
General electric products are the worst of the worst.
They are all IDIOTS, BEEN TRYING FOR WEEKS FOR SOMEBODY TO COME OUT AND FIX MY FRIDGE! They keep CANCELING my appointments! i have already made THREE, and they have NOT showed up for ANY OF THEM! LAZY BUNCH OF IDIOTS! I will never use their company for ANYTHING again..
GE MONOGRAM SYSTEM. I purchased the entire monogram system, stove top, double oven with trivection, advantium, warmer, dishwasher and refrigerator. This all seemed a good idea, but is fastly turning into a horror story, GE DDOES NOT STAND BEHING THEIR PRODUCT NOT WORKMANSHIP. GE CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIFICALLY THE MONOGRAM AREA NEED A FEW CLASSES IN CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS... LEFT WITHOUT A WORKING APPLIANCE, PROMISED PARTS, NEVER RECEIVED AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I simply did not expect this type of service from General Electric Company. It's obvious this is not the same company, has it changed hands and unknown to the consumer?
We purchased a new g. e. washer and dryer, the washer went haywire after 6 wks, , , and the repairman wants us to repair it over the phone, , , , too lazy to come out and check it.will NOT PURCHASE A GE APPL, AGAIN OR RECOMEND THEM, , , , we tried for two weeks to get in touch ge and then the repairman didnt call for a wk, then wants us to do service checks over phone, im disabled and cannot move appl, around, my wife cannot either, , , some *** stuff like unplug washer open lid 5 times and close, , the machine is making loud noises, i dont think this is a good repair, , , KINDA *** I THINK.
I bought a dryer homedepot paint in whole lint catcher all chipped weeks after, stopped producing heat, wasted over $200 machine worked 2 week sbroke again. store and ge cheated me even parts were cheeaper then i wa charged on line!I have 6 children I cant afford to buy another dryer I was lied to paint has lead ge and store didnt care or offere to fix. this is factory defect. email me back or im going better business bureau/internet news. homedepot and Ge are liars. Life is hard and I spent alot of money buying this machine cause I needed it Ive been without a dryer using my moms and going to laundry mats for six months now. its hard Ive written letetr to homedepot and Ge no one has answered me, where is consumer satisfaction first.
typical for GE, as they advertise quality and deliver garbage. I've had many issues with my side by side refrigerator, they come out to repair (never show up when the are supposed to), attempt to fix but don't and the problem persists, then I contact them again (this takes about 30-45 minutes on the phone - through there horrible phone system (that shows you how much they care) they send another repairman out and the same thing happens again. We've had 7 service calls and still they cannot fix. GE stands for GARBAGE!
We have a new GE built-in refrigerator. It's barely more than a year old. Last week, rather suddenly, the refrigerator started getting warmer, while the freezer compartment got colder. The refrigerator ended up hovering around 52 degrees, while the freezer is around -30 (our ice has ice on it, if you get the idea...) We called GE customer service and, first, were disappointed to find they work 9-5 Mon-Friday. Secondly, the best they can do is give you a half-day window when a repair person might show up. Because of work schedules, it took us days to get something on the calendar. When the tech guy finally showed up, he spent an hour fiddling around, eventually replacing a "temeperature sensor" and telling me it should normalize within 12-24 hours. It didn't. Nothing changed at all, except for the refrigerator getting a few degrees warmer.
What makes this more frustrating was the subsequent calls back to GE customer service. The rep seemed pretty nonchalant about the $150 in food that was spoiled and all of the inconvenience this has caused, and had an attitude like it's our problem we'd need to re-arrange work again for another appointment. She did finally say she'd try to get an "emergency rep" out on Friday. My wife explicitly instructed them to call her cell. No one ever called.
When you spend $5K on a refrigerator, and purchase the extra warranty, you expect more. First, you expect the product to work, not break down after a year. Second, you expect GE to treat you like a customer who has spent $5, 000 on a product. That includes working weekends if necessary so a family can store its fresh food. And on that point, they should be writing us a check for our groceries.
Miserable experience. Don't buy GE. They deserve--and no doubt eventually will--go the way of the America car company.
We are having the same problem. did they ever figure out what the problem was with yours? I will never buy GE again, but right now, it's what I have and I need a working fridge!
I received a GE dual handset phone for a Christmas gift 1.5 years ago. Over the past few months, the display screen has become so distorted on both handsets that I cannot read the information at all. I replaced both batteries and that does not work. I wrote an e-mail to the company and was sent an e-mail to call customer care. I did this, and was told to unplug my phone and plug it back in (rocket science for customer care). I told the woman that I had done that already and it did not work. Her response to that was "you will have to buy a new phone then." Fabulous customer service by my standards...I would never tell anyone something like that. This was followed up by saying that the cost of the repair is more than they would cover so nothing could be done. I am disgusted by the company and I can only recommend that nobody purchase any GE products. They give a one year warranty on electronics and that is it. In my opinion, a $150 phone should have a much longer life than mine has. Once again, they have absolutely no customer regard and I am extremely disappointed.
We have just recently purchased 3 GE appliances, a fridge, dishwasher and microwave. The first time we tried using the dishwasher the soap dispenser would not close. We contacted GE, they stated we should make sure it was in the off position and just to be extra sure, we were told to go ahead and set it for a cycle and let it complete on its on to make sure it was off. We tried this and of course the soap dispenser still will not close. My wife spent hours on the phone with GE trying to "REGISTER" our appliances, JUST FYI don't try registering anything after 5:00PM or you might as well place yourself on hold for several hours and even then you might not still be in the GE registration system. She was then referred to a local company for service (ALPHA SERVICES) who said she would have to be home from 8AM to 5PM waiting for the serviceman to come. Well at 5:30 she called them just to find out it would have to be rescheduled because the serviceman could not find our house. So we called GE again, they gave us another service provider and she called them, finally after being on the phone with them for another 45 minutes and almost in tears they agreed to come look at the appliance. I contact the individual we purchased the appliances from and one of their repair personnel stated the soap dispenser door was a well known problem and occurred during transport and/or during installation all the time. He used to fix them but since GE will not pay them they don't do that anymore.
So here we are, my wife is waiting at home again today for 8 hours waiting for someone who will probably never come. I am very dissatisfied with GE's level and service and care regarding an appliance that is less than 30 days old. I will never buy another GE appliance nor will I recommend them to any of my friends or acquaintances.
I replaced a 75 watt incandescent lamp in a ceiling fan fixture with one of these lamps, Part No. FLE 26HT3/2/SW expecting to get at least 3, 000 hours of life from it. I received service in the 150-200 hours range, being very generous in estimating the time. It may well have been as little as 120 hours. The lamp was not in use long enough to even gather any dust. It looks as good as it did when it came out of the package. Anyone who uses this type of lamp from GE should write the date in pencil or Sharpie on the base, when it is placed into service. And retain receipts. You will be needing every one of them.
When we built our home in 2000, I purchased built-in oven, gas cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, downdraft exhaust system. All were the GE Profile products. Subsequently, I also purchased a GE Profile Washing Machine.
What a mistake! All, with the exception of the downdraft, have been a huge disappointment and I will never purchase GE products for my home again. So far, I have replaced the microwave and had to do extensive and EXPENSIVE repairs on each of the other products, most recently replacing the timer on the washing machine when it was less than 4 years old. All of these repairs are costly and in a time when most Americans are more value conscious than ever before, it's a no-brainer to say that I will never buy GE again and will tell everyone I know the same. Also, GE stock... never. What a joke this company has become.
We have washing machine that isn't even a year old yet and we are wondering if we should get our warranty extended. They have already put in a new motor saying that they had problems with that motor, well it is acting up again. Is there any way we get a different washer and get rid of this one. I can't get my laundry done, it is still 7 days a week cause I can't use my large sizes of the washer. We are mad and are never going to get another brand that is a ge. We thought that they were good machines but they are terrible and awful. Some items we wash by hand instead of the washer anymore. Do we have to keep washing 7 days a week cause we don't get anything else done or can't go anywhere even with it washing while we are gone a short time cause we heard of someone that had the same problem as mine and had water all over the floor and that person was home at the time and we was warned about this. Just wondering what can be done we hate and we hate our washer. Can we replace or get some money back. Something has got to be done, it is also to be a quiet washer but it is not anymore. We are tired of calling the repairmen and it is not their fault cause it goes back to company. I don't even want to look at another ge washer and we still have our old dryer but I won't even look or come close to a ge in the store when I see one I back away and tell my husband to do so as well. He wanted to put the complaint in but I did and his would be alot worse then mine. I am so mad and aggravated when he comes home that he wants to go out the door again, he doesn't want to be in the house, all he has to do is look at me or the the kids as well or say did you do laundry today and we would say yes and he said doing the same thing and we would answer and yes is tired of it and don't need to come home to this and he wants to walk out.
