Desired outcome: To receive item free or receive $10 off for incorrect price.
Former retail manager here. The store is correct. The Scanner Code of Practice apples only to items without a price tag. It was instituted in the early days of scanning to deal with stores--mostly grocery stores--that marked prices on shelf signs, but prices were higher when scanned through at the cashier. The code is voluntary--not law--and stores are not required to participate.
Prior to the Code, mismatches in pricing were about 90% in the store's favour. After a few years, it dropped to about even at participating stores, which is equivalent to chance.
I don't know what the shape of the program is now, except that many stores don't train staff to deal with it, and fewer stores are participating. Mistakes are fewer and further between nowadays, as prices are much more automated.
I ordered a portable green house and was told it would be sent to the Giant Tiger store in Espanola within nine days, March 20!

I purchased an order from Giant Tiger online and the total for that purchase was $77.38. Giant Tiger immediately after purchase took or put a hold on 3 amounts in my bank account. The 3 amounts were $77.38, 72.86 and 29.93. I immediately contacted through their online contact page through their website, and also called and spoke to a representative named ***. The last email at 5.07pm that they sent me, stated they have released or reversed the other 2 amounts. First they did not want to even acknowledge the amounts they took, even with a screen shot of my bank account. This is not the first time, they have done this to me. They like to say it is their system, not correct. This has been done multiply times to me. The money has not been reversed, I will attached copy of my bank statement as proof. The withdrawals use a bot name, not even Giant Tiger. I have my storage fees to pay today, and if that money is not returned to my bank account, because I paid using a debit *** from my account. I have to pay $45 dollar late fee, and they still have not put my money back.

Dear Sir or Madam, I placed an online order with GT
Dear Sir or Madam, I placed an online order with GT. Immediately I received email confirmation of order. Credit card was charged also. 2 days later I received email, order has been cancelled. After numerous phone calls leaving voicemail with no response, I finally got through to a representative to voice my complaint, which was escalated to management and a call back to happen. But since then (2days) no reply at all. I believe this is very poor customer service practice, as I am an independent business person knowing if I treated my customers this way I would be out of business. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Regards

On November 2, I placed an online order through Giant Tiger's website. The order total was for $255.60 which I used my virtual *** (linked to my bank account) to pay for. At 11:51am AST, I get an alert from my *** stating a withdrawal was made for $255.30. At 2:00pm AST, the same day, I get another alert from my banking app stating a withdrawal of $244.39 was made. At 2:18pm AST, I get another alert stating a withdrawal of $231.09 has been made. This totalled $730.68 withdrawn from my account in less than three hours. I call the bank to ask what the two other charges are for, and was told all three are from the same company, listed as *** on my bank transactions. I'm informed that these were made as preauthorizations, and to contact the charging company to find out what's going on. I called the number listed for Customer Service on Giant Tiger's website seven times between 5:00pm AST and 6:00pm AST. I was transferred three times to a number that cannot be reached from my calling area, once I was told to call the store (the store told me to call the customer service number on the website), once I was hung up on, and the last call I asked to speak to a ***. I was informed by the *** that the number I called is a third party company that was hired by Giant Tiger to handle their online orders, but that their contract had ended October 19 with Giant Tiger. The *** placed me on hold, and phoned the customer service number I had previously been transferred to before, to encounter the same problem about being outside of the calling area. November 3, I call the number again with no results. I have left two voicemails on Giant Tigers "customer service" voicemail, I've contacted the social media team who supposedly sent an email to costumer service on my behalf, and I received one email in response this far, stating the charges are just preauthorizations and not actual charges so they'll just "fall off" in a few business days, based on my bank. At 11:32am AST today, November 3, I receive another alert from my banking app stating a withdrawal was made for $215.68 and I confirmed with the bank that it is also from ***. Giant Tiger has now "preauthorized" $946.36 through my bank account in less than 24 hours, leaving nothing left for me to buy food and provide for my family. I called my husband hysterical, who then called the Giant Tiger store here in ***, and spoke to a *** who is sending an email to find out what's going on. Before this last charge, I had sent multiple emails to Giant Tiger, requesting they cancel everything but still, no results.

I made an online order at 12.40am through giant tiger online store shipped to home address
I made an online order at 12.40am through giant tiger online store shipped to home address. They withdrew the amount of $117.30 the full amount of my purchase. Now there are 4 more charges from them all different amounts. Hours on the phone, being transferred to the wrong people, dissconnecting the call... the only answer that i am given is one I cannot accept is that they couldn't fulfill all orders online so sent item orders to different stores and each store is putting those items on hold on my card but I am using debit *** so it is withdrawing all of this extra money taking away my availability to my funds. I approved a hold of my full purchase I did not approve for more money held in different amounts for the same purchase that is already taken from my account. *** I have had zero resolution and while on these calls more charges were going through my account. I spoke with *** and he was seeing them pop up. It went from 2 extra charges to 5.

On November 30th I placed an online order with Giant Tiger
On November 30th I placed an online order with Giant Tiger. One of the items ordered was advertised as being on sale for $9, marked down from $17. It said this price was good only for online orders, so my order should have qualified. This was the item: Mountain Ridge Men's Black Micro Denier Thermal Bottoms - S-XL I assumed it was on sale because the only size left was XL, which was fine because that's what my husband needed. When I was looking at the shipping/ tracking notice a few days later, I noticed I was charged $17, not $9. I emailed customer service, who told me that I could not have a refund of the difference because I ordered when the price was still $17. No, I didn't, and no, it wasn't. I would not have ordered these at full price. I can't help it if their website was incorrect, and they didn't mean to have the sale price posted yet. The fact is they did, and I ordered based on that. I had thought better of Giant Tiger, but no more. It is not the amount of the price difference that has me upset, it is their refusal to honour their website prices. It is my fault for not noticing sooner, and just cancelling the order before it shipped. Lesson learned. Customer service believes I should trek into a store and return these, and rebuy at the proper price. Not the advice to give when we are being asked to stay home during a pandemic.
