I was excited to get a gym pass here as it was close to my house. When I did the initial walk through of the gym I was impressed and it looked like it was a great place.
I went a total of 3-5 times and every time i went the steam room was broken and it was weeks before it got fixed i did not keep going to wait for it to get fixed. People were even writing on the sign ( again) (when is this going to get fixed) (### managment) you would think they would change the sign after people wrote it...wrong.
Something like that happens and i understand this, but then i go to use the in house showers and they were disgusting. there was grim built up the floor inside and around the showers were slimy the show curtains were gross and made you not want to touch them at all let alone get naked and attempt to clean yourself from a workout here.
Management playing ripped off movies in the movie room off a hard drive, and when you tell someone behind the curtain about it they shrugged it off because its nothing new.
After a few visits with nothing changing at this gym i felt sick to my stomach i just signed up a contract so o blocked all future payments to this contract and refuse to pay. i am now seeking legal action to sue them for defaulting on their side of the contract.
When i contacted their upper office managment they offered me a buyout deal that was a fraction of what they wanted me to pay because they were afraid i will seek legal action.
I do plan to go to court now my credit is being dragged in the mud, so its time i fight back.

poor customer service
They lied about month-to-month contract which is actually an annual contract with monthly payment. Since i was stuck, i was trying to make the most of it, and i signed up for 12 sessions of personal training. During 6 sessions, trainer no showed once, then suit. I was assigned a different trainer, received 2 email confirmations, but the new trainer no showed. i left a message with the scheduling manager regarding the no show. i dId not receive any reply. so, i contacted the general manager. He said he would look into it, but He did not reply. I contacted him again, and he said he will investigate and get back to me but still No reply. I emailed him several times to cancel the remaining training session, but no reply to this date. They have the worst customer service. And they do not have a proper channel to file a complaint. They should not be in business.

very, very, very poor service
I have used gold's gym off and on for years, unfortunately the place has continued to go down hill. The staff are rude when you can find one, the equipment is in bad shape and getting worse, he upside is the other members who are all pretty nice. Aiken has a couple of other choices for gyms at this time, i would recommend looking into them instead of gold's. Probably was a nice place about twenty years ago but it has not been maintained and is in nasty unsafe shape. I would not stop here if your looking far a place to work out on a regular basis.
Also staff does not respond to calls, emails comments or suggestions. The owner is taking your money and going somewhere else to work out.

deception
Hi,
My name
Is yara catramby. I am 63 years old. I moved to florida from brazil 7 years ago
When my daughter got pregnant and needed my help, since she was still finishing
Law school.
I am writing
To you to describe you staff’s complete disregard for the health and well-being
Of others.
January
2014, I registered at the golds gym in deerfield beach – florida because my
Doctor found that my cholesterol prescribed exercises.
At the
Time of registration, I explained my health situation to your staff and I hired
A personal trainer. The first personal trained to assist me was called bill (Phone
# [protected]), who according to your staff, was highly recommended for health
Issues.
I took 4
Classes of 30 minutes each with bill with the last class taking place on
January 15, 2014. After this last class your staff called me explaining that
Bill had been fired because he was old and was outdated and that I would be
Better off with a portuguese speaking trainer. I was also told that your staff
Would contact me as soon as they could reschedule my classes with a new
Trainer. Since no one ever called me, I went to the gym to understand what was
Happening and told them that if they could not reschedule the classes they
Should stop charging me and the staff told me that even if I did not take the
Classes they would keep on charging me because a have a 1-year contract.
I told your
Staff that this was unfair because they were not providing the services I was
Paying for and your staff told me that they would reschedule the class asap and
Would call me with the new dates. The next class was scheduled for april 7,
2014 with a trainer called (Phone # [protected]).
Since I was
Charged for 6 (30 minutes) classes per month since I registered at the gym and
The services were not provided, I had accumulated: 2 classes in january, 6
Classes in february, 6 classes in march, and 6 classes in april for a total of 20
Classes.
So, i
Too classes on april 7, 11, 21 e 25, with the last 2 classes being 1 hour
Classes, which would count as a total of 6 classes. At this point the gym still
Owed me 14 classes and this trainer was also fired from the gym.
I went
To talk to your staff again and was told one more time that your staff would
Contact me to reschedule the classes. I was also told me that they because of
All the inconvenience I have been trough I was not going to be charged for the
Month of may.
In may i
Was charged another month, which now represented a total 20 classes that I had
Been charged for and had not received the services. I waited and was contacted
To start with a new trainer called cristiano (Phone # [protected]), who
Scheduled my next classes, which took place on may 21, 22 and 26 (1 hour each).
During the last week of may, this trainer called me saying that he was going to
Orlando and rescheduled our classes for june 2.
On june
2 I went to the gym to take my class and was about to start when the trainer
Was called to the side by the head of personal trainers and was told that he
Had to teach a class because the teacher for the other class did not show up
And he had to cancel my class. The head of the personal trainers offered me 1
Free class if I agreed to reschedule the class again. I explained to everyone
That I was exercising because I need by doctors’ orders, that I was supposed to
Have a continuous exercise routine, that I had explained this to the staff of
The gym when I registered and was assured by the staff that they would set up a
Schedule to meet my needs. I left the gym crying.
Before i
Left the gym, a brazilian man from your staff called rafael (Phone # [protected]),
Who has been helping me since the beginning of this ordeal saw me crying said
That it was absurd what your staff was doing to me and that he would talk with
A higher member of your staff called josh. When I called rafael to help me
Explaining the situation to josh, rafael told me that he could not help me and
That I needed to contact josh directly. I asked him if he could help m at list
Translating what I had to say and he said that he would not going to be able to
Help me.
After
This last visit to your gym, my blood pressure went up, I got extremely sick, and
My doctor told me to look for another place to exercise. So, I called my card
And suspended the automatic payment. Golds gym never fulfilled their promises
(Contractual or otherwise) and I consider the contract broken.
The golds gym continues writing to me and saying that I have suspended the collection and that my name goes to the billing department. I do not write or speak english but hope you understand me did you mean: o gold's

getting billed after 6yrs of not even knowing I had the account!
So, apparently 6yrs or so ago in 2008.. An ex bf put my name down for an account and signed my information. I had no idea. Fast forward to may of this year when I get a bill from asf collection agency for a golds gym membership. I get the runaround from asf..saying I need to physically go in to the gym. So i do that. No managers present. Staff is quite rude and not knowledgable. I get told to provide a written letter..and i need 90 days. Well im not paying these fees as he was using me as a remote..or thats what asf is telling me. Today..month later..asf again phones, i tell them..i went in..and i have to wait to see a manager. Then I get told i need to pay my backfees + 8 additional payments that would cover the 90 days..well thats new to me. Oh and that asf handles cancellation for golds gym. Essentially, i am stuck in this contract I hadn't signed. And can't get out. How are they allowed to even do this? They don't seem to realize that I didn't sign it. I dont have a card. I had never used the gym. But..all because of an ex...I am stuck..oh and I don't talk to my ex. Not to mention his bank account info was listed..not mine. So again..why go after me..why not send the bill to him? How the heck do gold's still do business. I am sick of this run around. They can take me to court. i refuse to pay for this!

cancelled, still billed / poor manager
oh my god, I hate gold gym, this was the terrible terrible thing that I have ever seen, my problem is with the manager of gold gym in Tulsa, he is rude, he lied to me when I wanted to enroll, he told me that I have to make e contract and they do not have month to month program that was a big lie (I found out later from the manager of other gold gym in...
Read full review of Gold's Gym and 2 commentsnon intl standard too sharp lighting
Too Sharp fluorescent, high-beamed, non-dimmed, ceiling lights (120 watts) have been installed on the ground floor workout area. These -- non-dimmed sharp ceiling lights -- are extremely unpleasant to look at, hurt eyes upon contact, and are installed too low - literally just above our heads; they are not even enough high on the ceiling.
This extremely bright lights ruin the real Gold's Gym atmosphere which is WELL KNOWN FOR ITS DIMMED LIGHTS, ALL OVER THE WORLD expect in Riyadh, Tahliya location.
These eye damaging lights are pure management experiment that failed to properly increase overall lighting on the ground floor. Let me repeat again, these lights do not satisfy any international standards and make our workouts unpleasant. Management is constantly giving broken promises about changing these lights and is disinterested to cooperate. The problem has been going on and on and it shouldn't be left unattended.
Lighting before this incident was just perfect, just the way it should be, and it WAS according the international standards. Please help us to solve this unpleasant management experiment!
cancelation
I been trying to make a cancellation for since the beginning of December.I moved to Yakima WA I am no able to use this facility since December 2013. I was told that I could make my cancellation online I did but I have never received a cancellation confirmation. I called on January and was told that they have not receive my request and I needed to submit another request again (while I am been charge two extra months). I submitted another cancellation online and I have not yet received a confirmation. What is upsetting is that the personnel are answering the phone at this location are extremely rude and when I asked to speak with the supervisor I was put on hold for more than 10 minutes so I was force to hang up and call again. I find this service completely unacceptable. and by the way I am still been charge every month.

membership
Gold's Gym is the biggest ripoff. If you are considering getting yourself or your teens memberships there on a monthly basis- DONT. Once they get your credit card number they will NOT let you cancel. Worst customer service I have ever experienced...I canceled both girls in May and they kept taking out monthly fees. In July, they took out two yearly fees. And I called and talked to three different people. They would not cancel my account. So finally in Sept, my card expired. Now I am getting collection calls for both of my kids who are minors. Is that even legal? They will not get another dime from me...EVER.

worst customer service
I would like to share one evening experience with gold gym that how they treat their clients. On 31-12-13 I entered in gym around 10pm. I started my daily way work out. After 25min. Their was paging that gym will close by 11pm. (as on regular time). Now after 10min suddenly all lights got switched off. I was unable to come out because it was too dark. However I came out to the receiption their was three staff standing and busy with their work. I asked them "why light was switched off". Then staff (mr julian) replied "sir we assumed that nobody is inside". I would like to ask you this is the way you treat the customer. That staff is while doing the closing just only assuming that nobody is inside lets close the lights. And the closing time is 11pm.
I hope this will be taking care by the management. Because I joined the "gold gym" because of his name which stand for quality & service orientattion. But now I must say this shows how gym management trained the staff.

cancellation of membership
joined Goldy gym over a year ago with no issues. the gym really didnt have enough workout equipment for all of its members. I decided that I would start using my workplace gym. I wrote a letter to cancel my membership. the membership is cancelled but since i paid my last month fees up front my membership is still active till the end of October. the problem with that is now i have to pay a annual membership fee for the year when I am no longer going to be member. I tried to get them to just cancel my last month and i was told they cannot do that since it was already paid. they wont cancel and refund my money or nothing. so bottom line I will pay an annual membership fee even though i am not an active paying member. the other thing was they kept referring to a contract which i never filled out or completed a contract with them. I was told that i was a month to month member and could cancel at anytime. total BS!

horrible cancellation policy
The west edmonton mall location boasts of having world class amenities such a a lap pool (Closed for the last year), saunas (are frequently out of order) tasteful and clean change rooms/showers (Very dirty and grimy) and top notch equipment (Often broken or out of service). So if you have signed a membership contract and want to cancel since they are not delivering on what was promised or even currently advertised, you are hit with an comical 91 day notice period where you are required to keep paying fees during that time and an additional $199+ tax cancellation fee. Since they are not delivery on their side of the deal they cannot not charge almost $400.00 to cancel a membership but since they feel on the contrary they have provided a top notch facility and service they will. The comparable gyms in the city charge $150.00 and requires 30 days notice for cancelling a membership, so about half the cost. It shows they are looking to pull every penny from a dissatisfied member. Also you need to send a letter by registered mail to cancel the membership, costing the consumer time and money again. Gold's gym international should be ashamed that the group that run edmonton's gold's gyms are running their brand into the ground. Average google rating of 2.4 out of 5 and and given an f with the better business bureau. Plus since the equipment is not kept up and is in dis-repair, someone can be injured and the gym is liable.

no policing in the weight room
Golds Gym has no policy when it comes weights ...feel free to go to Golds gym and take all of the Dumbells off the rack that you need ..If you need the 20's 30's, 40's and 80's around your bench all the power to you. If your likes to fight guy. "This is your Gym". There are no Golds gym personnel present at anytime. If you want to address a complaint. Good Luck! These idiots want your money but they don't know how to manage a good Gym. Good luck Golds. This complaint is now being published in my Magazine.

difficulty in cancelling a membership
It's funny, when you sign up for a, "month to month no commitment membership", when the time comes to cancel, it's a MAJOR headache. I go in to the center to cancel my month to month plan and I'm given a piece of paper with instructions to get on the website and cancel through there. So, I attempt it with no solution. I pull up the site www.goldsgym.comMSS. This is supposed to be the Members Self Service site and find that this is just the main site. Nothing listed for existing members log-in or to register to utilize the site for account updating or CANCELLATIONS. All that's there is a promotion for a 7 day FREE trial, find a gym, enroll in a fitness plan and other promo crap. So, I tried calling the 800#, LOL! I sat on hold listening to a looping recording about the high volume of calls and some info about how to cancel memberships. Which tells me to go me back to the website.
Gold's Gym failed before when they were a franchise company. I see how they have now seem to succeed, "CORPORATE GREED". Locking people into endless payments and making it extremely difficult to cancel a membership. Even if it's month to month. Personally, I feel that if you walked in and signed up at a location you should be able to cancel at the same location and not have to, "get on-line to do it".
Sincerely,
Frank in OKC

Hi my name is oliver canja i've been a member of gold's gym since 2009 and I would like to cancel my membership because I am no longer using your gym anymore because I have no time so I called the godl's gym west edmonton mall where I am a member for how many many many times I ask them to cancel my membership but nobody the procedure they just tole me to send a letter so I went to canada post to send a letter but they didn't told me that it shoul be a registered mail good thing the representative of canada post told me call them now because I know it should be registered mail so I call them and they said yes it should be a registered mail so I send it to them but after a few weeks still they took money from my account so I phone them again and told them that I thought as soon as I send the letter it will be cancel but they said no you should bring the registered mail to the gym and talk to the manager I told them ok they dont tell me that. So I ask them if the manager is in today they said yes so I went right away but when I was there I ask for manager they said his coming at 1 pm I went there around 11 so awaited for how many hours expecting that I can talk to the manager but when I came back they told that his not there yet and they ask me to come back tomorrow but because I am also busy with my work I am not able to come back but after a week I go there again and ask for a manager they he/she went to his/her break after 30 minutes come back they said ok I will wait im going to t&t first after 45 minutes I go back there and they told me that the manager is off already so he/she went home I said what? You told me that he/she went to break but now you're telling me he/she's not coming back because he/she is off what the heck right I wasted gas, I wasted time and effort to talk to the manager but no chance because it seems like we play hide and seek I am not happy I am so upset. When my membership terminated Feb 2007 so I thought HaHa .I thought that was it for monthly payments, not! I found out inadvertantly from my bank `that they were making monthly withdrawals Feb 2007 until Oct 2013! When I questioned them about cancellations I just found out I'm still making payments till Feb 2014. My bank told me I can't put stop payments on the next few months or Golds can back charge me plus a penalty fee!
unfair business practices
They do not care about their customer. DO NOT sign any contracts you will be signing in blood. If you become ill or are not able to work out; no matter how many times your doctor submits medical information you will NOT get out of your contract. Make sure you understand you are going to pay for that membership even if you NEVER use it or are physically incable of using it. ALSO; make sure you talk to the personal trainers and see the clientelle before you sign up. If you are sensitive to bullyish behaviour or lewd comments by men or being made the butt of a joke...DO NOT SIGN UP! It may not be that way at ever location; but I can tell you that this company will not deal with complaints. They will shrug them off and file them in the trash can.

I forgot to mention, they charge you for yearly maintenance and process fees ($50) when you sign a contract. They lake customer service orientation.
I have had the an issue with west des moines Gold's Gym. the manager lied to me when I first wanted to enroll, he told me that I have to make e contract and they do not have month to month program. Later on, i realize that my friend went to a month to month contract and others were paying half what I pay monthly. I also agree with the previous user, "They do not care about their customer. DO NOT sign any contracts ever!".
This may come as a surprise to you, but that is the whole point of a contract: guaranteed responsibility. If you sign a contract on a house or car or insurance, etc, they will not care either if you can not pay. Pay what you owe, and what you agreed to. You would expect them to hold their end of the bargain, so you should hold yours.
I am always amused at how contracts suddenly become unfair when it is the CUSTOMER who is expected to honor HIS end.
membership/fees/cancellations
I was a HAPPY member of Golds Gym until they took advantage of me. I am so grateful that I did not attach them to my personal bank because I would have been taken to the cleaners. I signed up for a membership with Golds Gym not long ago. I use it frequently and really enjoy all of it's benefits. I have a pre-paid visa that I use for this membership and only...

Golds gym has to have the worst customer service and representative that I have ever encountered! Not only did I pay all the enrollment fees and signed up on a Thursday and was charged the next day for the whole two weeks because it was the end of there billing cycle. Only to have the gym to close down a month and a half later. But now I have been paying for a membership since November 20, 2012 that I haven't been using cause I cancelled on November 20, 2012 the first and last I went to the next closet location, and they are saying that they will NOT refund the money they have been stealing from me! And then they tried to tell me that they were doing me a favor by letting me out of my contract, which btw I never sighed a two year agreement, really they are doing me a courtesy!?!? Why don't you give me back my $$$ you thieves?! What a terrible bunch of crooks! >:-/

unfair business practice
Due to unfair business practice and vendor has made a false misleading. i request cancelation and stop service starting from June 7, 2013 and i order my bank to stop payment starting from Oct. 26/2012. so far no made solution to resolve the issue . they request me to pay the regular payment of past due with interest. I communicate The ABC Financial starting from August 2012. and also requested to cancel my contract, but never made decision on it instead of asking to pay the past due. This is rely very disappointed and never care about customer.

incompetent staff, unending contract
Gold's Gym at UBC village:
Terrible customer service, machines were frequently broken, washrooms un-stocked.
Front desk CSRs repeatedly seen socializing with one another, when clients requesting service were clearly apparent.
When I submitted my cancellation form a little over 30 days prior to my contract end date, the first CSR i encountered, told me I was too early, and she was afraid of losing my form, I agreed to come a few days later--filled out the contract, and thought my membership with Gold's was over and done with. A few months down the road I noticed my bank account was still being charged, turns out my form was lost and never processed! I had to call in and visit several times, being told I would be phoned by the desk supervisor (never got call). A second time, I was replied with a terribly unprofessional email, with spelling and grammar mistakes. Two times I was told to contact two different supervisors, of which their vacation days and shift times were never clarified so I ended up making a useless trip. Add on another month to that, my account is still not cancelled, I am still being charged, I was given a second party health billing company to call. Had to endure long waiting with customer service with that number, and turns out, the gold's supervisor still had not submitted my form necessary for cancellation to go through. Now I still have to go through getting my refund from an accountant that's "away" at the moment.
Either have a more thorough hiring process, or a better training program, either way Gold's gym is already associated with a bad reputation. Even with all the new equipment and improvements coming to that particular location, I don't know what good that will do if the foundation of the company (employees) is poor and under-managed.

I feel the same way for the Gym in the Montreal area in Ville St laurent. Its garbage customer service, rude staff, dirty looks, and the manager is the worst. They don't care, they have no idea how to run a gym or any place...they are good just to take your money!
