theft in the locker room, cleanliness, staff, equipment
How is it possible for someone to enter the men's locker room, break the locks on 5 lockers and steal all the cash out of people's wallets? That's what happened to my husband tonight! Goodlife needs to pay us the money that was stolen! It needs to have better security so that this doesn't happen again.
The staff at this location just hang around the front desk or in the office at the back. They are not friendly nor helpful. They don't even know how to smile. On top of that, I don't know how often this club actually gets cleaned. You would think that a place where equipment is in constant use by so many people there would be people hired to clean the place. But either Goodlife is cheap or they don't give a hoot about this location. Hire someone to clean the place! And when a member complains about an equipment have the bored staff write it down somewhere so that they can call and report it! I have told the staff on multiple occasions about the TV not working on some equipment and all they do is say it will get fixed. It's been 3 months now! None of them have been fixed!
sunday morning 8:30 am ride class
Monday, 10 March 2019, I was attending the 8:30 AM ride class. The normal instructor who is great, Susie, was not there.
The substitute instructor singled me out publicly with her microphone twice...saying that I could not spin in "her class" because my posture was incorrect. The 2nd time she was abusive and humiliating, yelling at me with her microphone in front of people I have been spinning with for years.
Although I have been spinning for over 20 years at least three times a week I've never had this kind of humiliating experience before. At 64 years of age... I did not expect an instructor to be so aggressive.
After being kicked out of the class I immediately went to the manager. Although she agreed that this was unprofessional...I have not had any feedback from Goodlife.
The desired outcome is I would like feedback on Goodlife's resolution for this unfortunate event.

wrongly charged
I went for inquiry a couple months ago and then have never stepped in the gym again. They started charging me and said that I am a member. I never signed up for the membership. They have charged me around $238.00 by now and are saying that they would take legal action against me if I don't make. payment in 5 days. This feels like fraud and harassment.
front desk
There was a young lady top half of her hair brunette and lower part blonde whom might I say was not pleasant. She greeted us fine but as I was walking away I heard her whisper some racial remarks. I continued on as if nothing happened as I do not like altercation but I would like this to be resolved. If this is the type of employees your facility recruits I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Read full review of GoodLife Fitnessregarding my membership
I have been constantly calling on the head office number to cancel my membership but the phone keeps on saying busy busy.its been 5 days now and charges are high.i need my membership to be cancelled right away. I called the branch where I opened and they asked to call me head office. Now you are not accepting the calls. What is the person supposed to do?
customer service
I was offered a complementary one month free promotion/scam but i had signed up for a corporate plan only to find out they charged my account the regular ultimate plan rate.
after calling to head office to express my concern the customer service rep i spoke with (Alyssha Empl #:1728) refused to listen to understand and insisted the charge will not be adjusted. I requested the steps on how to go about escalating my concerns and she repeatedly rudely stated she has the final say and will not transfer me to a supervisor/manager.
It was clear there was a miscommunication (which she admitted) when the sign up took place. I asked about when the next payments will be coming out of my account and i received 5 different days in the same conversation.
Contacting "head office" was the WORST customer service experience i've ever encountered and can say at this point doing business with GoodLife is a bad choice and will definitely NOT recommend it to anyone.

cancellation of personal training sessions at oxford and adelaide goodlife fitness gym location.
Hi I am Suraj Gupta. My Member number is 54p54218. I signed a Membership agreement on 15 october, 2018. I took a Personal Training complementary session in that week of joining a Gym. At that day after completion of session, the Manager Gino in Gym signed me a contract for Personal Trainer for a year long and told me that if I not want it then I could cancel it anytime in 10 business days. Instead I was not agree to take the membership but I took that day. After 3~4 days I contacted him to cancel my contract but he always gave a excuse about his non availability and also told me don't worry he could cancel my membership anytime. Last week he put a request to freeze my account for the payments but today I charged again 242 dollars. I am a student and I am out of my money in my account. Also, I need to pay my college fees. Today, I had a talk with him he said you have five more sessions with the personal trainer. He already knew that I don't want a membership. I am very much frustrated with his excuses from the last month. I can't handle this everyday. Please help me to solve this issue. I just need two things to sort out ..1) Cancellation of Personal trainer program. 2) I want my latest payment back that you deducted today.
Thank you so much. I am really looking help from your side.
cleanliness
Yesterday October 27th 2018 at 18pm used the men's change room was littered with garbage on he floor. How much would it cost to add a couple of bins in the washroom to dispose garbage...recycling.
The shower curtains are filthy. The soap dispenser is broken on the floor.
Just no one seems to care or clean these areas that are frequently used.
The floor is dirty when did it get a clean.
Just leaves me wondering if I made the correct choice joining this particular gym, or are all gyms this nasty.
Please have someone clean it up.
towel service
I go to several gyms downtown Toronto. The only gym that has an issue with providing towels for towel service WHICH I PAY FOR is at the York/Wellington location. This location OFTEN (few times a week) does not have towels available at peak hours when I arrive at around 12-1pm. Additionally, they advise me to arbitrarily come down to the first floor in 10, 20, 30, minutes to check if there are towels available. This is a 5 story building. It is annoying and takes time out of my workout during my hour lunch time break to check for towels. Also, since I rely on my paid towel service, I do not bring my own towel. On those days, I cannot proceed with my work out as planned nor can I shower! I will not lie on gym mats or sit/lean against gym machines without a towel barrier as it is unhygienic (even with the antibacterial spray) and there is high risks of warts from bacteria contact with the skin.
If Goodlife does not fix this issue then I want a refund for the towel service for the past few months. This service and the staff's lazy attitude is unacceptable.
Additionally, speaking to the relaxed attitude of the staff, they also cut my gym lock off because another member claimed it was their locker and they did not leave a note for me, nor did they reimburse me for my lock.
On another day, they took a picture of a gym member who was foot pressing two staff members and I was in the background of the picture which I did not appreciate because they giggled about posting it.
no longer honouring original rate
I am very disappointed as my local GoodLife Fitness just informed me that they will not honour my previous rate before using my $249 friends and family coupon. I have been a member since 2007 and am very upset in regards to this. I would like to have my previous rate honoured as I have been an avid and dedicated gym member for 11 years and I look forward to hearing from you.
front desk at 137 yonge street, toronto, ontario
Dear Sir/Madam,
Incident happened on Friday, Sept 21st 2018 - 12 noon EST
Yoga class at this gym starts at 12 noon. I was a few minutes late arriving for this class. When I arrived at the front desk and because it is hot yoga, we have to request for a sticker or card, which I did. Because I was a few minutes late (maybe 7 mins), the lady at the desk, said we cannot let you enter the class as you are late. I said, well I have seen people enter in late for that class, she then turned round and told me she had no more tickets. I was annoyed because, mind you we have to pay extra for hot yoga and this is what my membership includes. Anyway, I changed and went to the class. I have to say the yoga instructor was extremely nice and welcomed me into the class (no problem here). I have been doing hot yoga for a while and at other gyms in Toronto and have never experienced the attitude that I received from this individual at the front desk at this gym. This is the second time this has happened to me at this gym. I am always either early or on time. This yoga takes place during our lunch time and sometimes due to work, one can run late. More over, I pay an extra fee for hot yoga so I do not expect people stopping me to enter the class just because I am few minutes late.
My name is Linda Barretto ([protected]@hotmail.com) and I have been a member of Good life for almost 8 years. Would appreciate if this was looked into and some proper training was provided to individuals at the front desk. I wait to hear from you on what is being done.
Thank you
massage chair not working for two months now
One massage chair has not been working for two months now ! Does it take that long to get it repaired ? We pay an arm and a leg for membership and what took the cake today was that the two remaining chairs were happily occupied by the trainers who were so into a chat session that they ignored poor me who waited for 15 minutes and finally left !
I could have complained, but felt thst it would not be addressed . Hence this forum .

Paid 550.00 for Personal training that I am not even enrolled in?
Cancelled personal training 6 months ago and the fitness head at goodlife at whitby consumers told us that it was cancelled and we paid a cancellation fee. However I got charged 6 months later 550.00. I want a REFUND IMMEDIATELY. Very poor customer service at GOODLIFE in Whitby @ Consumers. Very unhappy with how this situation was dealt with... which was absolutely nothing to be done.?
I'm going through something similar. How did you manage to resolve this matter? If at all. Just curious.
sunscreen
The sunscreen contains titanium dioxide and phenoxyethanol which is harmful to the skin and may even cause cancer. We customers use sunscreen for protection from uv rays which cause cancer. And now the same product is leading to cancer
It doesn't mention the basic information that is spf of the sunscreen. It leaves white powdery patches on the skin after application.
The company website is fake and there is feedback information.
Its label doesn't contain sufficient basic information and contact details for consumers.
Its mentioned sweat proof but it's a fake detail.
corporate membership
Hi there,
I would like to start this message off by saying that I have been a happy member of Goodlife for 7 years. Until this incident I have never had a negative experience with the company, however the past few days have left me wanting to change gyms.
Recently, I switched from a regular membership to a corporate membership that lasted for a 3 month period. After this period ended, I was to switch to a corporate contract using the online website -- this was to be done by August 31st. For whatever reason, this site will not allow me to register, and so I called the corporate membership help line. The first representative I spoke with asked me to give the system a few days. I waited for the long weekend (September 1st - September 3rd) and tried again on Tuesday. The site still would not let me register, so I called back. This time I spoke to a gentleman that told me I would have to send the email to technical support and wait three business days. Not wanting to wait a full week before returning to the gym (I go to the gym every day) I asked if there was something else that could be done. He very rudely told me no, and that every other representative would tell me the same thing. When I asked to be transferred to someone who could be of further assistance he hung up on me.
I then went into the gym to see if there was something they could do for me. The gentleman that helped me at the Queen street location started off the conversation by telling me that I look "tight and toned", and proceeded to tell me about his groin surgery. On top of this, he had me pay 129 dollars to reinstate the membership that I had before my corporate membership. He then tried to talk me into getting personal training sessions, led me over to another gentleman and told him about my weak gluts and that I would need help exercising them. When I said that I would prefer a female trainer if I was to get one, this other gentleman told me he could have a female colleague contact me, and then winked at me. Feeling both disgusted and annoyed I called the corporate help line again. This time I spoke to a girl who told me that I would be refunded the $129 and that someone would call me the next day to walk me through the technical difficulties I was having. Neither of these things have happened.
Not only have I spent countless hours on the phone with the corporate membership help line and lost $129 dollars, I was also sexually harassed in a way that I deem completely unacceptable. This entire situation has left me feeling frustrated, disgusted and ashamed. I have always loved Goodlife but now find my opinion of the club very different. If there is anything you can do to help me with this situation that would be greatly appreciated.
enroll and cancel the membership
I was and still am a new beginner in work-outs.
This club was the closest to my new apartment, so I went there to check. I explained that I' would only start my work-outs two months later, I can enroll later. The staff said they would only charge me since the day I start to use the gym on September if I enrolled that day. She asked me to deposit $50 in my account so that they don't need to go through my chequing account. So I enrolled and deposited $50 to my account. However, in August, they start to charge me through my chequing and stating to be the "holding fee" for my membership that I were only about to use since September! I went to the gym to complain about this situation and felt so regretful to give them a second chance because I didn't know what would happen today. I accepted their offer of one-month free membership.
A week ago, I went to the gym to cancel the membership because I didn't go there very often. They asked for a cancelation fee. Because my account was frozen for several months. I only "used" it for half a year. They can only cancel my account if I paid the full price of the membership for a year. I'm not satisfied but just want to get rid of them. The staff said there would be a last payment, and they can only cancel my account if it is active! So I need to pay another by-weekly membership fee. Alright, I told him I want to pay everything together with my credit card. I paid around $113. Unfortunately, this is not everything together. Yesterday, they tried to charge me $41.90, which brought in a nonsufficient fee! I went to the gym, they just apologize but stating there is nothing they can do for a charge by the bank! I told the manager, this should blame their staff for an unclear explanation! And they never give you an invoicement! I thought I paid off everything! They also refuse to offer an explanation letter to my bank to take off this fee for not being a fraud! How ridicules!
I'll never have any business with them forever!
pathetic customer service
I am not satisfied with the personal training sessions I have been received from the trainer. Therefore I am trying to contact the fitness manager from the last 6 days, i left the note at the front desk, calling every single day to reach the manager, sent out an email but still no reply. When you have to join the membership they are very nice but after that they don't even care. Not satisfied at all the customer service and the staff over here.
front desk staff named misha
I was trying to call the club, from 6 am till 7 pm. The front-desk staff answered the phone after an hour. It is not that busy at this time. The staff said to me that he got only 2 hands. Very rude. I explained to him that I was calling about the classes that morning. His response was that he doesnt care, because my issue is in different department. He said to me that I have to figure it out myself. he showed lack of interest in helping me. A front desk staff is expected to know what a good customer service is.
tanning
I have been tanning and a tanning member for over 6 years. Twice i have had to discontinuey membership for a few mo tha while i went into hospital full time for cancer and other issues and both times i was told i had to cancel my meber ship 28 days in advance and was unable to and was billed for those two months because a manger was never there for me to do so. I have gine into hospital alot and not always been around to use my member [censored] and tanning is the only thing that helps me in my depression and recovery these days . Your spa at steels and markham rd is never clean and i have to wipe it down before and after i tan. Also i have havd to wait at the entrance fkr sometimes 45mi s to tan because staff is unattentive to the door and my membership requires them to let me in and set the clock. In additioni was told and signed that it would be 6.50 by weekly and 15 total a month and have been charged every month for more more then 17 to 19+. I have reccomend more then23 people to your gym and wish to work there. I would like tk be compensated somehow and renew my membership now paying whatbi should i. I have been a loyal customer and nothing hut but respectful. In fact all your staff love me. I am going away again for ayg 13 though September and i want to tan before and after how can you help me with money that i have been over chraged and for my loyaly and loss of two or more months because yiur staff was unavailable.
yonge/dundas location
Providing a list of complaints for the past year:
-cancelled noon Cyclefit classes on Tuesday and Thursday (excellent instructors)
-no replacement instructors for above classes
-elevator that breaks down often
-today, hardly any towels when entering; none when exiting (lunch/rush hour)
-no towels often at lunch rush hour
-bikes in cyclefit room often "totter" and broken straps often
-showers that break down often; many don't work properly; some have no hot or cold water
-broken weight equipment that isn't fixed for weeks
-almost no mats for stretching/abs
-alternatives to an actual cyclefit instructor include Aussie/Kiwi drop down screen classes where I can't understand 1/3 of what they are saying and they take too many breaks or an American video showing a never ending Florida suburban parkway with overcast skies and nothing but cars and trucks passing you on the screen. Boring
-reception staff who don't know anything about classes and scheduling
This is without a doubt the worst GoodLife I've worked out at and I try to visit as many as possible as I travel for work...sadly this is directly across from my office.
Desirable resolution: fix all of the above
