I filed a dispute concerning non-receipt of an item I had ordered. Apparently this gives green dot the right to hold my current balance of funds and my direct deposit amounts (Totalling approximately $3000). What! I get ripped off and somehow that gives them the right to keep my money! I am a single mother of 4 and they have every dime I have to my name held. I can't access it — there's never a supervisor there to speak to — i'm always told to wait for a "call back from the person I need to speak to". Does anyone at this place ever show up for work and how is it legal to hold my money!
Help!
What do I do!
What kind of a jerk are you? This has nothing to do with my "real" bank. I have a regular checking account but I THOUGHT that Green Dot would work better for me since I am disabled and have a difficult time getting to my bank. Don't judge people unless you know the whole story. The green dot kiosk is less than a block from my home. The bank is much further. I am unable to drive and I have limited transportation options. You know nothing about me. I am a homeowner and a reputable member of the community. My banking choices have nothing to do with the fact that my money is being unlawfully held. If you cannot offer CONSTRUCTIVE comments, then please refrain from commenting at all. You obviously have an issue with people in general and are not here to help but only to hurt other people. I've read your other comments and note that you have this same attitude in those comments as well.
I might also add that I have not bounced any checks and do not owe my other bank any monies. It is just too difficult for me to do my banking until my medical problems improve. I was using Green Dot as a secondary banking option until I was improved enough to make trips to my regular Bank (about 20 miles from my home). I feel, Mr. Goole, that you owe me an apology.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You pay whatever monies it is you owe your old bank (probably bounced check charges etc) so you can open a real bank account again and drop GreeenDot. Only Illegals and people who want to weasel out of paying the bank for multiple NSF charges that left their accounts overdrawn have to use scam banks like GreenDot because they cant open a real bank account.
singstoo, don't waste your time defending yourself to goole. He sounds like an 18 year old know-it-all, i.e. book smart and life stupid!
I also have a Greendot card AND a regular checking account. I use the Greendot online - and HAVE had it compromised before (and laughed at the idiots who tried to get $60 from a card with only $3 balance) - and I've NEVER had a problem with Greendot BUT I have also never had them hold money for any reason before.
If you have not done so already, and if the problem has still not been resolved, write them a letter at the address on their website (you'll find it in the "contact us" section) explaining that you are experiencing hardship because of this and asking them to expedite your claim so they can release the funds.
The problem is that by disputing a charge, you have basically told them that your card is compromised. They lock down the remaining balance to keep any new charges (presumably by whoever has gotten hold of you card info) from being credited. If they call you, find out if you can have the balance transferred directly to your bank account (where they can - or should be able to - safely verify that the cardholder/bank account holder are one and the same). I don't know if they will do that but have read other complaints where a new card was issued but activation of that card became a nightmare in itself, so I'd try to get the balance to my checking account, close out the current Greendot card and then, if you wish, get a whole new Greendot card the regular way.
I have more than one Greendot and don't keep any real amount of money on any of them - but especially not on the one I use online. No such card is safe to use as an alternate bank account.
I set up a direct deposit for my greendot card five days ago but the deposit still has not shown up on my card?
This company is terrible. I elected to use Greendot for online purchases since I did not want to use my primary bank account for online transactions for security reasons. The customer service representatives were AWFUL after I complained that I ordered a card on 01/22/2010 and it was 02/03/2010 and the card had not been received and I had a $2500 deposit on the card. I will not recommend anyone purchase this card.
What people have to understand is that when you request direct deposits into any account, it's not an "over night process". It can take anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks to become active. That is with any banking institution. For payroll direct deposit, you will either receive a paper check from your employer or they will pay you the same way they have been (ex: credits to checking or savings) until the new direct deposit is up and running. I've read a lot of complaints regarding direct deposit and how the person signed up on Monday and expected the funds to be available that Friday and that's just not how it works.
