customer service
My husbands gum tree account seems to have been hacked and now you won't let him post, he's spoke to you guys through type and say he's not adhered to the post rules and his account will not be reinstated nore will any more of his questions be answered. .. I would like this looked into as the guy said he can not see any rules he's broken anyway.. please can someone look at this and come back to me as I think this is completely unfair.
purchase of resmed airsense 10 auto cpap machine
On or about 1 June 2017 I responded to an Advert for the above through I suppose your Australian Branch. During the next four weeks I negotiated further and agreed to purchase the Machine.
On the 29 June 2017 I remitted the funds to the provided Bank Account.
Details were BSB 012 310, Acct [protected].
Despite calls to the phone numbers provided and emails requesting delivery details I have heard nothing further and my concern is that there could be a scam involved.
The email being used was "Seller.[protected]@users.gumtree.com.au"
The email seemingly allotted to me was
"Buyer.[protected]@users.gumtree.com.au"
How can I regain my funds if this is indeed a scam.
money taken then account blocked for no reason with customer service the rudest i've ever dealt with. joke
Anybody else been ripped off by these ? Tried selling a vehicle yesterday on gumtree on an account I've had for years with no issues . Decided to pay £25 to reach more viewers only to have my account restricted as soon as payment was taken with no explanation as to why ! I decided to call them and they first said it was a mistake and reactivated my account. After 10 min they done the same again and removed the add, I called back only to be spoken to in a very rude and obnoxious manner by someone saying the account has been blocked again and they rufused to give details or an explanation and refused to return my money . Throughout the day they blocked and unblocked my account 3 times sending me emails every time . The last time I called back and said that I had received an email saying that the block had been removed . I was put on hold and by the pig arrogant call handler and after about 30 seconds he came back saying I have just blocked your account again . We don't want you using our services and I'm terminating this call . Then hung up ! 😡 just wondering if anyone else has been treated this way by this Micky mousse company? Because they for sure want be hearing the last from me . Absolutely disgraceful company and they got my money 😡
These guys are con merchants and fraudsters. They banned my ad as they said it broke their posting rules. Try as I may I cannot understand how, and they won't tell me why. They have since happily taken money off me twice and did this knowing that they would never post the ad. This is fraud. Their help service is useless, their agents rude and they ignore my correspondence. Talk about just take your money and run - this business needs investigating.
These guys are rip off merchants and fraudulently take money from you. They have taken my money twice, and not published my ads. They have blacklisted me as apparently I have broken their posting rules, but I am unable to see that I have, and no one will tell me why. They have ignored my complaints and their help team are useless. What an awful company ripping off innocent individuals
paid for ads that were not posted but in 'inactive ads' basket
I have paid for 2 ads today that I can only find in my 'inactive ads' section in 'manage my ads'. There is no option for me to make these active.
I would like to situation fixed or receive my payment back! Am very annoyed with your website as spent an hour trying to find a contact to get in touch but received voicemail only wherever I called.
Date of incident June 27. two Ads, one for a decorative side table, one for a dining bench, both in area sw14 under my email [protected]@hotmail.com
Payment was confirmed but the ads are not placed and in 'inactive'. The same for another ad I placed 17 days ago. Please make these 3 ads 'active'

my ad was not activated though I paid for it
Hi, I posted an ad and paid for it but its not active and i cannot activate it. The ad ref nr is [protected]. I had some issues with my account and was suspended for a day but than I had an email saying the the issue was resolved and my ad should be active, but its not. I have paid for 3 days ago, so I am loosing days with no ad posted and there ia no way I can activate it. Tried to call Gumtree but got nowhere. I either need a refund or somebody contacting me from gumtree and helping me to activate it. I sent an email to gumtree support, and tweeted but there is no reply whatsoever. Thank you Natasha
Hi, I would like to close the complain about Gumtree customer support which I submitted earlier on today for Ad reference number:[protected] as the matter was resolved by the Gumtree. Thank you very much. Natasha Evans
customer wants me to pay courier fees via paypal
hi there, have posted an ad on cumtree, first thing today had an email from female buyer, sent email back to confirm item still for sale, she then sent me back email saying she is whhel chair bound, and can only pay by paypal, so i said okay, next text was she had sent me 395.00 via paypal, then she wanted me to pay out of that265.00 fees for courier to collect the item for sale, but she did not inform me this untill payment sent to me via paypal, so i have been on paypal and its showing no money, now i have an email from paypal saying i have broken paypal rules, this was done via my phone as the internet was down, so i have sent all the info to paypal today at 14.10pm and had nothing back since pay pal id 72w56358rf799193c.the item for sale was a washing machine for 90.00.Her name is laura clare, [protected]@gmail.com i have just checked and had no follow up from paypal
Hi I have had the exact same email from two different people. They where both deaf and wheelchair bound buying for there cousin as a surprise gift, There must be some very lucky cousins out there. They offered me the asking price which I thought was strange so I asked for a mobile number so I could what's app them more pictures. The reply was rather aggressive which confirmed my suspicions. This is the first time I have ever used gumtree and would like to complain and view my concerns.
I had a similar reply to an ad today - female, wheelchair bound, will send a courier, buying for her cousin, wants to use PayPal. Her name was given as Sharron Sharman with the email address of Sharronsharman02@gmail.com. It just didn't sound right to me. Does Gumtree have a listing of scams and similar requests? While I would like to sell the 2 guitars, I am leery of the request from this potential buyer. Will Gumtree reply or are there too many of these comments? I will hold off on this sale and maybe ask more questions.
torquay job advert seeking gardener urgent : [protected]
Your company published nonsense instead of my text required.
121 people looked at the advertised job --but nobody applied.
Why ?
Because you published that i intend to pay £ 9 -£ 10 pw---
Weekly pay of £9 to £10?
Of course the correct you should have published is that the job pays £9 to £10
Per hour---paid weekly /against invoice.
That kind of advert made me the laughing stock of my village and branded
Me as an 'exploiter' / a mr scrouge.
You have done me great harm.
What do you intend to do about it?
It needs sorting out now--not on monday :
I need the job filled and reputation restored
Contact me at once on [protected]---

car seller
I have just bought a Mondeo from your site registration number BT06 ZRF advertised on 08/06/17. Cost of £850.
Advertised as a private seller. This guy was a trader and the car stated 'drives perfect' .
Once I got on the motorway this car cut out whilst I was doing 60mph. I nearly caused an accident! This car has a major fault which would cost £1000 to repair!
I contacted him and explained and asked for a refund. He refused and got very abusive.
I have now got to go to trading standards to report him. He stated his name is Adrian
limousine hire
Hello,
I am the owner of Galaxy 1 Limousines.

unethical behaviour
Date of Incident - 08-06-2017
Reference Number - [protected]
I have had a very very bad experience with Gumtree because everytime I was posting an ad, it was getting deleted straight away, I tried posting 4 ads and all got deleted within seconds posting it. I contacted customer service via Live Chat and was frustrated even more because the chat agent I was speaking to name Kelly was very unhelpful, and did not provide with any information what so ever. I tried asking for help on number of occasions but it failed.
All I wanted to know was why were my getting deleted straight away I was posting them. Ad Ids: [protected], [protected], [protected] and [protected].
I was given no valid reasons on why my ads were getting deleted, furthermore I was told that my account has been restricted and the decision has been reviewed. There were NO goddamm reason why it was restricted/blocked whatsoever.
I literally created the account 10 minutes prior to posting my ad and verified my details with my email id and mobile number.
Very unprofessional and an absolute disgrace. I remember the days when Gumtree was new and were highly professional however this has now taken a deep dive and an absolute nightmare.
Luckily I have paid for my ads which I was planning to after leaving them on for a day but on the other hand, it has been a highly unprofessional and disgusting experience.
Customer Service is an absolute joke, NO HELP was provided AT ALL.
customer service
gumtree dint post an ad I paid for without telling me what was wrong with it and didn't give me a refund for it! I posted it again and it went through but I had to pay twice, when I tried to get through them to get ask for a refund of the first ad, the only way I found to get in touch was an online chat that had a queue of 10 people, I've tried a few times but always got disconnected as I waited. There was no email, mail or phone number so it had been nearly impossible to get a refund or get in touch with them for whatever reason...
selling
Details. If I gave as much details as possible id be describing the [censor] that keeps removing my ads. I'm not interested in being polite. So save it.
Ive had more ads removed and for utter [censor] reasons. I want to know who the [censor] is that's removed them and why.
I want to place a formal complaint against the [censor] i'm sick to death of it.
I list a cdr and describe its features. Which is the whole point of the bloody deacription field! The ad gets removed. I list a pc and music production bundle fully legal and again the [censor] thing gets removed. I list a psp running am needing rebuilt and guess what it gets removed! What's the [censor] point in listing anything for sale when your brain dead staff either can't understand plain english or simply don't read ads properly.
I'm sorry for my language in this message but there's no way i'm being polite when you [censor] keep doing this for no good reason. Iv seen stolen goods selling on your site and [censor] all gets done about the ads (It's not our job to tell you that's your job to spot them)
Iv seen a man selling a cigar tin that had cannabis in it. Do you remove it? Did you [censor]. So you can shove all your ad rules and regulations when you yourselves don't even stick to them.
I want to know the name of the [censor] who's doing it and I want the formal contact address for the head office where this [censor] is based. I'm not putting up with this [censor] anymore.
renting / property scams cape town
I advertised on gumtree.co.za that I needed a flat to rent on the 11th of May 2017 and somebody responded to my whatsapp number that I had provided. The response was coming from mobile number - +[protected] below is the message
[08:39, 5/11/2017] +[protected]: Hi I have a flat to let if u are still looking viewing start from 9:00 to 9:30 this morning for more information contact owner Dr Majola via whatsup same number thank u.
[08:42, 5/11/2017] (my response): Okay thanks, where is the flat and how much is the rental
[09:08, 5/11/2017] +[protected]: 1 Lynfield Apartment, Lindley Road, Wynberg
[09:09, 5/11/2017] +[protected]: Plz call Lexie when u are outside she does the viewing [protected] tell her u spoke to the owner thank u
[09:12, 5/11/2017] (my response): Thanks for taking the call, will be able to view tomorrow provided it's not taken already.
The lady sent me couple of photos for the flat see attachments. She told me the flat was going for R3 200 per month and I needed to make a deposit to secure it. I requested for viewing but she said the lady (Lexie) who is supposed to show me the flat wasn't available. I did called Lexie to set up appointment for the next day and she agreed but never pitched up for the viewing giving an excuse that she had already left for work.
She then send me a whatsapp saying
You pay to the bank Account number [protected] branch 4798 Thulile Majozi ref yo name. This is an ABSA Bank Account. I deposited the money and forwarded a copy. After that all efforts to view the flat have all been in vain. Am still trying to figure if there is a way to get my money back.
I chat with the lady using a different phone number asking about the flat and the conversation is taking the same direction of paying deposit and lots of excuses for flat viewing.

Posted ad on gumtree as a seller of luxury goods (chanel, louis vuitton). advises buyer to deposit money into friends account as her's has been hacked. she then says that personal driver will drop off item when rest of funds is deposit into another account. both are not reachable once funds have been transferred.
I believe these people have committed this crime multiple times on gumtree. leonie uses different profiles and names on gumtree to lure buyers. they also have different bank accounts and mobile numbers which they can turn on and off.
fraudulent site
This business does not exist, I tried to purchase a vacuum sealer off www.gumtree.co.za and they sent me and e-mail with this link to their website, I visited the address and they do not exist. I called them on the phone number off their website, they did answer but sounded very unprofessional so I was suspect from the start, once I caught them out they stopped taking my calls.

I paid 30 pounds but the item was not posted. I asked if it was sent or not. He said he would send 30 pounds refund instead. But he has not in spite of several requests. selling pavers
Hi my name is charlie morrow, I live in melbourne Victoria, I recently submitted and paid (7$) for an ad which was never posted however the money was taken out of my account. I'm super distressed because I posted it this morning in hope to get rid of several tonnes of pavers from my work site. Today, Only now at 2pm have I noticed my ad isn't on your website and now I'm stuck at a university with several pallets of pavers. I've never complained before in my life because usually I'm pretty easy going. I would appreciate the money reimbursed into my account and a courtesy call would be nice.

room advertised
I recently posted an ad on gumtree advertising a room in our house, ref [protected]
I promptly received an email stating that gumtree felt the ad had been located in the wrong catagory. This was fine and I tried to edit the advert and locate it in a more suitable category.
I found however that I could not edit the ad, as Guntree had removed it & had also charged me £12.99 for the previledge.
I would therefore like a full refund & in future I believe you should allow people access to their old adverts/posts, as I don't want to have to re-write my entire advert once more, just because Guntree feels it's in the wrong category.
Regards
Ben Smith
