Puppy purchase
I would leave 0-stars if possible, and I rarely feel the need to leave reviews. We love our puppy, but as of now I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. The first red flag should have been when we came to pick her up in 20-degree weather and were made to stand outside for roughly 30-minutes with two small children, and absolutely no explanation of why we couldn't come in or why it took so long to bring her out. However, our kids were so excited about the new puppy that we brushed it off. It wasn't until a week later that we started realizing the issues. We were told by Happy Tail Puppies she was checked by a vet and we were also given paperwork which showed her birthday of August 20, and all her vaccinations to-date. She was shown as having received all vaccinations except rabies. After having her at home for a week, we noticed we were having more issues training her than anticipated given her age. We took her to get the rabies vaccine, and also scheduled her with a professional trainer to help with training. At that time we received 3 different professional opinions (2 different vets and the trainer), and all agreed that she was much younger than was advertised. Based on her physical size/weight, mental maturity and most telling, her teeth development, they all estimated her age at that time to be 8-10 weeks. This means she was actually born in early-October and that she couldn't possibly have received her vaccinations on the dates listed on her paperwork (starting in September), and would have been too young for a lot of them anyway. They all recommend to ignore the clearly incorrect paperwork and follow a new schedule assuming she was 8-weeks old. We waited 6-weeks and then took her to a different vet and got them to estimate her age and offer recommendations on what to do. They gave the exact same age estimate (now 14-weeks, born early October) and recommended we start from scratch on vaccines, which we did. During all of this we have been unable to get anyone from Happy Tail Puppies to respond to our repeated emails and phone calls. After many attempts we were actually able to speak with the vet who we were told had vaccinated her and did the wellness check before we picked her up. He informed us that he never saw this puppy and only provided vaccination doses to Happy Tail Puppies, but didn't actually administer anything for them aside from rabies. Lastly, the 3-vets who have now seen her and the professional trainer all agree that she isn't an f2 miniature goldendoodle as advertised. She is clearly a dachshund mix, and her estimated full-grown size is 20ish pounds. That's a lot different than the 30-40 pounds we were expecting based on the breed and info regarding her parents we were given. We are in the process of getting a DNA test done to confirm this. Please avoid this shady place. Our initial pleads with them for more information were all under the assumption that an honest paperwork mistake had happened, and that we could get it cleared up but there refusal to respond makes it clear that isn't the case. We have filed a case against them with the BBB, and I encourage anyone else who is considering spending money with Happy Tail Puppies to check out the complaints there along with the negative reviews here.
Desired outcome: Reimbursement of the $750 I spent with them to cover the vet bills and misadvertisement of breed.
Micro Mini Goldendoodle passes after 3.5 week unexpectedly
We were SO excited to get a Micro mini golden doodle puppy and paid $3500 for our angel, Baylor. My family got her May 7th 2022 for Mothers day and we had her exactly 3.5 weeks before she passed unexpectedly. She started having seizures and was in a coma. We took her to the vet and they said we most likely got a sick puppy. We even drove 1.5 hours to the Emergency vet for them to say they really couldn't do anything but give her fluid and make her comfortable. All we asked was that our vet bills be paid because we had to go to the emergency vet. I still have not received a response after I sent all documentation and papers from the vet. Most normal breeders would want to do SOMETHING if a puppy died 3.5 weeks after going home but Happy Tails does not care in the slightest. Run FAR from these people.
Desired outcome: vet bills reimburse, half my money back or a new puppy
I am so sorry for your loss. I agree I will never buy from again and I urge others not to buy because the dogs are unhealthy. They are not willing to give any money back. I shouldn't have taken the dog but the papers were signed and then they hand me a bag with fecal matter medication claiming a litter mate had it but mine didn't. I took dog to vet he had to have a shot for bacterial plus medication for ear infection which is still not cleared up since September 29. They should not be allowed to run a kennel

Delivery of sick Morkie puppy on 9/29/2022
Filled out paperwork and paid in full on 9/28/22. They required an upfront hold fee of 200. to hold dog, microchip registration fee of 49.99 ,(optional) and a 99.95 Essential medical bundle (required). I paid a total of 349.94 at 9:30 am. They then sent me an invoice for final payment of $500. and adoption paperwork on line which I immediately paid and filled out my end of paperwork. Pickup was scheduled next day on 30th at 3:30 pm. When I checked at 8:30 pm they showed payment of deposit but billed me an invoice for 500.00 I had already paid and had not filled out their end of docusign for me to pick up dog. I talked to manager she said paperwork would be done by time I got there, they finally credited me with my 500.00 payment. I traveled 4 hours to pick up Lionel (my Sam) when I got there and they brought him out to me the handed me 3 vials of antibiotics telling me my dog was healthy but one of litter mates had fecal matter and the medication was a precaution. I should have had alarms going off in my brain then but I was tired and not thinking well, I am 74 years old. They require you to have the dog seen by a vet within 3 working days and assured me Sam was up to date on his shots. I took Sam to vet on Friday and he required distemper shot, short for bacterial infection and ear infection in both ears. I was given an unhealthy dog and I want reimbursement for the 375 dollar vet and cost of shots and medicine. Happy Tails will not return my calls or emails. I would appreciate any help I can get.
Desired outcome: I want the $375 back for medical bills I incurred for unhealthy dog
October 28,
Sam still has ear infection. I am fighting through PayPal to get vet bill back. They have not responded to PayPal as of today. I do not recommend buying a dog from them, the animals are unhealthy.

puppy breeder
I purchase a puppy from Happytail Puppies in North Carolina. They sell sick puppies and the puppies are not true cockapoos. The DNA test results for my "miniature cockapoo" puppy show that she is 26.7% Bichon Frise. She is also NOT miniature as advertised. When I contacted Happytails about my puppy, I was told that they would check with the breeder. Happytails advertise as being the breeder...Happytails advertises that they are the breeder of their puppies. Who is the real breeder they need to contact the breeder about my puppy being over 1/4 Bichon. Happytsils is fraudulently advertising and selling their puppies as cockapoos.
My puppy was delivered with a bottle of massive doses of an antibiotic concoction so Happytails and Dr. Cotton, their vet, KNEW this puppy was sick. It took several months and approximately $500 in vet bills before my puppy felt better. My vet bills were reimbursed by Happytails after I asked. I don't want anyone else to go through what we have been through with another puppy from Happytails. I paid $1625.00 for what was sold as a cockapoo. I got a mixed breed puppy instead of what was advertised. Happytails offered a partial 'fair' refund but Happytails will not responded to any of my emails since then. They also advertise that all of their puppies are microchipped, which is also not true. I have found several negative reviews from other Happytail customers who have had similar experiences.

Hey Teri, I also purchased from Happytails. My puppy was not sick but she is untrainable. She also is scared of everything and everyone. I think she was abused. She will even cower when I reach for her or try to rub her. She is very hyper, I pick and say she has ADHD but sometimes I wonder if she really has it. I have also wondered if she was microchipped and if she is full blooded Bichon. Can you tell me where you got your DNA tested and how much it cost? I wish you good luck with yours. I asked for my money back and they said I could return the puppy but they would not give me my money back. I love her to pieces but she is one stubborn dog. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I purchased a Bichon Frise from Happy Tails. She is a beautiful puppy and I love her to death but when I went to pick her up I had to wait outside for them to bring her to me. That was the first red flag. I asked if she was AKC registered and they said she was registered but not AKC. I asked why and they said that her parents were not AKC registered. I asked if I could register her and they said no because of the parents not being registered. Second red flag. I have not been able to train this puppy to do anything. She is 3 months old and impossible to train. I talked to them about it and they told me about this training program. I asked how much it was and Cierra said $1495.00. I thought she meant 14.95 per day. Boy, was I wrong. I asked if they had any kind of discount for people who purchased from them. I have yet to hear back from Cierra. She has ignored me. I do not think this puppy is trainable. She pees and poops all over the house, you can't even crate train her. I feel like I have been scammed by Happy Tails. I do not think she is purebred Bichon. I do not think she is trainable. She is very stubborn. At 3 months you would think they would have worked with her on potty training but they did not do anything with her. I would ask for my money back but was told you can give the puppy back but you won't get your money back. Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Did you get the results of your DNA test? I'm curious as I have a dog from here as well. Thanks!
