Homeadvisor’s website service
I have a website provided by Homeadvisor, I pay them a maintenance fee for it and my mobile website. They have both been down for several months. I have made phone calls and sent emails and got no help. I am unhappy with Homeadvisor and don’t recommend them to any pros.
Desired outcome: Want someone from [protected]@ Homeadvisor.com to at least contact me. They won’t even give me a phone number to call.
deep well repair
I signed up with HomeAdvisor to get a deep well repaired on 2 July 2022. I was charged up front and for that I expected to get an expert, or at least someone with relevant experience. I received neither: a handyman showed up and determined that he could not get the water pipes out of the well. I suggested a method using a sawhorse with a chain hoist and we attached these to a vise grip on the end of the pipe plumbing. We were able to get the pipes out of the well. My handyman then determined he could not fix the apparent problem and said that he was unfamiliar with the piping scheme that my well had. He tried some guesswork about how to get the system working, which failed, and then decided he could not do anything for me. I paid him for some parts that he brought with him and he left. I have tried to contact HomeAdvisor three times with no success.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response at the very least and a refund of the upfront cost since the service did not fix my problem
I would suggest contacting HomeAdvisor directly to discuss this issue. In order to get a resolution, you should provide copies of any invoices and receipts, as well as the details of the work that was completed. You should also explain why the handyman was unable to complete the job and why they were not adequately qualified to do so. Additionally, it would be beneficial to include a detailed description of your attempts to contact HomeAdvisor, including any emails and phone calls that you have made. Finally, you should explain what resolution you are seeking.
It is important to document all attempts to contact HomeAdvisor and any other relevant details in order to ensure that you get the resolution that you are seeking.
Services not rendered by one of your reffered fridge repair vendors.
Mr.V applicance repair in Loganville GA ripped me off of $1140.00 to repair my fridge but left it not working and now they wont reply to my calls, when i called this week again i was told the boss is on vacation and i have to wait a week for someone to contact me on when they can come next. they came 3 times and asked me to buy parts each time which i did. This business is bunch of crooks and I am letting you know so you can drop them from your home advisors list of refferals. I have been dealing with them since May 8/2022. Today is 7/15 and i am still dealing with fridge issues and no response from them.
Desired outcome: full refund and remove them from your list
Home advisor
I called this service and was told by phone that my account would be charged a one time fee of100 dollars, charged 123! To follow that I received a ton of spam calls to which the company pretended were leads and charged me 100 dollars per phone call!
This is a scam, ive called the police, bbb and the legal team.
Im turning it into fraud at my local police station and serving them with papers for civil action.
Desired outcome: restore my credit report and stop future fraud
housekeeping bologna
i asked for a housecleaner, not one person called, only contact was the overseas "customer service" who actually never listened to me. I have been inundated with spam calls, local numbers but showing overseas caller ID's, my spam box went from 2-3 spam emails every few days to 300-400 everytime I opened up the email, covering subjects such as contractors for painting, installing driveways, roofers, doctors, law firms, amongst other weird things, so it is obvious even to someone like me, elderly with little computer knowledge to grasp THEY SOLD MY INFO, PROBABLY WITHIN SECONDS OF MY HANGING UP THE PHONE, AVOID THIS SITE AT ALL COSTS, IS JUST A SPAM, AND THE PRIVACY POLICY IS ONE THEY COPIED OFF ANOTHER SITE
Desired outcome: i want my name REMOVED FROM YOUR CONTACTS TO WHOM YOU SOLD MY INFO TO, I have every intention of turning in the site to FCC for spam abuse, hopefully the full $5000 fine will make them think twice about this nonsense
Service
Hopefully this complaint makes the point Angie's list/home advisor are the same company. The last of March 2022 I wanted my apartment cleaned the job was guaranteed or I did not pay, this person shows up 15 minutes late and proceeded to do the job for one hour and did a very poorly attempt to clean. I called Angi's list to complain, and they told me I would not be charged. A couple days later and harassing text/phone calls, I received a charge on my debt account for $106.80 from home advisor. This makes it very difficult to recover my funds from the bank as visa requires contact for the card to reimburse. I will send a copy of this complaint to my bank as this dispute has not been resolved. Sincerely, Franklin Randall
Window installation did not happened
Name : Chang So [protected]
I ordered window installation (#[protected])
Installation date is 4/23/22 10 am. My pro's name is Ashley [protected])
At 11 am , two men came. Since I didn't have the glass they wanted to buy
for me and I sent money ( $330)using zillow to [protected] . They left at 11:30 am and never come back, no contact available.I called the number they
gave me but no answer at all. I waited all day. I called your customer service and canceled order, however I need to know what happened to them and I demand
the money back or the glass if they bought.
In short, no installation is done. Very bad service.
Desired outcome: I need their respond and money back or glass if they bought.
Quality of Home Advisor's professionals and service members.
Home Advisor never check the credentials of their members. Members just have to fill our forms online and they are NOT transparent on their hidden charges. Depending how many leads you have, they will charge you more on a monthly basis.. This company is a total SCAM even though company is a openly traded company...
Fixed price "switches & outlets"
I am soooooo furious right now - I booked a "fixed price" appointment to add 3 outlets. The guy "Zeets mobile mechanics" showed up at 9 not knowing that I didn't have parts (I said upfront in the booking that I didn't have parts)
So he went to buy parts, got a burger, came back an hour and a half later with only half the parts. Left AGAIN to buy the CORRECT parts this time, got a Starbucks. Finally came back to get started at 11:30.
Took his time, worked in a leisurely manner, joking with the other guys onsite, I figured, "well, it's a fixed price job, if he wants to waste time, that's on him."
He finished and told me I owed him another $275. So much for "fixed price". I gave him my credit card, and he billed it $361!
I am so furious with this bait and switch. "Fixed price" is a ripoff with these people.
Buyer beware - if I would have understood that I was handing him a blank check I never would have let him work on this job. $1128 for 3 outlets literally 4 feet away from the existing outlets - plus he stole the rest of the $90 roll of wire I bought! Unbelievable.
Desired outcome: I will chargeback. But just wanted to warn people - tell them upfront "I do not authorize additional hours"
Installation of security cameras by Tom Williams
I was contacted by Tom Williams through Home Advisor. I needed security cameras installed quickly.. I was leaving town and there had been several break-ins close by. We met on Feb.7, agreed on placement. I paid half upfront would pay the other half after the system was up and running on both my laptop and phone.-all in writing and signed. End result-they put it on my son's phone, charged my visa without authorization, did not return any phones until I threatened to stop payment, critical camera not is correct placement, the dvr system is a counterfeit Hikvision-I cannot get support. Tom sent me a nasty text saying a team of 3 had arrived to help me and I refused. I was recording from the live view. I told him, I'd happy to send him a copy of the video refuting this. All cameras went down on March 27th at 6am. I tried to contact his employee the week before to get help-he never returned my calls. My house was vandalized on March 29th, which might have been an attempt to break in-fortunately, the noise woke me. The cameras are still down,
Desired outcome: I would like the "quick" and "always available to help" statements Tom made to be fulfilled. I prefer to not communicate with Tom, but his employee. I would like the necessary technical support that was agreed or a partly refund
I have a terrible experience with the claim filed against one of the handyman's poor workmanship, subcontracting our jobs to minors and substandard workers. Contractor did not finish job but still sending invoices to pay for not finishing the project. We spent 2 days going through all of the text messages, hours actually spent by all of his workers since I was told we are going to be charged per hour.
We have complete documentation contractor lied about his hours worked, and refused to come back and finish up the job. Also blaming his subcontract workers for not doing his job. Extremely non transparent billing practices.
When the claim attorney came online to settle the dispute, the whole case was one-sided. The argument was the issue then WE DID NOT PAY him for his hours worked. Case was one-sided from the beginning despite contractor kept disputing what we present WITHOUT any documentation. In 5 min, case is over and we are told to pay him what is "owed" to him. This is social injustice. Later we found out that the claim attorney is paid to work for HomeAdvisor and the majority of the claims are Pro-HomeAdvisor. HA is aa fraudulent company with many misleading misleading practices. All of the contractors paid a membership fee to join and they are protected by the claim process. Also, Home Advisor never followed up and ensured the QUALITY of all of their members. In my case, anyone contractors/handymen are free to subcontract the work to any incompetent and unprofessional workers to finish the job.. My contractor attempts to put a lien on my house if bills are not paid...
In my 3 week project, contractor is always late for work, hiring sub-standard workers and totally unprofessional..
I can be contacted at scmyue@gmail.com if more information is needed..
Taking business owners money and ripping them off with leads that go no where
I joined Home Advisor and I thought it would be great for my cleaning business to get some new customers. I was wrong I did get some clients but they charged my 2,000 and I only got mabey 6 customers in all. They are a scam and lie to get you to join acting like it will be so great and then hit you with charges for leads that go no where. I am canceling with them and ai want my info off their website asap. I will be informing them tomorrow I no longer want to be a part of Angi's lead formally Home Advisor. This company is crooked. I had my card paused and the $2000 still came out before I could call them and I filed a dispute with my bank so I hope I can get my mo ey back. They are liars and steal business owners money. Bunch of snakes. That was my tax money that I got too and now it is gone. I am furious. They try to play peoe into joining and drain you dry of your money for these astronomical high priced leads and hardly no one answers the phone or message you back on their app. How can you make money this way. It is like they set you up for failure.
Desired outcome: I want my dang $2000 back that i got scammed out of.
Plumbing services
Contacted Home Advisor in reference to obtaining a plumber for an emergency repair. They provided three numbers all of which never responded. I made contact with another plumber and immediately received services. After that I was continually bombarded with hang up calls from Home Advisor Sales staff. I would answer and then non one would be on the other end of the line. When I called back to log a complaint, they couldn't even locate my information despite having it the previous day.
Also understand they farm their phone services out to India and you will have to endure screaming kids, loud televisions and noise in the background.
What ever you do avoid Home Advisor, it totally lacks any professionalism.
Desired outcome: Leave me alone, stop calling, you were unable to provide the services that you claimed to have.
Plumbing
The plumber came out took the old part could not find new part told me he would be back. Has not returned.
Desired outcome: Repair
Non service to fix electric outlets
On or about february 15 2022, I scheduled a tech from home advisor to come to my home to fix electrical outlets, that had lost power,
The tech called and said he was going to be late because he had to take his child to school. Because of another committment I had, we rescheduled for march 1,2022 he was a no show
Home advisory charged my debit card for $349.00 on the original date february 15,2022 regardless of the fact that they never completed the job, I have informed them several times that I was placing a dispute of payment, and never have heard from them.
I am asking for a full refund $349.00 for non service
For those whoin need of help with jobs, please use cash not any form of other payment
Desired outcome: full refund
I am in the exact same situation.
Painter
Samuel Keller agreed to paint for me after coming into my home, measuring the place and making recommendations for paint and amount needed. We agreed on the last week in February he would come. I texted him to ask what I needed to do to be prepared for him to come paint. He texted with that info so I prepared as he suggested. I texted him for his date and expected time of arrival but he did not text back or call me to say he wasn't going to come and do the job. After three days of not hearing from him I decided since he was unreliable, I didn't want him to come to work for me and called to report him to HomeAdvisor for his unprofessional manner in handling his decision to not do the work. Samuel Keller is not trustworthy in my opinion.
Above I have posted my comment.
Home electrical project #[protected]
Homeadvisor was suppose to provided an opportunity for me to hire an electrician for a EV project at my home. They provided two means to options for get started: negotiate a price and pay a flat non-negotiated price for the project. I chose the flat price for the project and pre-paid using Affirm. The project was discussed with the contractor (Freedom, LLC) prior to their arrival. Once the contractor arrived it was apparent the personnel were not properly licensed or certified to complete this kind of electrical work. They provided an estimate well beyond the flat rate and we ultimately declined to allow them to do any electrical work. I contacted homeadvisor to get a refund back to my Affirm account and as of 1 March 2022 homeadvisor has not processed my refund and after many calls and conversations with homeadvisor reps and supervisors they appear to be more confused on what action to take more today that than they were during my original call. While I want my $393.00 back as soon as possible. Homeadvisor are sending unqualified people to complete projects and refuse to process refunds in a timely manner.
Desired outcome: Demonstrate the qualifications of contractors.Do not process payments until the customer and contractors show that work has been completed. Process refunds in a timely manner and provide notification to the customer.
Painting-Preston Painting
Painter took 2 months to almost complete job. Only once showed up 2 days in a row. Many excuses for not showing up. Was not knowledgeable in regard to Wallpapered ceilings and how to deal with them. Did not complete the job because of that and created work for us because of his lack of expertise in this area. Painted over paneling but did not deal with the spaces on the paneling which we are now fixing ourselves. Would not hire again. Did not give any discount on the price despite not finishing. Would warn people to have a contract signed before doing any buisness with him.
Desired outcome: We will have to spend a lot of time to fix what he did not accomplish, and we will do a better job.
Lawn Irrigation System
Contacted what was thought to be a reputable expert, which turned out to be the total opposite. The guy showed up and asked to use our tools. Who does that? If you are a professional and claim to know what you are doing, it would seem that you would come prepared to do the job you were contacted to do. I was under the impression that Home Advisor conducted a check of these so called professionals, before adding them their list. He did not come prepared to do any work and was incompetent and unqualified. Home advisor did not live up to its claim. If anyone asks my opinion of Home Advisor or at the least, needs a referral for the services I requested, I will tell them to look elsewhere without hesitation.

Your customer service
work done 2/18
We asked for a professional and the man who came was a handyman. He got paid 2 hours but we paid for 3 and half.
The job was supposed to be completed before my credit card was billed. I was charged right away.
We paid for the extra time since we wanted it completed.
The price was outrageous for the service we got from home advisor. Thye would not discuss was promised and what was received
Desired outcome: Refund since not professional and 350 for 2 hours is too much.
John Bowlin Cement, Dayton OR
Feb 18, 2022
John set up a schedule to give me an estimate for some concrete work, but never showed up. If he didn't want the job for whatever reason, a simple phone call would have been appreciated.
Desired outcome: Just to let John know that I did not appreciate no contact re the appointment.
