I tried to take my Hunter Welly boots back to store as they are faulty they were a Christmas present in 2022 and although they are happy to exchange them, they wanted to me to pay the price difference.
I paid £39 and they are now £65 so the difference is £26.
Although on the box they said £44 and when I questioned this she said the ticket was on there by mistake.
Please can you advise where I stand, I have brought welly boots that are not fit for purpose and don’t see why I have to spend out nearly the same amount again for new ones.
I have tried to contact customer service and they obviously haven't read my email as this is the response

I am sorry to advise that store purchases cannot be returned via post. To return your store purchase for a credit note, or make an exchange subject to stock availability, visit any store within 28 days of purchase. If your item is faulty, we will provide a full refund. In any instance, valid proof of purchase is required.
Please note that you can't return swimwear, underwear, pierced jewelry, personalised or bespoke items, items which deteriorate or expire rapidly, magazines, items that are sealed for hygiene reasons, computer games with the seal broken or any items that have been inseparably mixed after delivery.
