Not sure why there is all this Shopify hate here since i've used them more then once and they have always been amazing.
The best thing about them is the free ebay importer - and I love the new buy buttons, since for $9 a month you can sell on any site. I haven't needed much support but the fews times i've contacted them they have been fast in responding.

Building a website was impossible for me. Terrifying actually. Just when I thought I was all set there would be something else needed for the site. I would have to again expand my learning curve. I was introduced to Shopify. They are so-o-o- helpful. They have applications that all the others do not have that help promote your site, build your site and covers all things that are needed. Any thing you are stuck with and do not understand they will help you personally 24 hrs. Per day.

I have been using the Shopify platform for my and my client's businesses for 7 years already. I've seen a lot of improvements since then. Obviously, customer support isn't consistent. I had my own amazing support experience and some really bad experience and that's not enough to give them a negative review.
I personally know other business owners internationally and locally who use Shopify and don't have issues with the platform. Maybe we're lucky, but that's my experience with this company.

We signed up for Shopify three weeks ago and smoothly transferred our content from another provider. We successfully set up our site and completed a domain name transfer. Everything was working perfectly and we even made a few sales. However, this morning, our site unexpectedly went down without any changes being made. We found the online chat support and spent two hours trying to resolve the issue. Eventually, it was escalated to Business Operations, but we didn't receive a response within a few hours. We contacted chat support again and they assured us that they were working on it. They mentioned that it would usually take a certain number of hours, but they upgraded our issue to "urgent." I find it surprising that a retail website can experience a 2-3 day outage and consider it to be urgent. As a web host, I believe any outage should be treated as urgent. Additionally, they were unable to provide me with an estimated timeframe for when the issue would be resolved, even in urgent status.
when a company will not give out an 800 number they are bad news 90 per cent 9f your customers have a level 3 high risk rating so your account is frpzen and then when you try and contact service they keep sending back to a closed site so you lose money while your store is closed leave the credit card companies to do their job
i would like to add to my complaint one week after my complaint my account is still frozen there is still no phone number to call so you have to go thru chat and that is a complete waste of time aa they are bot support you are told that they need time one week is sufficient time in my opinion I am loosing over $1000 a week and if they were in the *** I would tell my lawyer to ask for this as a penalty then there is the matter of the customers who have been given a level three fraud risk as of today not one chargeback i would inform each of them which would result in additional complaints
I opened a store through Shopify early fall of 2021. I never got any sales, so I decided to make a sale to myself in November. The money was taken from my account, but the product never arrived. Nor was the profit margin posted into my account within the 2-3 days they promised. So in mid-November I closed the business.On May 11, 2022, someone found the website and made an order. They never got their item. They complained on June 10, but by then there was no way to contact Shopify as the helpline was invalid and all other routes of communication were disconnected. The money from both sales was posted late in May. They keep on taking about $150(US) from my bank account, even though I cant get into my own store. They want me to provide a security code for them that they never emailed to me. If they are trustworthy, they are very inefficient and disorganized. If not trustworthy, they are dishonest and should be closed down and everybodys money should be promptly refunded.
Holding our funds while they verify we have the rights to sell our items. It is literally linked on every page of our website that we have permission to sell these items to the manufacturer's website. They seized our money without notice and it has been weeks of not replying to emails and stealing our money. This is FRAUD!

Unfortunately, I did not make any sales during this time, and I'm not even sure if anyone visited my shop or saw my products on ***. On March 18th, I was charged for the standard plan immediately after the 14-day trial ended. I decided to close my account on the 28th, but I did not receive a refund or any communication asking if I wanted to continue with their services. It's important to note that you will be charged right after the trial period, so you need to make your decision quickly. Personally, I would not recommend opening another shop with them.
I am here for the same reason as others. "Shopify has a deceptive and misleading marketing scheme to mislead store owners who are trying to save money by pausing orders on their store. They offer a 'Pause Plan' for existing store owners that is supposed to allow merchants to pause orders at their store and pay a certain amount per month until they reactivate their store. However, nowhere in their documentation or on the 'Pause Plan' page does it state that you are forfeiting your current contract and will be required to sign a new contract to get the same pricing you had before." I have no words for how deceived I feel right now. And they have the audacity to tell you there are no refunds...and you need to pick a new plan and pay more. Shoppers Beware! I have lost a great deal of money and time because of this.
Sounds like this is a common theme with Shopify. I have sold over $12,500 worth of goods to people I work with at my company. All have either been delivered or shipped with tracking numbers in their orders. I have been in touch with Shopify since I made my first sale asking when my funds will be available so that I can pay off my credit card charges for the items I have had shipped. For a month, the standard answer is we will escalate this, but nobody ever will give me an answer of when my funds will be available. I have provided all documentation and answers/links to questions asked and every single time I call the only answer I get is we will escalate this to the highest priority. Doesnt help that I never get an answer to when I will be able to pay for the expenses incurred for the merchandise I have fulfilled. Horrible service. Use any other platform.
Worst experience ever, Shopify has charged me for 6+ months for something they said would be cancelled a long time ago. It's all a scheme to con customers into paying for services the customer said repeatedly they DO NOT NEED! How horrible to pocket money like this! And on top of that when I reached out to customer services months ago they said they will refund me the money AND they promised my subscription will be cancelled. This place is absolutly ridiculous. So I started a new store got my merchandise, started marketing myself and got my first sale. Shortly after that, I got an email my store was being closed and that the buyer was disputing the charges. So the bank sent me a response form, I responded and then I won the dispute. So they had to return the money to me, that they had already taken. And they said it would be paid out to me by the next pay period. I had it set to pay daily so I waited like a week. Then still hadn't recieved anything on my Shopify card, so I contacted support. The first agent I spoke with told me it'd be 24 hours before I recieved my payout. So I waited 1 day and still wasn't on there. So I have contacted support at least 2 times a week for the past 5 weeks! And still haven't recieved nothing... They keep telling me they had to escalate this to specialists and wait for an email from them and still haven't heard nothing, haven't recieved nothing. I have complained and asked to talk to the specialist they can't forward my call to them! I think I am getting ripped off. I am getting more and more irritated the more I think about it...

When a shop takes your money, fails to send the product, disconnects their phone lines, and ignores your emails regarding the product or refund, Shopify's response is that they cannot assist and you should contact your bank. There are many complaints against certain shops that engage in these unethical practices, and despite Shopify's claim of taking these issues seriously, they have refused to help me when I have been deceived by a store using their platform. This is absurd.
Ive been with shopify for over 2 years and now all of sudden they need to verify my account and have withholding my funds for over 2 weeks. They ask me to take down products of which I did to still them holding my funds. I have kids and this is my only income. Beware of Shopify Scam! I am a Canadian Citizen born in Canada. I signed up for the Shopify basic monthly plan in Canada. I recently found I was being billed and charged in U.S dollars. When I contacted support they said you have to tick a box indicating that you prefer to be charged in Canadian dollars, otherwise the default is U.S. dollars. Why would I assume that this step was necessary? Who would naturally consider this? They do not disclose this information transparently or they would not profit as much. How many millions have they earned from unsuspecting individuals like myself? Is this a deceptive practice or should it be the responsibility of the novice customer who selects Shopify from the myriad of web hosting options available? Who would consciously choose to pay in U.S dollars when it's more economical to pay in their own local currency, Canadian dollars, where they reside? Is this a case of 'buyer beware' or a deceptive tactic? People in Canada need to be aware that they will be charged in U.S dollars unless they are informed about this specific billing practice!

When we were notified by Shopify about the claim, we promptly provided proof of delivery and acceptance of the product. However, instead of resolving the issue, Shopify decided to withdraw $3,046 from our bank account and hold onto it. It seems like they are trying to earn interest from our money, especially considering the number of businesses they do this to on a daily basis. Now we have been informed that it could take up to 75 business days for us to get our money back. This means that for 75 days, we are unable to reinvest that money into our account, even though we responded promptly and were not given any notice or opportunity to defend ourselves. It feels like Shopify is acting as both the judge and the jury in this situation. As a result, we will be searching for alternative payment processing and hosting options.

when I purchased the plan which it is basic for now because I am new at this I wanted to see how it works. on the description of what is included it says 2 staff members to help with the store but now today Oct 10 2023 I ask the customer service how to check is anyone was working on it and it turns out I have to hire them and pay them that was not inform when I got the plan.

Hi, I am thinking about cancelling my account, I signed up not realising I done it wrong. A phone advisor told me 2 days ago that he thinks it's because it is a personal account and the company name is showing as my personal name not the organisation name. Hence when I upload our Companies House certificate your systems are not approving it and reupload the certificate again. I have been waiting since Tuesday to sort this out and now it's the weekend. This is taking time from me I can not afford and pushing back the move to shopify.

Its so frustrating dealing with a company that thinks they are so big that they don't have to provide customer service of any sort. Now I have to deal with my banks to deal with them? So sad. I have received a defective product from Sleepon and they claim that they are unable to take it back in spite of their warranty due to the Lock-down in China.
They suggested and I agreed to a 50% refund of the amount paid for their product which, I had originally paid using Paypal. Paypal instructed me to file my Claim using their Dispute Claim system, which I have done.
As it was well within the time limit for returning this item when I started the process and I do not see the justification in their reason to deny my claim. It is just unethical behavior and bad business practice where the customer should be expected to bear any part of the cost for a defective product. I have tried very hard to return their product but they have refused to issue a Return Label or to even give me an address where I could send the product even though I have asked them in writing several times. Considering that the situation for transporting the goods from China is the same now as it was before I ordered the item, I don't see why they are unable to follow the same procedure to send back the item as they used to get it to me.
So if they could get it to me they should be able to take it back the same way.
Even after several emails back and forth between Sleepon (Seller) and me the customer, they have failed to refund the 50% which they had agreed to do. They are now claiming that they are unable to transfer the funds to me as Shopify needs me to close the Paypal Dispute Claim first. And Paypal in their correspondence to me has rightfully advised very strongly, to only close the dispute after I have received my payment.
So my query to Shopify:
1. Is it your company's policy to require the customer to close a Dispute Claim before the Terms of the Agreement between the Seller and Customer have been fulfilled?
2. And if the above is true, does Shopify guarantee that the Terms of the Agreement will be satisfied and the dues duly refunded after the dispute claim is closed?
Hoping for an early reply from you to lead to a resolution in this matter.

Do not do business with Shopify. The most unethical business practices I have ever experienced in 30 years in business. Upon completion of our most recent sale on October 8th 2022 we were notified by Shopify that our account had been selected for a "routine audit" and our funds were frozen until the review was complete. We immediately complied with their request for documents, despite the fact that it seemed unethical to conduct an audit without warning, and without prior notice and a chance to comply with document requests before funds were held, as is standard practice. It has been a week, the funds are still on hold, we have been told that we can't speak to anyone in the audit or compliance department, no explanation has been given about why our funds are on hold or why it is taking longer than a week to review a handful of basic business documents. We have a 6 year blemish free history with Shopify. They have arbitrarily frozen a substantial amount of money. They have caused us to suffer considerable financial damage as a result of their actions. We are reviewing our options with our legal counsel. Do not do business with Shopify. There are other E Commerce platforms out there.

Order #10305 for Meggie Tome. I ordered Hohem iSteady X2 and paid 649.00 but received a completely different item,which is a cheap plastic microphone stand. This shop should be banned from shipping their products they are clearly scamming their customers, and some people might just let this go because the process of refund is a hassle but the more we let this go the more people they will scam. On November 24 2021, my shopify sgtore was put as inactive by shopify. I reached out they opened the store pretty much immediately, then a few weeks later the same issue. They said I did not respond to an email they had sent. I checked my emails there was no missed emails. I reached out to my email provider, I checked my settings to be sure it wasnt being blocked for some reason adn I found it was not. I have now had my store shut down for a third time with still no reason as to why. It has now been down for two full days. I have lost sales, time, and potential new customers that you cannot put a price point on. I have been put into an emtional distress stage due to this issue not being resolved. When I do reach out they tell me they can't help me. They tell me there is no other solution other than this email. This is my business I pay for the site and shopify they do not own my store so to have it shut down for no reason and then not have anything at all be done to address the issue is unacceptable.
Desired outcome: Compensation for loss of sales, loss of potentail new customers, and emotional distress as well as my store opened immediately

I opened a shopify store, https://opaldog.com, and Shopify's systems autofilled bank details into my account. I entered my paypal info and assumed my payments would come through that way. After my first sales it became apparent the Shopify had filled in the bank details with details that are not mine.
Shopify refused to take responsibility for this instead saying I must have put these phantom details in, of course if I did I would have known the details and been able to change them.
So I could not change these details and had no option but to close my store forfeiting all profits and Shopify said they would refund my last month and did not even do that. All they refunded was the payment for the remainder of the month.
So they disabled my store but still took the payments for a functioning store and also barred me from accessing my profits.
Absolutely disgraceful company and even worse customer service.
Desired outcome: Refund of all lost monies and subscription that could not be used

The sad part is as a (at least on paper) they are a Canadian based outfit? I have many Canadian friends and these people don't represent Canada in any way. Fraudulent insurance sale
Shopify charged me for $300 shipping insurance on a UPS package on March 1, 2021. UPS lost the package and I filed a claim to be sent the $300 of insurance coverage, but the claim was denied. The reason cited was saying that the "terms and conditions" weren't followed, but no where on the Shopify insurance page are any such terms listed. https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shipping/shopify-shipping/shipping-insurance
Shopify is unethically charing small businesses for insurance, and denying coverage for lost packages based on loopholes in the terms they do not make available to customers.
When I called to resolve this I was told they "weren't responsible" for it at then the agent hung up on me.
This behavior is unethical and predatory.

Shopify customer service
I am making an official complaint against shopify support for failing to provide the service I am paying for as per contract.
You have been asked numerous times to pass to technical support and each time you refuse and instead a non technician does a quick test order and says no issues with site even though there is issues as customers have pointed out and the huge drop out rate clearly shows!
I wish to make an official complaint, I will also raise this online to depts in canada as you are illegally breaching your contract with me by failing to provide a service as agreed, also you are breaking the law by not providing a complaints procedure.
Desired outcome: Fix my issues and compensation for loss of income!!!!

Despite not having any operating accounts with Shopify, they continue ti take funds from my bank account each month. Contacting them is a long waste of time as they will not assist unless I have an operating account!

I ordered 4 dresses from this site which advertises on Facebook. Date of order 16/04/20. Order number: 1549. The first dress was the wrong size and faulty with ugly seams up and across the front, nothing like the advertised dress. I emailed several times. No response. The second and third dresses which arrived separately were OK. The final dress arrived a week ago. It was supposed to be blue but is black. I again emailed. Still no response. I set up a dispute on Paypal. Ladyoho messaged me requesting photos which I sent. After a long delay they messaged me to say that to get a refund I must return at my own expense which is non-refundable. They did not provide an address. Even if I had an address to return the items I do not understand why I should pay for shipping as it is their mistake. I posted a warning on their Facebook page advising potential customers not to order from them as they are obviously an unethical company with no pretemce of customer service. They have now blocked me from posting. I want a full refund for the two dresses I do not want. £40. They do not supply an address or phone number and do not respond to email.
I ordered an electric cleaning item from this company which advertises on Facebook. Date of order 22/04/20. Order number : 3128. It arrived on 8th June. It does not work at all. Completely useless. I ordered a top and some pants from Ladyoho. I didn't realize they were made in and shipped from China, and they took a long time to arrive. When ttey did, I didn't like either. Piece of crap company. Ordered two sun visors for my cars, instead received two snow covers. Totally worthless to me as I live in Southeast Texas and it does not snow here. Company wants me to keep it and sell it myself. Back and forth emails result in them offering me refund if I ship it back to them at my expense. Saltmof the earth is using tour platform and taking money from customers and sometimes more than they should and not sending the products there is not any way to contact them as emails are ignored, facebook messages are ignored and in my case was charged for something that should of been free just pay shipping and yet I was charged £100 and apparently ordered things I didnt request and yet still recieved nothing. As I said in emailed and messaged the company on platforms and have just been ignored. But recipts sent, confirmations sent of purchases and money taken and ignored all correspondence sent to change or halt order.. I am not the only one.. The buys and customer service returns, complaints procedure and all. The social media aspect seems all geeerd up on trickery and manipulation and they use your site..

It was delivered to 244 Ford Creek RD, Johnson City, TN 37615; my address is 7910 Vandever Rd, Crossville, TN 38572. The item was an electric scooter, purchased for $109.00.

Shopify acts worst than the mafia. They shake small businesses down for predatory fees after pushing predatory loans onto small business owners with deceptive terms.
When the small business owner falls behind on the loan shopify capital does not negotiate. It threatens the small business owner and locks their store which blocks their ability to see and service their orders. Ultimately destroying the business.
Shopify Capital, owned and operated by Shopify, is attempting to destroy my business. They have blocked me from seeing my own orders and instead of working with me to settle the balance - they have continued to threaten to destroy my fledgling business by forcing me to abandon orders placed.
If you are reading this please let this be a warning to you.
Avoid doing business with Shopify.
They turn real nasty real quick and can destroy your business If you're not careful. They have hijacked my business.
