Loan
I have used Huntington Bank in 2015 for a loan and used Huntington Bank for a loan on a new camper trailer this March. After about four months of waiting, I still had not received my new license plate from the Florida DMV after submitting my paperwork to obtain it. I find out from the Florida DMV Huntington STILL had not submitted title to Florida, or whatever the process is that Huntington is supposed to do to fulfill the requirements for me to register the trailer in Florida. I had talked to Huntington on the phone, as well Huntington had called me to inquire on information to help with the registration, so this department at Huntington had my correct phone number. It is now October, and STILL I cannot use my camper because Huntington, though contacted by myself and the Florida DMV on multiple occasions, cannot get their act together and work with the DMV to fulfill the proper paperwork.
Second issue with Huntington. I received an e mail from the credit reporting agencies that my overall credit score had dropped dramatically because apparently, I missed payments on the last two months, even though I called in these payments to Huntington, paying by check. I have always had excellent credit since the age of 17.
I immediately called Huntington and spoke to Jessica on 17 September at 11:04 A.M. (my calls are all recorded and I suggest anyone reading this get an app to do the same). Jessica said that though it shows I did call and attempt to pay, my checks did not go through for some reason. Come to find out I had made the mistake of adding the check number as part of the numbers for the account.
I asked Jessica why I had not been contacted? Why would Huntington Bank simply report this discrepancy to the credit reporting agencies, damaging my credit for possibly years to come, and dropping my credit score over 150 points. Jessica stated Huntington had called, sent e mails, and sent letters to my address. I explained to Jessica that I have received calls from Huntington in the past two months, but NOTHING regarding this issue (only camper trailer registration issue). I also explained I have not received ANY e mails nor ANY mail from Huntington explaining the late payments/nonpayment. I then asked her to verify all my information that she had for my loan.
Absolutely every piece of contact information Huntington had for my current loan was in error. Huntington Bank was using my old contact information for a loan I had over 7 years ago! They did not use any piece of my information I had entered onto my loan application in March of this year.
This is an absolute outrage, a total lack of responsibility and obligation by Huntington Bank.
Mobile banking deposit
I deposited a check through mobile banking and they put a hold on my account, the 7 days goes by and I call and discover a second hold was put on my account. They said it was because of the other bank but I called the company that wrote the check and was informed the funds were released the day the check was deposited into my account. This information came from the ceo of the company calling their bank and verifying this. I call Huntington back and they continue to lie to me about the hold nor will they let me access my account for reasons unknown to anyone
Desired outcome: My account being released
Account arbitrarily frozen
On 9/30/22, I was advised by one of my creditors that a regular monthly payment I make using ACH was returned by Huntington. On the 28th(?) I made a deposit transferring $500 from my credit Union account into my regular Huntington account, using the online deposit feature. At that time, I was advised they were placing a hold on the funds to allow the check to clear. Okay…odd, but okay. I’ve been with HB for about 10 years so it was surprising but not impossible. I am normally paid on the 30th, so I wasn’t worried about access to the funds. My regular employment paycheck would cover me.
I use online banking almost exclusively because the nearest actual branch of HB is a 25 minute drive for me. So, I went to log in and figure out what was up. I couldn’t log in. I tried to reset my password, thinking I may have misremembered it. Nope. So I called. Turns out, I not only had a hold on my $500 deposit, my entire account and all assets therein (including my recently deposited paycheck) was frozen. Without any explanation. When the hold ran out, I could ask to have my access restored.
So, here I am, with my regular monthly mortgage, my electric bill and an automatic savings plan payment (all long-standing and paid through ACH) being returned and accruing return fees of over $100.
The only explanation I was given was that the account was frozen for “confidential reasons” (confidential from ME, the account holder) and the very nice phone rep who was trying to help me was unable to even give me an example of what might constitute a reason. I’m left to wonder what reason this was done. Also, I continue to have no online access to my account, my checks are bouncing everywhere, and I have no funds to actually buy gas/food/medicine because I used a debit card for that, the debit card that is now a useless piece of plastic.
Desired outcome: I would also like someone to examine a corporate action that results in denying a long-term customer access to ALL funds, without explanation or warning, thereby removing my ability to buy basic necessities of life.
huntington bank has froze my account, i believe it its retribution for making there fraud dept. look incompetent. they tried to tell me that nearly 500.00 dollars of fraud charges were my fault and could do nothing about it. when i called the merchant myself, they admitted the mistake and reinbursed funds the next day. huntington bank is now making me pay for making them look like the ignorant bank they are... they even froze my pay from direct deposit, they didnt care about my family at all. 2 who are sick. im a veteran, they will play games with you, if you call them on anything. also, also there are. even there own employees at a local branch told me, DONT TRUST THIS BANK. they were absouloutly CORRECT. 7 family members were floored over there soulesss actions. they are pulling there funds out as soon as we decide who we will bank with...

Was laid off from Huntington - hold was then placed on my State issued unemployment funds
Good morning my name is Ryan Christy,
I’d previously worked for Huntington National Bank. I was let go on June 28th along with 164 fellow employees. I had roughly 22 years of total service.
I was let go Due to the rising interest rate market. I totally understood why I was laid off. I had no animosity or Ill will towards Huntington. In fact I continue to be an ambassador for the bank. I loved the company I had worked for and even after this I still bleed green.
I’m writing this for two reasons. The latest issue put me over the edge. It had taken me 6 weeks to get my unemployment compensation. I finally received my check Friday August 13th. I went to the bank as soon as I received it to deposit and bring my account current. The check was for $1590, I took $200 in order to get some groceries, and deposited the remainder of the funds.
On Saturday I had just went through the line at the grocery store I handed them my card but the order was declined. It was the most embarrassing moment of my life. Immediately I contacted HNB.
Apparently there was a hold placed on my account due to the check I deposited just one day earlier. My funds were not made available because Huntington placed a hold on my State Issued unemployment check that had taken me six weeks to receive. They told me the funds would not be available until the 19th.
Again, I had zero animosity for being let go. However, this was the second surprise I’ve encountered, I do want you folks to know I have contacted the Columbus dispatch as well. I have no idea weather or not they even care, but some folks in the community might find my story interesting.
I had made the decision to return to Huntington after leaving for a couple years. I realized the grass wasn’t greener on the other side. I had received what I believed to be a fantastic opportunity in 2018 and decided to leave after 20 years of service. I made the decision to return in March of 2021.
During the interview process I brought up the fact that I had spent twenty years with the bank and I was told I would receive credit for my prior service time. They told me it would be as if I never left. That was good enough for me and I made a decision to return on the spot.
So When I was laid off I was completely caught off guard when I was told I would only receive three weeks of pay as a severance. I had fully expected to receive three weeks pay for each of my 22 years of service. I guess I need to add a piece, in 2009 I had been laid off because I worked in our subprime lending department. That department was fazed out for multiple reasons. I was given a severance package that included a check for a little more than $11,000. I was only off for a week, since I found another job inside our loss mitigation department. I returned the check Huntington had given me in order to continue working for the Bank I loved.
When I was laid off on June 28t the HR staff informed that Huntington had made some changes to Huntington severance program. They actually informed me that it was updated a few weeks prior to the 165 employees being let go.
Apparently A decision had been made to reduce the severance to pay just one week for every year of service versus three weeks pay for every year. With a stipulation that we would receive a minimum of three weeks pay. I must admit that bummed me out, but I knew I had worked for Huntington over 21 years, so I would receive pay equivalent to 21 years of service. I few moments later I was informed that a change was also made that only covered me through my recent rehire date. Which only gave me credit for a little over one year or service. I was devastated, mostly because the employee I loved and trusted would do something like this, especially someone who poured their heart and soul into Huntington. Someone who had donated countless hours to Huntington sponsored community events.
So instead of receiving 66 weeks pay for my total service I received pay just three weeks.
This issues with my unemployment check being placed on-hold helped me make the decision to contact the Columbus dispatch and share my story.
Again, I’m not even sure this is news worthy. I was the longest tenured employee in the department. I was also one of the most recent folks rehired so I understand the dec to lay me off. I just think some of the folks in the local community might find it interesting. I wanted to make them aware of how I’ve been treated after being let go. I also thought I would make you aware. Hopefully give Huntington a chance to right a wrong before speaking to anyone.
I really need to get some food. Please make the funds in my checking account available immediately. So I can get back to the store.
I would also like for someone to reconsider my severance package but that’s not the most import thing to me. It’s getting food to me and my family today.
Thanks so much for reading.
Desired outcome: I need to go to grocery store. I need someone to make at least $300 available to me today. Immediately
im glad i dont have to kiss this banks [censored]...
Overdraft program
Huntington Bank appears to have violated the Regulation E by debiting my account over $1600.00 in overdraft fees, during the time period of February 2022 –August 2022. The Regulation E sets forth practices and policies that banks must comply with. Regulation E speaks specifically to overdrafts and overdraft programs that banks may have. Regulation E requires affirmative consent by the consumer as well as a variety of disclosures by banks.
I began my banking relationship with Huntington Bank in January 2022. My checking and savings account with Huntington Bank were opened at the downtown Columbus, Ohio branch. The account was opened by a banker that was working in that location. I was a very happy customer with the service that I received at this location. Upon reviewing an account statement in April 2022 I noticed several charges that were not mine. Further review of these aforementioned charges made me come to the conclusion that they were fraudulent and most definitely unauthorized. Referring to Huntington Bank’s website, the bank suggested that in such circumstances that the customer contact them by phone or write to them at an address that was listed on the site. I proceeded with the latter of the two options and sent a detailed letter listing the unauthorized charges and that I did not know some of the merchants, and that said charges were not authorized by me. I did not receive a response from Huntington Bank with regards to this letter. Due to the fact that I did not receive a response from Huntington Bank with regards to my April 2022 letter, I dispatched a duplicate copy of said letter during the second week of May 2022. I did not receive a response from Huntington Bank with respect to the second letter that I sent them.
Due to the total lack of response from Huntington Bank I called their customer service during the early part of August 2022. Speaking with a representative in the disputes department, I was able to confirm that the mail communications were sent to the correct address. The representative adequately acted upon my claim that said transactions were not authorized. Subsequently she immediately credited my account for these fraudulent charges. During this call I also indicated to the representative that my account had incurred numerous fees over the last several months and that said charges has cascading, seemingly increasing each month. I requested a fee reversal (a refund) of said fees due to the fact that my communications were not answered. I stated that many of said fees would not have been incurred if Huntington Bank would have opened my letters and took appropriate and required action.
The representative spent time reviewing all fees that were being incurred on the account. She spent a great deal of time explaining out of network ATM fees and how to avoid them. However, upon reviewing my account with her it was totaled that my account was debited for a total of over 1600.00 in overdraft fees. It was my position during this call that my responsibility for these fees should be shared with Huntington Bank due to the fact that Huntington Bank errored when not appropriately responding to mail that they had received. The representative stated that there was nothing that she could do.
During the time span noted above my checking account incurred over $1600.00 worth of overdraft fees. When my account was opened at the downtown Columbus, Ohio location I did not sign up, approve, or give any type of consent (express or implied) to be enrolled or participate in any type of program that would allow for the accrual of such fees.
I would demand that my account be credited for the incurred overdraft fees, due to the fact that affirmative authorization to enroll in said program was never given.
Desired outcome: I want the fees that were taken from my account
Customer servcie
Today I had to contact customer service at Huntington Bank. The first guy that I got had a non American accent. I had to give him a personal number of mine that Huntington has and I had to repeat it three times because he couldn't get them right. I hung up and called back a woman answered with a non American accent. I asked her where she was physically located at and she told me, the Philippines. I thought my bank, Huntington, was an American bank. I asked to be transferred to a call center in the United States. I just about blew my lid. I was transferred to a customer service representative in the United States and it was really hard being nice. The guy apologized about 3 times and I realized that it wasn't his fault that he worked for a screwy bank. Time for me to look for a new bank. This is not the first, second or seventh time I've been unhappy with Huntington. It's probably in the 20's. This morning I had to wait in the drive through for over 15 minutes to deposit money into an account. Usually the
ATM is broke down. They have closed most of the inner city banks and I have to drive to a branch on the outskirts of town. I guess that's where the people woh have more money reside.
New Mortgage
We used the online contacts for Huntington Mortgages. Nightmare. They purposely drag out to charge buyers rate lock fees. When we ask questions, the Lender could not answer. Example: What are your rate lock fees? Answer : "Minimal". We were forced to get a flood policy and pay for it before an appraisal and before an inspection to "prevent a delay in closing" We were told if had to go to their "flood review team" . Their flood review team approved it then after the 6th time trying to close, they say "its not acceptable". They don't return calls, texts, emails, they are sent information and they lose it and drag things out longer. All the while charging the borrower .125 then .375 then . 585 on rate extension fees. The time was all Huntington's fault for delays, errors and mistakes. We still have not got money back on the 1st policy we paid for at 1300 then had to pay for a 2nd policy through a separate company. So the original fees could not be applied to the new policy but Huntington argued they could. Huntington tried to blame the insurance agent who tried to get them to use a quote. The lending agent was dishonest so we tried contacting a manager. The Manager said she was too busy because has 'back-to-back meetings" and had a coworker call us. We were told by they processor "Only call me" then the Lender said the same about the processor, Dont call him "Only call me". It was total dysfunction, disrespectful and unprofessional. All the while just caused us a tidelwave of additional fees and problem. Oh and not a word after finally closed. Just a text from the coworker saying Great. Should be laws to Prevent people from being taken advantage of. They did delete the rate lock fees due to complaining but the fees accumulated all because of them! Nightmare for any first time buyer and experienced buyer.
Desired outcome: At minimum should be held accountable for the fees of the first flood policy. 500 to 1295.00.
Checking Account
On July 30, 2022, at 11:18 am I received an alert that $1100.00 was withdrawn from our checking account. This should not have happened because neither my husband nor myself which are the only two people on the account did not authorize this transaction. I later received a phone call from my son who ask me if $1100.00 was withdrawn from our account because he went to the bank showed his driver's license to withdraw this amount from his account, he was given the money, but he did not get the alert. So, upon checking his account he saw that the money did not come out of his account. We want something to be done about this because this is telling us that your tellers are making mistakes and not verifying information as they should. If people share the same name or even the same address, all information should be verified before any transaction is made. We do not have the same account numbers, so therefore money should not have been withdrawn out of our checking account.
Desired outcome: To be compensated by the bank for making that mistake.
Scam not refunded
This incident had occurred on June 30th between 2:30pm and 6:30pm. I had lash extensions posted on facebook marketplace for about a month. Someone had messaged me from marketplace wanting to purchase them for $245.00 the listing price. She stated she lived in Boardman where I lived, but she did not have that information. She sent me $245 through Zelle under a business transaction. After that payment she sent me there was an email sent through zelle customer service stated my account needed upgraded to a business account. That email stated the buyer would pay an extra 300.00 dollars to upgrade the account and then I would refund her the extra money back once the account was a business account. So she sent the money over, the next email stated that if I did not follow the next steps my account would be seized to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. So I sent her back her extra 300.00 dollars and later got an email that said she did not receive that money beings the account was under maintenance and that it would be seen back into my account within 3-4 hours. So once the account was finished under maintenance I resent that 300.00. I ended up not receiving any of my money back.
Desired outcome: Please get refunded the $600.00 I was lost in the scam.
Order taker Shawn Glavin : dishonest Banker
This “SalesMan” calls you up : tells you there is a problem w/your accounts … only to find he’s just trying to sell Bank Products. Feel he is a Stain on bank and all legit Sales People who have enough faith in product to be be honest / up front ! A sad Order Taker -
Desired outcome: The man appears to have no values/morals - a stain on anyone he works with.. and he has no understanding of basic 101 sales technique - which makes him a danger !
Closing account
These people have got to be the most ignorant, stupid bunch of low level crooks in Banking. My son died 5 months ago and they do not know how to close/transfer his account. Local branch sent me to corporate who yelled at me that "this is a local branch issue". Now local branch will not return my numerous voicemail's. Customer Service number won't help. Corporate says they have a department that handles this but I am not allowed to call them or email them. Honestly, the only reason my son had accounts at Huntington was through a buyout of TCF in Minnesota. You could not pay me to do business with Huntington.
Desired outcome: I need my son's accounts transferred to me
Checking/Savings
I had disputes on an account and after months of dealing with this and speaking to disputes (almost daily), CS and account recover, Agency Management. My accounts, even the ones not affected by this, were force closed. The money was taken from my joint accounts with my husband to pay these. The company the week prior started the refund process on the disputed amounts. Disputes and other departments were sent all correspondence showing that the company was taking responsibility. I have been a long term customer of Huntington. This is a major issue and now looks bad on me. When the issues were nothing of my fault. Yes, I am also reviewing said company for the incorrect ACH debits.
Desired outcome: Re open my accounts
Waiting for responses.
Mobile deposit
Ok so back in february I tried to deposit my pay check via mobile app.. It kept saying the picture wasn’t clear enough over and over so I went to my huntington interest account to deposit they check via mobile. Well this time I worked but put a hold on my check.. And every single time I call to see what up they give me another number to call or a email and keep sending me in cycles trying to get the money I worked my [censored] off for.. Then get this.. It’s now [censored]in april. I get statement in the mail saying the money is in my account but when I call to get access to it they tell me they can’t get access to my account? Then they call my damn employer. And lie saying I moblie deposited the check then showed up in person at the bank and cashed the same check.! And that’s a bold face lie because 1 never went to the bank period. 2 I definitely didn’t receive the money one time sure as hell didn’t get it twice.. Plus if I took the money why would I have gotten a statement saying as of 4/13 the exact amount of the check was sitting in my account.! So they stole my money. And managed to get me fired. And possibly facing criminal charges. That I sure as hell can’t afford to get a lawyer to help me with. So thanks huntington bank you seriously ruined my hole life and stole my hard earned money.
Desired outcome: There’s isn’t anything that could right the wrong they done to me.
False overdraft of $64.34
On February 28th I had a duplicate charge of $64.34 – the money I used to buy a pair of boots from Boscov’s. The store passed the dead cat in the bank’s garden. The bank credited my account with $64.34, telling me that the store will pay these money back to them. The store said to them that I “authorized” the transaction, so they have not any fault. I authorized the transaction for $64.45 and not for $128.90! One week later I received a letter that is telling me that “I overdraft my account” with $60.34 and I need to pay these money sooner as possible. First of all, the overdraft option is OFF on my account. What they’ve done to me is fraud. I don’t know if the store stole those money from my account, or the bank itself. No matter which one of two did that, it is NOT my responsibility to pay for their theft. And I did NOT overdraft my account. This is a lie. I will report this situation to a superior forum, and I need to resolve it in my favor. I hear other people complaining about the same issues.
Desired outcome: To don't be charged for the "overdraft" I supposedly made of $64.34. It is not my responsibility to pay for money that were simply STOLEN from my account.
Standby cash
First of all I like the state that I’ve been with Huntington Bank for many many years and I never really had a problem. But my complaint is about the standby cash in the beginning I had deposited a decent amount of money from the inheritance and I was given standby cash that I could use up to thousand dollars I thought wow that’s pretty cool and at one point I ended up using some of it and I paid it completely back on the first payment. Then because my bank account dwindled down due to purchasing a home they lowered my standby cash to $500 and I was OK with that and I borrowed against that another time and I paid it back on the first payment completely. As of this morning April 19 I got a notification stating that I can no longer use the standby cash because I do not have a consistent of $200 in my account at all times. I feel that that is discrimination against those who struggle check the check but still can maintain paying back the standby cash when they do borrow it I have a checking and a savings but yet I’m Bing because my checking doesn’t carry a $200 balance every single day. As I said before I feel it’s discrimination against those who live check to check I feel that Huntington needs to reevaluate and at least give people a chance to be able to use the standby cash with a small amount in it I’m not asking for $1000 to be in my standby cash but it would be nice to be able to fall back on some standby cash when times are tough and I thought that was the reason for standby cash .
Desired outcome: Allow standby cash for those who can’t keep a minimum of $200 in their bank account every day give other people a chance to be able to borrow.
Standby cash
mine isn't a complaint really but I am suppose to make a payment on April 15th for $144 but I won't have that money until Monday May 18th can I go in and pay it now and put the 18th in instead of Friday the 15th? Or will it pull money on both days if I do that?
Wondering your criteria as I was given $300 to start with then changed to $500 while I am in Florida and could use the extra cushion but you took the $500 away without any warning back to $300 and then when I attempted to make that work you took another $50 away for $250. Now once I get this paid off will only use it for emergencies but I was in Florida at the time and needed it. So I just get social security every 3rd Wednesday of the month so why the fluctuation of my limit so many times in such a short time. I can't rely on it for what I would use it for going forward for emergencies. So two questions thank you!
Desired outcome: I would like to pay my stand by cash of $144 on Monday April 18th instead of the 15th then would pay the remainder in May.Plus would like to know my credit limit and know it won't be changed without warning so many times.
