JES Foundation Repair The JES crew (John, Nate, Thomas, Andrew, Rob, and Luke) that came for my home repairs,

The JES crew (John, Nate, Thomas, Andrew, Rob, and Luke) that came for my home repairs were polite, professional, and efficient. They installed five footings and jacks and two I-beams as recommended by the engineer. They did a great job with the crawl space lining. They kept me updated on their progress and I was comfortable leaving them to work while I was at my job. The only issue was the town inspector's late arrival to inspect the footing holes, delaying the concrete setting. This meant the main beam and floor raising couldn't be completed then. They informed me about this and said they'd contact me in two weeks to finish the work. True to their word, I was contacted, Brian set up an appointment, and he adjusted the jacks. Afterward, the cracks in my walls closed, and the three previously uncloseable doors worked perfectly. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the crew and the work outcome.

We received quotes for a full encapsulation from the top three foundation companies in the Virginia Beach area. JES was selected based on the thoroughness of the evaluation by Collin from sales. He presented all the installation requirements including financing options and was very patient with our long list of questions about the entire process. The project started on time with a crew led by Josh and Kyle. Each day they called to inform us when they would be arriving and reviewed the work to be performed on that day in addition to reviewing progress at the end of each day to ensure there were no issues and that they were on schedule. I would highly recommend JES due to their work ethic and attention to customer needs.

Can't speak highly enough about the team. Starting off, Howard's inspection & diagnosis was incredibly thorough and he took the time to answer all my questions and fully explain his findings. Jaime, Armando and Jason did excellent work and kept me informed throughout. Being an old house, there were a few unexpected obstacles that cropped up, and the guys tackled each one competently and efficiently. They also went above and beyond when it came to cleaning up after the work, including hauling away some old debris that wasn't even related to the job. The bulk of their work was in the basement where I have a wood shop, and I really appreciated how much care they took to cover the tools and navigate a tight space while keeping everything safe from damage. I feel confident in the results of their work and better educated about the process. Thanks so much!

Manuel, Jose, and Ever did a great job installing our waterproofing system. They completed the work on schedule, explained what they were doing each day, and cleaned up the work area well.

JES Foundation Repair Had a basement gutter/sump pump system installed

Had a basement gutter/sump pump system installed. During installation - I had several concerns - mostly with gutter sections not meeting flush. There were gaps of sometimes over an inch. I was told that this was standard practice - that these gaps are taped up and that the concrete still forms the gutter channel. I have to take them at their word.

After installation - I found their concrete work very sloppy. I knew that the color wouldn't match...that's no concern. But the new concrete is lumpy and unlevel. The 'feathered' edge is gritty and raw.

There were hairline cracks in the existing slab caused by the jackhammering that were never addressed. Their new concrete work cracked like crazy - which I know isn't a big issue because the gutter is now suppose to collect the water, but I am reluctant to put any sort of weight on this new concrete. Contractor friends of mine have commented on the sloppy nature of the concrete work.

But more so, and most critically, JES has had to come out twice after install to correct issues that, in my opinion, are egregious: the installers didn't glue the PVC sections - which led to water in my basement whenever the sump ran.

When you spend *** on something, I expect it to be the utmost quality. The only reason this isn't a one star review is that everyone I've dealt with has been incredibly polite, and has owned up to these mistakes. Outside of one gentlemen who smoked on my property - everyone at JES is very amiable.

Since, being *** I've had to take control over home repairs that used to be my husband's responsibility. Because I've had my share of unscrupulous workmen and companies take advantage of my situation, I've learned to be cautious. I took my time and found JES by approaching folks with a JES truck or trucks parked in their driveway. The onsite reviews I gathered from these folks having repairs helped me make the right decision. Paul made the diagnosis and Roberto, Jose, Alan, and Diego made it happen. All of the men were courteous, professional, and punctual. Not once did I feel I was being bamboozled. I am more than satisfied with the company and the folks who help to make JES the go-to company for peace of mind when I'm caring for my piece of heaven. Thanks JES!

JES Foundation Repair In September , my elderly mother hired JES to repair her crawl space

In September , my elderly mother hired JES to repair her crawl space, addressing water, mold, and mildew issues. She praised JES's work, but after moving to assisted living, we found the crawl space still had problems when selling her home. A homebuyer's inspector discovered mold, mildew, and water in June , despite a partially installed vapor barrier. Contacting JES, I learned there was no warranty, and they cited a reduced contract price due to an existing sump pump. They promised to follow up but never did. The homebuyers chose another company for repairs, incurring additional costs. Despite my mother's dementia and lost contract, we have the final invoice stating terms for transferable warranties upon full payment, which was made. It's puzzling how JES maintains high customer ratings.

JES Foundation Repair I hired JES to do extensive work on a 91-year-old house I recently purchased

I hired JES to do extensive work on a 91-year-old house I recently purchased. This included installing new support posts and beams in the basement, foundation drains, replacing two sump pumps and adding a third, plus waterproofing the crawl spaces and basement walls.
The work was completed a few days earlier than estimated. The workers- Tyrone, Donte, Clifford, and Floyd - were highly professional. They were friendly, efficient, kept me informed of progress each day, as well as calling me each morning to tell me they were on their way. The work itself appears to be excellent. One minor problem appeared with a sump pump after work was finished, but they came out quickly to fix it.
The only complaint I have with the company itself was that the contract indicated my only responsibility was to clear the basement, which I did. I was not advised that it was also my responsibility to provide dedicated outlets for each of the three sump pumps. After repeatedly asking when the electrical work would be performed, I was advised at the last minute it was not in the contract. They were able to contact a subcontractor to install the outlets after they completed their work as a *** addendum to the contract. Reviewing the contract, I finally found in the fine print on page 7 of 12 that the words "electrical work" had been included as an item under Customer's Responsibilities, Cosmetic Repairs. I do not consider the installation of new circuits to be a "repair" but a necessary requirement for the functioning of the new sump pumps. This item needs to be emphasized in future contracts to avoid misunderstandings.

My wife and I would like to thank Larry *** for all of his help during our experience with JES. He was knowledgeable about how things were to progress. He made sure we understood exactly what he was doing. He took many pictures and explained them concisely. He addressed our concerns and was very calming. He gets 10 stars from us. Should I need JES in the future, Larry *** will be the representative that I will request. He has excellent people skills, the ability to break down the process so we understood and was very respectful by wearing his mask at all times while he was in our home. I would highly reccomend using Larry *** to anyone who hires JES for any scope of work.
Respectfully,
Danny

What a relief! We no longer dread rainstorms now that JES waterproofed our basement. The work was done quickly and professionally. The crew worked tirelessly and left the area clean and neat. And, during their preparation for the job and the work itself they did their best to lessen the necessary impact of the job (noise, dust and debris). Arturo *** supervised the project, was a constant presence to ensure the work went well, and ensured we were happy with the result. Shortly after completion, we had a day and a half of rain and the basement remained dry. Thank you, Arturo, the crew, and JES!

If I could file a report with a half star I would. My husband and I entered into a contract May with JES with a cash agreement. Little did I know that we entered into the contract from ***. We had a 3 day agreement that turned out to be 90 days. We received 4 different bills. Day one they split the line to our water pump. They broke two pipes that cost us *** We received a broken DU and our plumber caught that when they came out to fix the broken pipe. They are literally charging the cost back to us for the broken pipes. The second that a permit was finalized we had a call 20 minutes later from JES demanding money. The communication was pathetic, with the office and installers, many times we didn't know that they were coming and we had to alter many days to accommodate them.

JES Foundation Repair Todd from JES, a Certified Field Inspector, gave us an overpriced estimate.

After a free estimate from Todd at JES, we found the price too high and declined. Todd persisted with calls to lower the price, but we remained uninterested. Later, we were wrongly informed that JES completed the work and we were bound by a loan. We hadn't agreed to any work or loans, so we contacted the fraud department. Despite assurances, we received no updates. Multiple calls to Todd went unanswered until legal representation got involved. Todd claimed innocence and disconnected. We're pursuing legal action for harassment and fraud against JES and Todd, and filing complaints to seek justice and prevent further exploitation.

JES Foundation Repair We contacted JES mid-Dec 2020 after we discovered dampness in a wall near the fireplace in the walkout lower level rec room

We contacted JES mid-Dec 2020 after we discovered dampness in a wall near the fireplace in the walkout lower level rec room. Kurt from the Salem/Roanoke, VA office was available to respond quickly, did a thorough inspection of the wall, the entire lower level, and outside of the house, and proposed an extensive solution for water-proofing the wall and catching/removing any potential water from under the floor. However, he could not find a definite source for water getting in the wall, and suggested that it might be coming down from around the chimney and not from the ground around the foundation outside. He returned a second time with Brian to re-evaluate the situation and the proposed job. They then discussed it with the project manager Nick, who called me to say that they although the proposed project should keep the walls dry, it would not stop the source of the water, i.e., probably a leak around the chimney, which was not the type of work that JES does. We mutually agreed to cancel the job, and we were refunded our deposit soon afterwards. Even though we ended up not using JES, I appreciated the availability, thoroughness, and honesty of all three employees, especially Nick made the final call and saved us a huge, unnecessary expense. (We ended up needing a new roof and resealing around the top of the chimney.) My only regret was feeling somewhat pressured into our having to make an immediate decision about agreeing to the proposed job and paying a deposit on the initial visit. I assume this is company policy, but we were greatly relieved and grateful that we were able to cancel with a full refund, when it was determined that we needed a different type of repair.

JES Foundation Repair JES completed a crawl space encapsulation for me in July

JES completed a crawl space encapsulation for me in July . I have waited a few months to do this review because I wanted to see how things went after the job was done. Ben *** Certified Field Inspector did the initial onsite visit. Ben was great to work with in that he was very professional, knowledgeable, and thorough as he completed the crawl space evaluation. He spent several hours with me explaining the process, showing pictures from the crawl space, answering my questions etc. We discussed price and he was willing to negotiate to my satisfaction. Because of Ben, I decided to have the job done. Manny and his crew did the onsite work under the supervision of Terrence *** Production Manager who went above and beyond expectations to complete the project to my satisfaction including several post job followups. I was very impressed with Terrence's working knowledge, high expectations and willingness to answer my researched questions. In my opinion, he is an asset to the company. Tamesha *** office staff was quite helpful in making necessary calls to get subcontracted electrical work and inspections completed. My HVAC contractor recently inspected my crawl space and was very impressed with the outcome.
I gave JES Solutions a ranking of 4 out of 5 because there is room for improvement. I would like to suggest to Company management that women and /or Seniors homeowners need to have (in the contract) the inclusion of a dehumidifier remote control device such as the *** control that can be installed inside the customer's home providing easy access for daily monitoring of the crawl space humidity levels throughout the year and making necessary changes without having to crawl into the crawl space which can be dangerous as you get older and is not something women want to do! Also the onsite field inspector needs to explain to the customer that there will be two inspections once the job is started (who will do them, when and why). The onsite work crew needs to keep the customer informed when inspections occur. With the inclusion of these suggestions, I would give JES Solutions a ranking of 5 out of 5!
Jean

JES Foundation Repair We have a weekend house in Heathsville, VA that has some water issues outside of our house due to the grading of the yard

We have a weekend house in Heathsville, VA that has some water issues outside of our house due to the grading of the yard. We signed a contract with JES *** during the Thanksgiving holiday and they were supposed to complete the work during the week of 2/22 to 2/25. The french drain installation and the downspout connections were done completely, including the concrete work for the sidewalk. But things went downhill on the speed-D channel work. There has been a lot of confusion and scheduling issues on the speed-D channel installation. Initially, I was told that the speed-D channel would have to be installed during the concrete work. Since they contracted the concrete work, the contractors do not have the speed-D channel and the JES superintendent indicated that the speed-D channel would have to be scheduled at another time. A week and half went by and now the speed D channel install was scheduled. During the install, they are now saying that it should have been done during the concrete work. At this point, all I want is for them to install the speed-D channel and they can move on to other stuff. I checked their work on the speed-D channel and it is missing the couplers (to attach each channel) and end outlets. I was told that they do not have those "connectors" and that each channel will just have to be "touching" and that is how they normally do it. The end channel is "sortof" connected to the main drain. I was hoping that they would do it the way speed-D channels should have been installed. But instead, they are missing the correct parts to put it in place properly. At this point, the speed-D channel is solely dependent on drain rocks to drain out of the channel. I complained this to their JES superintendent but that really went nowhere. He was supposed to inspect the job but he never came. I completely made the wrong decision in getting JES to do this work for us. Now I am kicking myself and wished I would have chosen some less-known but more knowledgeable contractors with the correct materials to do this project. The biggest mistake I made is signing off and paying the entire project with unsatisfied and unprofessional work on our speed-D channel installation.

JES Foundation Repair The wonderful Chris ** came to my home for a foundation inspection

The wonderful Chris *** came to my home for a foundation inspection. My appointment was scheduled for 1pm, however he texted the day prior to introduce himself, confirm appointment, and inform me that he had an earlier time available if I would be interested in getting my home inspected earlier. His voicemail was clear, very PROFESSIONAL, and warm/welcoming. I already felt like I was in good hands. Chris texted when he finished his morning appointment to confirm when he could be at my house. He came RIGHT ON TIME! (PUNCTUAL) When he arrived, his demeanor was just as I thought from our written communication PROFESSIONAL and WARM, as well as VERY COURTEOUS. Chris was so RESPECTFUL of my home. He took his shoes off upon entering, wanted to again make sure it was okay that he came earlier than the originally scheduled appointment, and graciously thanked me. He asked about my concerns and listened carefully. We then walked through through my home and discussed my areas of concern. He measured, took pictures, and while downstairs, he explained what area in the ceiling the crack/pressure is coming from upstairs. He was THOROUGH! We walked around the outside front and back where he also measured, took pictures, and listened intently about my structural/foundation issues around the house. Chris again gave a very THOROUGH analysis of what the land/foundation had going on. He gave some detailed suggestions of what I needed to do to fix the issues. He assured me, honestly that what he inspected is not as bad as I thought, however the issues do need to be addressed soon or it will get worse. He ensured that I understood the prognosis and suggestions to correct as he finished up his paperwork. Mind you, this visit was "only" the FREE inspection. I am amazed at the QUALITY OF SERVICE given for just the free inspection. I can only imagine how wonderful their work would be. He was so kind, courteous, concerned, caring, professional, respectful, and thorough. I have worked with so many businesses throughout the process of renovating my home and these qualities are hard to find with even the most highly recommended/rated companies. It was a pleasure to work with Chris *** from JES today. KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE and notable work ethic!

JES Foundation Repair Would NOT recommend any work from the Manassas Office of JES

Would NOT recommend any work from the Manassas Office of JES. This office has poor customer service and communication. I have sent emails and requested phone calls, of which they do not return calls and when they do send emails, it curt and does not answer the situation.

The job was to dig around the foundation to reseal the outside of the foundation/basement. JES informed me on the morning of the scheduled work that they needed to push back a day due to weather without checking the forecast for the location of home which is located 40 from JES office. When they did show up to the job site, they were not equipped with all necessary tools.
JES cut my water line (private water utility) and continued to dig up pipe thus causing replacement of 12 feet of water line vice 2 feet of water line, this was a substantial difference is repair cost that I paid. JES originally tried to have me incur all costs but stated that I proved that I was only responsible for the first 2 feet of damaged pipe and the supervisor had the crew continued to dig/damage the rest of the pipe after it was located. JES's plumber was unavailable, so I located a local plumber who did the repair, being out at my home until 10:00 pm that evening. I paid the emergency fees out of my pocket.

JES then cut the water line AGAIN on the following day, even though the water line was visible, and the area should have been dug by hand and not with mechanized equipment. The foreman did not inform me of this damage, I only learned of the water being shut off when I tried to use my sink. JES could not locate a plumber to do the second repairs therefore I had to obtain my plumber, who was at the house until 11:00 pm fixing the problem. Again, I had to pay out of pocket.

When addressing this to JES, they did remove both days fee (minus the *** for the 2 feet of waterline) but stated "This was a curtesy from us to you." Even though the fault was JES and not mine once the pipe was visibly located.

Once the job was finished, within a week the sealant on the foundation began to peal and JES had to return to "repair" and reseal at ground level.

The work was shoddy, JES left the job site looking like a new construction site, as the finished work was minimal with seed and straw but no grading, therefore my yard was a muddy mess.

I contacted JES in May to provide a proposal for a crawl space encapsulation since we have had a musty smell in our family room which has added to health concerns. The sales person/inspector came and provided a reasonable proposal. We scheduled the work for later in May. The crew arrived later than expected and apologized for the lateness. They cleaned out some debris from the crawl space and proceeded to lay the contracted material. They finished 5 hours later and requested me to provide a review of their work to an internal JES survey system. The crew left before I could inspect the workmanship, when I went to inspect the work I noticed that the dehumidifier discharge hose was not connected (laying on top of an electrical cord) nor was the pipe to drain the dehumidifier installed to the outside of house. I waited until the morning to see if there were additional issues with the installation and there were, the dehumidifier drained right on top of the plastic covering, the plastic covering was not properly secured and the mold that was noticed on the inspection in early May was never treated. I took pictures and sent them to the salesperson/inspector and was contacted immediately. I met with the production supervisor, George, 3 days later and he was upset at the lack for proper installation and promised to make it right. To make it right was going to cost me an additional because I now needed a sump pump. I pointed to the contract and said we were never told we needed one (listed as N/A on the contract). They agreed to fix the issues and install a sump pump at no additional cost after I told them that I had two other companies out to inspect what was done and both companies said I was overcharged by *** and that a sump pump was absolutely needed. Since they have a deposit and I felt like JES was going to make it right, I asked for the corrections to be noted in writing either a change order to the contract or a new contract. I have yet to receive the change order/ new contract and it is now going on a month of promises. They were scheduled to come soon but because they can't provide anything in writing I am not comfortable having a new group of installers come out to correct problems. I called and asked to speak to another supervisor because I want a refund of my deposit since it was a poor installation and no one is putting anything in writing. The receptionist said he was in a meeting and would call me ASAP, I called again 5 hours later and he is still in that meeting.

JES Foundation Repair I had 1 Pending review on a platform and JES deleted it. My official review is as follows: Horrible experience

I had 1 Pending review on a platform and JES deleted it. My official review is as follows: Horrible experience. I've personally never dealt with or witnessed a company place the customer on the back burner like JES has. Zero communication, planning, and accountability. My house is now in worse shape then before JES performed their work. They broke my back door and ruined my entire kitchen floor by pulling the slack out of the line that feeds my dishwasher from the crawl space where the work took place. The installers show up to my house and after day 1 they wanted me to take a peek at their work. After evaluating their work I asked where the sump pump was. They looked confused and responded with, 'You get a sump pump? I don't think you get a sump pump, at least nobody mentioned sump pump to us in today's meeting. Let's hope not because if so, we would have to complete more digging and all of the crawl space is covered now.' They show up the next day and say, 'You were right Mr. we found the paperwork on a desk today before we left the office and you do have a sump pump being installed.' Moving along, JES installed the wall panels for insulation and more importantly to keep any rodents and bugs from getting into the home. Long story short, I have more crickets now than I did before. The salesman (Zach) explained this to my wife as this portion of the waterproofing will keep everything out of the house. This was important to my wife, she made it known in the initial consultation and I guess Zach took advantage of it, the same way any typical salesman would. Not only did I get my basement waterproofed, but I had foundation repair completed. JES says they completed the foundation repair, but when I got home and checked the work, the 12' crack going down my foundation was still there. I saw 3 very small items that resemble bolts going into my foundation. 3 trips later from JES personnel and we finally get the crack covered/sealed. The fact of the matter is you pay a lot of money to get this work done because you absolutely need to protect your home. You want to believe in your heart that you will be getting your money's worth and more importantly that your home is in great hands. Truth is, I have no idea how many corners JES cut. I caught them personally avoiding important tasks in the waterproofing and foundation repair. So why should I believe the work they've done is 100% and done right? This worries me beyond belief. Lastly but probably most important, if you have issues or concerns with the work being done on your home, in almost every situation you can always rely on management or office personnel to clear things up for you. That is not the case with JES. I literally had to track the salesman Zach down to get answers on when this work was going to commence because I waited MONTHS without hearing a peep. As the issues/concerns mentioned above arose I reached out to the JES office IMMEDIATELY. Nobody could seem to get a hold of Zach. I was passed around to about 2 separate managers and again, it was like pulling teeth trying to get answers out of these guys! One response I got was, 'I barely have time to eat a sandwich'. As if I am supposed to care after paying a significant amount to get work done. I was being told there is going to be crews coming to 'finish' the work on specific days for them to just not show up. Go figure, no phone call or heads up from management letting me know these guys won't be there. Complete disregard for my job and my schedule. Imagine, just imagine how you would feel if everything in the world is seemingly going wrong with this work and you're not getting the answers you need from anyone. JES made my wife and I feel totally uncomfortable. We feel like we have been robbed. Once we signed those papers, they didn't seem to give a darn about how the installation process was going, the issues that came about and any questions/concerns we (the customer) had. I am a project manager myself and we take pride in customer service at my place of work. It's a shame to see some companies reach a high level of success and at some point along the way morals, principles, and company pride go out the window. To be clear, the effort from the field crews were A+. Those men can only do as they're told. These guys should be getting management's paychecks! JES has a system in place to encourage customers to leave great reviews on a platform. By leaving a great review for the work, they say that is the way to show your appreciation for those guys and they will get recognition. Again, just to be clear those guys I would hire any day of the year. My issue is with JES management.

JES Foundation Repair It's taken me months to be able to construct a review with tact

It's taken me months to be able to construct a review with tact. From the beginning, after thinking about this, why would anyone let a company tell them what their foundation needs, when the person who comes to assess your home, refuses to look at the minimal structural damage inside your home? The three companies I had to the house prior, did want to look at the inside of my home and said it was very imperative to see what may be going on inside the home. JES had zero interest. Also, why would anyone let a company do work without looking at sections of your foundation first? I'll tell you who does: Me! A single female, living with her elderly mother. I am positive I was the perfect, naive customer, any company dreams of. The young man, 'Thomas', who showed up to 'look at my foundation', said we could get a piece of equipment up here to dig and I agree'd. When the workers showed up with only shovels, I asked where the piece of equipment was at to dig with and they told me (we'll just say by a fake name, as above) Thomas said you dared him to put a piece of equipment on your yard! I told that worker, that was a total lie! My yard is not pretty any way & I had zero problem with that. He told me JES does this because they charge more if the job is listed as hand dug. Right then, I just wanted them to leave. When I am tricked and lied to, I'm so done. I was also told by 'Thomas' there would be a crew of men at my home and trucks parked in my driveway. He made it sound so professional, proficient and would be done in no time. Well, NO! One truck showed up, 3 men. One of the young guys left after the 2nd day. (Which these guys were maybe at my house a grand total of 5-6 hours tops. Over a week may I add). I asked what happened to the really young guy and the other 2 said he had received a stimulus check & wouldn't be back until he was broke. OK, so why didn't JES get a replacement worker for him? The older man is the only one that did all the work anyway. There was always a reason as to why they had to leave, 10 minutes after getting to my home. One morning, it was not knowing if my house still had an active gas line. This was supposed to have been taken care of by JES, long before the work began. NOPE! I had to call the gas company & a gas company man came to my home to give me a letter that there is no active gas coming to my home. I had to give that to the workers the next time I seen them. Then another day it was my water line! They didn't want to harm a water line & they wanted me to call the *** SERIOUSLY! YES, seriously. I was charged for permits & this was never taken care of by the company. There was one day the older worker called the company and put me on the phone, which was needed. However, he whispered to me to tell the lady that they were doing a great job and everything was great. SOOOO, I did. Huge mistake! OH! I took vacation time to have this done and the time they scheduled for the job supremely surpassed *** they scheduled. I was told by the gas company worker that JES was 'screwing me over', as he has had foundation work done to his home. WHO KNEW I HAD 3 FEET OF CONCRETE FOUNDATION UNDER MY HOME! I really didn't need this proposed work. The JES workers even told myself and my boyfriend, that the company was horribly taking advantage of me. So, at this time, I was working night shift. I was told by the 2 workers that when they jacked my house up, I would not be able to sleep. I was told the machine is so loud, that they'd hear it all over town. The older worker said he wanted myself and my boyfriend to be present for the home being jacked up and that would be that last thing they did. I was instructed that one of us needed to be inside the home & one outside. He said when they started jacking the house up, he wanted us to yell back and forth if any movement was going on; if we heard pops, cracks or truly seen a wall shifting. (shouldn't this be JES worker's job?) Well, on that last day, my boyfriend had a dental appt and could not be here. I told the worker that and he rolled his eyes and walked away from me. I clearly could see he was mad. I asked the workers if they would use their jackhammer and bust up a big area of concrete. I payed them cash. Well, thinking the job was done, I gave them the money. When my Mom starts picking up the large chunks of concrete, they had hidden the other 1/2 of the concrete they did not bust up! (of course,I didn't think to look before they left, another lesson learned) Not long after that, the workers packed up their equipment and left! The house was never jacked up. 100% horrible experience all the way around. My house still pops, cracks, floor shakes when you walk in the same area & everything rolls to front of house, still yet. OH! I also told JES not to replace the concrete they were busting up to place 2 piers. Well, guess what they charge me - Yes, charged me for NOT replacing concrete-The bill just states: *** refund did not replace concrete. UHM, excuse me, but you did not replace the concrete, that should be a *** refund. JES will not itemize anything on your bill, at least not for me. Horrible company. My experience was miserable. I hope this saves someone from being lied to by them and taken. (or any foundation company) NEVER let a foundation company do work at your home without them actually looking at areas of your foundation and if they do not want to look at even the slightest internal structural damage, tell them to leave and not come back.

JES Foundation Repair What I have experienced and learned about JES Foundation repair the company and it's performance as a company specializing in foundation repair

What I have experienced and learned about JES Foundation repair the company and it's performance as a company specializing in foundation repair is something I needed to share. First, homeowner beware; JES Foundation repair is not a Contractor that does foundation repair. It is a clearing house for subcontractors in an area, in my case, the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where they hire or subcontract to others work that a member of their sales team proposes that needs to be done on your home.

As a retiree living on a fixed income, I wanted to address a problem of sloping floors to my small home. I took a long term view that I needed to correct this problem to prevent any future issues that could detract from the overall value of my home, should I or my child need to sell the home in the future if left to her after my death. When I purchased the home 10 years ago the home had aluminum skirting covering the crawl space which I hired a local concrete mason to replace by putting up a beautiful and finished back wall creating an entry door and installing vents that I could open and close to allow ventilation of the crawl space. The cost was ***

I contacted JES 5 years ago. JES sent their salesman out, (this year was the second time I decided to contact them after not finding someone local) who came out and gave me what appeared to be an escalated price of what I wanted to do, level the sloping floors which were affecting not only the first but starting to affect the second floor. Their first estimate from five years before was *** to lay concrete footers and use their foundation jacks to raise and level the structure of my home by 1-1.5 inches. But at that time I had no back wall. I later had the wall installed to provide a more attractive finish to the back of the house.

The new salesman went under the house and took photos of the detailed areas that needed lifting and support. Pictures were taken of improvised piers and shims erected to attempt to level the home by the previous owners. (the wall built by the concrete mason was not a part of that build attempt as lifting and leveling houses was not his specialty)

I reluctantly agreed to have the work done for *** with *** down. The contract called for tearing out the existing wall rebuilding and shimming to properly connect it to the main beam, lifting and putting the home at it's proper height and in spite of the potential for cracking of the ceramic tiles in my sloping floors. My hope and expectation was the minor cosmetic damage was worth staving off a long term problem of sloping floors. At the time the salesman indicated "after talking with his team" that the projected date for getting the work done due to a backlog would be around July or August . However, after my check cleared I got a call to get the work done in a week or two of it clearing. The work I was told would take about 3 days.

When the subcontractor and the crew came out, they were expecting to tear out a wall that did not need to be torn out ( the first clue). When that issue was correctly resolved the work began. Throughout the process from sales to construction, I received the full patronization treatment that they were going to do a good job, and take care of me and have a beautiful foundation wall house properly leveled and supported again.

To say the least I have never seen such poor quality work by comparison. The wall was poorly constructed. The workmanship of the crew was so substandard that I had the work stopped. I later called the concrete mason who put up the first wall to correct the damage they did. He looked at it and said it was poor quality work and in essence said "who were they that did that" "what type of people"? Noting the substandard work and professionalism. During the three days the sub-contractors worked I got a couple clues; one day when he arrived late and they were in the 3rd day I showed helpers what I needed corrected inside the home as the house, though raised and reportedly leveled bowed, raised in the middle and falling on the ends. The members of the crew went under the home to correct the bowing by raising corners, the ends, near the home's pillars. As they were working, the leader, owner of the subcontracted company came and I overheard him tell the crew to stop the work and do what he told them and when they expressed to him my request I overheard him say, "don't worry about him I can handle him". He came to me and told me that he was late because he had to stop and talk to a woman's lawyer from another job. (Another clue) At the end of the day when they left, I went out to examine their work. The vents, placed up high in the original wall but in the wall they built were in the wrong place low on the ground and once the stones and earth originally at the base of the wall was moved back would be covered, they had gotten concrete inside the vents to prevent their closing, the piers to secure the main beam under the house was absent as per the contract and as I looked around my yard, I saw blobs of concrete, soda cans and debris. What kind of professionalism is this? Was my thought.

I contacted JES and told them that I did not want any work going forward and that I would be seeking a refund. In an effort to minimize loss and protect their reputation their production manager offered the options and efforts to examine and repair the shoddy work, which I sent pictures to them of, and let them know I have no interest in or want to deal with the company any more.

I plan to send them a simple letter requesting a refund and more than likely simultaneously file a civil action to work to recover my down payment to cover the costs for correcting the poor quality of work done by the subcontractor and failure to correct the simple problem I identified and signed a contract to correct in my home.

Essentially, JES charged me for what was already done and had I left the original wall standing, I would have the same sloping floors and have kept my *** deposit. To me, the sales process of what appeared to be excessive charges, patronizing and securing work that they do not do and essentially cannot guarantee is part of the overall experience I have had with JES Foundation services.

JES Foundation Repair Concrete Floating

I talked to Carlos about the situation and he said he would get back to me .

It's been 2 weeks and I haven;t heard from JES.

Your "technician " showed up late and complaining about his helper drank to much and couldn't get out of bed. All the time he was talking to other people, coworkers and such on his phone . Meanwhile he misjudged and incorrectly repaired my concrete. Then he tried to explain how he should have had his helper to fix the repair correctly.

Carlos has NOT replied to my call and whom do I complain to about Carlos

and the hillbilly you sent out her to repair my pad.

Desired outcome: Fix your repair correctly.

No work has been completed and no one has contacted me to schedule work in over 30 days yet I have been billed the full contract amount. I was told a production manager was going to visit me but that never happened. I received a notice from credit card company I had been billed as if the job was completed but zero work has been started or completed. I dont believe they have any intention of completing my job.

JES Foundation Repair I contracted JES to complete an encapsulation of my crawlspace

I contracted JES to complete an encapsulation of my crawlspace. After two months they have not addressed lingering issues, and will return my contact They did the work in December, but issues remain such as poor craftsmanship that impact the effectiveness of their work. I have called multiple times only to be told that a manager will be in touch with me, but a week can go by without any word from the company. I paid thousands of dollars to get this work done, and it should be done correctly.

We called out JES to resolve a water problem in our crawlspace/basement in *** The problem has not been resolved; water continues to leak just as before, this after attempts by JES to correct it. Today, after the most recent flood in the basement, I was told by JES that everything was working as intended (!) and that they could quote me on some additional work that "may" resolve the problem that they have so far not been able to correct. Note that because of the leaking mold has settled in areas of my drywall. Basically, I have wasted my money with JES and now have a mold issue. Please note that I have also filed a complaint with the State of *** office and am considering additional action.

JES Foundation Repair When we originally did the estimate for repairs we signed for a bigger space than what we ended up getting done

When we originally did the estimate for repairs we signed for a bigger space than what we ended up getting done. In November , we had back gutters put on our house by a contractor through JES Foundation. When the gutter company came out the measurements for the house were wrong and inaccurate. What we wanted done was inaccurate also. We worked with JES with this to still get the gutters done. We never saw an estimate of how much everything would cost broken down. When it was time to pay because we signed a contract for the work of having our front walkway, gutters, garage and driveway polyed we ended up paying for half the cost of the original contract. When I tried to dispute this I was told I signed a contract. I feel like I over paid for work and would like a refund.

I make short as possible, I had called JES and spoke with one of their representatives, he then asked to forward him an e-mail ( that he gave us ) requesting that we want to cancel the contract I received a reply e-mail from the same individual stating that he has no record of individual working at JES but 10mins later I get a call from salesman ( how ironic is that not only did it happen once it happened twice with same individual and salesman calling me back stating he got a call from his admin people that I wanted to cancel contract 2nd red flag ) so the salesman shows up to give me a second proposal and when it was e-mailed to me the proposal had less work to be done and the price had gone up. I canceled the contract within the prescribed time allowed by law. I also requested that my account be credited *** which was the amount of the deposit. Thank you

JES Foundation Repair I had JES do leveling of my concrete sidewalk leading up to the main entrance of my home

I had JES do leveling of my concrete sidewalk leading up to the main entrance of my home. The sales guy assured me it would come out level and be an appropriate step in to the front door (according to code this is 7 3/4 inches). The guy actually doing the work did it, and then after I complained that it was neither level at the front door nor was it an appropriate step (it's at least 8.75 inches), he told me it was not possible to do that without significant risk to the sidewalk not coming out level in the remaining portion, which may cause the only solution to be grinding it down, which he said would look ugly for years. That information certainly would've been good to know prior to paying them and having them do it! The whole purpose of me doing this project has not been achieved and I'm out a lot of money after just buying my first house (so I'm already not flush with cash). This was false advertising/sales.

JES Foundation Repair The subpar crawlspace repair work by JES Foundation Repair lacks safety and quality checks

The crawlspace repair work performed by JES Foundation Repair is unsatisfactory and the project was not inspected for safety and quality. JES Foundation Repair started my crawlspace repair project late on December 21, and failed to obtain a residential project inspection by Arlington VA County upon completion. An employee driving the company truck damaged my front yard fence, causing issues with the chain links and a bent pole. JES did not replace the old, moldy crawlspace door with the promised new black door measuring 16 inches by 32 inches. They also neglected to conduct a project completion walk-through or a quality assurance inspection. I am unsure if the promised products and services, such as insulation removal, liner installation, drainage matting, insulation board, a dehumidifier with a duct kit, an electrical outlet, and vent sealing, were provided. Furthermore, JES subcontracted the electrical box work, during which the contractor damaged my drywall and left cables and wires exposed, causing additional damage to my living room wall. Neither JES nor the subcontractor has taken responsibility for the damage or committed to restoring my living room wall to its original condition.

JES Foundation Repair JES Foundation sold an expensive system to waterproof my basement; the basement is now having water issues a year later and they are denying

JES Foundation sold an expensive system to waterproof my basement; the basement is now having water issues a year later and they are denying fault. In May JES Foundation sent out a salesman to inspect a small room in my full basement (1000 sqft) that was showing wood floors cupping. He assured me the issue was water getting into the foundation, and that they needed to install a full drainage system, sump pump, freeze protection barrier, and extend the work not only from the one room in question, but fully throughout the basement. I paid *** for this system to be put in place. A year later, the same small room in the basement is having the same cupping issues, noteably the floor appears to be "bubbling up" right next to where the sump pump was installed. In no other area of the basement, where the wood floor was also pulled up and new wood laid down is having an issue. JES has denied any liability and said that the issue is not with their system, but have instead tried to blame the contractor they worked with to put the wood floors down. JES states the wood floor should have been laid down differently, DESPITE the only place the wood floor is having issues is specifically in the room they were brought into "waterproof" and around where their sump pump is installed. Again, a large area over multiple rooms had the wood floor pulled up and put down again, but the only area that is now damaged is the room JES did the majority of their "waterproofing" work and installed the sump pump. JES is now using "blame game" tactics to avoid accepting responsibility for a failed system. They have become increasingly less responsive to calls, and have used discouragement tactics when I have mentioned hiring an independent inspector and legal counselor.

JES Foundation Repair A complete lack of customer service, and substandard workmanship involving the leveling of my sidewalk

A complete lack of customer service, and substandard workmanship involving the leveling of my sidewalk. I received an estimate from a JES salesman to level my front sidewalk, April . When I accepted the work, I was required to pay the salesman a *** deposit toward the *** total for the job. The work was performed on 05/15. The following Monday (18th), a representative contacted me requesting final payment, which I satisfied. Within a few days of May 18th, I noticed a dark substance that had been sprayed on the front of my house near the sidewalk. Specifically, the vinyl siding below the front windows, the front window frames and seals, the corner molding piece of the house, and the garage door and frame closest to the sidewalk. I left a voicemail and texted the salesman without a response. I emailed the JES customer service address including pictures, and did not get a response. Then I called the customer service number and spoke to one of the ladies. She took down my information and promised it would be relayed to a manager/supervisor. After about a week, *** contacted me and said he was a supervisor. I explained the overspray on the house, and he said he would take a look personally. I took pictures as well, and sent them via text. He arrived at my house and was visibly and verbally upset by the overspray, indicating he trained the guy who did it. He openly criticized the substandard work, and agreed to attempt to fix it himself. *** spent several hours attempting to remove the overspray. He was able to remove most of it from the vinyl siding, window seals/frames, corner molder, and garage door frame, but could not on the garage door itself. There are still remnants of spray if you look close enough. We agreed his company would try to paint the spots on the garage door, power wash the sidewalk, and caulk the expansion joints. They performed the work, and had to re-caulk the expansion joints twice due no fault of their own. The garage door still has not been fixed after five months. I have attempted to communicate with *** and the manager multiple times. Their lack of communication and customer service is extremely unprofessional.

JES Foundation Repair I believe that my situation is a BREACH OF CONTRACT, since no one has been in contact with me or done any work at my house since August 10

I believe that my situation is a BREACH OF CONTRACT, since no one has been in contact with me or done any work at my house since August 10, which is over three weeks. According to my *** your contract with me is actually a contract for services. A contract for service requires the services to be rendered. I believe that not enough work has been done to even come close to "partial performance". My contract will buy me a new foundation and 26' by 24' new slab. I have received nothing except a few holes, that are not even deep enough for a new foundation. You must provide me with an itemized accounting of any billable expenditures for review prior to me agreeing to pay you any amount. I note that there is a mediation clause in the contract. This would involve a mediator to be involved at the shared expense of each party. This mediator would be local to me. This mediator does not require certification unless referred by a *** If this would be desired, a suit would be filed in *** County *** and each of us would request that a mediator be appointed by the *** I also note that there is a venue clause stating that if I sue you, it has to be in Virginia Beach County *** This contingent on both parties consenting to jurisdiction in Virginia Beach. This does not prohibit me from filing in my home county in West Virginia. Enclosed is a letter I sent via email in June summarizing my project. I am a Navy Veteran, with an Ocean Engineering degree, and spent my 30-year career in nuclear submarines. I am used to contracts and can read engineering blueprints. Mr. James *** PE, Director of at the *** signed the Engineering Report for a Building Permit at my residence on *** Road on April 15. Page 3 of that report are the Structural Notes. Note #6 specifies that the foundations and footings are designed for 1,500 PSF allowable soil bearing. Footings shall bear at, or below, frost depth of 2'6" below exterior grade, on suitable bearing soils. The issue is that JES was going to rely on the estimate of a JES sub-contractor, using just his experience and a piece of rebar, that the soil had been excavated suitably deep enough to lay a foundation footing. The JES supervisor on site rejected that estimate after I told him that the estimate of soil strength was not in accordance with the Structural Notes. Subsequently, a Mr. Dustin *** measured the soil strength with instrument, and concluded that the soil at that depth did not meet specifications. JES *** had the sub-contractor diggers and the soil engineer back at the site in July, dug some more, and the soil was still deemed to be too weak. The last JES *** sponsored soil test was on August 10, with insufficient soil strength found at the depths probed. "

JES Foundation Repair JES waterproofed our basement

JES waterproofed our basement. Leaked the last 2 rains. Been out twice but cannot get it corrected. Told something different every time.Want refund. JES "waterproofed" half of our basrment. Salesman told me we would never have to worry about water coming into the basement again. Workers arrived and said they could not do the job as the fasteners would not hold the wall covering in place because of crumbling in some areas. Worker told my wife that he shouldn't tell her, but it is written on his work order "I don't know how you are going to do this" (In reference to doing the job.) He also said that he wouldn't have it done because part of the wall was crumbling and what we contracted to do would not last or possibly not even work. We called the office. They sent a superintendent to look at it. He said the only problem was that the workers were not using long enough fasteners. He said he could promise that our wall would last at least another 30 years and there was no reason to fear that the wall would crumble. The covering they placed on the walls is puckering and not adhered properly. Our basement leaked the very first heavy rain we had, even in places it never leaked before. Worker came out and "fixed" the problem. Second heavy rain and the basement is leaking just like it was before we had the work done. My husband told the second person that came out that we planned on refinishing the other side of the basement. (When the basement leaks, the water flows to the other side) He told my husband that he wouldn't do that. He suggested that we clean the cement flooring (it used to be carpeted but had to be torn up from the water leaking from the other side), paint it and use rugs instead as he could not guarantee that the basement would not leak again. We are told something different by each person we speak to. We paid over *** to have a basement "waterproofed " that obviously is not waterproofed at all. We asked that our money be refunded, in full. He did not respond. We are extremely upset over this. In the last 6 months we replaced 16 windows, replaced our roof, installed vinyl fencing in our back yard, added a screened in side porch and landscaped. Not once did we have an issue with any of the other contractor's work. JES should be ashamed of themselves. To add insult to I jury, after the first workers left our home, we found plastic water bottles filled with urine left on the basement floor. HOW DISGUSTING, UNSANITARY AND DANGEROUS! One other thing, the supertindent said that he wished their vehicle logos and advertisement did not use the word "waterproofing" as no basement could be completely waterproofed and he wished the salesperson had not used that term with us. This is at best unethical, shady business practices and JES should be held accountable for their actions and provide us with a full refund, immediately!

JES Foundation Repair Hired JES to fix the moisture problems we were having in basement

Hired JES to fix the moisture problems we were having in basement. They never tied in the new system with the old and now we have in the home. On 6/4 sales rep *** came to our home to give us a quote and description of the work that needed to be done because we was seeing moisture in the corner of our laundry room in the basement. *** showed us all the floors under the carpet in the basement. The left side of the house had no moisture so we agreed to fix the right side. He stated the pipes under the house were clogged on the right side and that's why we were seeing the moisture. He also stated the sump pump worked good and that we did not need to replace it. On 7/2 JES started the work on our home. They took a lot of our things and placed them outside uncovered and did not complete the job. They left without installing 2 mini channels and the yardwell was placed where we did not agree. I spoke to *** and *** about how unhappy I was with the service. I told them I did not want the same guys they sent before back at my home. *** said he would be in touch the next day. I waited 2 days called *** and he said someone would be there in 2 days. The same guys showed up and put 1 min channel in front of door and moved the yardwell further out. 8/2 we had a lot of rain and the sump pump came on and water splatted all over the walls and floor. We then found water on our bedroom floor which is on the left side of the basement. We called JES they came out inspected the sump pump and said the piping was not correct and fixed it. On 8/17 I stepped out my bed and the entire floor was fill with water. I called JES and they came out and as they were inspecting the house i could see that the new work they did never connected to the old system. Where they did the new plumbing the water is running into a hole that is leading into our bedroom. With all the rain we had I only heard that sump pump work once. JES came out on a 8/18 and said they would have to work on more money for us to pay because we did not have the entire house done. We are already in debt *** for the work they screwed up and now they want us to pay to have them do the entire house. I never stepped in water on basement floors. We have been in this house for 3 years. They only reason I called them was to find out why we had moisture on the walls. The job number XXXXX is still not completed because they never placed the mini channel by the water heater but I am paying for it. I called and 8/20 and asked if someone could come out and at least stop the water from coming into my bedroom until they come up with a solution. I want my home back to normal. I can not sleep in my room, we lost a tv because of the water and now we have to move out furniture out of the room and hopefully that is not ruined. I never stepped in water in my basement until JES came in my home. We have been patient with this company for too long.
