JPMorgan Chase illegal credit card practices

Just another example that the banking industry is full of crooks. While my tax dollars were used to loan Chase Manhattan money, Chase operates without scruples to rip off its customers at every turn.

Here is what happened:

I paid off my Chase credit card balance in full, or so I thought. There was actually a leftover balance of $8, due to rolling finance charges. I was late paying the $8 dollars by two months because I was unaware of their being any leftover balance on the card. Does Chase do the normal course of business which is to charge a late fee? No, they cancel my card and effect my credit rating over $8.00. Its important to note, that I was always on time with my payments in the past. When I got the letter my account was closed, Chase was unrelenting in it being a done deal. I called, wrote letters, and they just don't care. I'm doing a full court press writing Obama, my congressman, and any posting at any blog I can. All there advertising and PR is BS...they are willing to screw over any consumer if it saves them a buck, or in this case $8.00. Feel free to email me at aaronroyerolpc.com if you have similar experiences.

I appreciate this site for giving consumers a voice.

Thanks for listening!

I just got screwed by Chase but the closed all 3 of my credit card accounts. Not because I was late. 1 card didn't even have a balance. One only had a couple hundred dollars on it. But I called and activated my credit card protection plan on just 1 of the cards. The credit card protection plan I have been paying a fortune for for years.

Why do I have so many Chase credit cards? Not by choice. They keep gobbling up at smaller credit card companies so suddenly I have a wallet full of Chase.

Here is a plan. Everyone, cancel everything you have by Chase; credit cards, checking accounts, savings accounts, loans, etc. Take your business and your support to your small home town bank. Let Chase choke on all their debt. How would that be for poetic justice?

JPMorgan Chase kelly henick

I have never heard of a bank charging after you pay your balance. If the balance is X amount of dollars and you payoff that X amount of dollars seems logical that the balance would be zero dollars owed. But not to Chase or Kelly Henick they find that you still get more charges. Then tell you that you owed more then what was showing as a balance. Try to contact Kelly Henick and you have to join some online thing so he must like to hide from his customers since we are lining his pocket. Worst BANK, Worst Customer Service, Worst Rates so they top the list of worsts in all catigories.

I totally agree. Chase is the worst bank out there. They could care less about their customers. All they care about is making money. I’m so glad I have other cards. If anyone asks about Chase, I will say it is the worst bank and to never deal with them. It’s amazing that I paid my balance in full, online, and the following month I was assessed a 2 day finance charge. When I called to discuss the situation, I explained that I received the bill on 8/12 and paid it on 8/12. The answer I received from the supervisor James Zanoria (female) was my statement closed on the 10th and I should have paid it on the tenth and if I couldn't pay it by the 10th, I should pay extra to cover any finance charges. When I asked how am I suppose to pay it by the 10th if the statement isn't received until the 12th and how much is "extra". She could answer that, but instead kept reading from a script. She reiterated that I should have paid extra on the payment. I told her she acts like money is free flowing and where did she think the "extra" could come from...my butt. Ok, so that wasn't too professional, but after listening to her talk down to me and being so unwilling to reverse $8.38, I was at my limit. I asked who I should speak to and she referred me to the imaginary person named Mr. Kelly Hanick. Oh yes, Mr. Hanick, who you can't contact, who takes 3+ weeks to respond. Does he exist or just a figment of Chase’s imagination?

JPMorgan Chase terrible customer service

Chase is the WORST bank ever. Not only do the employees offer the lowest level of customer service I have ever dealt with but the manager was even worse. It is clear that this BIG BANK could care less who they have employed with them. It is clear that no body values/enjoys their jobs. I even overheard 2 tellers complaining about how they wish it were still WaMu!?!? I told the manager I would be closing me accounts and I was told "sure, take your $16, 000"...apparently you have to have buckets of money to get any respect. Well, I hope that more and more people start to see this bank for who they really are and start taking their "small" accounts elsewhere. My $16, 000 may not amount to something but I hope 100 more people take their $16, 000 out as well. One account may be meaningless but I hope more and more people start closing their accounts as well. Power in numbers.

Why anyone would want to deal with this company is beyond me. When it comes to my finances I need to deal with a bank that respects me and my accounts...regardless of how much money is in there.

We've been account holders with Wamu for over 20 years (before they were Wamu). after the Chase took over I've had 3 serious problems with Chase:

-Terrible customer service; they act as if they were doing you a favor.

- Written communication concerning new fees and procedures are non-existent. When you go to the bank, you find out about the new policy!

-As a customer, they do not back up your money if a merchant makes a mistake on your ATM card.

I will be moving all my accounts to another bank I recommend the same!

I noticed today that Chase only made it to #9 as one of the most hated companies in the US. I would have bet they would be in the top three. They must be very proud of themselves for all the good they do...epecially for the way they help our military families. Kind of brings a tear to your eye doesn't it? I understand they're also very proficient in letting your deposit sit so they can charge your account for insufficient funds. If you were thinking about financing, especially a mortgage, with them... don't. You can't imagine how underhanded they can be until you go that route. I could make this a running commentary. Hmmm, sounds like a good idea. More tomorrow! We'll include some of their players to avoid at all costs.

Chase has got to look over their branches more often... A few days ago, my mother-in-law went to the bank to deposit $8, 100 in cash and accidentally thought she was holding $7, 000 as she normally deposits about $4, 000 a week and she got all confused with her numbers. The teller took the money and instead of counting the cash in front of her, took it back into some room to get it counted and took more than 30 minutes to get it counted than told my mother in law that the amount came to $7, 006. In fact the teller counted the money twice(well the teller claims she counted the money twice in the back of the room) and each time the amount changed. After my mother in law left the bank, the teller personally called back after office hours and said there was a mistake again and said it came to $7, 176. My mother in law thought there was something wrong and remembered after checking her slip where she kept track of the cash amounts in bundles that she wrote the total amount $1, 000 short on the deposit slip. The teller in fact also would have been incorrect with the total amount. So the next morning as soon as the office opened at the bank, she went in and asked to have a look at the security camera to see exactly what happened back in the room as she couldn't sleep at all wondering whether the teller snitched her money. However, the bank refused to show her the tapes and in fact said that even if they dropped a $5 bill in the room while counting they would not show them the tapes. My husband who was with my mother-in-law, got mad as the manager was treating her as if she was a foul creature and demanded to view the tape or else he would take all his accounts and his mothers accounts to another bank but the manager scoffed and told him to do so. What is wrong with this bank? They should have counted the money in front of my mother-in-law in the first place. How in the world are we supposed to trust this branch when they won't count the money in front of us? If they refuse to count it in front of us, they should at least show us the security camera when the counting procedure is in doubt, should they not? For all we know, the teller snitched a handful of the cash and the manager is trying to cover up the incident to save their necks.

Every Credit Card that I have ever had open in THE past 15 years Was taken over by the ### at Chase and/or Chase Home Finance, L.L.C. What a joke this group is as a Business. They have taken over GOOD HONEST CARING COMPANIES without any of US HAVING THE RIGHT TO SAY WE DO NOT WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH CHASE. I AM GOING TO START UP A CLASS ACTION LAW SUITE AGAINST THESE IGNORANT DISRESPECTFUL LYING BACK STABBERS. I FILED CHAPTER 7 BANKRUPTCY AND LISTED ALL OPEN CREDIT ACCOUNTS ON THIS AS I HAD SUFFERED 5 SEVERE ILLNESS'S IN 2008 INCLUDING CANCER. I HAD CONTACTED TRANS UNION CREDIT REPORTERS ABOUT AN ADVERSE ITEM PLACED By 'CHASE'' ON MY DISCHARGED BANKRUPTCY AFTER IT WAS CLOSED. THEY ARE SO CARELESS THEY PUT MY WASHINGTON MUTUAL/CHASE CARD ON THERE AS A COLLECTION ITEM WHICH IS A TOTAL LIE. THE ITEM WAS FULLY DISCHARGED BUT LISTED ON MY CREDIT REPORT WITH THE WRONG COMPANY NAME (BANK ONE) AND I SENT PROOF TO THE CREDIT AGENCY THAT THE BANK ONE WAS PAID OFF AS AGREED YEARS AGO. CHASE HAS VIOLATED SECTION 727 OF TITLE 11 AND TRIED TO MAKE MY CREDIT WORSE WITH A LIE. Even since they moved everything to chase.com, I've been having problems logging on to my online bank account. I called chase a couple of times, each time I ended up waiting on the phone for MORE than 30 minutes before I lost my patience and hung up. I emailed them and whoever responded must be a single-cell organism.

My sister and I both have chase credit cards. For some reasons, chase was stupid enough to put our accounts together even though we live in different STATES (although our first names are similar). They put two credit cards together under my name but my sister's SSN. So, basically I can't even solve this problem myself even though IT IS OBVIOUSLY THEIR FAULT! Our accounts were fine for a while until don't know how and why, they suddenly merged our accounts together...?!?! WTF

I am so done with Chase. I am switching to another bank for both checking account and credit card.

Chase is terrible, not just in consumer banking; but also their mortgage/loss mitigation side. They are staffed with incompetent ###s who only know how to read from a script. The problem is that when you pose a question that is outside of their realm of understanding (not hard to do); they repeat themselves over and over again. I have had a modification request under review since March! Seriously March! Every time I call in I am told that it will be one more week. No wonder why this country's foreclosure rate is through the roof! They were quick to approve all of these home loans and beef up their pockets. Now that the economy is in the tank and job losses are high, they are hiding instead of addressing the problem. What they don't realize is that people will always remember how they were treated in times of hardship. This will not be forgotten

JPMorgan Chase no title, no registration

Back in October 07, I purchased a car from private seller who had two names on the title with an "and/or". Chase closed the loan after asking their legal department if only one signature on the title was fine. They accepted and closed the loan. After three months of no registration I called and they told me that they needed the second signature. Well, him and his wife lived in another country now, so it would be a little hard trying to get ahold of them. After a year and a half and after running out of temporary registrations, I couldn't drive my car that I was paying for each month because I had no registration. Not to mention I had put down a lump sum of my own cash to purchase this car. We attempted to go ahead with a Bonded title application but that seemed to also be unsuccessful. So for nearly two years, I did whatever Chase asked me to do, and got rude responses from it..."Well you should've bought from a different seller" "Well I guess you can't drive your car" BS! I dealt with rude representatives and no help whatsoever! I decided to stop making payments until they decided to really go after getting the title situation handle and now all they're doing is being a bigger headache. Threatening me to take me to jail! What a joke these people are!

My story is a little different, Chase has stayed on my credit with a $41k vehicle, stateing a joint contractual account paying on or as agreed. I have never financed a vehicle through them, I have repeatedly ask them to come off of my credit, to no avail. On the credit report they have left off the make and model and or VIN #. I have wrote Chase requesting copies of signatures, photo IDs, and copies of insurance companies, any paper work pertaining to this vehicle, again to no avail. Chase's practice seem to be of a frudlent nature, by not producing proper regestration and or paper work, on the vehicles that are finaced thru them. What to do?

JPMorgan Chase customer service / varification info.

I'm furious, I started simply trying to check my bank iaccount postings and ended up being told I changed my pin, which was incorrect, and I had ridiculous questions to answer that I was told was public record. How the hell can you varify who a person is by public record with information that is over 15 years old. These idiots wnat me to remmber information about my ex-inlaws whom I have been divorced from for over 10 years. They even mentioned ex-inlaws I dont even know and wanted me to tell them where they owned property. This has me so upset I never had these problems with wa mu. , and any varification information should have been what I set up with wa mu when opening my account. How can youu chase decide what information would valadate who I am. That lets me know that anyone can manipulate my account with not to much effort. I'm so ppissed off.

JPMorgan Chase chase screws their customers and horrible customer service

Today I got my bill from Chase and noticed the APR increased from 9.24% to 16.24%. I have never defaulted, I always pay more than the minimum, and I have not made a purchase (besides a tank of gas) in over a year. I called to find out why and the rep said Chase sent a letter in May (which I never got) saying that all APR will increase and the only way to retain your current APR is to opt out - BY CANCELING YOUR ACCOUNT! I worked for a competitor, so I understand credit and if I close that line of credit then my credit score will not be as strong as it is now, so I was pissed. I told him I wanted to complain to a supervisor. I was calm and collected but she (supervisor named Paula) was rude the entire time and interrupted EVERY time I spoke. After 10 minutes of this I told her not to interrupt me, which she continued to do. I had to tell her another time or two before (and mind you I'm still being calm) before eventually I had enough and told her to shut up. I told her I am the customer and it's VERY rude to interrupt, especially when it's the customer. There was no response, then a machine came on saying I was abusive to their staff and to never call again. Seriously, it said "please do not ever call or write to us again".

So I called right back. I asked for a supervisor again and explained why. Then I told that supervisor about what happened and told her that Paula and the rep before her had told me there is an address for the executive office where I can ask to lower my APR and I wanted that address. This supervisor would not give it to me for a few minutes and just kept fighting me on it saying things like "they won't do it and I'm not going to let you waste your time". Eventually she stopped mid-sentence and said she'd get it for me, almost as though someone was over her shoulder telling her to give it to me. Her name was Mary. I just couldn't believe how rude they were, especially when I pointed out that I have been a long, loyal customer and they make a good profit from me, yet I am the one being punished "so the bank can be more profitable" (yeah, two people really said that). Chase are a bunch of fascist nazi pigs and I'll never do any business with them and I am making sure to spread the word. ### Chase bank.

They reduced 2 limits and closed a chase card of a bankrupt closed business CircuitCity. 3 letters all sent on the same day. The same day i politely requested a simple interest rate consideration is the day these three notices were issued. Was this a coincidence or dirty tactics? Chase Bank is the most vicious bank i know of an i have alot of credit card experience. I would not recommend anyone do business with this company.

I was a loyal cutomer with chase credit card for about five years until tonight. About a month ago I recieved my bill in the mail and sent a payment in which always way over the mininum payment. I kept checking my bank account to see when when it went through and about after ten days of not seeing it I called the company and asked why they havent deducted it. Their response is that they havent received it yet. so I told the customer service agent that I would cancel the check and go ahead and pay for it over the phone, which I did. Well, last week I got a letter that stated they received my check but couldnt process it because it was cancelled. I called again and they reassured me that everything was in order and not to worry.

I have had a promotional billing rate for two years and I have closely monitored the date when my promotional period ends, with the intention to pay the full balance before the promotional no-interest term expires. The expiration date for the promotional period has been 9/29/08 for nearly two years. However, just as the promotional rate is ending, this month the promotional date expiration on my Chase billing statement has suddenly changed to 10/8/08. However, I have nothing to cause this change to my account.

Today I contacted Chase's customer service line to request assistance in clarifying this discrepancy. The first representative recognized that it was a mistake but could not explain the discrepancy. He simply suggested that I pay by 9/29/08, despite recognizing that my statement inaccurately reflects the promotional date ending on 10/8/08.

When I asked to speak with a supervisor, after a long hold, a woman who would only identify herself as "Anna in the Texas location" recognized that Chase made a mistake on my statement, but she still could not explain why the error occurred. I found my conversation with her frustrating because it took quite a while for her to grasp my concern, while instead she launched into an explanation of my promotional interest rate percentage, and even mistakenly said that my promotional rate ended in June, 2017. She did not strike me as wonderfully competent, and inspired no confidence in her abilities. When I asked to speak with her superior, he said that a "Ms. Booth in Texas" would contact me within 72 business hours, but that Ms. Booth would not take my call.

I felt is was important to follow up with Chase because, as an attorney, I find it negligent that Chase is sending out statements with inaccurate promotional expiration dates. For many consumers this could mean the difference in several hundred (or in my case, over $1000) in undue charges that would be added to accounts based upon a mistake on Chase's part. If I had followed the promotional expiration date indicated on my current statement (rather than the accurate expiration date indicated on previous statements), then I would have been charged significantly more that I owed to Chase for paying off my balance too late.

Stated otherwise, the difference between my accurate promotional expiration date of 9/29/08 and the inaccurate expiration date reflected on my current Chase statement of 10/8/08 could have cost me over $1000 in undue interest fees. Indeed, this assessment of undue fees may be happening to many others of Chase's customers.

I wrote to Chase's Chief Legal Officer, CEO and head of HR to explain the situation and offer evidence to support my claims. If I don't receive a response, I may well refer this to the FTC. The moral of this story is to closely monitor your statements from Chase because if they make mistakes on your bill, this onus is on YOU to prove their error. And if you don't catch their mistake, you could pay hundreds in unnecessary interest fees. Beware!

I am trying to find the name a high level manager for chase customer support. I talked to a rep in feb and setup direct debit payments for my card at an agreed upon amount. Now - 2 months later I am getting harrassing calls from their customer support saying that is not enough money and the person should not have set it up. I asked to speak to a supervisor and that person was even more nasty.
I need a real high level person. Anyone have any name?

You are wasting your breath talking to these ppl. Everything they have told me was a lie, they do not do anything they say they will. I think they're trying to cause us to default so they can get more of our tax money. These are the worst crooks I have ever encountered! We as a country are being treated so bad, nobody is on our side. If they had used the TARP money to give each family under a certain income limit $20, 000 per family then there would be no recession, plus the economy would improve because people would be buying & or paying their bills! I hate you Chase & hope you take me to court, I have all my paperwork & I have paid you enough thru the years to not owe anything. So keep adding on those late dues, I don't CARE! I paid you more than the minimum, never late & you treat me this way? Hell NO, I won't forget & neither will the rest of us, I hope you go so under, everyone of you loses your jobs that's works for Chase, that is lying to us, so you get the same treatment you're giving us! Go to HELL!

Got my last bill and saw a significant increase in my monthly payment amount. Upon looking even closer, saw that my interest rate had gone up 12% points. Called to find out why. Was told I had defaulted. I had made my payments and said so. Was told I had made August's payment late. Checked my online records and saw that I had made that payment, online, 5 days before it was due. Called Chase again and stated that I had not made a late payment in August. Was told the late payment was in July. Checked my online records again and saw that I had made the payemt 4 days, online, 4 days before it was due.
Called Chase and canceled the card. Tired of dicking around with those bozo's.

It seems almost all credit card providers are a bunch of worthless, spineless money-grubbers. Not even worth it to associate with them, I got ripped off by a company myself I was naive and desperate to get a card to build my score but they took me to the cleaners with fees for no reasons (upkeep fees, payment fees, then a late fee caused a over-limit fee caused a % increase caused a hike in minimum due and it snowballed into a nightmare).

I found out that the company is a scam they only offer credit cards to young people or people with ruined credit and only with a 200 to 1000 dollar limit, an attempt to make sure the person goes over (not to mention an opening account fee of 80 bucks).

JPMorgan Chase apr increase - unethical

I recieved a letter from chase informing me that my apr will increase to 21%. I had 2 choices, accept the raised apr and my account will remain open, or decline the raise and my account would be closed. I accepted the raised apr (To continue to build my credit) and low and behold, one month after raising my apr, they closed my account anyway! Their excuse was"keeping up with banking standards", what a bunch of bs! They even refused to lower my apr to its original amount and said I was stuck with it, and to "have a nice day". Can you believe this attitude? I have aslo reported this to the bbb.

I called and complained to no avail. This is unethical and criminal in my opinion!

They did the same to me. Just keep calling and asking for them to change. Also, call your Senator/Congressman to complain because Chase says its changes in Federal Law that allows them to do it. If enough people make a big enough fuss, they may change their policies.

Chase Bank levied $80.00 fees on my personal checking account in an unusual way and unexplainable manner. I requested a refund of said fees and was given the "run around" and eventually refused. My checking account has been open with Chase since 2007. 4 months ago Chase charged me $20 per month in maintenance charges, fees totaling $80.00. The fees came...

JPMorgan Chase harassment

Since October 2006, Chase Home Finance has taken 48 extra payments by cashing checks multiple times (one NINE times). Meanwhile, they are harassing me for late payments and have damaged my credit rating severely. They have sent three letters stating that they corrected my credit rating, but that has not happened. I have contacted them EVERY MONTH since January 2007, when they held a payment until they could collect a late charge, then cashed it. I have written and mailed a payment each and every month. In the last three months they have returned eight ORIGINAL checks with letters stating that they are copies, and as such they can not be cashed. My ban (not Chase) has provided me with copies of 48 CASHED checks and there are some additional where they have done the ACH AND THE CHECK. I have also proveded copies of the bank statements requested. I have asked Chase for an annotated (with check numbers) payment history so I can determine WHICH CHECKS they have not given me credit for. In return they ask me for bank statements WITH THE RETURNED ITEMS LISTED...there are no returned items, as I took out a line of credit to finance the "Chase mess". That line of credit has subsequently been terminated for my bad credit rating caused by Chase (false reporting of foreclosure). I have also gotten letters from my bank (not Chase) stating that the attached statements (reconstructed) are accurate and that the checks are bank copies. That banker also raised a concern about the length of time Chas holds item before cashing (up to six months!).

On the credit card side, Chase started in March 2008 to double, triple and quadruple charge me for gas charges. I put in complaints. I was comparing my gas charges with October 2007 and, with the same usage my gas charges were SIX TIMES AS MUCH...not the rate of the price increases at the pumps! I was finally referred to the Fraud Unit, where I was told that they had discovered a second credit card had been created for my account, so they FORCED CLOSED the account and started a new one with a new number. Additionally, the fraud unti DEMANDED that I go online and enter as an online user, bring all my Chase accounts together. I then noticed that the problem spread to the other THREE creits cards and Chase would no longer take ANY CHECKS as payment on my accounts, including the mortgage. I continued to pay my bills, resulting in large credit balances, to avoid the late charges and interest threatened while they investigated. Last week I recieved a letter stating tha tthey were now going to charge my NEW account, which I haven't activated, but it has been used, WITH ALL THE CHARGES THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY DETERMINED TO BE UNAUTHORIZED AND DUPLICATE BECAUSE THEY HAD CONCLUDED THEIR INVESTIGATION!

I have lost $48, 242.52 to Chase Mortgage and $6210.37 to Chase Credit, while they continue to harass me for "non-payment".

I have been trying very hard to bring down the balances on my credit cards and had done very well with reducing the balance on my Chase card in particular, which was a Washington Mutual card to begin with. In fact, I had gotten the balance down to 1/3d of what I owed and felt great about this. Finally, my debt to credit limit ratio was looking fantastic. So...

JPMorgan Chase closing accounts being paid in good standing

I have two cards issued by wamu / now chase I want everyone to know that my cards are being paid ontime
When they took over they raised my interest to 24.24%
I have paid ontime. They just closed my cards off.
They blamed it on the trw / experian for the closing said they had nothing to do with it.
I have paid all of my cards each month never missed
My husband has one card the limits is now low. Also one card I had was 10% these cards were not being used as they were transfers to pay off other cards
They claim they went by other balances I have and how I use them poohey. They are not making any money they suck when I called them they said they couldn't lower the rate % because no one else was getting a lower rate. Also the person on the phone was laughing at me. She sucks too.

I completely agree with that comment about Chase bank! The same thing happened to me and a credit card I had opened with them back in 1995, I've never been late or missed a payment. When I called them they told me that I had gotten a change in terms back in July of 2010. Change in terms? Who the hell has time to read those brochures? And they are also charging me 15.00 a month for a balance transfer that wasn't even a transfer, it was a check cashed, isn't that a cash advance? Makes no difference anyhow since my interest rate went from 13.99 to 22.24% . Chase Bank does suck!

I have had a credit line Visa Card with Chase since 2006. I have never been late with a payment. In addition, I have good credit and my credit report shows that I pay my bills on time. This credit card had a limit of $3700.00. In addition this account came with check writing privileges. I wrote a check for $2000.00 and deposited it into my account. Prior to doing this I called Chase to confirm that what I was doing was alright. I was told it was alright and proceeded. This morning at 8:20am est I did receive a phone call from a man who identified himself as calling from 'Credit Operations'. My caller ID did show 'Private Caller'. This man asked me numerous personal questions and stated it was his job to complete a review of the account. I had to stop him numerous times and ask him to identify himself. In addition, not knowing who in fact I was speaking to, I had to insure that he was who he said he was by identify my employer. After answering his questions I was told that a check which I had written for $2000.00, which had cleared my bank, would not be honored. I then asked to speak to a supervisor, at which point I was put on the phone with 'Larry'. Larry refused to give me his last name, address or contact phone number. Larry told me that because of my credit report showing a high debt to income ratio Chase would not honor this check. i explained that this would cause a problem since I had already accounted for and used the monies. My bank was under the assumption, as was I, that this check had cleared. Chase has caused me, my family, my reputation harm by their inconsiderate and drastic tactics. At no time did Chase advise me that they would not honor my credit line or the check I had written. It was after the fact that Chase did what they did and what they did is wrong. At the least, at this point Chase should have agreed to honor this check. If they want to reduce my limit so be it, but honor the check. It's banks such as this that are causing many American's headaches and heartaches. These big banking institutions feel that there's nothing that and average, hardworking individual can do, or should I say won't do. Chase does not see the harm or the tears in the eyes of the American's that they are hurting. Chase is destroying the same American people who brought them to the status that they are at now. If nothing else the $2000.00 check should have been honored, as not written or verbal notice was given that would have led me to believe anything different.

I have been a loyal customer of Wamu for several years. I have always paid my payments online, on time, and for greater than the minimum amount due. When Chase took over for Wamu they stated that they were unable to transfer the account information and that I would have to enter all of my payment information again. I did this, including re-entering the information to confirm that it was correct. I later received a postcard in the mail stating that they had not received the payment and were adding a late charge (as it was now late) as well as a returned check charge (even though the payment had never gone through). They stated the reason for this was that the bank reported it as an "unknown account" and that I should contact my bank for further information. My bank stated that they did not receive a request for payment from Chase and that I should confirm that the information Chase had was correct. I tried to contact them by phone and was told that the wait time would be greater than 10 minutes and that I should try again later. I then used their online email contact form and submitted a request for more information. When I tried to access my payment account information it would only show the last 4 digits of the account number (which were correct). I received a response from the bank stating that due to the large number of inquiries they would respond in 24 hours. After 2 days, I still had not received a response so I sent another email. I finally received a response stating that the charges were valid and would stand but that they could not give me any of the banking information online. I would have to contact the customer service number for that. I contacted customer service via telephone and was informed that they could not confirm my banking information either. When I explained the problem, they stated that they could not tell me what THEY had but that I could give them the correct information and they could confirm it. When I repeated the correct account number, I was told that "No, that is not what they had". I asked how it differed and they would only state that the last 4 digits (which I could already see online) were correct but that something else was wrong but they couldn't tell me what it was. There is no way that I could enter the information incorrectly more than once. This is obviously a way for them to collect more fees from a "new" customer. After reading other complaints listed here, it appears to be a universal problem. And why should Americans support our banking system? I say, no more bailouts!

We totally understand we have been with Chase for about 4yrs and we have had nothing but headaches with them. The are one of the five big banks and will not help anyone. We have been trying to modifiy both our loans with them and here we are 8 months later, and nothing yet. But they will call religously for there payments to be made on time. They have not only yelled at us, but repeatedly have threatened us. We are at a breaking point with them we are not asking for much just some help to lower our payments so we can keep paying and keep our house. But by the way they move they won't help anyone, but there big fat pockets. So if you ask us Chase is not as good of a bank as they come off as.

JPMorgan Chase payment letter

i had paid my balance off on my chase credit card on march of 2009 and i have called ucb 3 times to get my zero balance letter, and everytime i call, they are willing to listen, they confirm my address with me, and tell me that they will mail but never do, i think that's very rude and disrespectful because when they need to get the money they arrass people but after that they don't want to provide any services.

JPMorgan Chase credit card rate increase

I had two Wamu Credit Cards that were never late and I paid more than the minimum payment. I never had an issue with Wamu. Chase Bank took over WAMU and in January of 2009 one of my cards rate was increased from 14.9% to 23.9% without warning and for no reason, no late payments and again paid more than the minimums. My second card had an introductory rate of 0% for one year (ending this August) then would be 10.9%. I transferred other balances to that card and paid on time and more than the minimums again. Yesterday I received a letter from Chase that they were CANCELLING my card with the lower interest rate and the lower balance for no reason what so ever! Today I received a letter that they were keeping my card with the higher balance and interest rate active but lowering my credit limit! This is a situation that can not continue. I called my Congressman (Kanjorski) who helped with the Credit Card Consumer Bill of Rights (which passed the legislator but that will not go into effect until next year, great timing give the companies plenty of time to screw us over) and was told nothing anyone can do. The companies have the right to cancel cards, raise rates lower limits without notice and for no reason! I THINK WE NEED TO REMOVE ALL THE LEGISLATORS NOW IN CONGRESS AND BRING IN NEW BLOOD! PEOPLE THAT WACTH OUT FOR THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER! LET’S GIVE ALL OF CONGRESS, SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN AND CONGRESSWOMEN TERM LIMITS. ONCE AND YOU'RE OUT. LETS ALL VOTE FOR SOMEONE NEW! THIS IS NOT PARTICIAN, IT IS SURVIVABILITY FOR U.S.! I WILL NOT VOTE FOR AN INCUMBENT EVER AGAIN REGARDLESS OF PARTY!

I had to self reposess a car financed through Chase Bank, they sold the car at auction leaving a balance I owe of $6500. They contacted me for the money I told them my wife was laid off and we were struggling financially but I can try to make low monthly payments until things are better, they said no all money up front. They kept calling and calling and calling so I ignored them as it was no use to hash over same old thing. Anyway my elderly mother 83 yrs old had a savings account with Chase in which she put me on when she was having surgery and being treated for Cancer. They took all of her savings and the poor woman is suffering some serious problems as this is money she used for medication and to pay Dr. Bills. I have not used her account ever and forgot I was even on there, but still Chase bank, a Matthew DeFrance with Chase Auto National Recovery Center in Phoenix Arizona stated when I told him it was my mothers account he said he knows and he doesn't care. Was I pissed, yes, enough to do the unthinkable. What callous disregard these slimballs have..let them come after me, put a lien on my home, sue me but don't injure my mother. I have been taking care of my mother for 3 years and my home and wife are in another state, I have been shuffling between two states to take care of two families. This is for those that don't think a Bank can do this, they can and will and do..is it ethical or morally right, no, legal yes, but what does that mean, if it's legal it can become illegal. I don't have the option to go to the government and ask for a bailout like they do with our taxpayer dollars, do you think Uncle Sam would give me money to bail me out of debt..lol..probably lock me up. Anyway if you would like to talk to Matthew DeFrance call him at [protected] Ext. 3930 and ask him why he is a morally defunct individual.

My issue is I LOVED my WaMu Mastercard account, as they were helping me to rebuild my good credit, 5 years after filing bankruptcy. My FICO score is now near 700, but I do not have enough money for a 20% down payment, so still have to continue to rent, and landlords are raising rents willy-nilly because they can screw all the people who've lost their home ( and made it impossible for me to get a 100% funded loan). Chase notified me almost a year after taking over WaMu, that they were going to lower my maximum credit amount. I had always kept my balance below 50% of maximum, and therefore WaMu had rewarded me by increasing the maximum 2 times. I still have it low, and have always made timely payments over the minimun amt. required. Chase stated their decision was based on my Experian report, which of course, shows all the banko stuff, but my credit since then has been sterling - I have obtained several small accounts and paid them all in full, but kept this one going, so they couldn't close it on me. I think since they had no grounds to increase my interest rate, this was their terror tactic instead. I am fuming. Does it do any good to complain at the government site? Should I get the free copy of my credit report and try to fight it because of the age of the Chapter 7? It should drop off in a couple years anyway.

I basically have the same problem with Chase. Credit card went from 9.9 in Jan. 09, 12.24 in June 09 and July's is 15.24. Calls to complain just get a run around. Talked to 'supervisors' - told no one could lower the rate, even though never late - more than minimum always - customer at WAMU several years. I told them they just raised rates now because the new law will not allow it. She agreed!

Here's site to complain via goverment - don't know if it will help.

Shame on you for canceling our cards without prior notice, but we expected no more from an impersonal, despicable big bank’s takeover of our nice, small town type bank we found in Washington Mutual. We’ve been expecting and waiting for something like this low-life action. And as to the lack of notice, what if we’d been in a position to need the card yesterday?! I found out by trying to set up a computer software trial when the card wouldn’t go through. And as if you cared, what if we were traveling, depending on this card for food, hotel and other services? What’s next, our checking accounts? In spite of our good management, it wouldn’t surprise us at all. I doubt any of you bank monsters have any concerns for individuals, so we’ll manage without your stinking credit cards. We were loyal customers of WAMU but not you high rollers. You are part of what’s wrong with this country. You are bums, a disservice to this country and we’d like you out of our state.

What part of “don’t use any more credit than you have to” don’t you understand? And, what part of paying off your credit card each month instead of letting your abysmal interest pile up money for you don’t you understand. It’s Chase vs their customers except for the high rollers.

And as far as sticking your nose into our credit reports, that is a tactic more recently being used by you impersonal machines to use against and inconvenience us. The one item on our credit report is a human condition, and believe it to be the unjust charge we are going to prevail on, but again your impersonal nazi-style actions prevail.

And what happened to the nice MC who does your commercials. More crap of course from a company who’s record is already exactly that…crap. It’s YOUR record that is found lacking. Have you bothered to see the long list of complaints on the internet? Like a Bank of America founder’s granddaughter is disgusted with what her bank has become, so it goes with you, but doubt you’ve ever been anything but another self-serving financial institution who doesn’t deserve decent people’s business.

And you think this is over? We’re going to put the word out about how you too are one of the bad guys. I’m thinking we should be able to make an indelible impression of what most Americans today suspect is the case. Your and your lot should be run out of business. An economy like this where so many are suffering trying to keep their heads above water and here come the evil landlords. That would be your ilk.

I gave Chase a chance once they took over WAMU. But I began to notice all of the Customer Care Representatives were not in this country. Off shoring American jobs is a big reason for the current recession. I chose not to support them and their efforts to take away more jobs because I have been unemployed for some time now. Their reps don't speak english, they have no empathy and are simply not Americans...I don't want them involved in my finances. But the real kicker was when they cancelled all of our WAMU credit cards with no notice. Just one day you find out you can't use your card without any time to prepare...thats cruel in any economy. No other bank has done that to me and I have other credit cards with various banks. Most recently they double charged us on a debit charge, causing us to incurr several insufficient fund fees and use of our credit card that we used as credit protection. It took them four days to finally reverse the fees for their mistake but we have no way of adjusting the overdraft protection...so of course we are now paying interest on something we never intended paying interest on. I am sorely dissapointed in Chase but grateful for the Internet because I will bash the hell out of them. This week alone I got one of their customers to close their account and changed the mind of another potential customer. Shame on Chase! And wouldn't you know, they are the only bank nationwide that made a profit last quarter...being a theif does pay...but not for long.

I too am a victim of my both of my wamu credit cards being cancelled by chase without notice. Chase is by far the worst financial institution that I have delt with. The notice that was sent regarding the cancellation was dated a week after the fact and their customer services rep just give you what seems to be a rehearsed message. I say take action. Let the news stations know about your dilema, and perhaps you will find that one person that will speak for us all. And if have any other relationship with Chase bank, sever the ties. Close those checking/savings accounts. Don't finance you loans thru them. Go to an institution that will appreciate it. Hit them where it hurts the most. It's really sad because I bet you when Obama was handing our my hard earned tax dollars; they were in line to collect, but this is the treatment you get...NOT

All of you WaMu credit card holders, and I was one, do not stand by and let this happen. They took your tax dollars and now we are being mistreated. Trust me, I am doing everthing to let congress and the news network know what is happening with Chase and WaMu card holders. I hve called both my senators and congressmen and also spoke with the banking committee. I have just got off the phone with an account manager from Chase, who said we could call and see if our card could be reinstated. I had just paid off my card and told her no thanks. This needs to get to all news organizations. I personally am going to call Brian Ross's office with ABC to see if they will investigate. By the way, Chase refinanced my home in December to a 5 1/2$ loan. No letter or phone call did I receive to let me know my accound had been cancelled. Together, we Americans can show these large corporations they cannot bully us. Act now and call your senators and congressmen, white house
new organizations. i have obtained the address and fax number of Jamie Dimon who is president of Chase.
He is goin g to understand that his bank is being trashed all over the internet for the way they are treating WaMu customers.

I too was a WaMu custoner and I too had Chase cancel my card July 21st...without notice...because my revolving open accounts are not high enough. I've never not paid, never paid late, never paid minimun. I was shocked, I only found out because of orders coming back saying they couldn't use the card, it wasn't accepting it. Four days later I got a letter from Chase dated a week PRIOR saying that was when they canceled it. ###! NEVER again Chase, YOU SUCK. Just mean spirited.

They cancelled both my cards previously held with Wamu without prior notice too. Even though I have not had a single late payment and always paid well over the minimum payment, they said my revolving balance was higher percentage-wise than they were comfortable with. They felt I was a liability. Does anyone know what will happen with now with my credit report because of this?

JPMorgan Chase collections department

I was contacted by the collections department on July 13, 2009 about making a check by phone payment because my account was deliquent. The payment was supposed to go through on July 23, 2009, but of course it went through on the 13th. I called Chase on July 17, 2009 and talked to the supervisor, Joyce, who stated that she would look into the situation and call me back. I was told to fax a copy of my bankstatement showing that it would cause an overdraft of my bank account. Today is July 20, 2009 and I haven't been contacted yet but I called them and again I was told to fax my bank statement. They didn't even apologize for the situation knowing that I've told them I'm unemployed. This company sucks as far as having compassion!

JPMorgan Chase decreased credit limit during the month then charged over the limit fee!

Noticed credit card was not working, went online to see if there was something wrong. I noticed the credit limit had been almost cut in half. Then I noticed I was over the limit and they were charging me an over the limit fee! I have never been late over my limit and pay my balance in full every month. I called chase and the horrible customer service just kept saying it is "ligitamate business practices." They were rediculous talked with three different people and the READ me the same lines. Could not understand how they can opt to change the credit limit mid-billing cycle and then charge an over the credit limit when I had not been informed of the credit limit change. They told me I would receive a notice in about 7-10 business days. I have 2 cards with them and I refuse to use them now.

Hi,

Chase has the WORST customer service I have ever encountered. Every Customer Service Rep lies, lies and lies. I have been given erroneous information, forced to stay on the phone over 45 minutes, transferred up to 6 times during a call and still have not received the assistance needed.

Chase doesn't deliver the customer service that it promises and believe at this point Chase has even lied about the level of service they can offer.

Chase is the worst. Andrea and Lani were horrible. I cant believe a Billion dollar company will tolerate or encourage such bad customer service.
Lani which is the supervisor I requested was rude and uninterested in my complaint regarding Andrea. When I asked to speak to Lani supervisor she gave me a false number 312.574.2010 and said its her supervisor Mye Paras!
I am closing my account today - this is intolerable. I have contacted my lawyer as well and he is advising me if this is fraud and taking it through the chain of commands with Chase.

My old room mate and I shared a cell phone, and she had a Chase credit card. She moved out and became homeless, and I have no way of contacting her. Chase repeatedly calls me, sometimes 7 times a day starting very early, asking for her. I have repeatedly told them she doesn't live here anymore, so they start yelling at me! This is rediculous. I remember when she started having financial trouble and told them they would get the money as soon as she had it, and they would call back 5 minutes later asking for money again. Everytime they called, it cost us money that she could be paying them. She told them that once and they got furious.
They also need customer service that don't speak butchered English. If they want cooperation..well its hard to cooperate when you can't understand what somebody is saying.
I wish they would quit calling me. She doesn't live here anymore. She doesn't have a phone that they can get ahold of her at. If she's homeless, I doubt she can pay off her bill.

The employees in the collections department at chase bank are worse than 100 Hyenas over 1 lion cub. I received a phone call from a chase employer credit collector. My car loan is 25 days past due. I did not know this as I do not pay the car loan. This chase employee whose name is Morgan and I.D. # E259443 continued to harrass me on the phone after explaining I was overdrawn on my personal account and could not pay this payment. I gave him my husband's cell phone number who was at work at the time and unable to answer the phone. This so-called human named Morgan (employee # E259443) expected me to call someone right then and there and get the money from God only knows who. I told him I had no one to call however, maybe he should call our president of the United States to get the money from since he bailed out of the banks so he could keep his job unlike the majority of us in America. After saying this he informed me that he was marking my account as uncooperative to pay. I told him do what you think you need to do and God Bless Your Soul.

On another note, I have a second car loan through U.S. Bank. I had gotten behind on it 4 months after falling on hard times. The employees there were very sweet and understanding. They informed me that they were willing to work with me however possible. The only other phone call I received from them was a courtesy call reminding me of their deposit of a over the phone posted dated check I gave them. That was in November 2009 and I am still about 30 to 45 days past due and each month they give me a courtesy call to see if I am able to make some sort of payment.

The odd thing is I have my checking and savings account with Chase. After my conversation with the most rudest bill collector I have ever encountered, you can bet on it that I will be at chase bank in the morning closing both my accounts.

Today (3/1/2011) closed chase checking account because chase want to change the regular wamu customer into their own rules. I'm over 24 years old and they ask me if I am returning to school then they will put it in a college fund with no fees but the rules for them stated that only 17-24 years of age. The really madden part is I closed my account but the rep (Customer Service) let me wait and cross my name out without letting me know about it and let 2 other customer behind me cut in front. Plus the rep guy who wrote down my account to close it but wrote in the wrong form (Deposit) and then he notice it and wrote on the right form (withdrawal) and then he throw the other way and my card without cutting it just throw it like that in the open trash bin. There more when I was still with them but I don't want to complain too much...

I also hate Chase Bank, and I have never done business with them, and never will for the rest of my life. It is the advertisements I get in my mail that causes this.

I have encounter the worst customer service at a Chase bank in Round Rock Texas, this bank is located at 280 University Drive. The customer service personnel do not even acknowledge that you are present and then when you ask for assistance they act as though you are bothering them . I have encountered nice, professional associates at the Chase Bank on Sam Bass road in Round Rock and wonderful customer service at the 7th Street Chase bank in Austin Texas all together I will give Chase Bank a 3 rating and I am looking elsewhere to bank.

Chase is horrible! They cancelled my credit card which used to be WAMU. I have had my mortgage and card with them since 2004. Perfect payment history, paid more than the minimun, early payments, etc. They used the excuse that they ran my credit report and found some problems. Not with them or with any of my creditors in the last 5 years. What BS! I hope they go out of business and I will pay this card off ASAP to avoid giving them any more of my money.

JPMorgan Chase disability discrimination

I am a disabled person with a tracheostomy. And I went to cash a check that was drawn on their bank from National College, After charging me $6 and me giving them my driver license, they insisted on another piece of ID. They were smug, and staring at my Trache. I gave them my fishing license, travel rewards card and my WV medical insurance card. But they still refused. I went to my car and returned (all the while struggling to to breathe). I returned and gave them my Property Tax Bill, My Car registration ticket and card, My insurance ID cards, My blood donor Card, my Auto Tax bill, but still they refuse and by this time they were sniggering at me. I told them, that I knew that they were hasseling me because of my disability, the assistant manager said, "No just those forms of ID wont do". I went back to my car and got my social security card, and took that to them. They refused my Social security card, but finally said since I was disabled they could accept my travel rewards card! Now anyone can get a travel rewards card. Then they acted like they didnt think the check would clear the College's account, after about standing their an additional 15, huffing and puffing about ready to collapse, they finally cashed it. I have already called customer service and told them what happened, but they were not interested. How ever she did say she would have it investigated. I plan on filing a complaint with my state attorney generals office, and see if they will help me. I would advise anyone else to do the same. That was the most horrible experience I have EVER encountered at a bank. Of course they kept telling me, if I opened up an account there, I would have no problems cashing checks! This was after offering AT LEAST 10 other pieces of government issued documents, showing my mailing address (which was on the check and my drivers license). This chase bank is sick!

Closing your credit card will decrease your credit score anyway...file the dispute on the unauthorized charges and request the account to be closed due to fraud.

Rowan,

I agree with you that disability was not the issue in this case, it was a matter of acceptable forms of ID for check cashing purposes. And the OP doesn't have a chance at any type of complaint with the State or any other entity. However, I do not agree with your sentiment regarding being too disabled to drive, travel, and fish. I do all of these things and I am disabled. Not "perceived" to be disabled either. I fish, camp (with some small changes obviously) go see shows, go to the mall, etc. all from my Quickie Revolution.

I do not think being disabled means getting around rules though, which is why the complaint just doesn't hold water.

You say you are so disabled it was extremely hard for you stand there and to go back to your car to get more id? Yet you drive, travel and fish... all according to the cards you were trying to use as ID. See, this is my complaint with you: You are claiming discrimination based on your, "trache" but that wasn't really the issue. You didn't have the required two forms of ID to cash a check at a bank where you are not their client and you are using your perceived disability as a reason they should set aside their rules. In other words, you want special treatment...Where as I, with a prosthetic leg just want to be treated normally. I seriously doubt anyone was would refuse to cash a check because the person in front of them had a, "trache."

There are serious issues of discrimination, (of all forms) in the world. However it is those few individuals who feel so very entitled and demand something extra, ( like in your case, skating around their rules regarding ID, ) because of their disability that FORCE those in public service to be very wary of ANYONE who has some sort of protected status.

You are fortunate that Bank Manager took the ID she did. Next time, go to your own bank to cash your check and leave claims of discrimination to those persons who have REAL problems.
