KIA Motors 2016 Kia Sorento Engine fire while driving

On 6/2/2023 as I was driving on the interstate My Kia Sorento LX it made a slight tapping noise for about 5 miles before the engine completely lost power & brakes, it began to smoke, I was able to get off the main Hwy, the warning track helped slow the vehicle, but when I saw flames & smoke coming into the cabin I had to get out, I was able to use park to get it to stop. Soon as I left the vehicle it became engulfed in flames. There was no warning lights to indicate issues while driving, however it had been taken to the dealership for a oil change, engine light & anti theft recall. They changed the oil, reset the engine light stating it was a CO2 sensor & if it came back on to call, it did not, also the recall was unavailable due to it was causing computer issues. My car had 68K miles & still should be under warranty but since it's not able to be taken in to the dealership I had no choice but file a claim with my insurance, needless to say I'm left being out of a car that should have been under warranty, I filed my 1st complaint 6/5/23 & still not heard from Kia.

Desired outcome: I would like my vehicle replaced, with what I had.

KIA Motors Kia Soul 2020

I own Kia Soul 2020. I will not recommend this company to anyone. Currently, my vehicle has 11,500 miles on it. I started having problems with oil change over a year ago, the oil changes were becoming more frequent despite very low mileage. I have started an oil consumption test in New Jersey and then had to take the car for service in NY since I have moved. The Kia apparently doesn't accept the consumption tests from different service providers, they insist they all have been done in the same shop and they require 3 consumption test before they even start any modifications. The condition of the vehicle has been deteriorating recently. The oil has to be replaced every 700 miles (not even a 1000 as initially requested) . The engine light is coming up every few weeks. The engine is knocking, the car is shaking and stalling. The Kia customer service has not been helpful, trying to come up with different requirements and hoops to jump after the fact. Also not all service providers ("independent Kia contractors", as they being referred by Kia customer service) are not all functioning properly, or have a working tech lines to submit the repair requests. They are also overwhelmed by the demand for repairs as the customers have extensive problems with these vehicles. The Kia company is disgracefull. They are not honoring their warranty obligations and jeopardizing the lives of its customers. They reimbursement for rental or any other replacements is just a fracture of the actual cost.

Desired outcome: I want the car to be fixed asap by the replacement of the engine before the whole vehicle break down. Alternatively, I want a full refund.

KIA Motors Poor service

My Kia Sportage went wrong, making unusual noises on the 10th May 2023, I therefore rang Grantham Kia where I purchased the car 2 years previously. I explained my car needed looking at, they were unable to allocate me a time or date for the car to be looked at. I was also informed that the warranty did not cover fan belts. I therefore booked the car into my local garage on Monday 15th May, they confirmed me they will use Kia parts, to rectify the problem. After paying £94 to have a new fan belt put on it started making the same noises after 2 miles. The garage did query the tensioner and said it needed looking at.

The car was serviced only several weeks previously and I queried this might be a fault as a neighbour had the same trouble with his Sportage but was told there wasn’t any problems!

I rang Grantham Kia again on Tuesday 16th May who informed me we would have to get it towed in at our own expense of £80, which we did on Thursday 18th May. I also stressed the urgency of a courtesy car but this took a further 9 days to sort out, receiving the courtesy car on Wednesday 24th May, which I feel was excessive time to wait and required me to take time off work.

I rang Kia garage approximately one week later and enquired if the work was complete. I was informed I could now pick my car up but an engine warning light was on and this would be rectified at a later date. I declined the offer as during the initial problem no warning light had been activated.

It has since come to my attention via numerous media outlets that Kia and Hyundai have issues with the tensioner.

I feel a refund is in order for both the £94 and £80, I bought the new car expecting not to have any unexpected bills, that is why this is our third new Sportage?

I await your reply.

KIA Motors Kia motors

I have a 2015 Kia optima, with 60,000 miles on it. The engine just randomly died despite me taking immaculate care of it. This has been an issue with many other Kia‘s and Kia is supposed to have an excellent warranty and replace the engine free of cost to you. Well, they would not replace my engine because I could not provide proof of oil changes, because I change my own oil. I have never had an issue like this and I’ve been changing my oil for many years so obviously this is not the issue. I would like Kia to make good on their warranty and replace my engine. I am left without a car and I’m paying for a rental car while I wait for an answer from Kia and I cannot get through to them . I tried to call customer service and was waiting for over two hours and no one ever answered. I am at a loss and don’t know what to do now I cannot afford this problem. Please help me!

Desired outcome: Replace engine or pay me for a replacement

KIA Motors Purchased my 2020 KIA on May 12, 2023

I am trying to get my Title, so I can register my car. I have had FOUR Odometer forms emailed to me. Which , I have signed and checked the box off as requested and emailed back per instructions from customer service reps. THREE Bill Of Sales which I have signed. I also mailed out signed originals to the address provided to me. Customer Service has no CLUE nor record of my SIGNED Documents.

This has been going on for at least 2 weeks.

Yesterday June 7, 2023 at 11:00 am EST I faxed out the signed Bill of Sale and Odometer Disclosure Statement ( I HAVE THE COPIES) . Called Customer Service today June 8, 2023, to ensure they received my fax ( with a cover sheet)

No record of them. The RUDE Supervisor told me I did not sign the documents . I told her I had the copies from the fax, that show I did . She told me I had to do it again. She said that is all I can do for you. This is UNREAL I want my Title, the car is paid in full. My Account # is [protected] Please help me. Thanks Dolores Guilfoyle

KIA Motors My new car purchase contract.

I bought a 2023 Kia Sorento in Huntsville Al on 6/3. I love my sales person he wea great and the price was good as well. My problem can in my contract and dealing with the financial agent Mr Blasingame.

I asked him several times why he was adding $400 lux care and $1,128.00 aws maintenance fee to my car total my car went from the quote price of $37,479.50 to

$39,625.00. I listen to his explanation and he convinced me this is normal so I signed. I since learned it was not normal for a new car and will be paying 8.3% interest for these items. I immediately asked for a n addendum and was told if he removed the fees he would then retract my agreed upon amount for the car. My father is an attorney and he thinks this is a fraudulent charge and misleading contract I love the car and want to keep it. I am now unable to speak with Mr. Blasingame he has responded to my calls or emails. If this is indeed Kia normal practice then please explain it in writing otherwise my father is threatening to take further action against Kia and I will have to give the car back. My state does all car to be returned in case of fraudulent practices in the written contract. Please explain why I am to pay interest on this extra fees at an 8.3% rate for the next 5 years. Thank you in advance.

Desired outcome: I would like the $1,528 removed and to sign a new contract with the unnecessary charges with out the threat of increasing the car back to the sticker price.

KIA Motors Problems with engine in a 2016 KIA Sorento

I purchased a 2016 KIA Sorento on [protected] from a local dealership. At the time 117983 miles. I also purchased an extended warranty from the dealership through AUL. The up- keep records were up to date and scheduled maintenance was performed as recommended by KIA.

On 05-17-2023 I had scheduled a oil change and tire rotation, which was early but I wanted it done before we traveled. On 05-16-2023, as I was heading to the car wash, I noticed the temp gauge pegged in the red. Being a block or less from the dealership, I pulled in and told them what was going on. I had noticed the day before that the fan in the engine compartment was still on after turning the car off. From the day we drove off the lot to the 16th not one indication of a problem presented itself.

In a few days, I spoke with the shop manager and he said that I was very low on antifreeze but they can't find a leak. I never smelled anything nor was there any spots of antifreeze on the ground. It was determined that it had a blown head gasket and they were waiting on AUL to authorize repair.

The go ahead to repair was given however they found that the head bolts were stripped. The warranty will not pay for that.

KIA has had numerous problems including the problem with the bolts, have been reported. The problems have been reported but KIA has not addressed all of the problems nor expressed any fixes or compensations to fix some of the problems.

Desired outcome: That KIA takes the steps to address the problems and fix them.

KIA Motors 2016 KIA OPTIMA

I have a 2016 KIA OPTIMA VIN#5XXGU4L38GG103014

I bought this car at ORR KIA IN TEXARKANA, TX

I have over 159,000 miles and at 100,000 miles it started to use 2 quarts of oil, I went to the dealership and they said don't put any oil just let it lock up and then we see if we can do anything. I said I wasn't going to that, I will continue to put 2 quarts in a week, and now it's starting to foul out my spark plugs.

I need someone to tell me if anything is going to be done about my motor?

KIA Motors 2014 Kia Sorento white.

I have bought more than 8 or 9 Kias in the pest years for myself and kids. Love them. The 2014 had an engine problem they replaced it. But it started chipping paint before the motor issue. Wasn't worried we get a new one about every three years. Well now that i have a new motor it looks like crap. As i learned this in not uncommon. Kia are you going to not doing anything for us out there that buy again again and again. I try local dealer they cant and corp has been no help. I guess as the rest I must go look for another brand. Sad it is about time to buy for one of my kids(16) and myself again. You have a following and we are all looking to what are you going to do. Are you going to show class and integrity. Stand behind your product.

KIA Motors 2013 kia sorento pearl white paint peeling

The snow white pearl paint peeled from the front of the roof (just above the windshield), both A-pillars, top of the rear hatch door, and several other areas. It was brought to the attention of our local KIA dealer in Tampa. I was told the paint is not warranted! Well 5-years later, I had to repaint the entire vehicle as some of the roof areas began to rust. To repaint the vehicle, at my expense, was going to be over $4000 for a 10-year old car! I had them do the next best thing to stay within my budget (fully retired) and had them respray the vehicle in regular KIA white ($2300). Needless to say, I am not pleased with the initial KIA response and was told KIA recalled the snow white pearl on several vehicles, but not my year. BS!

Desired outcome: It would be nice for KIA to make good on my paid receipt for the paint job. I bought my son a KIA Forte 7 years ago. The silver paint is fine on his car.

KIA Motors Stolen vehicle and multiple break-ins

I had a 2019 Kia Sportage. It was broken into a total of 4 times. After the 4th time, I went to get what I was told was an “anti-theft” software upgrade. About 3 weeks later, my car was stolen from my work parking garage. My car has since been totaled. This whole ordeal has cost me a lot, from financial and personal losses (stolen items), to now having to deal with purchasing a new car. I will be certain my next car is NOT a Kia!

KIA Motors Kia soul

My kia soul 2022 started making crazy noice so i contacted the company before i could take it to them it broke down and i had to use roadside assistance.It was towed to the nearest kia which was was over an hour away.It was there 3 weeks before they even looked at it.Said it should be ready this week now they say could be 1-2 or more weeks .its already been a month.I was under the impression if it was under warranty which it is they would give me another car to drive Instead they give you a number to call and they say you can rent a car on your on and they may reimburse you after its fixed.I cannot afford to pay 370 a week for a rental plus still paying my car and having to pay for rides to get my husband who goes to diaylsis every other day.

Desired outcome: i need a rental till my car is fixed.

KIA Motors Deceased Lessor E.O.L. Options

The Case of the Deceased Lessor.

Of potential companies to do business with, I would seriously debate doing business with Kia finance or any of their related companies. The various departments went out of their way, repeat out of their way to cause such inconvenience for me that it's nearly unspeakable. At the end of my lease I was provided options to purchase or return a vehicle but also had the option to exsend the lease up to 6 months while choosing to make a decision on a new purchase or lease. I simply wasn't ready yet. I was told I had the option to continue leasing my current vehicle for another 6 months with full coverage. The company accepted 2 months of advanced payments so I was covered at least until June 20th. I did this all Believing that I had my least extension however I've been receiving notices from a different apartment saying I was in default and needed to return the car immediately. After sorting through all the disputed information it turns out that regardless of how many people at the head of various departments told me that I was allowed to continue the least, the bylaws of the company do not allow the least to continue under the name of a deceased person. At the time of my lease it was more advantageous to have my father Under his credit than mine. My credit is great now. However because the lessor is no longer living, there is no transfer option there is purchase or return. They let me believe I was on a month to month I paid 2 months ahead I paid a full year's registration and repairs to the car , I might not have committed to doing all those things if the intention would have been to return the vehicle for a new one... I am now left with very little options That will see me right side up with a vehicle, other than buy the car. I'm in a position now where I must buy the vehicle, With the expenses already put in it's counter productive not too. But you can feel that I don't Really want to give that corporation any money. I'm almost willing to cut my nose off to spite my face just to not give them another penny however they will back end me to death with return charges so again I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.

I got screwed royally and burned in the process to be dragged through the mud to have to re punish all of my father's documents to the deceased department just to be told That what I was originally told isn't true. I have no recourse...

So, KIA... what's next? My intent might be to buy the car now, but when I get around to paying for it is a whole different story.

KIA Motors Kia Carnival

Dear KIA,

We own a KIA carnival 2021, and recently it had a minor sound from the gear and the dealer here is not ready to repair it under warranty. The vehicle has run 97,000 Km and the gear oil supposed to be changed at 90,000 km. that is the reason why they are not willing to change it under warranty. I'm pretty sure that KIA's gear box could withstand 7000 km exta millage and it is not the real reason of the issue. 1st the service center representative called telling us the gear has burned as the oil was not changed, which was surprising for us. so, we went personally and checked the dismantled gear box and we understood they were making up the story.

Then they came up with another reason saying that the filter is clogged and that's the reason for the abnormal sound. I would like to comment and complain about the unprofessional method of the troubleshooting and preliminary inspection. I believe if the gear oil was changed and tested the issue might have been sorted out. But the service center suggested and went on directly to dismantle the gear box. I believe it is clear unprofessional way of doing work with negligence. Kindly support us with this issue.

KIA Motors Buying new cars

We made a deal to buy 2 kia forte from Winn Kia of Fremont CA. Making deal with Manuel Lopez and made a deal for two cars and to pick up on the weekend. Deal was final out the door price paying 10k down each car. He was waiting for us and we were halfway to the dealership. We don't live close to there and we drove from 90 miles. He called us and told us sorry we sold your car. We were so upset it was rude disrespectful and unprofessional. So finally we stop at Dublin and we got two Nissian Altima. We hate this customer service and will never go back to Kia.

KIA Motors Peeling Pearl white paint 2015 Sorento LSX

About 18 months ago the paint on my 2015 Kia Sorento SX started peeling off the front of the hood and on either side of the windshield. I called the local Dealer and the "Service" manager told me to bad the paint warranty ended at 35,000 miles, even though I had the extended 100,000-mile warranty.

My wife started contacting KIA Motors of America and still no response or resolution. Now the paint is peeling on the upper front quarter panels (Fenders) and looks terrible.

One would think when you buy a car with a sticker price of almost $45,000 that the paint would hold up.

My 1994 Ford F350 and our 2009 Subaru Forrester are also white and have no problem with the paint, go figure.

Will KIA ever step up and resolve this issue or am I stuck with this obvious defective paint?

Desired outcome: Repaint, and repair effective areas of our 2015 Sorento SX Limited.

KIA Motors Kia Sportage 2021

I bought a Kia Sportage last year month of October 2022. I been having some issue with this vechicle for what am paying for it there should have been anything for me to already taken it back not only for recalls. But I took it back to Tallasse Ford to look at the gas pump first because when I push down on the gas petal it like it went backward. They told me to take it to Kia which I did they said they didn't see any problems but the did a recall now the pressure on the passanger side right front tie is continue to decrease in air pressure.

I have tried to resolve this problem I took it to Parker Tires in Tallassee they said they plug the tire, had to take again to Wetumpka Tire Pro's and Kia in Auburn no one has solved this issue and it getting dangerous myself and some friend had to put air in the tire again a couple of days after Kia in Auburn said they fixed it. I called them to bring the car but they would loan me another to used for personal business. They told me you all wasn't going to do anything about this issue I really hope that not the case with all the recall that's happen. This is very dangerous driving and with a tire losing air pressure. This really have been in convenient and know very disappointing when I spoke with Kia in Auburn. I hope you can resolve this issue which has been happen both months of April and May 2023. Thank you Vera Adamson [protected]

KIA Motors Oil change and tire rotation

I took my 2020 Kia Sportage for service in April. Had to wait several days to get an appointment. asked for oil change and tire rotation. also requested complimentary car wash. asked them to check tires because there was a roar in the back of the car. after they finished they told me I needed new tires. upon arrival I had asked them to give me an estimate on a set of new tires. no estimate was given and no complimentary car wash was given. when I got home I called Rusty Wallace Kia on Callahan Road in Knoxville Tennessee and asked them for an appointment to have wheel bearings checked. We put new tires on the car because I was told the next appointment would be May 30. That was about a month to wait. My husband began looking into changing the wheel bearing himself. We boughtr the part which cost $199.99 plus a tool to get to the wheel bearing for $15.00 plus the time he spent doing the job. When he brought the wheel bearing to show me it was rusted and would not spin freely. This car has 44350 miles on it. Should not have had a wheel bearing go bad. Everything has changed since we bought the car. The friendliness of the personnel is gone. everytime I call for service I have to wait 5 to 7 days. I will not be taking my car to this dealership for service any longer.

Desired outcome: I think a reimbursement would be nice. other than that I have nothing to offer about this incident except to say I will never buy another car from this dealership.

KIA Motors It appears that the engine's bearings failed without warning

I became the proud owner of a 2016 Kia Sorento, which I got from Jerry Smith KIA in Burlington, Washington, in February 2020. This car has received prompt service for every maintenance item at the dealership where I bought it. Other than the expected wear and tear, I have never experienced any unneeded problems with the car. It's driven 144,250 miles. I had no warning what so ever that there was an issue with the motor.

I had the car inspected and had the regular oil changed on April 20th, 2023, and everything was fine. On April 22, 2023, I drove the Kia while out to dinner with my daughter and her friends. On the way home, however, after dropping the girls off, the car cut out and died, but I was still able to make it to the side of the road. The engine knocked like a rod and wouldn't stay turned over for more than ten seconds when I tried to start the car again. All the dash lights lit up and engine sounded like a rattle can.

I had the car towed the following morning to the dealership where I have it serviced. After a week, they were able to identify the problem. It appears that the engine's bearings failed. They estimated that a replacement engine would cost $18,000. The vehicle has a negative equity of $13,000, which is too high for me to trade in. Spending that much money on it is not worthwhile. It is currently yard art in my driveway. Despite my attempts to rectify the situation, I am still left with a sense of dissatisfaction and regret over this purchase. It's a lesson learned, but one that comes at a steep cost.

Desired outcome: would like the motor replaced under warranty or bought back at the remaining balanced owed.
