I went to this store on Valentine's Day and made purchases of about $177.00 on my Kohl's Charge. I received $30.00 in Kohl's Cash. The next day I had to return 2 items worth $62.00 since it did not fit me. When I went to the customer service counter to do the return with my receipt the cashier explained to me that this will reduce my Kohl's Cash unless I put the return on a Kohl's gift card or Merchandise Credit card is what they call it. So I said that it was okay. I could use my Kohls Cash from the 15th through the 24th I believe so I went back yesterday. When I was at the register, the cashier gave me 15% off my total and then applied my Kohls cash. First RIP OFF: The cash came off first and then took the 15% off which was applied prior. Then the lady tells me that I only had $10.00 remaining on my Kohls Cash. This is ABSURD: So I explained to her that I was told differently and thats why I used the gift card for return and not on my Kohls charge. Why would I select to pay interest on my credit card when I had the receipt for the return. So she calls the manager. Manager tells me that since the purchase was made on the 14th and its been a few days after she couldnt really do anything. ARE YOU SERIOUS? So I argued and told her everything all over again and she tells the cashier to give me the manual credit and then turns around to tell me that this is the 1st and the last time they would do something for me since they dont apply manual credits making me look stupid as if I was stealing. I am so done with this company! Something needs to be done!

Not to disagree with what you're complaining about, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the manager was in no way trying to make you look stupid or like you were trying to steal. She was just letting you know that they don't usually do this, and letting anyone else in line know that it wasn't going to happen again. If you don't set boundaries, people will just walk all over you.

I totally agree with you because the same thing happened to me.
There is thought fineprint on KOHLS CASH which states that ammunt will be deduced first and then discount be applied.
My thinking is that KOHLS should not call this coupon CASH because it implies that it is worth the same as cash which in this case is not.

First of all, Kohl's Cash is a coupon. If you think otherwise, take it to your bank and deposit it into your account. The coupons clearly state exactly how they are applied to a purchase. In fact, it is printed on the coupon in bold. Since Kohl's issued the coupon, they can put any restrictions and limitations on it that they want. If they want it only valid on coffee cups, they can do it. If you didn't bother to read and are mad because things didn't work the way you assumed they would, be mad at yourself. I bet you had caused a scene and were rude and obnoxious at the check out. The manager likely only gave you the discount just to get you out of the store so the hundreds of good customers didn't have to suffer in line for your stupidity.

I agree that the Kohls Cash is a coupon. Please think about it like this. They gave you FREE money. " Return to our store and use this FREE money any way you wish." They dont even require that you spend moey to use that money! They are not going to give you a 20% discount on FREE money! They have excellent deals and Kohls Cash is just a nice fluffy topping!

I actually work at Kohls and you're right, if you got your return put on merchandise credit, the $30 kohls cash should still be legit. The problem is, for whatever reason, the computers still void out the kohls cash. So what you need to do is have the receipt from your return and just explain (nicely, because we dont want to listen to you if you're being rude) that the return was put on merchandise credit and that the kohls cash is still supposed to be valid. I don't know how the Kohls are in California, I work at a store in New York, but when you explain that to us we are more than willing to give you the correct amount. The cashier (and especially not the manager) shouldn't have been rude to you about it. Theres nothing I hate more than rude people that work in customer service...

I bought a vacuum cleaner for $134.81. I got 20 dollars Kohls cash when I purchased it. But Since samsclub was selling it for $99.00, I returned what i purchased in kohls and wanted my money back. They said since i have got $20 cash back, they will return only 113.41 cents back in my credit card, or will give $134.81 cents in store credit and i can still use the 20 kohls cash. Why would they return only 113.41 cents when they have to pay me 114.81 cents (134.81 minus 20)? Where is my 1.41 cents when I want my money back. We pay 7% sales tax here & they are actually charging 7% of the 20 dollars cash as well & are not returning that tax amount. Check your receipts.

Now what I am planning to do is, I have around 175 dollars of instore credit. Whenever they are offering Kohls cash, I am going to go buy stuff worth 150 dollars, get 30 dollars kohls cash. Then I will return all the items and get instore credit for 180 dollars. I will keep repeating this until i make as much as i can.

I hate to break it to you, sivar, but you're not making any money that way. See, funny story. The merchandise credit's only good at Kohl's. You have to buy things at Kohl's to use the credit.

I work at Kohls in San Rafael, CA. It is a nightmare, they seem to like the bullies & the employees that don't value customer service, & if they see that you are a nice person & the customers like you, then they pick on you. They tell you to try to open as many Kohls charge accounts as possible, bu when I was opening a Kohls charge the assistant manager came down & yelled at me in front of the customer she said "Are you still with the same customer, I told you to get over to the mens department!" At this point the customer says "she is doing a great job" - meaning me. Also we get paid just above minimum wage & in the two weeks I have worked there, I have been threatened with Termination at least 4 times, maybe more. The first time, they made me sign a letter, because I took my lunch 1/2 an hour after you are officially supposed to take your lunch at Kohls (it was my first day & I did not know), then an hour later, they page me an have me come up to the Loss Prevention Office. My manager is there and the LP supervisor. He starts introducing himself & explaining what loss prevention does. I am thinking WHAT THE HELL DO THEY THINK I DID! I turned out that I had a nice customer who when I gave her the 10.00 in Kohls cash, she said she would not be able to use it because she was going away & would I like it. I said sure, thank you. Aparantly we are not supposed to except gifts. Then I got the flu at work & was throwing up and asked to leave 2 hours early, they said ok. two days later a coffee table size piece of my living room ceiling came down and about a ton of smelly water. I had to go in to Kohls after take a 5 hour traffic school class, I wasn't scheduled that day, they just asked me to come in. On my break I witnessed a violent confrontation in the parking lot that had me fearing that guns would be drawn, so after all that I explained what was going on to my assistant mangaer & she did not say, how awful or anything, she just threatened to fire me if I ever needed to leave again. They have yelled at me numerous times, once for taking my lunch when the assistant manger said too and having another manager yell at me when I came back caust he had been looking for me. OH MY GOD! Is this worth 9.15 and hour! One of my friends there was asked to stay on after the holidays are over and she told them she would not have her DOG working at Kohls!

I agree with the topic poster. Kohls is scamming the buyers with their Kohls Cash policy. There shouldn't be a policy to begin with. We don't care if they issue us Kohls Cash or not. Just give us % off coupons if they or lower their prices. But no, they want to fraud the government with their accounting, doule wammy if you understand. People are forced to accept Kohls Cash whether they want it or not. You can't force people not to return items. People have the right to return anything they want. If Kohls don't want people to cheat on them, THEN DON'T ISSUE US "KOHLS CASH". They want people to come to their stores with this Kohls Cash scheme. They take the $$$ and if you return items, they deduct Kohls Cash amount off of your total purchase. hahahha...what a scam...We need to have a class action lawsuit for this. It's not legal to scam the public. We CAN and WILL return whatever the FACK we want!KOHLS CASH IS A SCAM. FRAUD THE CONSUMMERS and GOVERNMENT, TAX EVASION...store credits? LOL...please don't insult my intelligence KOHLS EMPLOYEES...you know it's fraud so shut the bleep up!

All of you who say the Kohls Cash is a rip off are idiots. Kohls DOES NOT HAVE TO GIVE YOU THAT MONEY. They CHOOSE TO GIVE YOU THAT MONEY. It's FREE FRICKEN MONEY. They are not going to give you extra percent off the free money. And if some of you would read, it clearly states this on the back of the Kohls Cash.

Uh, hello? You returned items. You got your money back. Sure, you earned the Kohls Cash, but for only spending the money that you just made a return on. OF COURSE THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE YOUR KOHL'S CASH. Are you daft? Why would they let you keep it? That's like saying that if someone bought $1, 000 worth of items and returned them, they should get to keep their $200 Kohls cash. They're not going to give you free money for free.

As a side note, you can return anything you want to Kohls. However, how you get your money back depends on how you paid for it in the first place. Did you pay with a Kohls Charge or credit card? It's going back on your card. But if you paid for an item with Kohls Cash, gift card, or merch credit, you're getting merch credit. The end.

It's free money, and there really is no way to sue Kohls. They haven't done ANYTHING wrong. I'd love to see someone try to sue them, it would be way funny.

People really need to learn that life can't always go their way. There are rules and regulations for everything in life, and rarely is something given for free. If your life is so boring that you have to [censor] about Kohls Cash you need to find something to fill all that free time.

I made a $200+ purchase and rec'd $60 Kohls cash. I used the Kohls cash to buy a vacuum using the entire $60 Kohls cash and an additional $30 of my own. But now some of the items I purchased did not work out and I would like to return a portion of my order, about $140. Will Kohls grant me the full return of $140 or will they deduct the $60 Kohls cash from my return ($140-$60=$80) ? Basically, what happens if you'd like to make a return after already using the Kohl's Cash. How will that effect your refund? And will the refund be in the same form (cc) or will I have to get mdse credit? Yes, I have the receipt and the transaction has been less than 30 days. Any thoughts?

You'll get the 60 back on a Merchandise Credit, to be spent in store. Once you've spent the Kohl's Cash, you can either lose the 60 dollars, or have the 60 to spend in the store at a later date. So long as you don't mind getting the money back in in-store credit, you won't lose anything.

People always expect free stuff, nothing in life is free, HELLO. People, just go to Kohl's as you normally would, purchase what you planned on, and pay what you wanted to pay. Then when you go back and spend your Kohl's cash, be happy that you got a small break in life. Then if you decide that you don't want the merchandise any longer and you return it, either return it and be at the same place as you were before, with no Kohl's cash, or put it on a merchandise card so you can buy something else at another time. No one is out to cheat someone. It is a neat way for Kohl's to get people to come shop at their stores. Hey, who blames them. I would lot's rather shop at a place that will reward me with $30.00 in merchandise the next week for me buying $150.00 of merchandise, than me just buying $150.00 of merchandise. They are not twisting anyone's arm. No one has to take the Kohl's cash.

I actually work at Kohl's and I see where your coming from but you get the Kohls cash for every 50$ you spend so lets say you made a purchase for 130 you get 30$ because it has to be before taxes. Now if your gonna return the half of it then its logical that they take it away from you cuz you didnt spend that money why would they give you kohls cash. And the manager was trying to let the other costumers know that we can't do that all the time so they dont take advantage of us.

If you get $30 Kohl's cash for a previous purchase use it to buy something as close to $30 as you can. Do a totally different transaction to buy anything else you might have to return so you don't have to worry about them taking a portion of the Kohl's cash off your return. I'm not trying to suggest that you should "get something for nothing" but when Kohl's uses their Kohl's cash as a marketing tool to get you to buy something (in fact, advertising that an item ends up being less with your Kohl's cash) then a customer should use the benefit of their "cash" in the most effective way.

Kohl's cash is a big joke. They found a way to literally rip off the consumer. I paid $161.50 total. 1 item 19.20 the other 132.99 plus 9.31 sales tax. Gave my sister gift receipts for the 2 items. I did receive $30 in Kohl's cash but did not spend it since the items were going to be returned. 1 item received $15.41 the other $106.78 plus $7.47 sales tax for a total of $129.66. 129.66 plus 30 kohls cash is 159.66. I paid 161.50

Kohl's has no corporate ethics:
Woman finds wallet at Kohl's and is falsely accused of stealing.
This happened to a Grandmother and her Grandsons at the Kohl's store in Fayetteville Ga.
Some people believe that if the grandmother had turned the wallet into Kohl's everything would have turned out ok. According to a Georgia Police Officer just the opposite is true.
The man who claims to be a seminary student and owner of the wallet made false reports to the police and the media, it is very doubtful that he would have recanted his story if the wallet had been turned in to kohl's.
This is why I have an issue with Kohl's loss prevention personnel. They saw the complete video, they knew that the woman did not remove money from the wallet and give it to her grandsons as reported in the media.
Kohl's has more than on video camera in their stores. Why didn't they show video of the grandmother and her grandsons inside the store? Why didn't Kohl's do the right thing?

Some people have been misinformed about the responsibility of someone who comes in contact with lost or mislaid property.
The grandmother did exactly what ever decent person should do when they find a wallet, she immediately began taking reasonable measures to restore the property to the owner. Neither Joseph Smith or Kohl's Department Store was the owner of the wallet or its contents.

Georgia Code - Crimes and Offenses - Title 16, Section 16-8-6
A person commits the offense of theft of lost or mislaid property when he comes into control of property that he knows or learns to have been lost or mislaid and appropriates the property to his own use without first taking reasonable measures to restore the property to the owner.

I am agree with poster and "kohl's fraud" comments ", they want to fraud the government with their accounting, doule wammy if you understand." Yes when you return an item you have earned kohl's cash they will say to give up your real money. When you will say ok I am returning the item I have bought with kohl's cash so give me back my whole dollar amount I have spend they will say kohl's cash is not real money. Hey come on you just said that is real money we have given you so you have to pay us back now how come that was not real money. Important thing when you will return the item you have bought with kohl's cash there will not be any tax back but when you return an item you have earned Kohl's cash they will add tax to Kohl's cash. I have spend about half an hour on the phone and in store manager were agree with me I am right they are making mistake in refund amount but fro 13.20 dollars difference she asked me to call or write corporate office so they can issue me a check. She is not able to make correction to that mistake and this is our system wants us to work under these guidelines. I was just how come you guys are not talking about this issue? Why when I return an item I bought with kohl's cash no tax given to me. Where I have bought an item without any discount and at the end they give me 50 or 60 kohl's cash how come that 60 dollars being deducted from the actual price which ending up lower tax amount which is not true. I pay full amount of tax because kohl's cash is not discount for this item that was added after taxes but they don't want to understand they are making too much money. And I am surprised why non of the attorneys figured this out and never take a class action on behalf of consumers against Kohl's? I am attaching images to understand full story. Just cut the name and address for security reasons.
