Mixed Feelings About Kumon: A Review of the Math Program
Kumon ain't all that great, to be honest. I mean, sure, it might help you out a bit in the beginning, but once you hit level E, it's all just fractions from there on out. And don't even get me started on the fact that they make you write out every single step, even for simple questions like 2x+1=5. Like, come on, man, I know how to solve that in my head!
But I will say this for Kumon - it does force you to practice, practice, practice. And I guess that's not a bad thing, especially if you're struggling with a particular subject. But personally, I don't think it's worth the money. There are plenty of free resources out there that can help you just as much, if not more.
Overall, I'd say if you're really desperate for some extra help, go ahead and give Kumon a try. But don't expect it to be a miracle worker or anything. And definitely don't expect to enjoy it - because let's be real, who actually enjoys doing math homework?
Kumon Review: Too Much Drill Questions, Beestar is Better
So, I tried Kumon for my kids and I gotta say, they didn't really like it. The drill questions were just too much for them. I get that it's supposed to help them learn the basics and memorize stuff, but it was just too tiring for them. We've tried other online programs like Beestar and it's been much better for them.
Kumon Review: A Waste of Time and Money for Math Improvement
Kumon is a total waste of time, in my opinion. They don't help you at all and they put you at a lower level than what you go in for. It's like they don't even care about your progress. I remember feeling so frustrated because every time I got close to passing a level, they would send me back down to the 20s to restart. It was so repetitive and boring that I resorted to cheating on my homework just to get it over with.
But, I have to admit that Kumon did help me with my math skills. I did notice an improvement in my grades, but it wasn't worth the hassle of going to Kumon every week. Plus, I had to pay a lot of money for their services.
Thankfully, I stopped going to Kumon because band got in the way. But, if you're thinking about going to Kumon, I would suggest finding another way to improve your math skills. There are plenty of free resources online that can help you just as much, if not more, than Kumon. Don't waste your time and money on Kumon.
Beware of Kumon: My Experience with the Tutoring Service
My experience with Kumon has been pretty bad, to be honest. I enrolled my 7th grader in Kumon about a year ago, hoping that it would help him improve his grades. However, it seems like the instructor is just repeating him in 2nd grade level work. I've talked to some other parents and it seems like they've had similar experiences. I'm starting to think that Kumon is just a rip-off scam. It feels like they're intentionally making your child look dumb so that they can keep repeating the same work and keep charging you for it.
I mean, I get it. Kumon is a business and they need to make money. But it's really frustrating when you're paying for a service that doesn't seem to be helping your child at all. And it's not just the money - it's the time and effort that we're putting into this. We could be doing other things that are actually beneficial for our child's education.
Honestly, my advice would be to beware of Kumon. I don't think it's worth the money or the time. It's just a scam run by Asians (no offense to anyone, but that's just what I've observed). There are probably better options out there for tutoring and extra help with schoolwork.
Terrible Experience with Kumon: Abusive Instructor and No Support
I had a really bad experience with Kumon and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The center I went to was run by a woman named Nicole Smith and she was a total psycho. She was really abusive to both parents and students and I couldn't believe how rude and foul-mouthed she was. Whenever anyone tried to talk to her about any issues they were having with Kumon, she would just twist the conversation around and make it seem like it was their fault. It was really frustrating and I felt like I couldn't get any help or support from her.
Overall, I would say that Kumon is not a good choice for anyone who wants to learn in a positive and supportive environment. The instructor at the Hamilton Westend center, Nicole Smith, is just not a good fit for this type of work and I would advise anyone to stay away from her and this center. There are plenty of other options out there for people who want to improve their skills and learn new things, so don't waste your time or money on Kumon.
Kumon Review: Be Clear About Your Goals and Timeline to Get the Most Out of the Program
I gotta say, I enrolled my kiddo in Kumon to help her with geometry, but it didn't quite work out the way we planned. We never got the work we needed, and instead, she was stuck learning how to add figures quickly. I mean, sure, that might be helpful, but it wasn't what we were looking for, ya know? And to make matters worse, it was taking way too long to move on to more advanced stuff. I mean, I got things to do, places to be, you know how it is. So after about a year, I had to call it quits.
Now, I ain't saying Kumon is all bad. But I do think they need to do a better job of figuring out how long their clients can realistically stick with the program and what their goals are. I mean, if they did that, they could design the program with the customer in mind, you know what I'm saying? And it wouldn't hurt if they checked in with us every once in a while to see how happy we are with the service. I mean, if we ain't happy, we're gonna tell our friends, and that's gonna hurt their business.
Now, I ain't trying to throw the owner under the bus or nothing. I trusted her, and I just kinda went along with whatever she said. But looking back, I think I should have been more firm about what I wanted for my kiddo. And I bet there are a lot of other folks out there who feel the same way. I mean, it's almost impossible to find a review of Kumon, right? I had to search high and low to find this thread.
So here's my advice to you, my fellow parents: you're the client, and you're the one shelling out the cash. So be firm about what you want your money to buy. And if you got an older kiddo who's on a tight schedule, make sure you're clear about what you want them to learn and how long you're willing to stick with the program. If you do that, you might just have a better experience with Kumon than I did.

Lack of adult supervision for my 3 year old
On Feb. 12, 2024 I dropped off my 3 year old at Kumon (Canyon Country, CA) for his designated time of 6-630pm. Due to the inoperable restroom, my 3 year old was able to leave the premises and walk into a neighboring business to request to use their restroom. He was then able to walk out into the busy parking lot and approached a car that resembled his father's car before other parents contacted a supervisor at Kumon to inform them of an unattended child.
Desired outcome: Better security measures and more adult supervision

Tuition fee
My daughter started in July of 2023, but due to her summer swimming camp which was everyday, plus tae Kwon do, and piano lessons, she didn’t get enough time to always finish her homework from kumon. Honestly it was way too much homework for a 5 year old who hasn’t even started school yet. So she went the whole month of July, in august I went to the office...

Franchise manager of kumon san roque (antipolo) center :justine bethia paige c baysa
Date:July 21,2023

She scolded my son because of playing lato2 & telling him that his creating noise that was been heard inside the classroom...It was then the custody of parents when he played the lato2 outside the vicinity of the center. And my son was holding his toy for a while when she scolded him & stop him for playing, the child was upset & traumatized ,she didn't wait for me to talked but run away & left my son upset ..I knew the incident when a parent told me what she did to my son.
I am complaining to the franchise manager of Kumon (San Roque branch)because of some reasons:
-How to treat a child well
-How to talk to a child without offending
-How to talk properly & not become arrogant
-And dealing with parents well because they are customers
Desired outcome: Should not deserve to operate as a franchise manager because of being arrogant & bad reputation
Kumon - Bergenfield
The head instructor is very rude and insulting to students. Likes to mutter and verbally abuse their intelligence and speed while teaching them. Making them feel inadequate in their own work. Staff members following Desiree Powell's behavior and also having a toxic teaching atmosphere, to the point where students do not believe it's a safe environment to learn.

I wish I could give these place a -5 stats stars! ms. Dong is one of the most disrespectful, uncaring and unprofessional people I have met in my life! after the assessment on april 13, 2023 (upper eastside kumon) (which I should have walked out on) she started telling me that my son who is above his reading level needed help in math and reading. After explaining to her that I was only there for math she told me "you should not spend so much money on jewelry and instead pay for tuition!" the nerve! I still continued with the serve because my son is special needs and I really wanted to get him extra help before his state exam. Ms. Dong gave my third grade son 2+2 math even though he scored in the 90th percentile. He was supposed to come twice a week and only scheduled him for once! I tried to have conversations with her several times and even emailed her (I still have the proof of the emails) and got no response. After explaining to her that she was in breach of her contract and that her nor her high school student tutors were qualified to teach my special needs child... She got really nasty and totally ignored me and my son. She stated that I couldn't get a refund because it's a locked in program for 3 months. She does no work or shadowing of the students. My son was literally given a package of kindergarten work and told to sit for the 30 minutes. Nothing more. Such a waste of money. This place is a scam and a disgrace to the kumon brand! I even made a complaint at kumon headquarters... Nothing can be done. Except verbal warnings! this is really sad. I had to reverse my payment after 4 sessions because she refused to cancel and refund me the difference. Now i'm fighting with collections because she still wants the funds for services not rendered! unbelievable that kumon hasn't closed this place. She is a racist, very rude and uncaring; but most of all she is not teaching the children anything just sending them home with more work! please stay away. I wish I had read the reviews. Stay away from places that only want your bank account and routing number! lesson learned

Respected Sir,
I am Deep from trichy. My child was studying in Kumon Kattur Centre for the past few years. Senior Instructor N Sathya Priya who is the franchise owner is not in the centre for the past few years. Since she settled in USA from there she is running the centre. She is the only qualified staff there. Unskilled staffs are supporting here. even the Staff doesn't know what is in 3A..Correction team very very worst, they even don't know which is the correct. they all were paid with very low salary. Staff with diploma qualification are handling higher level maths and English. They are spoiling the reputation and fame of the Kumon international in South Tamilnadu.
I bring this to your kind notice and forward to your higher authorities to take necessary action and enquire the above said facts.
Kindly do the needful
Your's faithfully
Deepa
Faculty at gurgaon sector 67 and way of teaching
Faculty at sector 67 Gurgaon is very rude and is not at all ready to listen to the parents.
Upon approaching them, they start preaching you about parenting.
I dont understand on what basis and what qualification teachers hold at Kumon and specially the one who is responsible for running centre.
Teachers infact make mistakes in checking and that too quiet often.
Kumon Bahrain never returned my deposit
We were in saudi for about 6 years. Our son and daughter were both enrolled in Kumon Bahrain for about 5 years. We moved back to US last year and informed them ahead of time. I even filled the leaving form. They contacted me saying that we have some answer books with us to which I replied that I’ve returned all the answer books. I got a message from their manager saying that it’s all been taken care of. After a year, I got a message on WhatsApp, my US number saying that they’ve confiscated the deposit ($150 ) and not only this they’re asking for more money. This is absolutely unacceptable! Someone please take action against it or let me know who should I contact?
Fiona is the name of the manager. Worst experience ever!
Desired outcome: I need my deposit back. My children’s names are Abdullah Sultan Imaan Sultan
Kumon Metrotown service and their safety protocol
Kumon metrotown lack of safety protocol. They allowed a mom to come into the center Around 4:40-5:10 to pick up her son’s work. The son is having a fever of 38.4 degree, I understand it’s not the parents fault but also not other families fault. I feel if the mom can come either prior or after the rush 3:30-6:00 that would be much more safer for the students that are arriving to the center. As well, just give the work that the kid needed versus chit chatting how hard to find the right pencil for the child. As well the story how the mom has a few more of the good pencils that she found from Hong Kong and can’t find them in Canada. After that, the worker their chatted more regarding finding they type of pencil, I mean is it really necessary to chat about the time when she has a sick child at home and other kids are arriving to be checking in for their class. The answer is no. This is not all eventually the worker gave the mom a free pencil and that is like 20 min later since we knew her son is having a fever blah blah blah. Very poor system in places either forget to give my child their work ( had to make a second trip to have this sorted out, or not giving my child their answer key now I have three sets of work that I can not mark or correct with my child). KUMON recommended the student to do their work and fix their mistakes on the day of doing their work, not providing the answer key to the student to take home for their parents to mark us not helpful.( the center sent an email out stating parents should wait downstairs and not visiting the center, I followed their rule. They were not able to follow their philosophy of children doing their work, parents mark their work and children should become independent regarding bringing back their own work and receiving new work).
Desired outcome: Need this resolved, Kumon is to help my kids to advance in their academic not here to work all these unnecessary house keeping matters. It has been happening two times in one month and is not right!!!!

Teachers in Kelmscott Kumon Centre are not qualified
The teachers in Kelmscott Kumon Centre WA are not qualified. They are high school students and don't have qualified for being a teacher.
Their opening hours are short. They didn't provide the right level. They don't teach your children anything. Sending children to Kumon is not worth the money $140 a month. Please I am saying this from the bottom of my heart, do not send your child to Kumon. I would give a minus 5 if I could

Read full review of KumonComplain for Mawson Lakes Kumon, Adelaide, SA: Student has been given an answer sheet at home along with question papers to save your money and time
Dear Sir,
Good evening!
My wife has requested twice at Mawson Lakes Kumon to stop delivering answer sheets along with questions sheets. However, the staff asked her that it is Kumon policy but, a few people has not been delivered the answer sheet after complaining!
Could you please stop to give answer sheet at Kumon Mawson lakes which is beneficial for your tutor but, my kids are not learning and just copied answer from the answer sheet which is provided by your tutors. This way your Kumon can save their time and money behind your tutor but, we are wasting our money.
If you will not take any urgent actions then I have to stop the Kumon for my daughter Aashna and I need to get a full refund money and I will find suitable place for her.
I hope you will understand and look into this matter urgently and contact me on my mobile [protected] if you have any questions.
Kindly regards,
