customer care/service
Here is a fine example of how Localnet.com thinks and operates;
(1) I sent an email to localnet to cancel my acct with them...5/29/18 @7:15AM.
(2) Localnet received and processed my cancellation request...5/29/18 @8:39AM.
Note the cancellation date/time.."your account will close at the end of its current month". The current month is May 2018
(3) localnet.com sent me an email "Billing issue" on 6/7/18 @7:04AM.
The bottom line...
localnet received my request to cancel my account with them on the same day I sent out my cancellation request. Then, on June 7th 2018 localnet sent me an email with the title " BILLING ISSUE - Attention Required Dial-up ". Knowing they already sent me that email confirming my request to cancel my account with them.
THIS IS A FINE EXAMPLE OF LOCALNET.COM doing what they want to do . Localnet.com has no care or concern of what their paying customers have requested or asked for.
Below is the exact copies of the 3 emails that were sent and received by me and localnet.com.
(note.. I hid my real name and email address for my personal protection)

product and dial up service
I called local net today and got hold of a operator named Gabe. I tried to explain to him why localnet counseled my access accelerator feature 6 days before it was to expire. Gabe was very blunt rude an unprofessional when talking to me. My service with accelerator was paid up through the full month of May 2018 and then there after I downsize to regular dial up without the accelerator. On May 26th 2018 the access accelerator was cut from my dial-up even though I've already paid for it until the end of May 31st 2018. When I call localnet about this problem Gabe was very rude to me and said that there's no proof it was cancelled on the 26th through the 31st of May. I asked to talk to his supervisor he said there is no such person but I can email his manager. I asked him why isn't there anybody looking over him. Someone I can talk to directly other than him. Gabe said he has a manager but I have to email him. According to Gabe I pay for the whole month of May 2018 which takes me up to May 31st, but Gabe told me the billing cycle is actually May 28th. On all my previous monthly payments they all were paid the very last day of the month. So there's an overlap of four days that I already paid $12.95 per month then the new charge of $9.95 a month is from the 28th of May until the 30th of June. I told Gabe directly that there's something wrong that there is no way you could charge somebody money and then when there's a mistake you act like there's nothing wrong and refused to even go down the refund Road. I told Gabe I wanted to cancel my service with local net he says fine. You have to either fax email or send a letter to local net.com, I told Gabe why don't you just take my information from me right now and cancel my service. I said you had no problem taking my money and charge me monthly service or the phone. So why can't you verbally take my word and cancel my account. Keep in mind the whole time Gabe was very rude and unprofessional when dealing with this manner.
I am going to file a complaint against local net.com with the Bureau of Better Business.
People need to know about this company who is just ripping off people. They owe me at least $12 in credit back to my account but I will never see that. Like I say there's more than one way to skin a cat. Thanks to social media I am going to put the word out there about this company and hopefully more people will come forward and leave comments about how they were unfairly treated.

It also suggests that the company is organized and has taken steps to secure its online presence.
The age of LocalNet Internet Services's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.

These policies are easy to find and understand, and they are written in plain language that is accessible to all customers. However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- Website's registrar is popular among scammers, it means that a significant number of scammers have used that registrar to register domain names for their fraudulent websites. This can indicate that the registrar has lax verification processes, making it easier for scammers to register domains without providing accurate information.
- LocalNet Internet Services protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
misleading to consumers
I called looking for a new internet provider. Found LocalNet in our phone book and called. Customer service handled my call immediately since it was a "new sale" - I had alot of questions and felt like the sales person was rushing me into the purchase but did answer all of my questions in a postive way so I ordered but put it on my credit card in case I had issues later - which I did. After the call, I received instructions in my new email account on what to do next. I contacted their Technical Support and found out from the the tech person that they did not provide what I needed. I immediately called back but no one would answer my call - waited 30 minutes and then called again (same day). After waiting another 45 minutes on the phone - I finally had someone with their online chat - she was helpful but by this time I was so aggravated I just wanted my money back. She said she would note the cancellation in my account. Customer Service did finally answer and said I had to submit in writing my cancellation request but it could be sent via email from my new email account. I had to wait 30 days to request a refund - I did not receive a full refund because the service setup was non-refundable...Really - I cancelled the same day I ordered it. The customer service team is so rude and if you do need assistance - go online to their chat session. I do not recommend this company at all. They will tell you what you want to hear and then your stuck with a partial refund.

unfair billing
i signed up for localnet services 3 1/2 years ago. after i hooked up my computer, it crashed, so i didnt buy another pc and didnt worry about my Internet. of course it was dial up, so i had my house phone turned off because i had a cell phone. there was no need to keep the house phone and i didnt have a cp for Internet. of course my husband bank online, so i don't receive bank statements in the mail and i dont online bank. three months ago, my account i have set up for another bill is suddenly in the negative, of course its localnet. i called them and told them its been 3 1/2 years and i havent used their service. i now have to pay 34.95 to cancel. what happened to all the money from the past 3 1/2 years. my husband went back through all bank statements and they have been well compensated (almost 1, 000)! where is the justice!

bill for the services I never got
I was checking my bills and noticed that someone called LocalNet Corp send me a bill for the services I never got. I even don’t know who they are and never heard their name before. I called them to say that I know they are scammers, but they told I can’t prove my words and hang up.
I have never used the service and feel that they owe me a refund
I asked for this so-called account to be canceled because I never subscribed to it anyway but I am still being charged for it. I considered using their service at one time and filled out the information on the internet but I never confirmed it or even entered it. Somehow they got it and started charging me.
In April I called and asked that it be canceled but they continue to charge for it. I have never used the service and feel that they owe me a refund.
You really need to start thinking before you speak or type. You say you filled out the information and then right after say you never entered it in. That's called contradicting yourself. Also, if you never confirmed the info or anything like that, then how did we get all your information? Once again, you are not making sense. Also if you listen when you call in (you clearly don't) you would know that calling in doesn't close out your account, you need to send in a cancel letter. So you're dumb.
i had call for te internet service cause i had got a home phone. so i paid 2o something for the fee.so when i call to hae it setup they told me that i couldnt set it up because i didnt have alandline phone and the guy told me to call localnet back ad tell them some the can refund me my money back cause i cant usethat iternet service.so how can they keep chargen for something that im not useing. my account no. is 75467 and username is mcmury5. i just wont my money put back on my card today cause i dot have money to justgive away like that. you all are just rip off.
refund
I could not get a refund for services, that were never received. I contacted Localnet many times and was told that the review board said I wasn't entitled even though they could not hook me up because all I had was a cell phone and not a land line. They owe me $24.95 and I would like it returned, I gave them my information in good faith and they did not come through with the service even though the sales rep Miss Melanie said was okay. I feel they are taking advantage of snowbirds and it is a very fraudulent practice.
Please help! Thank you
rip off without refund
I signed on with local net and was excited about only paying $9.95 a month and a fifteen dollar startup fee. The service was so slow that I could not get anything up online and when i spoke with lothe fact that their advertisement calnet they said Dell needed to do my installs and the service would become faster. Dell could not even do my basic installs due to the crappiness of Localnet service so I either had to cancel or not get to use my brand new laptop. I had to cancel! When I did Localnet refused to give me my money back and even said that the fact that their advertisement read RELIABLE FAST INTERNET, was irelivent and they were only responsible for providing an acess code to get online. Hello! If they can't guarantee fast reliable internet then they should not promise it through advertisement. I got ripped off and treated very poorly as that is how they oppperate. Sometimes paying a few dollars more is worth it. I now have qwest and they are great! Sorry localnet, but people need to be warned!
Jabbinsky, I don't blame you. This company was very rude to me and my boyfriend. They hung up on us so many times. I was looking for internet service cause we live out in the country. Well they told me about this 12.99 for fast internet. So I was like okay. Well the woman told me I can make a account with a credit card and they would hold it for me without no fee. So I was like okay hold it for a month if you can. The woman said okay. So I gave her the credit card number. Not a week goes by and they charged me 24.99. I asked her before I gave information. Will this charge me? She said no, not until you say okay for the account that you want it. So I was like cool.
Well I was pissed. I called up asking why I was charged. The guy on the other side had the rudest attitude and hung up on me. So I called my boyfriend. They hung up on him. Wouldn't give us the money back. So we contacted the capital one and they are in the process of getting some of our money back. Well me and my boyfriend are gonna get a legal letter and send it to them. To cancel you had to write a letter, send a e-mail or other stupid crap. So I looked up the e-mail sent them a e-mail and they canceled it. Never again. I hope people think twice reading our complaints before going with Localnet.
of course its slow speed, what did you expect from dialup?
You get what you pay for.
worse company ever
Canceled service 3 years ago, however they insisted that we switch to keep our email address which we were charged for yearly apparently, then 3 years after cancellation we get a letter for demand of payment, , , not a bill or anything, , , a demand of payment for $20 dollars, it was 2.47 for email address and 16 dollars for our credit card cancelation 4 times. yes they charge you 3 dollars everytime your credit card is declined. why was it declined because it had expired! are you telling me they couldnt tell the date was expired when they were punching it in? This is THE WORSE BUSINESS EVER if your considering using them i suggest taking your money and burning it, youll have a lot more fun and a better time with it that way!
bad service
I canceled Localnet 2 months ago and got another internet provider.Everything was going good untill they sent me a letter about updating my account. So I went online to talk to somebody and they did not help me.The person I wrote to said he could not cancel my account because I was suppose to call, even though the guy was from customer service. Then about three weeks later I got another letter about the same updating problem. So this time I called localnet. The person on there said that he did disconnect the service (so I thought). Then 2 weeks later I got another call saying that I needed to pay for their service and then today I got a letter of demand saying that if I did not pay that they would take me to a commercial court. The thing about that is the court is located in New York and I live in Califorina, so basically they got me over a barrel. The cost they want me to pay though is unbelievable. They wanted me to pay $31.90.They charged me $12.00 for decline fees which I think is just downright stupid. So if you are getting any internet provider DO NOT GET LOCALNET.Just because the price is right, doesn't mean the service is.

local-net used to be a reputable business till those certain few who work the phones got hired now the only think to "Get the money", get the money. We know who they are !
I think all the complaints are right and I think that I might be the next one to fall victim to their schemes.I closed the service over the phone and now they said, by postcard, that they are activating the service.I said"I don't want the service, I won't use the service.I've paid for the service that I did use".Now it's 6mts later and I suspect they will try to do what ever they do to create a problem for me.These people who work for such a disreputable business will try anything to get money out of their victims. What they don't realize is we can find out who they are and have them investigated for the bad practices they are using.Local-net does not want these lowlife's working for that business.
scam
Yesterday I signed up for localnet..the lady never said that it was a dial up company..she also said the I could cancel @ anytime... I found out from the tech that I needed a part to make it work which cost from 20-50 dollars..When I called back to cancel it after being on hold for 2hrs..the lady informs me that they have already charged my account and the only way for me to get my money back is for me to submitt a letter...in the later I have to say that I want my money back... from there a team will review it and decide if that are going to give it back...
never get localnet
I was a custumer with localnet but i never will be again.I revived a notification from localnet telling me that my account with them was closing because they no longer had accees to my bank account and that was find with me cause i was out of work at that time. Then i recived a latter two months later telling me that i own them this crazy amount they charge me 4 times in 2 months 4 a decline fee so i called to find out how to fix this an lower this fee because i feel that i should not of been charge if i had no accees to the internet. Let me say the man who took my call was a complete (JURK)he was mean an could careless about me or my business at one pont he had me crying an all upset he was telling me that in no way could he lower my payment an its not his problem thats life i asked him if i could talk to someone higher then him an he just keep telling me that he was the highest then he humg up on me. I will keep telling my family my friend never get localnet.
I had tried LocalNet awhile ago, and found it to be the slowest site I had ever used. When I first signed up, I was told that LocalNet was 10X faster then dial up, which I found to be a total lie. After one day only, I called to cancel, after being informed that I could cancel within 30 days. I was told I couldn't' cancel by phone, and was given a link to go to, which I did. It turns out that it was the wrong link to cancel, and was given another link. After being given the runaround, I cancelled my credit card, and applied for a new one. My credit card company credited me back $24.99 for the first month subscription. I did notify the Attorney General about the unscrupulous practices of this company, and mentioned that they should not be in business. If you see this name anywhere, run, don't walk away from this company. They are nothing but a bunch of thieves taking advantage of working people.
fraud
In Jan/Feb of this year (2011) I contacted LocalNet about the possibility of using them for my ISP. I was having trouble with my long time ISP, PittsburghConnect, and was thinking about making a change. I asked about payinfg for a year at a time and doing a debit on my bank account. They said they could do that. There was NO definite comittment, just a possible start date of no earlier than the first part of April, and that I would call them as soon as I made a decision and as to when to begin service.
Then my 11 year old computer quit and it was going to cost over $100 to fix it, and at this same time, I had 2 elderly family members die and I had to pay funeral expenses for BOTH - $12, 000! Well, I don't have that kind of money just hanging around in my bank account, and funerals come before a new computer. So I called LocalNet on March 8th - in plenty of time, and told them what happened and that I did not have a computer so I did not need their service, and it would be a LONG time before I would be able to buy another one, and to either Cancel the order OR postpone it INDEFINITELY.
They said I could call them when I was ready. I also said that the startup disc they were going to send me, they could just forget about that - NOT to send it, since without a computer, I would NOT need it. Then the lady, says, "Oh, we'll send it right out to you today!" I said that I just told her that I did not have a computer and NOT to send it - and she said, "okay".
Well, they tried to bill me for a whole YEAR and there was not enough in my account - so they charged me another $35 and then tried again to get the money, and then added another fee! I got my bank statement and BOY was I MAD! They claim the account began on April 1st and I owed it! I reminded them I had cancelled!
They said I did not send a CANCELLATION LETTER! They never said they needed a LETTER! So I sent a letter in May, and then I got my bank statement yesterday (June 2)and they billed me $33.94 and said that was for cancelling service - I only had a POTENTIAL ORDER - I never had SERVICE, so how could I cancel something I never had? And with NO computer, and NO Start Up Disc, how could I have ANY service? They claimed my call on March 8th just put off my order until April 8th - they said they could not suspend the order more than 30 days. Well I had told them to either CANCEL it OR put it off INDEFINITELY - I never agreed to just a 30 day deferral . . And no LETTER was ever mentioned.
This is a scam Company - and they will sck every penny out of you that they can! Run from them!

Checked my bank to see 47.50 had been taken from the loan centre.net checked it out with my bank who said it was also a company called cornwall collections tried contacting them a number of times answered the phone once only to be cut off this is one big scam stay away ive had no loan the only way to stop this is by closing my bank account i dont hold much chance of a refund total rip off!
cancel service and still being charge total rip off
I was told that I could get the internet without having a home phone but turns out you have to have a home phone. I tried to cancel my service but they told me I had to do it by email, fax of send a letter by mail. I email to company and the company still was taking money out of my account each. I found out about this and call to see what the reason was for this and they tell me that I called customer service and left the email there to cancel my service but I was suppose to email the cancellation department but I wasn't told that at first. I have been getting ripped off for four months now ans I think something needs to be done about this Localnet company. I see that people are having the same complaint about this company so I know this is how they are treating their customers. Sad but true this is bad business for everybody.

Business dealings not good!
I cancel my service with Localnet a few months ago and I was bill just today. I would like to be refund and stop being bill for a service I don't have. Thanks.
stole $167 for services that were not wanted or ever used
first of april i called to check on services for an internet provider and called local net i gave them my credit /debit card number so i could speak with someone about the details and the lady sais i had to give it to her in order to proceed so i did and when i moved on past her i talked to a man about services and he said they were not wireless providers so i told him i did not want services so he reconnected me to customer service and she refused to let me speak with a manager or give me corporate number all i want is my money back because i never set up an account or used it for that matter and to tell the public how wrong i was treated and it appears there are many of the same complaints

cancellation
Set up internet only to find out you had to have a home phone. While still on orginal call, sent back to customer service, could not cancel except by mail/fax or from the email they already had set up without a home phone. I cancelled same day by email and they still took out money and cost me overdraft fee. I have been on hold for a total of 4...

this company needs to be put out of business, we used the service for a week and then we cancelled, then i noticed my credit card was still being charged, my husband made 3 calls to them over a period of 2 months telling them to cancel service, we did what they asked, sent them letter to cancel because they told us they could not cancel over the phone, kinda funny that they can start your service over the phone but can not cancel over the phone, they still refuse to cancel, so the only option i had to do was to cancel the credit card that they were charging month after month. So everyone needs to be aware that this is a scam to get more $$ for a service you are not using..
unfair charges
I cancelled my localnet service back in April of this year. I was not charged for May or June. I received my bank statement for July and August and they had started charging me again. I did everything they asked me to do to cancel my service back in April but now they are saying I never cancelled my service. They say I called in June but never sent a fax or...

I canceled from LocalNet in December on their web site / my account. They keep charging me now for 4 months after the fact! I have talked and faxed them 3/4 altogether and STILL they tell me they know nothing of my canceling! PLUS, their numbers don't even add up! They charged one amount on my credit card and in their letter to me they are charging a different amount and adding some crazy demand fee. Are they going to ruin my credit now over $21.00.. I didn't use their service. I hated their service. I don't want their service. I shouldn't have to pay for what I don't have!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
DO NOT GIVE CC NO. use debit, that is the only reason we did not get ripped off. We paid for what we used but they want more +letters. keep you posted.
After using Localnet for a year I decided to cancel my service. So they did cancel me but then the next month More money was being taken out of my account. I called and they said I actually had 2 accounts! So I went through the process of voiding my account, the one I never knew about.
The next month still more charges are applied to my checking so I called fuming but not swearing. The guy was an ### and defended the company. He then put me on hold and came back with a better attitude saying he would close my account and return my money into my account.
This month More money has been taken out of my account! This internet service really is just a scam!
