Unauthorized insurance charges
one of your customer representative called me and offered an insurance. I told her that I dont want to avail it coz I have my other insurance so no need to avail it in Mashreq. And then last month I just noticed that they are deducting insurance charges which I didnt avail any of these insurances and to realized that Mashreq already deducted 3 months from my savings. I would like to retrieve my money since I didnt authorized or enrolled any of the offer for insurance. I am really disappointed.I also feel bad because I keep on calling your landline to but its realy hard to get into the line. I am living out of the city so I can only do phone conversation to complaint. Please do something regarding this matter. You can check all any phone conversation to assure that I didnt enroll any insurance offer. i hope for your urgent response. Thank you
Depositing in bank machines
I deposit our sales in dubai outsource branch in bank deposits machine...when i deposit the money the screen came unable to process and money is rejected..ive been waiting to come out the money or the receipt but neither of the two didnt came out..i waited there for almost an hour for somebody to come and fix it until they told me to call the customer.service..she told me that it will be process for 2-3 working days but until now no feedback from your bank..what kind of services do you have..my company called me and asked me about it..how will i explain it to them..tell me..?
Unauthorized credit card charges
Worst customer service and behavior of the executives. I got a AED 1000 charge on my credit card for pay protect. I wasn't even informed about this when I took the service. Now, they are not reversing and forcing me to pay.
Highly dis-appointing and I would never deal with Mashreq ever again. I'll tell everyone I know to stop dealing with Mashreq.

My complaint is that they deactivate my credit card without noticed. Then i called mr. Farhan from customer service- [protected], he said the reason was i dont have a job and he was forcing me to give salary transfer. I resigned from my job because i need to transfer to another company, but still i pay regularly from all my debts.. i told farhan that i will give what he needs once my new visa from my work came. I was a customer of mashreq for 5 years and i didnt give any problem about any payment.. it happened that i will transfer to new company and i cannot provide for the time being what mr farhan is requiring me to give... please give me feedback as soon as possible. Personal loan
I apply for personal loan for my wedding 2 months ago as per Mr. Victor who was dealing with me all will be fast and easy. I transfer my salary and give all required documents to the bank Victor said all good. Later after I ask for updates he reply was the company is not listed with the Mahsreq bank and it mean he requred additional documents to list the company . I contacted my collegues from HR and they said all good let the bank ask for the documents we will send all to them.I provide all detailsto Victor even mobile number of the person dealing ith this documents in HR of the company i am workinh with. Victor continue saying to me that all in process for one more month after that he inform that the company i am woking for can not provide all the requred douments. I contacted my company they never receive any call from the bank with the list of requred document. I took the list of documents from Vicktor and send it to my company. I am really shocked that Victor was lying to me for one month that all in process when he didnt even ask my company for documents.I think i know more about job of Victor then he does. I will not get personal loan on time for my wedding and i could just use any other bank !
Credit cards
I was charged 70 DHS in January 2016 by a hotel i stayed in for the holidays. Normally you are requested to drop your credit card information in case there's been any damages to hotel property or incurred any charges after you have left the hotel. I used my Mashreq Credit Card for this and it has been my biggest regret.
1. When 70 DHS was deducted i was not notified in any form (Not text, not email and not by statements they claimed to have posted)
2. Month of February came and passed still no notifications of any sort. and that continues for March as well.
3. In April, Collections team from the bank calls and say i have to make only 155 DHS payment. Even after i asked him clearly "is this all i am to pay to clear my debt as I have also noticed that the bank has cancelled my card". He replied "Yes".
4. I finally get a statement in June saying I was to pay 509.3 DHS not 155 DHS. I called to ask if this was a mistake but anytime i call it says "you no longer have any account with this bank" and then it continues to take me round in circles when all i want to do is speak with bank representative. After a very long time i am finally connected to a collections person who very rudely says i should pay the money and that because my card has been cancelled i can't be charged again. In other words i can pay up this 509.3 DHS whenever i want to.
5. Unhappily i agree to pay this amount.
6. On July 12th comes a MIRACLE apparently Mashreq sent me not just my first e-statement but also my first text message notification telling me of new amount i owe the bank which is now 782.92 DHS.
7. Now i beg you to remember that this all started from 70 DHS.
8. Other banks take late fee charges none as much as 395 DHS for a normal card with little to no privileges.
I am sure in response you will find some small statement that says that it is in the bank's discretion "blah, blah blah" but all i can ask is:
Is this fair? lets even imagine that I couldn't pay 70 DHS would I now be able to pay 782.92 DHS after a few months? so if God forbid i had lost my life after a few years Mashreq bank would come meet my kids or grand kids and claim something like 1 million DHS right? Because this is all humanly fair and right? and don't quote me any legal tiny scribbles and policies hidden behind some document somewhere. If they are obliged to cancel the card after a month or 2 they should also be obliged to stop charging late repayment after a few months.
All this is called taking money you didn't work for I judge only their consciences. I can't show you text messages, emails any other sort of correspondence because i don't have any from Mashreq bank except the one time they sent requesting i pay 782.92 DHS.
All this is modern thievery. And then we ask where all the wickedness in the world came from? i say Mashreq bank..total frauds!
Credit card (novo card) activated without my knowledge

My name is rishi and I applied for mashreq credit card with a guy named irfan. I have given all the documents as requested. I have received my card after a long wait of 1 month since the executive want to achieve the target for that particular month. So he hold the application for 1 month and process the card the next month. But the issue was not that.
I was offered 2 cards
(1) smart saver card
(2) novo cinema card
I clearly told the executive that I dont need the novo card since its chargeable, if activated. But the executive forced me to take the card stating its a complementary card and no need to activate it. So I got the card along with the smart saver card and I have kept the novo card without opening the kit. I have activated my smart saver card after receiving it and after one week, I have called the mashreq customer care to deactivate the credit shield insurance on my smart saver card, that time I came to know that both my card got activated. I was shocked to hear that I have not even open the novo card kit and without my knowledge, the card has been activated. From that day onward I have registered complaints and told them to cancel the card and dont want to get charged on this and I have follow up several times and the only answer I am getting is it is under process and they will send a mail to concerned department and will get a call within 24 hrs.. Till this date its almost 2 or 3 weeks and no one has taken any action on this and its me who is going to get charged on this card for which I have not activated. Every time when I call their customer care I receive a mail from them like below

This is the thrid time I am getting this message for the complaint registered and no one has contacted me on this. I have begged, I have shouted and did everything from my side to stop this and no one is hearing. This bank want to eat the money so they are dragging the issue till the bill get generated so that it can be put on my heard..
Please do something on this to stop this bill being generated and for the cancellation of the card

Unethical behaviour
I have a business banking account open with Mashreq. I I deposited some cheques the teller manager had a rude attitude and implied he was doing me a favour accepting the cheques as some of these had small variations.(Cheques with these exact same variations had been accepted in the past and is routinely done so as was confirmed by the Relationship Manager)
The Bank Teller Manager promised me infront of the tellers that the cheques would be processed without any problems from his side. Later I was cheques had been rejected. A Ms. Divya from your bank has told me it was at the discretion of this Bank Teller Manager that these cheques were rejected. This person promised something and lied about it.
Mashreq has refused to reconsider their decision despite having accepted exactly the same variations multiple times in the past. On top of this they are refusing to hand over the cheques to my representative while I am outside the country each time coming up with a different reason despite my having couriered them an original letter as part of their procedure to do the same.
This is the worst experience I have had with any organization. I will avoid banking with Mashreq in the future.
Harassment of customer
Details of customer complaint
My complaint ref 4051187 dated 21 feb 2014 regarding non receipt of monthly statement, which was registered and was informed that they will get back to me in 2 days.
After which I did not bother to follow up. But to my surprise after 2 months, on 15th of april I received a statement with a previous balance of 839 aed and after adding the charges for that month the total due for april was1146.87 aed.
I called up to get a feedback and was advised that I had been charged late payment charges for nonpayment of 0.16 aed. I requested to reverse the charges as it is a system generated error and should be reversed as I had not received the earlier statements. I was advised that it is a system error and a request to reverse the charges shall be put in place, which of course was not done.
After continuous follow up I received responses such as
1. We will get back to you,
2. We will sort out the matter,
3. Your complaint has been transferred to collections dept.
4. We have not allocated any agent yet to your case.
5. We will get back to you.
And thereafter have been receiving monthly statements which includes the late payments for every month. At present in aug 2015 it has amounted to aed 2616.98.
I have sent numerous emails, reminders to collections dept but nobody has bothered to respond.
This calls for harassment of customer and have requested to reverse all the charges levied.
Dubious behavior - silently/secretly deducting fees/charges
Mashreq Islamic Bank has been silently/secretly deducting fees/charges from the bank account without informing their customers.
I noticed this only in the month of Aug-2015; I was charged every month starting May without any notification via sms, email, postal mail or call. By the time, I noticed it; around AED 1650 were silently deducted from my account over false pretext.
On reporting the issue with the customer care; I was informed that my trade license was not updated in the Bank Records therefore I am being charged in this manner. I told them that I had already submitted it in the Qusais Branch in Feb-2015 and they must have forgotten to file it. They took down my complaint (Ref#: 4544507-Q0L5J0) and promised to resolve it within 24 hours; however, I have not heard from them ever since.
I went back to the same branch to file my Trade License again. I told them that I had submitted the same in Feb-2015. I was told that may be the representative forgot to file it as she might not have known the process to file "Fujairah Trade License".
Both the Executive at the Bank & at the Customer Care, had no answer to my repeated question, of why the bank was "silently" deducting charges without informing me; as I was never told about the missing Trade License which "they" had forgot to file, in the first place.
I was told that they would take it as a feedback; That is all!
Now, I can do nothing else but to wait patiently hoping that someone would be earnest enough to revert the bank charges.
Also, I think they should remove the word "Islamic" from the name; as there is nothing Islamic about this bank. They are just giving it a bad name.
This is not a new complain agsint them. They are always charging / deducting a mount like that.
Cash withdrawal machine
I have put 13700 egp into the machine today morning (masreq bank, abbas alaqqad branch), but the receipt received indicated only 11700 egp. Nither the bank branch nor the call center could help. The branch says they have no access to the machine and the call center says the same!
It is really ridiculous. I do not know what to do?
Poor service
I have been trying to cancel my credit card for more than 2 weeks. Everytime I phone or email they respond to me that they will contact me in 2 days. I have been phoning them everyday and the same story. I will be leaving Qatar, And because of their bad service I will be blocked from leaving this country unless my account has been closed. I cant close my account if my credit card is not cancelled. And they fail to respond. Ive had so many complaints about this bank. First the Lady forgot to hand in my bank loan papers and after waiting 4 months I finally received it and paid it off in less than 6 months. I requested for a NOC to show that my bank loan has been paid off, Still I am Waiting 2 months later. Due to them I will be treated as a criminal at the airport, And my company will not be able to pay out my Graduity. Ive sent emails to their higher management, customer care and no action, only repond that they will contact me in 2 days. But its never happening. Worst bank that I have delt with ever. Should rather have joint Commercial bank or something else.
I am ongoing thru such experience from last one week.
The worst bank i ever seen in my life
I would 100% agree that the Mashreq bank is the most worst bank ever because of the employees that are working with this bank. Staffs are the one who gives a bad reputation to the name of the bank. They have poor services and bad/impolite employees (specially in collection department). Trust me, once you open an account to this bank, your life will became hell and miserable. For further information's kindly google the reviews and you will be shocked from the negative comments and/or complaints from the people who had a bad experienced from this bank including me.
First, they will give you promising offer and but once you are in..they will give your life a hard time until your career will be a disaster. This is a lesson learned for me. Remember to investigate first before you proceed to your plans.
Fake outstanding payment
I have exited from Qatar on March 15, 2012 and moved to Canada. I was using mashreq credit card when I was in Qatar. I have paid all the outstanding payment on March 13, 2012. My parents in India got a call from a collection agent named Iqbal stating that I have an outstanding payment of 3008.16. I was able to login to Mashreq account and the account summary was showing a balance of QAR 0. I asked for more information from the collection agency which they are not providing me. Only details they are providing me is the credit card number and outstanding amount. Do I dont have the right to get the proof from the collection agency about my outstanding payment. I send an email to mashreq customer care, but no reply

Disturbing by calling again and again
I am getting lot of calls from Mashreq Bank credit card department for getting a card. I have told many times that I am not interested, but still I have got about 8 to 10 calls. And I am getting every week by someone from Mashreq bank. I am really upset about such calls, when I have already told that I am not interested then why you guys call again and again. Today again a lady Sara called from Mashreq bank.

Bearer cheque denied payment
On 28 June 2014, I visited Mashreq Bank, C Ring Road branch in Doha to encash a bearer cheque issued by my wife in my favour. The cheuqe was issued as “Pay self or bearer” and was signed on the back side by the account holder, which the teller refused to pay saying that it’s a self cheque and the account holder herself has to come to get the cash. Later I talked to the account officer Mr. Mohammed Riaz who repeated the same thing what the teller told.
Banking rule all over the world is that a self or bearer cheque is as good as a bearer cheque and on endorsement and delivery, the holder of the cheque is having title over the instrument. This is not the first time we are encashing such cheques and I was surprised by the explanation given by Mr. Mohammed Riaz.
Tellers and officers are the face of the Bank. My humble request is that ignorant officers without proper knowledge of banking should not be given such responsible tasks, as they will only chase away potential customers of the Bank. Hope the Management will look into this matter.

Personal loan
I am Siva, I have taken a personal loan from Mashreqbank. I pay the EMI regularly without any delay. Now a days I have changed my job. Due to my job change they have blocked my account. I could not able to withdraw cash or unable to process any cheques. I have visited the collection department and explained them I will pay from my new company. They did not listen my words. Unfortunately my company is not listed in their approved list. They were insisting me a guarantee letter or settle the entire loan at the same time. Already my account has been screwed up. Why should put another person life also in puzzle. I started paying manually. I visits the branches and depositing directly into my loan account. One fine day they told me, you cannot pay like this. Visit collection department and settle there.
Here what is the sin I have done. The bank creating so much trouble to me. Who has time to visit and visit to the bank. I dont know any solution for me. Still I have to pay 1 year More...

sir I recently take more etisalat credit card from mashreq bank I ask about offer of jtex, they told me if u purchase 1500dhm from jamboo, emax, jackis also some out let u will get 12 month installment facility. I 10 times ask them before purchase they told same thing, they all are banking advisor they r connected by customer care no, these people are mr aulid, omar, imran and some I can't remember. finally I purchase one laptop on last friday that is 5th october which cost 1999dhms, now our customer care people telling u r declined from the offer because u didnt purchase 2000dhms from jumboo I told why u told earlier 1500dhm should be minimum purchase, now telling sorry sir for jumboo it is 2000dhms so u have to pay with in due date, this type of treatment I got from mashreq credit card section, so I request them dont put customer in dark side, I dont know what I do, I will pay and return my card may be after payment.

Dear Mashreq friends,
There is one offer going on in mashreq for 6months intrest free Balance transfer with 1% processing fees. Third party agents are calling and they will never tell you the hidden facts unless you ask them. If you have any outstanding balance never use this facility unless you clear all the debts. If you have an outstanding and you take the balance transfer facility what ever you pay only 5% will go to the outstanding. That means you can never close the outstanding unless you close the transfer. Also if you have taken the BT facility never use the card for any purchases. Huge interest is avaiting for you.
I have an outstanding of 1000 and i taken the transfer of 4000 once and after one month again they called and given 4000dhs . So still i have 1000 to pay and they are calling me for this facility. second time also they never mentioned on the trap waiting for me. i used the card for paying dewa and my total outstanding was 2000. I paid the 2000Dhs to settle the outstanding. On my next bill only i came to know that all this cheating is going on. what ever i paid gone to the BT only.Out of 2000 i paid only 50dhs gone to my outstanding and 1950 gone to BT facility which i have a due date upto October.
So let me ask friends what is the use of this facility. Why do they call me for this facility if i have an outstanding. If have, atleast they should suggest us to close the outstanding before balance transfer and not use the card for any purchases also. Am i right.
So i came into a big trouble like i have to pay the full 8000 dhs befor my coming due date. so what is my benefit for this facility. I have to pay allmost 600Dhs as retail interest for the 2000dhs outstanding if not settle the 8000balance in this month. ie's just 20days after taking the BT facility which has a due date upto Feb2013 inorder to avoid the interest.
So i'm asking mashreq,
dont you have any value to the customer.Why you people cant suggest the customer to please clear you outstanding before applying the balance transfer. Dont use you card untill this balance transfer program settles. This is the simple way to tell the customer. Or why do you select the customers who have an outstanding for this program, All other banks tells me like this on their programs. After registering the complaint a guy called me and while on conversation he told me its your responsibility to ask.
any way i could help 3 of my colleagues before getting in to the trap.

Non credit of salaam points
Mashreq is obliged to immediately credit Salaam points for every spend. However, inspite of spending nearly AED 4000 since the past one month (28th April) I have not been credited with a single point. Numerous telephone complaints have yielded no results (Complaint Ref. No. 1757927-5PFRX9). It is very disgusting and disappointing to keep calling the customer care centre and only get a promise of action within the day. I am hoping by way of this complaint, some action will be initiated.
