As an ex Therapist who was severely underpaid.
I have worked at 2 of these places. As a Therapist we are underpaid. They tier us up to get a raise, it had nothing to do with education or experience it has to do with our request rate and how long we have been working for the company. The raise comes from the customer not the business. You pay more and we get more. Our start out pay is not good for the physical work that we do and the customers since they have a membership sometimes don't even tip. It's like working at a fast food restaurant. You clock in sometimes do 6 massages clock put and go home over worked and physically exhausted. Please remember this when you book your appointments.
Recommendation: I would recommend going to a privately owned massage practice.

Terrible customer service, did not receive services paid for, unsatisfied long-term customer
Would not recommend this place, perhaps go to another location besides Brookhaven. There has been a lot of turnover and new management in place recently and lots of miscommunication happening due to that. I had a membership with Massage Heights for years and schedule my appointments in advance to use my credits accordingly, yet was still charged for...
Read full review of Massage Heights FranchisingBedford NH location seems closed, but still charging us money for the service…
The Bedford NH location is closed every day with no one at the local storefront. No one even bother calling us to tell us the location is closed. To date, they are still billing my credit card for membership service. Tried calling corporate and no one picks up either. Their message redirects us to call the local servicing franchise. Leave a message at the local franchise voice mailbox for 3 weeks now, no one calls back.
Desired outcome: Would like a membership refund for all the months that we didn’t receive service. We also prepaid a lot of money for gift cards and would need this to be refunded as well
Gift card bought
Business closed. My husband paid $194.97 12/19/18. I tried to call and use it last year only to find out the business abruptly closed.
I am sure there are other customers with the same issue as well as a lawsuit over the business going bankrupt.
I have receipt and gift cards to prove they purchase.
Desired outcome: 194.97

Unethical Behavior, unauthorized credit card charges - told to cancel
I have been trying and trying to cancel my membership since April. I moved out of state fleeing an abusive relationship with my kids. No one will return my calls, my emails result in nothing but them telling me to submit a bill of which I do not have any bc I am house to house right now. I have lost $300.00 and counting which when you have no income...

As long time clients almost a decade, we informed staff at Massage Heights 4st at our last 90min couples massage back in Feb (pre pandemic) that we are moving out of Calgary and will need to cancel our membership and have our file deleted. We sent cancellation email and phone calls to follow up but no reply from the manager Leanne.
6 months have passed and our cancellation request and refunds has still not been processed.
I am beyond frustrated as I have not received any customer care or due diligence regarding request for cancellation and refund yet I am still receiving calls and automated text messages to book.
It's a huge privacy breech that our credit card is still on file and being charged while requests to have it deleted has fallen on deaf ears.
As long time clients we have lost trust in massage heights and expect this issue to be investigated or other routes will be taken if this is not solved.
gift cards
We purchased a gift card promotion during December 2019. At the time of the purchase, I was told i was paying for 3 - one hour massages and I would get a fourth one free. Today 1/21/2020 I am trying to make an appointment for a massage and i am now being told that since I was a former member the massage will not be $60.00 like i was led to believe but it...

I purchased two products following my facial on Thursday, 3 Oct: Dermatologica Intensive Moisture Balance and the Solar Defense Booster. Soon after, I experience facial redness and a burning sensation across muy checks. I discontinued using the products and contacted the salon on Tuesday, 8 Oct to request a refund. I don't want a salon credit, I want a full refund on the purchase of the products only.
I was told that the Asst Mgr would be into work at 2 pm that day and would contact me. I never heard from anyone. I called this morning and was told that they are working on the issue, but have no idea when it will be resolved or when someone will call me.
I told them that someone needs to address this issue by COB, Monday, 14 Oct or I would continue my credit card company and dispute the charge. I also contact Massage Heights via email as that is the only way you can contact corporate. I would like this issue resolved as soon as possible.
cancellation policy
Hello, I have been a member of massage Heights for almost a year now. Last month I couldn't make it to my appointment because I was at the Emergency Room. My sister called for me (because I was in so much pain and at the hospital you don't get much signal) to cancel. I called one week later just to make sure that I didn't get charged, which I did. I...

Massage Heights Franchising sold me a franchise and mislead me every step of the way! They show you only the numbers they want you to see, they do not list all locations on their performance data! I feel just as lied to and cheated as everyone of the clients. Unfortunately I am out hundreds of thousands of dollars and we may never recover from this devastating disaster. Buyer beware, please do you due diligence!
membership cancellation
This place is a scam! When my husband and I first time went there, they were trying to push this membership to us at their close time. The whole process was rush and the front desk lady just gave us the forms and let us sign. When we got home with the copies, I found it says 12-month selection, but they never told us there are any other options! Four months later, I found myself pregnant. I called them and ask for cancellation because I don't want them to charge me every month while I am not be able to use the service. It's a lot of money for two people and I want to save them for my doctor visits. Out of my expectation, they refused to cancel our memberships! We used to go to another massage called Sandlewood, they never had an agreement with a locked time. We were able to cancel our membership anytime. However the massage heights is trying to charge the money more than anything. Even when I told them i'm pregnant! They even charged us the next month from a credit card that we never authorized to them! The massage heights make us extremely uncomfortable with their terrible management. Their goal is not make their clients feel relaxed, it's charging, charging, and charging! I am going to call the consumer protection agency and find a legal action on this. And they are going to lose us and our friends as their clients forever.
I know this is an old complaint, but I feel compelled to comment...
Massage Heights is NOT a scam and has NEVER been a scam! I have worked for Massage Heights for over 13 years, and I am sick and tired of consumers trying to put the blame on the business and their ETHICAL practices. NOTHING, absolutely nothing about the way Massage Heights runs their business model is unethical.
The problem is that people don't pay attention to what they are getting into and only listen to what they want to hear when the salesperson is giving the run-down of the agreement terms. The membership agreement clearly states the term of the membership, the auto-renew policy, the certain instances/reasons when you can cancel your membership prior to fulfilling your 3-, 6- or 12-month agreement, and how to go about cancelling AFTER your term is fulfilled.
Unfortunately, being pregnant isn't one of the reasons you can cancel, unless you can present medical proof provided by a physician. You can freeze your membership and have the $10.00 monthly freeze fee charged to you monthly for up to 6 months per year; And even though you freeze, you still must fulfill those months that you were frozen. Honestly, the only time you should not be getting a massage, if you are pregnant, is within your first trimester or if you have any pre-existing conditions.
When you sign an agreement, you should be educated enough to understand what you are signing. Everything is laid out in black and white. The problem is that people do not understand the benefits and the discounted pricing that goes with having a membership. When you sign the agreement, you are agreeing to the terms of said agreement AND you are also authorizing the credit card/debit card to be debited as agreed upon.
misleading sales techniques.
My wife and i were lead to believe, if we signed up as a couple for 1 yr, total cost would be $64. i started to notice we were billed for each person, not a couple. i requested to have our membership cancelled last month based on misleading sales tactics and poorly trained employees selling memberships. i talked to a manager 2x last month explaining that i can buy a 1 hr massage for less on groupon.manager stated that the benefit is my masseuse will get to now our body better. i stated i have never had the same person twice, even when assured that that masseuse will be performing my massage.i requested an owner call me, nothing.today i am negative in my checking account for $128 plus $72 in overdraft fees.i decided to call them today.Gigi said someone will call me.checked customer reviews..WHOAAAA. i would have never signed up if i saw the reviews.Sixto and Conny Torres. Elyria, ohio. fairview park, ohio, massage Heights location.
my wife and i were told it was $64 per couple, not per person. called several times to cancell and explained why.let manager know that the verbage led us to belive per couple. attemted to talk to an owner. 1 month later, no call.today i see $129 withdrawn.this put me in a neg w/additional $72 in overdraft. called again today.Gigi is having a owner c
lying about keeping my personal information
When I originally bought a membership with massage heights I did so in cash so they would not have my personal credit card on file. They had told me this wouldn't be a problem. Then after I had paid, the woman at the front desk ask for my card for "liability reasons" and assures me that my card will be deleted from their system once my cash transaction went through. Which should have been immediately since it was cash. But I told her that was fine as long as my credit card did not remain in their systems.
Today at my massage I went to tip my masseuse and was asked if I was using cash or the card the had on file for me. After examination it was indeed the card they had promised would be deleted from their systems after my initial purchase. If they had told me the truth about their policy I would have went somewhere else with my money to buy a massage package. I am seeking a refund of my massage package based on the lies that in turn helped me to decide to go with them. As well and proff my information has been completely removed from any massage heights systems. Thank you for listening to my complaint. You can reach me at [protected]
Sincerely Nathan I Davis
40 massages in count
I have over 40 Massages That I have not yet used, every month I am charged $49.99, I have asked Massage Heights for more freezes on the Massages. So I can try to catch on them, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to catchup on them, I don't work in Jacksonville any more; and there is NOT a Massage Height here to attend. I have asked the store Mangers(Kristy, and Amanda) several times, if I can give some of them to my husband who is also a member; but Massage Heights refuses to Cooperate with me; at present time I am so UNHAPPY with this Scan that Massage Heights play on good people. I guess that it is time to Go Public to ALL of Jacksonville Florida Local News Stations, with Complaint.
contract fraud
I had a one year contract with M.H. Jacksonville, FL. Paid monthly with auto billing to my credit card. Massage heights refuses to cancel membership after giving a 30 day notice to cancel membership at end of the one year contract. Unprofessional manager, has said that if I do not give a credit card number to continue bill that it will be sent to collection to ruin my credit.
dishonest practices
I have been a member of massage heights for sometime now, during my last visit on 9/11 I had a massage and a facial. I started getting massages and facials together because I was advised that I had additional hours that ran over to cover both services, after my massage I went to check out and I was advised that I owed additional money for the massage and facial. I explained to the new employee that I did not owe any additional money the only thing I owed was my tip. I also said that if they were to check my history they will see that, she spoke with someone on the phone who told her to leave my checkout open so that it could be researched then someone would follow-up with me. I received a call back on 9/19 from Lindsey stating that she reviewed my account and we were caught up on the prepaid and she wanted to chat before they checked me out. I called back and spoke with Lee who could tell I was very upset I advised her that I am not authorizing payment on my card because I do not owe additional money, she started asking me who did I talk to for my visit and who scheduled my appointment I explained that I did not have access to their system and she should be able to see that and then I was told that because I was upset she would have Lindsey who was out of town call me back. I received a fallback that went to voicemail from Lindsey explaining that she checked my entire payment and service history and I had 4 hrs and the issue would be researched further with a tech team and I would be contacted. I was also advised that there was a system issue from last year which caused this problem . I recalled having another issue with my appointment getting cancelled due to this computer system which appears to be outdated. I did not receive a phone call that the hours were added and I had not called anyone back yet. I checked my bank account today for another reason and there are 2 pending drafts from massage heights . I never gave authorization for these payments and I am very upset and do not appreciate having my account drafted outside of my monthly billing without my permission or approval.
Deceptive sales and unauthorized credit card charges landings, sarasota
I gave written notice of my intent to terminate my contract as I fulfilled my obligation. When I called they told me once the contract time was up to come in and terminate before the next months billing. I showed up to cancel on Feb 6, 2017 and was told I should have done it the month prior. I explained that I called and they said no one would tell me that and treated me like a liar. I got so upset being lied to and then being treated so rudely I said fine just terminate it. I understood they were going to charge me for February but after that I would be done. I asked for the manager to call me back as I was not happy with what happened. after 3 days no call. I called again asking for the manager and again no call back. Now today they charged my card for another month! I have left another message and doubt I will get a call back. Them continuing to charge my card is no different than a thief who steals my money. This is very upsetting.
Customer service
Absolute worse customer service I have ever encountered. We have a membership with the Matthews, NC location. We booked a 90 minute session and prior to booking this confirmed, we had enough time accrued to cover the 91 minute but when we were checking out, we were informed that we had to pay an addition fee because our monthly fee hadn't been deducted yet. It's deducted on the 17th, our massages were on the 16th. When I asked why I was told we had enough time, no one could provide an answer and the manager was very rude. So I stopped going to that location and began going to the Stone Crest location in NC. Everything went fine there until I advised them we wanted to cancel our membership. When I tried to book our next appointments, all of a sudden, they couldn't find any openings at that location. WE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM BEFORE booking appointments. We were advised we needed to contact the Matthews location to schedule our massages as well as cancel the membership. We stopped in the Matthews location to cancel the membership, we were advised the employees cannot cancel the membership only a director. The director called back two days later and informed me, we couldn't cancel our membership until the 17th of October, today is October 1st. When I asked her if she would be calling me back, since I am the customer, she advised me no. I would need to call the Matthews location back again and have them reach her, then she would call me back again so I can cancel. WHAT? Who does this? I told her this was one of the reasons why I'm canceling the membership. I don't think she cared. I would suggest everyone who has a complaint against this company, submit a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They need to be put out of business.
Unauthorized Credit Card Charge
In June/July 2014, I started my membership with Massage Heights at the Panther Creek location here in The Woodlands, TX. I am a yoga instructor/personal trainer here for over 20 years with contacts with a large number of fitness professionals including stretch and massage therapists. I was not using my membership for anonymous massages as often as I thought I would but was aware of the contract terms and honored my one year contract. I notified my Panther Creek Massage Heights location of my intent to cancel my contract in July of 2015. I had been a member at Massage Envy prior and was well aware of a similar 30 day advance written notice requirement. I verified this with my Massage Heights and dropped a letter off to serve as notice to cancel my contract. I was told at the time that I would be billed for the following month then all payments would cease. I stopped getting my bi-weekly/monthly texts and voice mails from Massage Heights acknowledging my termination. They terminated communication but did not stop the automatic drafts. This month I took over managing our checking accounts as my husbands job has required more of his time. I was shocked to realize that we were still being charged $59.99 a month! That has been $719.88. I talked with Kim, the manager, at the Panther Creek location and she understood my dilemma and distress and said she would talk with the owner to get my money refunded. Today I was told that the letter did not exist in my file and I was required to fill out a form to stop the automatic draft. A form was not mentioned or offered to me when I submitted my letter. I was told I could get 3 months refunded and 6 months of massages but not the full amount charged. I feel sick, violated and completely taken advantage of. I honored my one year contract although I wasn't using the services. I did everything right to fulfill my obligation and terminate the contract according to the terms. I submitted a 30 day written notice. I took the word of the manager and the cessation of all communication from Massage Heights as acknowledgment of my cancellation. I recommend massage to all my clients, students and colleagues. People respect my recommendations. I will no longer share my, once favorable, experiences with Massage Heights but instead warn them of the deceptive business practices that exist at the Massage Heights in our community.
Membership
I was given a $50 gift card massage and was convinced to turn it into a 3 month massage package for an additional $100. Sounded reasonable enough, right? When I tried to cancel the massage membership in December, I was confused by the process. I submitted my request twice via email. When I realized my credit card was not charged, I went ahead and made an...
