McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff PAPER COMPLAINT Consumer has a home security system through My Alarm Center

PAPER COMPLAINT Consumer has a home security system through My Alarm Center. In March the consumer decided to cancel the monitoring service since he was now home all the time. He attempted to call customer service but could not get through and also log in online to his account but was unable to. He then started receiving letters about past due bills, one of which said that if he did not pay they would cancel the service. The first was for $157.20. He sent a cancellation email to them, but he later received a letter in the mail from the supplier, a collection agency saying he owes $786.00

I disconnected my internet service around October because the service was not effective (too slow and wouldn't permit me to work at home, which I am required to do because of Covid 19). After the service was disconnected, I requested someone come out and remove half the antenna from my roof, but no one came out to do this. In January , I received a bill from this collection agency, even though I never received a final bill via U.S. mail or via e-mail. This was simply turned over to a collection agency without anyone ever billing me for the amount the collection agency is seeking, which is $325.00.

This business is routing and disguising their phone number through a local number here in Pittsburgh. They keep calling from several different 412-785-xxxx numbers. I have told them several times that they have the wrong number and I've blocked each new number they call from, but it doesn't stop. I need them to stop bothering me. I run a business and they are wasting my time and resources.

I received a letter dated 1/21 following a dispute made to my credit report and have resorted to corresponding with McCarthy Burgess and Wolff in writing to preserve records of communication since my previous requests for validation of debt by phone conversation was disregarded. I specifically requested your verification of this debt and did not receive it. I discovered that this unvalidated debt had been reported to the credit bureaus after being denied a loan. I am an active duty service member and was contacted by someone regarding this claimed debt on 10 November within minutes of my landing in the U.S. following a deployment overseas. I was still on the airfield when I received the call. In that conversation, I very clearly communicated the following points: 1.) My Active Duty Military status; 2.) My deployment orders; 3.) That I dispute these charges and believe I paid *** in full when my account was closed; 4.) I was unaware of any debt outstanding; 5.) I am willing to pay valid debts owed; 6.) I requested validation of this debt and itemization of debt to ***; 7.) My current address. In subsequent communication I reiterated all 7 of these points and requested validation. McCarthty Burgess and Wolff never provided the validation of this debt reported to me in any way as required by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and I recently discovered that your office reported negatively the status of this disputed debt to the credit bureaus after being denied a loan.

McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff I paid this company $84

I paid this company $84. for a collection that was submitted to them by *** on July 3. I contacted them and paid the full amount over the phone with my debit card. I have repeatedly asked them to send me proof of payment, I gave them my email address and have called them at least 4 times and they took my money immediately but have yet to send me proof of payment some sort of receipt. Also they also conveniently forgot to tell me that I had 3 options, one of which was to settle the account for a lesser amount if I paid in a lump sum, which is what I did.. I just want a receipt for my records which they are not giving me and I have a right to..

On July 10, I received a collection letter from MB&E demanding payment of $63.48 for a bill owed to *** in October . I responded via letter that the subject bill had in fact been paid and enclosed a copy of a credit card statement showing that a payment in that amount was posted to my account. Apparently *** did not post that payment to my account but will not consider my information because the case has been assigned to MB&E. Repeated calls to MB&E at [protected] go unanswered. Meanwhile, my credit report has suffered from this reported "delinquency".

McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff After pulling credit report i contacted Collections Agent to settle debt

After pulling credit report i contacted Collections Agent to settle debt. I paid in full the amount of 422.67. I was told by representive who charged my debt card that I would shortly be receiving a email with confirmation number and receipt for proof of payment. I received no email so I called back and was hung up on 4 times. I finally got ahold of someone and they proceed to tell me a email was send over. After checking email thoroughly (spam, junk, inbox) I received no email. I waited til the next day to call back and was told a manager was going to be sending email. I received nothing again. I called back and left 8 voicemails within 5 hrs and have not received a call back or email.

A business alleges I owe $2,626.26 for a past due account and seeks a 30% settlement. I've never had an account with them until recently when I bought phones for my family. I doubt they'd have approved my purchase with an outstanding balance. McCarthy, Burgess and Wolff seem to be running a scam, as they've been caught before. I expect the ComplaintsBoard.com to intervene given their history. Moreover, my credit report shows no claims from this company or any other. This deception must be addressed.

McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff I owe a company $192

I owe a company $192. I attempted to pay through my bank months ago and succeeded. The $192 was deducted from my checking account. The next day, the company refunded the payment without explanation. Months later, I got threats from McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff. I called, agreeing to pay if they cleared my credit report and showed my proof. They directed me back to the company, which sent me to their law firm again. The firm did nothing. I've offered to pay if they fix my credit report.

McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff I have contacted this company twice within 30 days

I have contacted this company twice within 30 days . I was in collections for a bill, and paid it through their online option. However, the amount was pulled from my account 3 days after I made it and again 2 days after that. I contacted them and they did not even show in their system I paid anything. I supplied all the information they asked for and was told they would look into it and contact me after that weekend. Two weeks later no contact . I called again and same reply only this time I was asked to send via email my confirmation of this payment. When I asked approximately how long before I should expect to hear from someone, they could not answer that. I feel this is going to be an ongoing battle and wonder how many other people this has happened to. With the pandemic currently at hand any and all funds are much needed and feel this type of businesses etiquette should be investigated. Thank you for your time . Be safe and take care.

McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff Mccarthy Burgess & Wolf Collection agency is reporting information on my credit file that is not mine and do not belong to me

Mccarthy Burgess & Wolf Collection agency is reporting information on my credit file that is not mine and do not belong to me. I requested this collection via certified mail to delete and stop reporting this information that is not mine. I requested the contract with my signature or anything with my signature and they have failed to do so. I asked them not to send me a copy of a account statement because anyone can get an account statement and type it up as if it belongs to someone. I would like the entire billing detail history and summary and the original contract with my signature. I am tired of these collection company's not verifying information before they slap the collection on the wrong person profile because they did not take proper steps to verify that they have the correct person. I can go online and make a account statement for any Joe Blow out there. I can go online and find someone with my exact name and create false information.

I dispute the subsidiary's inaccurate [protected] date on the Notice of Cancellation and McCarthey, Burgess, & Wolff collection Agency's [protected] $780.45 threat. James Barney contacted us, which turned into a dispute in an over-the-phone contract. In 2017 or 2018, after several years with Monotonic Home Security Co., they adapted their business model for profit under a new name. In August, James Barney informed Monitronic that we had decided to cancel their Home Security service. On [protected], ADT and Aurelia Barney signed a new contract. The company had not provided the automatic renewing contract as they now claim, until we had decided to cancel. They emailed some cancellation procedures on [protected], after I had signed the new contract on [protected]. We still have not seen or been provided with any automatically renewing contract, whether it be a verbal agreement over the phone or a written contract.

McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff On 15 December I received a letter from McCarthy Burgess Short law firm demanding payment for an alleged debt

On 15 December I received a letter from McCarthy Burgess Short law firm demanding payment for an alleged debt. I sent them a registered letter on 31 December (for which *** signed on 11 Jan 2021) requesting written details relating to this alleged debt and their authorization to collect this debt, as this is the first time I had heard of the alleged debt. Instead of receiving a written response, as is required by consumer protection law, a member of the firm called me at home, claimed not to have received the registered letter which the firm signed for a week previously, and demanded I provide a response to my intentions with regard to the alleged debt. I reiterated my requirement that a written response to my inquiries be sent to me at my residence. According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, If you dispute all or part of a debt in writing within 30 days of when you receive the required information from the debt collector, the debt collector cannot call or contact you to collect the debt or the disputed part until the debt collector has provided verification of the debt in writing to you. Always keep a copy of your letter for your records. We note that rather than responding to the written inquiry (and dispute of the debt) with information concerning the alleged debt, McCarthy Burgess called by telephone and attempted to gain agreement for payment of this alleged debt after denying receipt of the written inquiry.

McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff I was offered a settlement of 45% of my balance

I was offered a settlement of 45% of my balance. I then owed $762 at the end. I called the company and a women helped me make a payment on November 19th (The day I was getting paid.). They specifically told me they would send me my receipt straight to my Email. Not my address mail. MY EMAIL. A whole week had passed and I still haven't gotten anything. The shady part was that the website was down for anot*** whole week. I called them again through the phone number given to me in the settlement mail. She said again, that the receipt be sent 2 days after the the payment has gone through. It has been two weeks since I have paid this settlement. And I been trying to contact them consistently, day after day. But the phone will just ring for about 3 minutes. Then it'll just go quiet. The worst part of all of this, is that my money is still in limbo. I printed out a bank statement, and it says my money is still stated in my account balance, but it is NOT available for me to use. So I went two whole weeks, with a majority of my paycheck gone. And they just took it, left it floating God knows w***e. And I don't even know if my debt got paid. I have no proof. My reference number no longer took me to my account that tells me how much I owe. The only proof I think I have, is that they've recorded all my conversations with them on the phone. They consistently told me they would record our conversation. It has only been 3 weeks since the beginning of this incident. And if they did indeed record our conversation. I expect them to have it on file.

McCarthy, Burgess & Wolff On 4/17, McCarthy Burgess & Wolf claimed I owed money on an old financial account.

On 4/17, McCarthy Burgess & Wolf claimed I owed money on an old financial account opened or closed since 2004. I've never owned such an account. My family and I are loyal to our financial institutions. I've requested debt validation under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I've never interacted with McCarthy Burgess & Wolf, nor acknowledged any debt with them. This is my first encounter with them, and we plan to take legal action for false debt reporting. I assert that further contact will lead to legal proceedings for damages to my credit history. The debt validation letter also demands proof of the alleged debt within the statute of limitations. Without proof, the letter is a cease and desist notice. Any further communication will result in legal action.
