I received several Melaleuca products for Christmas from a family member. I used several of the products and had some that I was not interested in using. I listed the items for sale on eBay and very quickly received an email from melaleuca telling me that i was not allowed to sell their products on eBay and insisted that I take them down or legal action would be taken. I immediately called eBay and inquired about the rules regarding selling melaleuca on their site. The eBay rep. informed me that they have a list of products that business vendors can apply to be on that has rules about selling their products to ensure legitimacy and that melaleuca was not on that list therefore there were no limitations on selling Melaleuca products on eBay. I sent an email back to melaleuca telling them the information that i received from eBay. Melaleuca in turn replied that this information was wrong and that they insisted that I take my listing down or they would proceed with legal action. I left the listings as they were and completed the transactions. I think that Melaleuca used heavy handed tactics with someone that has nothing to do with their business and I did not appreciate their threatening emails.

Okay...so for those of you complaining about Melaleuca, tell me do you own a cell phone? and if you do own a cell phone by any chance, are you in a contract? If your not in a contract congratulations you did not get scammed. For those of you who complain about Melaleuca and are in a two year contract, listen up. So when you walk into t-mobile, sprint, at&t and etc, and your looking for a phone you like, what do you automatically notice? Oh ###! look at the price on this phone. We'll say an average price for most phones now and day cost anywhere from 100-500 dollars w/o a contract. Now once you find the phone you like and see its $400 dollars, your automatic response is, "well lets look at the contracts. So you find a store rep and they explain to you, actually this phone is about $250 dollars if you get a two year contract and if you only get a one year contract its about $350 dollars...so automatically, you say I want that phone let me get the two year contract. So than they ask, "What plan would you like?" and they then give you a lay out of all there plans; from cheapest to most expensive and family plans. lets say you, "like most people" pick the one that's between the expensive and inexpensive. So you get internet, so many minutes on texting so forth and so on...this comes out to $60 dollars a month. So now your at $310 dollars. So than they proceed telling you, "if you break the contract before the two years is up, you owe them an amount of money" (differs from different cell phone companies). So you agree and sign the contract. (Oh I forgot to mention insurance which isn't much but none the less, its still a fee) So you from there, pay and go on about your merry way. Some months up the road, you phone begins to have problems...don't worry the insurance handles that...until that phones starts to have problems...hmm insurance will handle that (remember some companies have an amount on how many times you can recieve a new phone) Normally most phones are designed to only last for so long...they never meet a two year contract or there destroyed before the two years is up. SO for the next almost year and six months, your assed out of a phone. Well not really...you can go and pay 400 dollars for another phone or pay 20 dollars for a prepaid and only get so little minutes at a costly price. MY POINT: If you seriously think Melaleuca is a fraud your light bulb is lose. Look at all of these companies...Wal-Mart under pays there employees and than in-turn wants to get mad if you go overtime, when your scheduled to work 43 hours IN ONE WEEK and your part-time. Look if you want talk to me about Melaleuca and bet if you had a complaint I can change that experience for you.

Melaleuca is nothing more than an MLM scam! When I joined I found that the prices were outrageously high and when you try to sell any Melaleuca product the 'team' of people above you makes a huge commission, that's why the price is so high! So when you sign up they try to get you to go out and recruit others to buy tons of this crappy product.
So after realizing this (and after being charged $70 for my first month) I closed my account and sent my order back for what I was told would be a refund. AFTER sending my order back I was told that I wouldn't be refunded and would instead be given a credit, which I can't even use because my account was closed!
Melaleuca is a fraud. They are an mlm company which gives you overpriced products that you have to buy to then sell to others, they bill you monthly, they make it almost impossible to cancel, and they wouldn't refund my order despite being told that I would be refunded! Avoid Meleleuca!
Apparently any and all of you that make complaints about Melaleuca had the wrong person enroll you because they were not very good teachers because that is what we are "teachers" we teach about the Quality of the products and the Quality of the company the products are scientifically proven to be better than anything you can buy at the store and the home and personal hygiene products are more concentrated than anything you can buy at the store as an example the laundry soap Mela-power you can do a full load with only a 1/2 oz. instead of the usual 2 to 8 oz with other brands and I would bet that if you were to buy the same five products at the store like it appears you do with melaleuca you would stop going to that store or is it that you have to buy the same five products all the time because their products are so diluted down with water that you have to buy their products every month and the person that enrolled you should be able to help you to solve any problems you might have by getting on the ph. with you and the company be cause you don't know the right questions to ask if you have any questions that you would like for me to answer my e-mail is lumber_cutter@yahoo.com my cell# is [protected] or you can friend me on facebook I am the only person with my name Wayne Livernois and I live in N. Melaleuca is a great sound referral type biz... Not an MLM and the products are life changing!
No matter what you google there will be complaints...so take that into thought when doing your research. If you would just ask the person who enrolled you to hear a preservation (the company has them scheduled so you hear it correctly)
This is a debt free company that really has the right intentions .

As someone who has participated in the past with health product MLMs with the goal of making money and at the same time working with a product ( s ) that where healthy and clearly work, I must say I am very skeptical of programs that have a monthly buy program.
Bman3304 seems to break it down fairly well, and his math appears fairly accurate.
I am sure if you have the time and people skills to invest you can have success. I am also sure that most people will not have the patience, time or skill sets necessary to succeed. I have been involved with two different companies now that I felt were on the up and up and have better compensation plans than Melaleuca.
I will not say they are a scam as I have not tried their products, but I will say that the amount of time this type of program needs to have asuccessful outcome will be more than most people have unless they are retired or are empty nesters.
There will always be a few out there, young and old, who will be exceedingly successful. They are the exception not the rule.
This program can work but for most people but it will take several years to realize a livable income.
My suggestion would be to get started if you can meet the minimum product requirements and then build the business over time.
A slow but steady approach will be more successful for most people.
I own an Indoor air quality testing company and also inspect commercial and residential buildings. This brings me to why I am looking at Melaleuca. I need to be able to offer clients a product or products that will meet the need more and more people have for lowering the air quality issues found in all buildings.
I am considering the products of Melaleuca because they are chemical free and also because I can always use another source of income... These are just my thoughts and my approach, yours will likely be different, Good luck and think things through carefully. Melaleuca is a pyramid scheme/MLM company that disguises itself as a product company as most schemes tend to do now to avoid the Federal Government.
Let me break it down in simplest terms, In order to make at least $1, 000 a month you need to have 100 people under you (or 50 that have at least 1 person under them) that keep up their membership fee per month of 35 points or $65.00. You will get 20% of that commission. or $13 per person. Understand that you must spend at least $65.00 a month or you cannot be a member.
So do the math, that's roughly a thousand dollars. So in order to make the "big bucks" you need to have those 100 spend more then the league minimum or get more people to sign up. As with anything in life it always comes down to agony vs. income and this business plan requires more work for less money. If you want to make 35K a month you need to recruit almost 2, 700 people who spend the league minimum each month.
The bottom line is that the products are no different than other store bought items at Costco, Target etc. They all work the same. They are not better. I've tried them. The Vitamins do not release more into your systems. The laundry detergent does not clean or remove spots better than name brands. The energy drinks are not cheaper. It's a myth created by potential salespeople in order to get you to sign up so they can make money off you. If it were truly a value and service you wouldn't be forced to spend a minimum amount each month. In this economy people are tightening up, not spending more.
This post is bogus. Know how I know? Because those in the business never have to buy product to resell to others! The only products Melaleuca Marketing Executives are required to buy is what they will use in their own homes. The products are great, and there are over 350 of them in the catalog. Most people buy shampoo, laundry detergent, and household cleaning products every month anyway, why not buy non-toxic and environmentally friendly products that work better and cost less than the "green" products sold in the supermarkets and Wal-Marts?
Don't know why this poster is trying to discredit a reputable company, but, as someone who is actually familiar with the Melaleuca company, these comments just do not ring true.
Wow, it's interesting to hear the opinions of the above. My two cents worth is also my opine. I've used these products since May 2011. My house is now cleaned with products made in the USA, I am not afraid to breathe in while I am using them AND unlike ANY inexpensive store bought product that I have used, THEY CLEAN!
I also feel great after taking the vitality pack. The proof is in the blood work too. My cardiologist asked me what I had been doing differently. After telling her, she wants to know more. The only thing I changed was taking the Vitality 50+ complete. As far as a scam, I have made money, not thinking this is a get rich quick plan but as I share with others, I do get paid. I like that idea. Maybe many of the negatives are due to people telling others they can makes tons of moola while the truth is, you might...while sharing these great products with those you care about and becoming more healthy; physically, environmentally and financially.
Guys, you don't understand the concept behind the business. After you have a solid organization, which doesn't take much to build if you are good at communicating with people (most people suck at this).
Once you have a solid organization, the last thing you are worry about is the miserable $70 because you are making easily a couple thousand dollars every month.
So, don't blame on Melaleuca your incapacity to conduct business. 95% of Americans are FOLLOWERS... not leaders. You need to be a leader to make this business succeed. I've made hundred of thousands with this company and about to reach 1MM very soon. 9 to 5 worker mentality will not make you a penny in this business, so keep flipping burgers at McDonalds, you don't know any better obviously.
My only response is simple, If such products work for others then great. However not everyone follows the beaten path of an MLM such as this one. I feel sorry for those who believe it is far superior than anything you can purchase at a regular store. I can help share life enhancing products without the pressure of being a so called "preferred member" or meeting a requirement to spend a minimum of $70 per month on items i purchased the month before. I probably would have a different opinion had i not felt the pressure to spend money every month on items i did not need. Not what i call promoting a debt free ideology.

Was with the company for about 6 months. Products are expensive and customer service as a non-preferred member is not first class. They charge you with restocking fees for returns, just another way to make more money off of customers. They also deduct money from your account if you have a credit with them, proves to be an even worse BS policy. Beware of this so called "green", "more healthy", "natural" company. Your local organic markets are just as good, more affordable, and don't treat their customers with a nickel and dime mentality like Melaleuca does

If you were not interested in becoming a Melaleuca customer, why did you sign the enrollment papers? That would be the only reason you received the backup order automatically, if you signed up as a customer and then did not place an order. That's part of the agreement. So...this is not Melaleuca's fault, but yours for enrolling with no intention of being an actual customer.
Oh, and don't feel sorry for "Tide" (a.k.a. Proctor & Gamble); they're making plenty of money selling their poisons in your local Wal-Mart.

No one is all of Melaleuca is a distributor so therefore no one ever tries to sell you anything. This means when you post about a Melaleuca person trying to sell you something, I have a hard time taking your complaint seriously.
We simply explain how it all works and let YOU decide what YOU want to do. No one can force you to become a member so you either got on a three way call or filled out enrollment forms telling Melaleuca that you wanted their products. Why did you tell them that if you really didn't want them? That is YOU being deceptive, not Melaleuca.
You asked them to send you an automatic order if you didn't place your regular order and that is exactly what they did. Once again it comes back to you saying you would order and then not ordering. Yet Melaleuca doesnt come on here and talk bad about you. In fact Im sure they would be happy to welcome you back with open arms because thats the level of integrity they have.

My son Michealneil is a College student and working on weekends and these people at Melaleuca is taking money for items he doesn't need. You have to be honest with people, they should have told him that he is not working for enough money and he should return when he does have a full time job. They keep going into his credit card and he keeps paying. Anyway, to cancel, you have to fill out an application, then faxed or mailed it to them. They are all about the mighty dollar and doesn't give a damn about anyone. But you cannot be successful when you cheat people. I believe in Karma.

My question is who forced this college student to sign up? I personally just started purchasing Melaleuca products and I have 3 ppl who take vitamins every day, so if I buy only vitamins every month I have made well over my quota. I also have picked a product or two to actually use vs the prior product I was using to see the difference. Sometimes, i don't see a difference, but knowing that the product did the same thing without all the chemicals and toxic ingredients makes me feel better. If people werent in the market for products like that they wouldn't shop the organic and obviously higher priced, or go to Whole Foods where its not cheap. Quality has always come with a higher price, but honestly the cleaning products are great. You just need to do the comparision product by product. And if you don't like the way things are priced, things are contracted, etc...then DON'T BECOME A MEMBER! In addition to the products they sell, they have 640 retail partners, great for christmas shopping, that have cash back and sale promotions. It doesn't work for everyone, but everyone is allowed their opinion. Maybe the college student liked the idea but financially couldn't support himself as a member. See, not for everyone.

You said its for things he doesnt need. Tell me, when did he stop showering, brushing his teeth, using mouthwash, using deodorant, cleaning up the place where he lives and I could go on and on. Melaleuca is a REPLACEMENT store meaning you stop buying at the toxic and expensive grocery stores and get better safer products that are cheaper to use. As has been said already here, he obviously wanted to buy from them instead of the regular stores or he wouldnt have signed up in the first place. IOf you really want to help him, you should enroll as his first customer so when you save money on what you buy he will actually get a commission check each month.

I was with the company Melaleca for almost 2 years. I worked VERY hard, and was left with little to show for it. Only twice did I receive a check for over 400.00. I barely made enough each month to cover orders I HAD to place. I believe only few people will succeed with the company. People who LIE! The products are NOT cheaper! The prodcts are NOT better! They barely work. Now after not being with the company and using the store cleaners, I LOVE them! They work and my home smells clean! I will never go back. The customer service was horrible. Products way over priced I was lied to tons of times! 35 points is atleast 70 dollars...thats 6-8 products...would you really spend that much at Kroger for 6-8 products? NOOOO! Once you enroll 8 people and you are Director...you have to DOUBLE your order... i have boxes and boxes of ridiculous products left over. I wasted so much time and energy and money believing in the company. Don't waste yours!

If you worked very hard and only earned over $400 twice in 2 years, you were not doing the right activities. We earned over $400 our first full month and have never earned less than that since.
The products are absolutely cheaper per use. Take a catalog and a calculator to Wal Mart and do the math. I know you are upset but what something costs is not an emotional question, the numbers don't lie. On a per use basis, almost no one beats Melaleuca unless you get into the heavily toxic and downright dangerous dollar store stuff and if you want to put that stuff in and on your body thats all you.
35 points can be done with as few as 3 products and no one intellectually honest can say they don't buy at least three products a month unless they are homeless.
The average 35 point order is $50 to $60. Even the back up orders are $50.49, not $70. You are obviously just very mad and upset and so your are exaggerating as a result. That happens on this board regularly. I think I have read maybe two non-exaggerated claims against Melaleuca in my years here.
If you have any product at all left over, especially boxes and boxes, you did it all wrong. If you worked very hard and only made what you claim, you did the wrong activities. It sounds like your enroller didn't train you properly. If you were in our team, you would do very well. If you ever decide to revisit Melaleuca, I'd be happy to train you to do it the right way so there is no inventory, no selling, most importantly NO LYING.
When done properly and honestly, Melaleuca will change your life for the better.

Agree with the response! I've been with them for nearly 10 months. My first check was over $500 and every check after that was $1300 to $2000. When you said you worked...there's NO way you did. Thinking about it all of the time is not working! You actually have to go out and enroll personals and help develop others. Your attitude is that of many that are just happy living off of welfare - I know that's working really hard too.

I never dreamed that it would be this difficult to cancel. I gave my payment in good faith. I am very upset I was not informed that if I decided to cancel that I had to do it by the 25th. I did let them know I wanted to cancel before the 25th. That would have been a great time to tell me of the cut off date. That if I did not cancel by then I would be still responsable for a shipment of products I do not want and can not afford. I went to them for a paying job. Now I have a shipment being sent to me and at my own expense have to ship it back. They have my credit card information because you have to pay your enrollment fee before they send you a link and learn what they don't tell you. That should have been my sign the enrollment fee.
By the way: Sam's, Cosco, Bjs The companies they compared Melaleuca with do not require their members to purchase products monthly. How else can you look at this but a scam. It was shucking to learn you have the opportunity to get a bonuses if you purchased a book. So you spend 12.95 to try and get a 500.00 bonuse. Then you must get 8 others to sign up and they must place a 50-60 dollar order. This is worse than Amway ever thought of being and is no where even comparable to Cosco.
The products maybe even good but forcing me to give them a try is insane.
I asked them not to repond to my e-mail unless they planed to pick up the cost of the products, shipping or the cost of my aggravation.
My idea of a job is not to support the company I am working for financially in order to have a job or to get bonuses.

When I called Melaleuca's corporate Headquarters I was told that I can only cancel online. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was curtly told that a supervisor would say the same thing.
I have attempted to find an option to quit on their website but have not been able to find any that will let me cancel my membership.
It's interesting that Melaleuca will gladly accept a fax with your credit card number to become a member but when I asked to fax in my cancelation I was told it can only be done on-line.

I am a marketing executive and the only way to cancel a melaleuca membership is to fax or mail them a request to cancel with your account number and signature before the 25th of the month. I have had 3 customers cancel their membership over the past year without any problems. They are not permitted to take a cancellation over the phone. It must be submitted in writing.
Anyone can cancel at any time, all you have to do is download the one page cancellation form, fill it out, fax it in and your done. It's much easier to cancel than it is to sign up to begin with.

My complaint started the day I talked to MS KATHY REECE. She is a melaleuca director; I had several
questions for her. One of the questions was " Do the seven websites cost?" Ms Reece replay was of course
not. Imagine my suprise when I went to their Promo center and found out that It not only cost $15.00,
but you can't get any where without their training center. I had only been with the company for about
2 weeks when I come to realize that good old MELALEUCA IS NOTHING BUT A PYRAMID SCHEME . Check
it for yourself. When I question Ms Kathy Reece about it ; she said that I was wrong. That MELALUCA
is a CONSUMER DIRECT MARKETING OR A MULTI LEVEL MARKETING. As Ms Reece put it Pyramid
Schemes are illegal and I should do my research on them. I did on Bing.com and good old
Melaleuca is nothing, but a PYRAMID SCHEME! I tried to cancel over the phone they told me I
had to go to their website and run off their cancellation paper. I told that I did not have a printer Please
send me the paper. That was on March 19th, 2011. I get get an email from them saying that owe them
$60.50 for an order that I did not ask for. Imagine my suprise! For one thing their product gave me
a terrible rash. Now I keep getting e-bills and phone calls from them. I finaly got a cancellation paper from
them after I threatened them with the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. They don't want a call from them.
All this took place a month later. As of right now I am still a member in good standing. I had to close out
my checking account because of them and they still send me vitamins that cost $60.50 and they billed me.
Now If you ask me good old Melalecua is a scam. But that just me you can find for yourself call this number

It's sad that these negative types of posts will deter people from trying out a membership with Melaleuca.
Being a member is not a big deal. You shop for what you need each month. You can decide if you want to shop with them or not.
If you didn't read what was involved with being a melaleuca member before signing the form then you have no right to trash the company.
It states clearly on the enrollment form that if you cancel your membership by the 25th of the month then you do not need to place an order that month. You're done. It's super easy. My kid could print out the form, sign it and fax it in.
If you cancel after the 25th, you will still need to place an order for the current month but your membership will be cancelled going forward. If you do not fax or mail in your signed notice of cancellation then you will receive a backup order. It's all clearly stated on the membership agreement form (that you sign when you enroll, or electronically sign if you enroll online).
Melaleuca has been in business for 27 years and their business continues to grow because of their exceptional products. Most people that give the company a chance LOVE the products and their business model. You get exceptional products made from a US manufacturer, delivered right to your doorstep, and they come w/ a money back guarantee. And you can refer people to shop with Melaleuca and they share their revenue with you. It's a simple concept.
If you think it's too much to order 35 points of product each month then refer a few friends to shop with the company. I buy over 80 points of product each month so there's no worry about reaching 35 points each month. I just shop for what i need.
Smh?! You know many people aren't computer savvy in this day and age. If you do research online, make sure it's a "trusted" resource. I could find anything negative online about anything If I wanted to. Melalueca isn't a scam! For one, you are using the SAFEST, NON-TOXIC, CHEMICAL FREE products manufactured anywhere! Secondly, people easily shop at Walmart, Target, Dollar store, Sams Club etc and pay for CRAP items that has nothing but CHEMICALS, TOXINS and HARMFUL side effects to them. People spend over $100 a month just in CRAP! But yet you can't invest in your HEALTH?! You can't put a PRICE on your HEALTH. How things are processed and manufactured with other companies are just DISGUSTING! If they charge you after you have done these steps then you can call Melalueca and talk to a MANAGER and they will refund your money back to your account with no PROBLEM! This complaint is, of course, COMPLETE BOGUS. Melaleuca is amazing, and definitely NOT an MLM.
This sort of post is an abuse of this board in my opinion. Just shameful that this Sue person is allowed to spew such unsupported rhetoric. of course her goal wasn't to post an honest complaint, it was to get new people honestly searching for information to get the wrong impression of Melaleuca. I have been in and out of Melaleuca several times since 1994 and I know first hand that almost everything the opening poster said is a crock of moose ca ca. if you are not yet in Melaleuca, get with a real and current customer and get a complete Delivering Wellness presentation so you can make up your own mind with REAL information.
I have been with Melaleuca for almost 3.5 years and have helped hundreds of families switch to better, safer, healthier products, save money and earn additional income to support their household income. Melaleuca is NOT a pyramid scheme. If you did in fact do research on what this is then you would realize the difference between the two. I am sorry that your enroller apparently was not honest with you with the website fee. However, she is an individual person - not an entire company. Also, the vitamins do not cost $60 they are $26 for Canadians and $19 for americans and they are the best vitamins on earth due to the technology they use to create them (they get 10 times more absorption than traditional supplements). You were charged $60 for your backup order which is only supposed to happen in case of emergency. The idea here is to switch stores, shop for better, safer, healthier products that help you and the environment. They help you save money. You get free products just for being a loyal customer (which no other store would provide for you) and you even get discounts at hundreds of other stores. I am guessing your enroller didn't show you the Delivering Wellness presentation? It's too bad. I am sorry you had a bad experience. Too bad you didn't meet me and join my team instead :)

i have cancelled my melaleuca membership 3 months ago which they tried to make it imposssable ! thought i finally was done with them until i got my credit card charged $29.95 listed as health care savings on my statement. they said as 05 i signed up for this card which i didn't ...we have our own health care!? looking back we were charged every year for $12.95 seeing the listing we thought it was from our health care as it did not say melaleuca like when ordering products . stay away they are scamming people! every month prices would go up or less product ! example the provec cv you have to take 1 pill for every 35 lbs of your weight thats out of control!

Do yourself a huge favor and avoid becoming a distributor with Melaleuca. They have the worst reputation in the direct selling industry for dishonestly dealing with their marketers. Their CEO, Mr. Frank VanderSloot, will bring frivolous legal action against you if you decide to move to another company. He is also notorious for changing the compensation plan on a whim, and in the process, cheating their distributors out of their hard earned commissions. My wife got scammed into signing up for this after a so called “friend” saw her on Face book. She no sooner said hi when she was cajoling her into joining this pyramid scheme. That’s how they make their money, signing as many people as they can. Besides having outrageous prices ($26 for nothing more that a 16oz. bottle of glorified Lysol, or over $70 a month for their non FDA approved vitamins), when inquiring how to get out of this scheme, I got hassled by a snotty saleslady ("Director') out of Blaine, MN. (initials S.W.)who called the cops on me for asking honest questions which she wouldn’t answer! Plus they automatically charge your credit card a $60 minimum a month even if you don’t order anything. From what I read on other posts, it's very difficult to quit this pyramid scheme, having to send them certified letters and hoping it reaches the right people.

I have read through several of these complaints and several comments. Some are against the company, some love it. I personally love it. For those of you who are looking for business opportunities, you should never make a decision over the phone without first completely checking out the company. Try using the Better Business Bureau. They have online access. It only takes a minute. Check out any company before you make a commitment. If you do not check it out for yourself before making a decision to give out bank account numbers and credit card numbers you are only asking for trouble. Please, take a little more responsibility for your own actions.
First of all -- what I stated in my first comment is true. I took the right course by calling my bank without delay. I was not in fear of any repercussions from my bank because I was telling the truth. When I called the bank I immediately had my debit card account closed and was issued a new one.
The bank investigated the charges and my account has been credited back the $61.32. As to not calling the company -- there was no phone number listed with the charge on my statement. When I tried to get a phone number by looking up the name and city online I found there were several business addresses and phone numbers listed with Melaleuca in the business name. I did not have the time to pursue each business with nothing more than my bank statement. The best recourse is to always notify your financial institution immediately!
How and why the charges got on my statement is still unknown. If someone stole my information then I'm lucky I caught the mistake before any other charges started to appear (another good reason for contacting your bank ASAP). Also...(and thank you for your advice) after calling my bank I immediately did exactly as your last paragraph suggested and my other accounts have shown no charges that weren't made by me.
I will admit to not knowing who made the charges and I should give the company the benefit of the doubt. The only thing I have to say about that is...whoever did it had to use a name and address other than mine. Why would this great company have the practice of allowing charges to be made to a debit / credit card whithout either the name or address matching with what is on record. I order things online once in awhile and most of the time it will state that the name and address must appear exactly as it is on the account. That said -- the $61.32 was back in my account in 2 days. Melaleuca obviously recognized the mistake after the bank brought it to their attention.
Okay...enough said. I'm not going to respond to anymore comments on the subject because - honestly - I just don't have the time. If I hadn't received an email about your comment I wouldn't be wasting my time now. I originally posted my comment after doing an online investigation on Melaleuca, Inc and came across the postings.
There is a lot of your complaint that does not ring true. First Melaleuca is a 25 yr old company with a A BBB rating and recipient of numerous other business awards. It is not likely that they picked your credit card information off line and randomly charged it $61.32. (There annual sales last year were over $948 million and they have a 95% reorder rate.)
Second, if my card had a charge from a company that I had never heard of, the first thing I would do is contact the company and get all of the details regarding the charge. It is hard to believe that you did not do this. I would advise you to do so right away and find out why and for what they charged your card for because your bank will. If you bank finds out that you or another authorized card holder signed an agreement they will not refund the money and they may take additional steps for the filing of a false claim.
If your above claim is true I would advise that it is more likely that someone has stolen your information and used it for their own personal benefit and that you should check on all of your other financial documents and accounts right away.
I tend to believe the complaint is true! I just did a bank rec on my checking account and found a charge of $61.32 payable to Melaleuca, Inc. Idaho Falls, ID. I never even heard of this company before seeing this charge. I checked with my husband and of course he also did not order anything from these people so I then called the bank to report the charge and have it investigated.
After calling the bank I decided to do an online search of the company. I found several different addresses and phone numbers listed under their name. Also found numerous complaints made against them as well.
As I said earlier -- I never heard of Melaleuca, Inc before today, but I can honestly say that this company fraudulently debited my bank account and scammed me for $61.32. Just imagine how many people don't catch or questioned these unauthorized charges to their accounts -- wow...a person or company could get rich quick with this kind of scheme!
Yeah this complaint is a total load of BS. Melaleuca has a GREAT reputation, and has won several prestigious awards for its ethical business practices. People who work with MLMs post these bogus complaints just to stir up trouble. Complaints about Melaleuca are hardly ever legitimate.

B. Melaleuca is not an MLM, so not sure that any info on an MLM site would be helpful to anyone.
C. Based on your complete misunderstanding and misrepresentation of facts, IF you ever were working with Melaleuca- I think it is a great thing that you have left. Melaleuca is very particular about the types of people who they allow to represent them. Which leads me to think IF there is legal action against you or someone else- i would certainly bet anything that is isn't for 'moving to another company'.
Try to get your facts right next time if you want some credibility to your report!
I was a Meleleuca customer for about a year and never had any problem. The vitamins are fantastic. I have never felt better in my life than when I was taking them. The cleaning products are great, and are all natural. No chemicals whatsoever. There has never been an injury to child or adult reported from accidental ingestion of these products. The Maleleuca Oil is something I will never be without. It's amazing. The reason I am no longer a customer is because we had a hurricane come through our area in 2005 and my husband was only working part time as it was. I just couldn't afford my monthly minimum requirement since we had to evacuate and incurred other expenses. Also, I didn't have internet or phone services for quite a while due to the storm. When I got in touch with them and explained, they were so nice and courteous. The lady told me they would love to have me back when I get on my feet. Well, I'm back on my feet and looking for a director in my area so I can sign up again. I don't have any idea where these people live, or who they are dealing with, but it certainly isn't the Melaleuca company in Idaho. And FYI, the "pyramid scheme" is really not a scheme at all since all Melaleuca representatives can only have 5 people under them and then they have to hand new recruits to another director. This keeps the people at the top from taking the big money and leaving the trickle down change to the ones who didn't get in on the ground floor. Believe me, I've sat through the presentation of the drawing of the circles. I know about the pyramid schemes...this isn't one. I never really worked it as a business as much as I was in it to have access to the product. I'm sure this is why they have a monthly minimum...for people like me who just buy their own products and don't sell. After all, it is all commission, just like other sales positions. Truly sorry these people had a bad experience and I hope others won't decide to not join because of this. A bad experience is NOT the norm with this company.
This is a rather old post so I don't know if this comment would be read. My household has been a happy customer with Melaleuca for 10 years. We have actually just delved in to the business aspect. The products are so great and the company is outstanding. I do agree that you need to read the fine print but... it is also important for enrollers to make certain you understand the contract. It is a simple contract and easily cancelled. If you get a chance, do give Melaleuca another try. They are so worth it.

In my attempt to remain objective and unbiased, all I can say to this point about my exposure and experience with Melalueca as a spouse of a marketing representative, is that all appears positive with not only the products and service, but also the service and support Melaleuca Corporate provides to its direct customers and marketing reps. That said, it appears some marketing reps don't sufficiently educate consumers or correctly convey how the membership program works.
As for comparisons to more traditional MLM programs, there appear to be some similarities however, Melalueca representatives do not sell or market products directly. They instead refer Malelueca products to friends and acquaintances based on their own experiences. If they like the products and see the health and savings value benefit along with business opportunity potential, if choosen, a Melalueca representative will assist them with membership sign up.
Bottom line is, it is my opinion when one is properly informed and understands Melalueca product wellness benefits, savings, program methodology, and residual income potential, that membership affiliation presents a great opportunity to improve not only yours and your family health and well being, but also creates a tremendous residual income opportunity.

Stephanie, when people exaggerate on here, it becomes obvious to those who do understand Melaleuca that someone is just emotional and not posting factually. For example, Melaleuca has over 350 products. To place just the minimum order each month it would still take you several years to get all the way thru the catalog never buying the same item twice yet you claim to be stockpiling product. Melaleuca is specifically designed so that doesn't happen.
You don't remember who you talked to but you remember it was the 3rd of the month? That's quite a detail to remember without recalling who you spoke to. Of course this brings your entire claim into question because no one at Melaleuca would have ever told you to call back in to cancel because for over 25 years the policy has been and still is that you cannot cancel over the phone. This would be a fireable offense had it actually happened.
Your entire comment assumes Melaleuca to be an extra bill. It is not. If you truly are hard up for money, Melaleuca is the smartest thing you can do because it is CHEAPER PER USE on almost every product compared to the grocery store brands. It sounds like you made the big mistake of double purchasing where you kept on buying from the local stores AND Melaleuca instead of truly converting your home like you promised Melaleuca you would do when you enrolled. That's not Melaleucas fault, they simply believed you and took you at your word that you wanted to be a committed monthly customer. Why you didnt keep your word I don't know but to redirect and blame Melaleuca when they did nothing wrong isn't right to do.
Well I have read a couple of these complaints, and I have to say that I think the customer service is horrible. I cannot give names of who I spoke with (its been too long) but I know I was told it was easy to cancel services if I needed to. My husband lost his job and it was no longer possible for me to spend THAT much money on things that I had stacking up around my house already (I was stock piling at that point) so I called and spoke to a seemingly very nice lady who said (as I called on the 3rd of the month) that she couldn't stop my current month's order, but to call back at the END of the month to cancel before the 1st of the next and it would be no problem. I called back at the end of the month at approx. the 26th, as instructed and was told that in order to stop the next months order I would have had to put a cancel on my account in writing, by the 25th. I felt that the first person I spoke to could have told me that and saved me that much needed $70 worth of product that was my back up order. But being as she TOLD me to call at the END of the month it was a small company scam to get me to order at least 1 more month. I was extremely disappointed in the company at this point in time. I will never sign back up with the company for this reason, I feel they didn't treat me as a human with circumstances that would limit my ability to purchase their products (Had they canceled or told me how to cancel and saved me the extra month purchases I would have come back) So as I had thought I would be able to cancel the order before it automatically debited my account, I also didn't have the money in my account, and was added $35 more in bank fees. For those of you who have never had a job loss or been short on cash a $100 is probably nothing to you, but when you are struggling to get food, gas and shelter over yourself and your kids, $100 is A LOT of money to just throw away.
Exp K and Marybeth - You both say similar things but provide no verifiable information that someone needing to verify your story could use. Who did you talk with? What were their names? What number and ext did you dial to get to them?
I have canceled twice over the last 15 years and both times did so without any issues whatsoever. They do not send you what you do not want because by signing up you are signing up to convert your home to their products each month. If you sign up and then dont order anything, it is you that did not hold up your end of the agreement. They send you a back up order because you signed up asking them to send it if you didn't order. It protects you and makes sure you always have what you need.
You both had to sign up. They didn't steal you identity and randomly charge your credit card . You freely gave them your information permission and commitment to purchase from them. the only thing they appear t be guilty of is taking you at your word.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. In my experience, their customer service is among the worst I've ever encountered. Instead of valuing me as a customer, I felt as if they were putting me on the witness stand--it seemed they were intent in finding some fault with me in order to excuse their own bad behavior. The ethics of the matter---that I was charged for services and products I never received--did not matter to them. I am over fifty years old and can honestly say I've never experienced such horrendous customer service. I went all the way to Corporate Headquarters and still found the same negative customer service. They DO make it extremely difficult to cancel and the whole system is strongly geared to to give them the advantage. I am sure I will never see the $107 they auto-debited from my checking account when my status was inactive. I hope that my $107 is worth it to them because I will tell everyone I meet the bad experience I had and they couldn't pay me to be their customer again. I prefer to do business with people who value me as a customer and have a sense of integrity and a "the right thing to do" mindset to business matters.

I spoke to customer service twice. My opinion, they hope you just give up. I strongly advise against singing up for a automatic ship program. Also I feel the product is way over priced.
Ive canceled twice with Melaleuca over the years and had no problem doing so either time. I have also had MonaVie and Amway folks privately admit to me they come here and pretend to be Melaleuca customers to purposely mislead people...so take the complaints about Melaleuca with a grain of salt.

I have been a Melaleuca customer for eight years. I have had family and friends move oversea or decide they didn't want to order every month; I order their products for them. They only had to write a letter (no "form" required) with their name and membership number along with stating they wanted their membership cancelled. ALL of them had their membership cancelled with in thirty days. I have never had any problems with them replacing damaged products (because of the shipping company), replacing missing products (shipping company), or exchanging a product I didn't like (hydrating shampoo as opposed to clarifying).
The reason they cannot cancel by phone is because when you signed up you signed a contract (just like many other services like tv, phone, etc...Many people receive a monthly paycheck from Melaleuca...what would happen say if I called Melaleuca and said yeah cancel my account - pretending to be you? You would get pretty pissed off if you didn't receive your paycheck or any of your free products that month right? So they need you to fill out the form, so they know it's you and have the correct account, and they have your signature and permission to close the account.
It's not hard to do. Fill it out it's 1 sheet of paper and fax it in. I pay $1 to fax things so it's not expensive.
AND the products are SAFER Healthier for you, your kids and the environment. Most of them are a better price than what I was using before.
bad company?
I was just horrified when I discovered that a company shares its profits with the people who are loyal and shop every month! I prefer my precious Big-Box stores where I can buy a 3-6month supply and save just pennies. Of course, then I don’t have to remember to shop since I just bought 2ltrs of shampoo or 5lbs of raisins. That makes it very convenient when I have huge containers of products sitting around the house. It really makes me mad when a company like this offers an alternative to harsh and toxic chemical filled products. We should all buy the same name brand and generic products sold at stores like Wal-mert and Castco, because if a large company makes a product it’s got to be safe. Bleach is good for me right? If I cannot get a product for really cheep, then it’s probably not worth buying.
I have also heard all sorts of problems with the customer service. Albeit, many were from people who had never used the products or customer services. But, aren’t their opinions legitimate? I want to be able to cancel my account with the click of a button, that way there is none of those cumbersome security measures associated with cancelation. Even though there is no proof of illegal practices associated with Melaleuca, I am confident that opinion should just take the place of facts. How dare they practice business with ethics and morals! After all, we live in a society where profiteering is the job of large business. And how dare a smaller company not associate itself with the advertising business and pass the savings on to its customers. Slander and Liable are not enforced on the internet, so let’s all just blast away at as many businesses as possible. I understand people are pretty pissed off at Verizon, but then again; they only charge you $175 for early cancelation. We just accept that as part of “How the company runs.” With Melaleuca, people are very angry that you need to cancel your membership by a certain date. That sounds a lot like semantics. Who can really be responsible as a consumer to remember complicated contract jargon like, “Cancelations must be received in writing by the 25th.” That is so difficult to remember dates, and writing; who does that anymore? Oh, I just remembered. You could type a sentence and print it, sign it and put it in the mail box. Oh well, that all sound very challenging to me. I should probably just continue to be a blind lamb in the world of consumerism and never look at alternatives.

I have read the complaints. Like others I agree that some have had bad experiences because of people, not because of the company. I have been with the company for some time now (along with other members of my family and friends). There has never been any issues. I have had friends cancel without any problems. There has never been any unauthorized billing. The backup orders to maintain your membership were obviously not explained properly. I have had no problem maintaining my 35 product points per month, in fact, I am over 50 product points per month. My household consists of myself and my husband. Please do not condemn a company and their awesome products because things were not explained properly or you were not given full disclosure as to what is required to enjoy the discounts and awesome products of this company. I have just signed up for this company and am not interested in selling, just the products. I am very fearful that if i do cancel that they will keep charging my account. I did not do my research and signed up because I am into the whole natural thing. I do need honest feedback. Will my card be charged without my authorization and if i do cancel my account?
I was ordering products for over two years for me and my family and when I wanted to cancel they emailed me a form which I signed and faxed back and did not have any other problems, the products are very good but I didn't have time to market them.
I use Melaleuca products and love them. Their products are made in the USA and are very high quality. A preferred customer has to buy 35 points worth of products every month in order to maintain preferred customer status. Preferred customers get a discount on the products. It is not hard to reach 35 points. As a matter of fact, the items I ordered last month totalled about 80 points, and the same goes for what I want to order next month. Also, these are items we all use all the time anyway. Most of the things Melaleuca sells are things like
laundry detergent, bath soap, disinfectants, stain removers, vitamins, etc... I love the quality of their products and would much rather buy from them than places like Wal Mart, Target, or K Mart. I like the way their cleansers are concentrated so you actually end up diluting them and getting a lot more for your money. I also like that they don't have toxic fumes. They don't have things like ammonia, bleach, etc... in them. They are safer products and they smell awesome.
I have been a happy customer with Melaleuca for three years and I work with the Motivated Moms team. We ALWAYS show everyone a full presentation and give them all the information before they sign up. Also, you have to fill out and sign three different forms during the enrollment process so you would have known exactly what you were signing up for and it is all verified to make sure you understand. Not only that but we do not sell any products, we use them in our homes because they are safer for our homes and families and the environment and they are awesome and much better quality and we save money! Plus its a great way to build a residul income without ANY SELLING...But is is real work.. you cant join and do nothing adn expect a pay check .. this isnt a get rich quick.. its a work hard and earn your pay...and its worth it...

wasn't happy
I was not happy with Melaleuca and there was no way that I could fulfill the 35 product points a month. Also for a company claiming to be natural. I found the same ingredients in everyday personal products. I never used the cleaning products. I just could not afford to stay with them. I did not have a hard time canceling with them and I got out before I could get charged anything. Well I did make a first order and never got my money back from that (like $75.00) I am into using greener products and use alot of products that are natural. You were indeed tricked and I think what happened to you was very dishonest and deceptive but I don't know why you would post about that here as it has nothing to do with Melaleuca. Your complaint is about the person who lied to you by misleading you into thinking they had a regular trading time for money job.
Melaleuca is an income opportunity but the business model is very different than anything else out there. Its CDM is completely unique and it was very wrong to lead you to believe it was like a regular 9 to 5 job and frankly, does Melaleuca a dis-service. I agree that you were wronged, but the wrong was with whomever contacted you, not Melaleuca.
If someone found you on Craigs List and offered to sell you a Chevy Truck but when you got there you realized there was no truck at all, would you go to the Chevy complaints board and complain about it there? Same thing here. I would start a thread using the person's name who did it and then I would contact Melaleuca and tell them what happened because people can lose their business for being deceptive like that and stories like yours give those of us that are doing it correctly a bad name.
As a side, this is the latest in a long line of complaints on here that have nothing at all to do with Melaleuca and everything to do with a person trying to be deceptive in introducing someone to it. There needs to be personal accountability for actions and to blame Melaleuca lets the guilty individuals off the hook and soils Melaleuca's good name.
Lastly, you say you don't have the money to buy their products. That shows me that whoever talked to you really didn't know what they were doing because if they did they would have shown you that Melaleuca is no new money out of your budget at all. I just sat thru their hour long presentation today. I am not happy because I feel like I was tricked into this whole thing. First I received an email saying this person had found my resume online and wanted to interview me. She said it was for a pharmaceutical company that does their marketing online. I thought it sounded legit so I agreed to a phone interview. This person and her partner called me and interviewed me but never gave much information about what I would be doing if hired. I agreed to view their online presentation. At first I was excited because the speaker said there was NO COST to me. I didn't have to buy a thing. I thought the opportunity sounded good until they started talking about Melaleuca. I had heard of this company before and thought it might not be legit but I kept watching the presentation. At the end I found out I would have to buy their products every month and pay a $1.00 to sign up. After the presentation I spent 15 minutes listening to my interviewer tell me about all the different products I could buy. I am not going to do this, I don't have the money to buy their products. If you are thinking of doing this think about this before you sign up: If you get a job at a store are you required to buy their products to work there? I think you get the idea.
These comments would sure be a lot more credible if people weren't giving you a link to the company they want you to join in it. To link to a blog or a web site to try and recruit others obviously calls into questions the reality of the complaint.

Green Life For You... what part of " I am not, nor have I ever been involved with the Melaleuca Wellness Company" did you not understand? They purchased said from a flea market, therefore they are not bound to any agreement with Melaleuca, since they never made one to begin with. Once they purchase the products, it became THEIR property and by law they are entitled to sell them anywhere. Melaleuca reserves the right to cancel memberships or pursue legal action against anyone who has violated their terms of membership agreement, however, in this case, since no membership agreement was signed, they can legally sell to whomever they want. Any attorney with a shred of decency will tell you the same. The corporate attorneys bank on the fact that people are ignorant of the law and use bullying tactics, but in a court of law they don't hold weight. The products may be phenomenal as you stated, but the tactics they employ are shady at best.
It is clearly stated in the member agreement. Products are not to be resold. The Company gives a generous discount on their products, if you become a member. Yes, one must purchase a required number of products, of their choice, which is equal to a specific number of product points. If you order your products by the 20th. of each month, you will receive a discount. There are no stores that offer this type of discount. The Company offers many other perks as well. The Products are phenomenal, As for their Legal department contacting you, that is your fault. It is not your right to resell their products and make money.
I too have been harassed, by the Melaleuca Company. On ebay, I was contacted by Traci Yearsly...somehow they obtained my personal email address from Ebay and now their "corporate lawyer" Michael LeClare keeps sending me threatening emails. The company even called me AT MY HOME to "discuss the matter." I am not, nor have I ever been involved with the Melaleuca Wellness Company. I bought a large lot of products (several different brand names) at a flea market booth...and I know for a fact that the merchandise sold at that flea market booth is from a storage facility place that, instead of selling storage lockers like they do on tv, liquidates the contents of unpaid lockers at a flea market. I've explained the situation, in writing, several times with Melaleuca's corporate lawyer...yet, still, months of harassing emails. All their emails contain legal terms, but without context or any actual information-- they just take laws and beat you over the head without any regard for whether or not those laws actually apply. The ebay buyers who have bought from me send me thank you emails for selling them the product without them having to deal with the Melaleuca Wellness Company.
