It appears to me that Melaleuca has intentionally set up cancellation requirements which are designed to hinder and slow down their customers' ability to cancel their dreaded automatic "Back-Up" shipments. Let me explain. Melalueca has a policiy requiring that their customers must submits a request such as this in writing with a signatuere present on the...

Melaleuca automatic charges

My wife got scammed into signing up for this. Besides having outrageous prices ($26 for nothing more that a 16oz. bottle of glorified Lysol, or over $70 a month for their non FDA approved vitamins), when inquiring how to get out of this scheme, I got hassled by a snotty saleslady out of Blaine, MN. who called the cops on me for asking honest questions which she would answer! (Initials S.W.)
I would definitely steer clear of this outfit.

(Wah!) Not every single item you use will work perfectly for every type of stain. If you are so disatisfied, contact the company (you don't need the receipt), get a refund and go back to whatever product (apparently sent from heaven) you were previously using.

I've had no problem with the product.

Melaleuca does not sale Lysol for 26 dollars, thats is not real, be honest, Lysol is made by Proctor and Gamble.
second, FDA dont work with natural products, only with doctors prescriptions drugs, becaause the third cause of dead in america is prescriptions drugs, thas why FDA its checking the ingredients.

Melaleuca vitamins are the best, you can try it for 90 days, if you don feel the diference, will got your money back.

If this is such a bad company then why do the have an (A) rating with the BBB? Seems like these are just bogus complaints with no real basis of truth.

I think this complaint is all a bunch of crap. For those of you who have actually taken the time to read this far into this website please notice that most of these are just copied and reprinted several times under several different email addresses. They may be slightly changed but this is just someone who is vicious and has nothing better to do than to try to influence a stranger with their twisted stories.

FYI

The FDA does not approve vitamins or supplements of any kind. They are expensive, yes.
FDA approval means jack squat these days. Corporate interests own the FDA. Sorry about your bad experience.

One day after signing up, I learned on the internet what a scam this was. following their instructions I sent a certified letter, FAX and email to cancel. After reading many of the online complaints I tried to cover all bases. On November 22, 2008 I wrote:

"Please cancel my agreement made via internet on Friday November 21, 2008. Please cancel all and any agreements including but not limited to the three that were on the webpage. Cancel any orders, cancel any kits even though I did not make any orders or order anything, please cancel anything and everything that would have to do with me being a buyer, consumer, distributor, member or any other terminology used by your company. To clarify further, I cancel any type of agreement I could have with your company and do not authorize any charges to my credit card. Reason: Research of your company was negative."

Everything seemed OK and surprise - only in March, 2009 a charge showed up (were they hoping I wouldn't notice?) I disputed it with the credit card company and it was reversed. Now in April the same thing. the credit card company got them on a three way call and after reading the content of my letter they said I failed to cancel on their website! The credit card company ate the cost as Melaleuca refused. I agreed with the credit card rep to go online and cancel according to the instructions we were given on the conference call. Guess what? there is no cancel instructions.

finally I was able to cancel at http://myaccount.itapp.net/mymelaleuca/cancel
Real easy to find huh? Even though we were told we could just go to the melaleuca site and easily find the cancelation instructions.

What a scam!

Melaleuca charged for something didnt want

I was wanting to start working at home. Went on my facebook saw one of my friends who I had gone to school with known for a while, was looking for busienss partners to work at home. I inquired with her and fille dout the paper work but then thought about it for a day realized I didnt want to pressure people into buying products and then ask them to recruit people to sell the products also. called her with in the 3 day limit I was given to change my mind and told her I wasnt interested and to cancell my paperwork. She told me she had called and it was done. They dont tell you in the fine print that they also require a letter signed by you to close your acct. So now here it is a month and a half later and I am having checks bounce becaseu they automatically shipped me my monthly order which I have never placed an order or gotten anything from them. If you dont order something they just send you stuff and charge you because they require you to accumulate so many points a month. Stay away form this company!

ACDof3, You must have 75 points to be an active Director. There is no way to get 75 points from Melaleuca for less than $80.00 so for you to say you were a Director and then to say they took out $61.50? Sorry, your numbers are not adding up.

I agree with NLR, in our experience Melaleuca refunds very quickly and is fast to help whenever they can.

Melaleuca will give you your money back for any product that you dont want used or unused.
I find it hard to beleive that they wouldnt refund the money for your backup order as I have cancelled in the past and got a backup order, called and they told me to send the order back and refunded my money.
Not to mention that the backup order is stuff that you would have used anyways, keep it, use the products. They wont be sending any more, after you cancel your account.
And ferther more, if you cant afford to have your order and insurance payment come out at the same time...maybe leaving the business was a mistake.

I was a member of Melaleuca for a year but found in order to keep my director title I was spending more money than I was making each month and also found it dificult to order 70 points each month so with our finance the way they are now I decided it would be best to cancel my memership. I followed the rules sent a letter in writing an email and a phone call but still Melaleuca sent a "backup order" charging my depit card $61.50 causing our bank account to be overdrawn and our insurance payment to bounce and of course our bank charged us fees. I have called email and wrote Melaleuca on this issue over and over again and no one will help I even sent the "backup order" back unopened products untouched and Melaleuca still will not refund us our money they can't even take the time to speak with me or send a letter.

well, I've delt with melaleuca and yes they don't mentioned to you thay you need to mail out a letter! well i mailed that out! personally i liked the products only, problems is over priced! They do mentioned if you dont make your monthly order then you will be sent a back up order that is totally, is not what you want! and you can always change it! Not only that dont ever deal with annie carter! they also promote the work at home united program witch is so funny! because the whole training process all they say is you dont do anything just gather a list and and follow was scripted and convinced them to take a call with you ! and thats how they get you!
after, they also said that you will be with some kind of mentor! which never happened! no process was done..
meleleuca is fine.. just have to be careful and read everything and ask the questions to the right people!
JUST DONT DO THE BUSINESS ! WORK AT HOME UNITED!

This company charged my credit card twice without my knowledge ( the second time was a credit card # they did not have record of), keeps sending me order forms in mail( after I requested for them to remove me from their list ), and has just sent my old address a package with products that they want payment for... that I did not order... and I do not live...

Melaleuca they wont let me cancel...

I have been a customer for many years, paying them over 5, 000.00 dollars so far. They are a pyrimid type scam although I was never involved in suckering others into joining-
There products are generaly good however very overpriced.I have told them now several times and then followed their instructions by faxing my request to cancel.Tonight an hour on the phone with several of them was one of the greatest waste of time I have ever experienced.1st they hung up/disconnected on me.Then denied that I cancelled or sent a fax, then changed the story yet 2 or 3 more times.End of story, I can not quit since they do not have proof that I cancelled-regardless of my confirmation the fax was recieved. We are leaving the country in 10 days, for a year on an overseas mission, and told all of them that including Beth(the head supervisior she says -who sounds 22 and absoultley refused to give her last name)
Beth says too bad you can not cancel because we have not recieved your fax(and would not listen when I said I have the confirmation fax), and besides that alone does not cancel your account she says, it is the policy, you have a contract, I can not cancel your account, you will have 12 parcels on your step when you return, give the product to a neighbour, you can send the package back but we will charge you double shipping(how much I say-she says 16$ for a package -with 2 tiny items-another rip off of course) etc, she actually said I have spent 29 mins on the phone with you and can tell you are frustrated but there is nothing we can do.I asked is there anyone else I can speak with? No, she says, she is the most senior person, but I can email the ceo or anyone if I wish.
Great, thanks alot. What a bunch of idiots. And even worse they are scamming people without regret

I am not a Melaleuca customer. I am on this website because my roommate recently became persuaded to be a "director" and I wanted to do some research before deciding whether or not to help her out and become a member. So far the comments have been very disturbing about how difficult it is to quit Melaleuca after becoming a member. I have seen several very positive experiences, but I've also seen the same story repeated dozens of times about how hard it is to extract yourself if you feel like Melaleuca is not for you. Whenever the lady that signed my roommate up comes over to our house, I feel extremely awkward when they talk about Melaleuca. It's like a little weird cult that I am not a part of. I was invited to the same party my roommate was but thankfully did not go. My roomie just wanted to try their products and does not have an interest in being a director; however, the lady keeps pressuring her to hold parties and sell the idea of Melaleuca on other people. I feel their products are probably good products, I just don't appreciate the pressure this chic is putting on my roommate and I to be a part of this company. If it was so great, wouldn't we want to try it without being pressured? Just sayin.

I'm glad I have read a lot of these posts. Actually I was duped into listening to an hour long presentation of this company. A friend of mine, who is obviously a rep, told me he had been starting up a business and wanted to know if I wanted to sit in on his webcast to find out more information on health and wellness. I thought I was just going to sit in on listening to things about changing someones overall health, etc..
I get in on this "conference call" to realize it's not a "webcast" with a bunch of people listening to his whole business, but a 3 way call while I view a power point type presentation online and he doesn't even actually talk at all, it's some other lady who he called on 3-way who must have gotten him into this business. So right off the bat, I was never told I was going to be listening to an hour long presentation on a company called Melaleuca, let alone that I was going to be asked to buy anything. That in itself is pretty misleading to me.

Then behold this conversation in which we start off with some 6 minute youtube video from the CEO of this company, and starting off talking about what products I use and what would be beneficial for me and my family..I kinda began to get the idea, I was going to be asked to buy stuff. Although the information given to me was very informative and some information I didn't know before this, I should have been alerted that this was going to be the case from the get-go.

Afterward, I was asked if I wanted to buy into being a customer or as a rep, and of course, since I already have a high powered job, I was not interested in making extra money, so I said possibly a customer. They went on to talk about how easy ordering was, how much of a convenience it was to have the products shipped to your home instead of having to venture out shopping, how beneficial the products were and how safe for your family, etc..And I was told something about a point system, but they never fully explained to me that in signing up you would be monthly contracted to spending so much money or else it would be charged anyways. They did say something about a back-up order to make, but I didn't know that was why. I just thought it meant something about if you forgot products, or if you wanted to keep track of products you liked. Nothing was fully explained to me. Now everyone can say, you just had a bad sales rep in my case, and you'd probably be right, but if this is the case, I see from all the things I read online about customers have bad experiences, have had the same bad reps who did not give them the proper details, which sounds like a good majority of reps are corrupt and do not care about getting the proper information out there. So why isn't that company making sure it's reps are giving them a good name since this company is suppose to be built on a word of mouth type campaign and marketing gimmick? I mean, you'd think from all the complaints that have arose from angry customers, that if this was in fact not a scam, they'd be doing more to ensure that their reps were not doing things to bring this companies integrity down.
I, fortunately, decided it wasn't for me, and did not sign up, but what about all the unfortunate people who have by these people, who everyone else seems to call bad reps, and cannot seem to get out of the deal no matter how many times they've tried. Something stinks whether you people want to admit it or not. And if it isn't Melaleuca stinking than they should try harder to make sure their word of mouth wellness company is being promoted and represented by people who will only shed good light on their company. Seems like a pretty easy concept to me, but it sounds like this company is more interested in money than they integrity of their company.

lol all MLM's and Pyraminds are direct selling and referral business it is just another name for it. Im not cutting MLMs down they are great but you deffantly need to do more research before signing up to one. As for Melaleuca there are tons of bad reviews and people in the business need to do more study before telling people false info.

You can cancel by fax by the 25th of the month. I have done it for my friend. There are no formaldyhydes or parebens. The products cost less per use than any name brands in the store, and they are far better.

The person who didn't know how to cancel could have just picked up her phone and called the customer service number on the bakc of the catolog which she gets in her order every month. they wuold have told her just to fax over a note that says "I want to cancel my account. My name and phone number is__________then sign it. If she has paid over 5, 000 it has been her choice and she will miss the products when she quits, and mark my words, she will be back.

I am a Melaleuca business builder, and every single person I have come across who has used Melaleuca in the past always wants to sign up again. 95% of customers order every month until they die.

I have never been in such a great business. Easiest thing I have ever done. And the products have improved my help so much. Have lost over 30 pounds using the crave blocker shake and I feel so good using the vitamins and provex cv. Have fibromyalia, and now I am swimming an hour a day. Love the makeup and skin care.

Email me for how to join as a customer, or build a business that will last a lifetime. Not a pyramid or MLM, consumer direct marketing, a referral business, we sign people up to order online or by phone. Every month you order you not only save about 50% over grocery store prices and get superior products, you get $20 in FREE products. susangaycarter@yahoo.com

Thanks for the info. I also found out that Melaleuca:
Not only is their makeup loaded with Parabens, but they put dimethicone in almost all of their personal care lines. (Dimethicone is synthetic emollient that is a known tumor promoters and accumulates in the liver and lymph nodes.

It is also non-biodegradable, causing negative environmental impact) There is formaldehyde in the childrens line. While formaldehyde is wonderful for persevering cadavers, I would prefer to not have that absorbed into my child's skin! There are xenoestrogens in their Body Satin line. Anything that is absorbed into the skin is 10 times that of an oral dose.

Anyone can cancel any month when you send a resignation letter BY MAIL. The company must receive the letter by the 25th of any month. It is my understanding that the company does not accept a fax for resignation purposes because they need an actual signature.

Melaleuca rip off

I tried to cancel my account after using their vitamins for over 2 years. After not finding a way on their site I called customer service. I was told they needed me to mail in my signature to cancel the account. I asked what would happen if I stopped ordering every month. They told me they would continue to charge me and send me products automatically.

I asked for a supervisor, because I don't need to jump through hoops to cancel an account. The supervisor told me the same thing, stating it was in the agreement I signed. It is in fact at the very end of their 5 page agreement, after two sections of fine print.

I finally gave up with customer service and completed the written document with signature. When trying to locate my account number as required for cancellation, it was nowhere to be found on their site. So I again had to call customer service.

Even though they were more than happy to accept my electronic signature to sign up, they want to delay my cancellation by making t hard to cancel, and making me mail them a hand written document. The is a deceitful practice and people should think twice before signing up for their products.

I was with Melaleuca for a couple of months and realized this wasn't for me. I sent them a notoarized cancellation letter and then canceled my credit card because I was warned that Melaleuca would continue to keep you stuck with them by shipping and charging you stuff you didn't order. WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW! ITS TRUE!

After notarized hand written cancelation letter and canceled credit card I get confirmation a few days later saying they have recieved cancellation. Then a few days after that I get a email saying products have been shipped. WHY DID THEY DO THAT, THERES NO WAY TO CHARGE ME!

The crap arrived and then came the phone calls crying for there $72 bucks I told them send me the money and I would ship it back because I DIDN'T ORDER THIS! She said there policy was that I ship it back at my expense and she would credit my account. Fine whatever to get you people off of me, so I sent them there stuff back via priority mail with signature confirmatin.

And you know what these extortionist are still call wanting another $7 bucks and change to officially close the acount. PEOPLE STAY THE HECK AWAY!

I have all emails and confirmations to verify everyting I went through.

Melaleuca fraud and scam

I've recently read a string which I believe to be misinformed consumers... I have been a Melaleuca customer (not a sales agent) for more than 6 years now. I can honestly say that my family is one of the healthiest in our neighborhood (my daughter was one of two children with perfect attendance at her school last year). I truly feel that these products are superior to anything else on the market, especially considering the low cost. Prior to purchasing Melaleuca my daughter was in the hospital with RSV, and we all had major allergies (most likely associated with indoor pollution). In the last several years we are the picture of health. To all that are bashing the company... all I can say is maybe you haven't really done your research. In my years with Melaleuca, we've had two shipping errors which were promptly and easily resolved. Customer Service is obviously a priority for this service. Take care and stay HEALTHY!

Fraud, Scam or whatever people say really doesn’t matter. Or maybe, people don’t read the “out clause” or terms and conditions before signing their name on the dotted line. It does not matter. Here are the Facts about Melaleuca, they sold over a BILLION DOLLARS last year worth of products, so people must like their products, right? Nowadays, no matter what business you go into, it’s products, products, products.

Pyramid systems have been outlawed in the US a long time ago and they don’t even sell any products at all. Melaleuca has over 350 products. Don’t let people mislead you; this is NOT MLM or no “break aways.” Melaleuca works because they don’t advertise and don’t have any distributors (buy products to sell). All we do is word of mouth advertising, you like the product you share it! In turn, we are paid just for referring people to Melaleuca and helping them register and that’s it! The savings in advertising is their revenue sharing program, simple. We have no inventory control, no billing, no carrying of products. We are paid on immediate commissions with several tiers of bonuses and handsome residual income, how GREAT is that!

This is not a lottery, people work at it. If you can find a system that will make you money without working for it, let me know, I’m interested. They have paid out over 2.8 Billion in commissions to regular people out there in the past 27 yrs. What is really great about Melaleuca is they genuinely want to HELP. This is Very Rare for a corporate identity. Helping people better their health; getting them out of debt; having a good personal life and preserving our environment for our children, is that a BAD goal to have?

This is more than a business for most of us. You really have to experience Melaleuca, and when you do, you too would fall in love with them, just like the more than 850 thousand families that have joined them. Sorry, but it’s hard to find sad story’s telling lies here. What you will find are people’s experiences in how lives have changed because of Melaleuca. If you have time, take a peek at this http://youtu.be/F3FewVDiFkw

A Successful Melaleuca breeds successful people and it’s not too late to team up with us. If you want to succeed and willing to work and if you think you are coachable, “We Will Help” because Melaleuca wants us to. We are just starting, when a laid off woman made about $ 84, 000 in less than a year, you know it works.

Facts are facts but if you have more questions, give me a call anytime; Tony [protected]. If NOT, then, Good Luck on your travels and I hope you find contentment!

There is nothingout there on the market that compares either in quality or price. It is made very clear what the process is and how your cc is charged. This should not be a suprise to anyone unless YOU'RE not listening to what the rep is telling you. So many people get involved with things and then are suprised when what they were told comes to fruition. People need to pay attention and read the information you're given. I am very seriously thinking about getting back into it. I have yet to find a stain spray or laundry detergent that works even half as well.

Well, seems so much anger but no one taking responsibility...

When you join you AUTHORIZE Melaleuca to charge you CC and send you a backup order. Some may say that is wrong but I know of one Melaleuca member who forgot to order one month and had so much fun getting the box (not knowing what to expect) he didn't order on purpose for 18 months, having fun each month seeing what was sent. The company knows their products last and last so they make sure you get different things each month so you don't end up with a back log.

I wonder if the people with these negative comments are being really fair to the company and true to their experiences. This company would not have been around so long with such an outstanding track record if the pattern was as described in some of these negative comments.

Either way, blessings and wellness to all.

I know of several people that have canceled their "preffered" status with Melaleuca and had NO PROBLEM in doing it. ( kind of a bummer losing them ) but it wasn't for them. The 35 point commitment that was agreed to is not a rip/off, it's actually DESIGNED specifically to save you money.
Even the most frugal of people have to agree that spending $50-$60 dollars a month to have safer and in most cases more effective productS in there home is much better than spending $100-$300 dollars on less effective product each month.
If you were to take an honest look at what you are really spending on (ALL) of these products you would realize that THERE REALLY IS NO WAY TO FIND A BETTER BUSINESS OR PRODUCT!

Since Melaleuca depends on people to market directly to others, you will always have the potential of people not explaining how it works properly. I'm pretty sure every compaint i have ever seen online can be traced back to an original person presenting it wrong in the first place, not a fult of the company.

You get a lot of benifits from being a committed monthly customer and by singing up, you are indeed committing to 35 points of product a month. When I enroll people, believe me, they are very clear on that. I have then repeat it back to me a couple times as we go to be sure they grasp it even.

It's not the "deep dark secret" that people on here try to make it out to be, it's simply what Melaleuca requires if you are going to be "Preferred" and get all the benifits of that. My family stuggles to stay under 200 points a month for goodness sakes, 35 is childsplay if you indeed do switch stores like you are agreeing to do.

When you commit to the monthly minimum, they respond by giving you discounts and loads of other nice benifits. Unfortunately, some people dont disclose this properly in the presentation and people sign up with the wrong impression. Then when they don't order like they leagally agreed to do, they do get the automatic order and Melaleuca (like any other company on earth) charges for their product.

This creates the situations you read about on here.

As with anything in life, there are great honest people haveing wonderful success with Melaleuca. Saddly, there are also people who like to cut corners and not explain things fully.

I can't control anyone else but I can assure everyone reading that if you enroll in Melaleuca, and you read everything in your business kit from start to finish, and you do things to the letter as the company lays it out for you to do, you will indeed be very sucessful.

Melaleuca must be judged on what it laims itself to be, if I can help in that process for you, I'd be happy to.

If you read all the complaints on Melaleuca carefully, they are not about sending the wrong items or sending to the wrong addresses, etc. The complaints here and other places online are mostly about unauthorized credit card charges, their autoship program and how hard it is to close an account.

Melaleuca makes you jump through hoops to cancel an account. If they happily allow electronic signature when signing up to be a Preferred Member, why can't they accept electronic signature when you want to close your account? Why make it SO hard to cancel an account? You have to call, fax and/or mail your signed letter by the 25th of the month to close an account. They also make it hard to send the items back. The following complaint sums it up well:
Melaleuca — difficult to cancel auto shipments
Obviously, Melaleuca does this on purpose to delay the process of cancellation, so they can suck more money out of their customers. They may have some great products (though it can be expensive to folks like myself who is frugal). However, I agree their business side is not very ethical. To be fair, I don't think Melaleuca is a pyramid scheme. It is a legit MLM company. However, I think their stuff can be a rip-off.

What low costs? Melaleuca first of all is kind of expensive, if you consider those people that count their pennies like my self Meleleuca products are not cheap you have to be honest too you know. And based upon of what I read on this site and other sites as well, Melaleuca's method of doing business regarding credit card charges without a warning to your account is unacceptable and bad business; furthermore, not only making credit card charges without a warning, but making it difficult for people to cancel their account and get thier money back sending them into a wild goose chase having them make phone calls and faxes (that in some cases they don't recieve) while still charging your account and sending unwanted items to your home. That's all just bad business, or just a bad experience.

My sister in-law has exchanged 2 different items in the short time she has been with this company(few months), on both occasions shipping was free for the replacement items and they didn't require her to send back the unwanted items. One of the exchanges was an acne product that was to strong for her, they sent a different product and gave her a refund. She gave the unwanted acne creme to her brother(which has severe acne) and he had extremely favorable results in just days. 2 BANGS FOR $0 BUCKS... THAT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A COMPANY THAT IS HARD TO DEAL WITH! Unlike the majority these days with awful CUSTOMER SERVICE, I'm lucky to get a correct order from the drive thru 75% of the time.

Melaleuca very unprofessional company

Melaleuca Company was totally unprofessional when solicited to help solve a customer request. Over the phone they did not even try to accommodate customer's request. When requested to speak with a manager, the client was refused first and only after insisting was transferred to another person, same lack of professionalism and willingness to help.

By the third person in command line, the story become exhausted and no acceptable resolution offered. None of all these 3 company representatives gave all, complete, accurate and useful information at the time of the conversation. A next call placed by the customer 24 hours later revealed the latter part of the information not mentioned yesterday. The company did not even tried to collaborate in a professional manner. A total refuse was all they could do.

Customer service representative transfered the customer to an answering machine after failing for the second time in a row to collaborate and offer something to the unfair treated customer.

Kelk, I agree... I actually had a gal tell me privately that she went to boards like this and posted anti-melaleuca stories because she was mad at her boyfriend who was doing well with it.

It's sad that people make up stuff like this.

I think this complaint is all a bunch of crap. For those of you who have actually taken the time to read this far into this website please notice that most of these are just copied and reprinted several times under several different email addresses. I have been a customer for over 5 years and have called the company on a few occasions with a complaint about a product, generally the packaging or something spilling while shipped. The customer service representatives have ALWAY bent over backwards to make a mends or find an amicable solution. They in my opinion have always been way more generous that I expected or required. Customer service with Melaleuca is top notch, always above and beyond.

Theres clearly a lot more to this story than meets the eye.

I have been with Melaleuca for 3 years now, and have never known them to refuse a customer request unless it the customer was being unreasonable and/or requesting something that would have caused a policy violation if granted. Melaleuca is pro-customer and pro-business builder, but it will never compromise on principles. Some customer requests can not be granted; all companies have that discretion.

Most call centre staff would not refer a customer directly to a Manager, but rather the next in command in the hierarchy, like a team lead or supervisor.

If you could be more specific as to the nature of your complaint or problem, perhaps we could be able to judge if the company was unfair or not.

Melaleuca terrible experience

Melaleuca has been a wonderful company to me and many others I've meet. The products are wonderful and the people that I've interacted with have been amazingly positive people. If you are looking for a 'negative' aspect in a business, you can find that very easily. Every business will have bad reports on even the most top rated products. As I've done my personal research for the business, I find that the negative comments are far less then the positives. It sounds like many people have been approached and pushed by the wrong people. I can understand how this would put a bad taste in one's mouth. You'll find these people in any business and walk of life. I hope that people are not just researching looking only for the 'negative' side of Melaleuca or any other business. I'm not here to change your mind. Just trying to put a positive aspect in some of your thoughts. Good Luck! Enjoy the world.

What about, if this is true, the alleged scams about not seeing the contract, or not being able to cancel the contract. Those are no-nos. I wouldn't sign or agree in any way, unless I saw it first. Also, I don't trust distance nor close business relationships without some kind of contract, should it be required. Common sense and do some kind of business law studying (I took a class, at least I'm a step ahead).
So, there's competition? Oh, I'm looking for that business without much competition. I'm going to use my MARKETING (15 years') experience to briefly research Google to find out how many people are searching for malaleuca, or the other product names that may show up.
The way I was contacted? Someone saw my resume. Is that how it's done?
I'm off to research and be more than neutral when I'm done. Thanks for reading. Hope I made some common sense.

I agree that there are complainers all over the place, no matter what the topic. Anyone who actually takes the time to try the Melaleuca products and to compare them to the competition will quickly discover the difference in quality and performance. The people who complain either did not actually try the products, they did not read their membership literature that they received when they joined, or they did not follow the instructions. Notice that of the thousands and thousands of happy Melaleuca customers, there arevery few complaints, and those few complaints are usually from new people who did not thoroughly understand what is at their fingertips. They should start by carefully watching the "Delivering Wellness" DVD, and then try the products themselves, before getting so critical and jumping to conclusions with insufficient knowledge.

If you do your research on a company and explore what YOU are looking to get out of the company and then put for the honest EFFORT that is required to be successful, how can you loose? If you do, well than generally you only have yourself to blame. No company is perfect, but Melaleuca surly has a good handle on what is most important in life, the business JUST happens.

I agree, look at some of the other businesses. Most have complaints and you never see a board with the positive experiences. There are people in this company that do push too hard but for the majority of the people there are those that are truly concerned with the environment. I have not heard on complaint from anyone that we deal with that has tried and even left Melaleuca for their own personal reasons. Not one person has had to go through these hoops as described, nor have they been cajoled by Customer service to answer question.

People don't understand. If you have a bad attitude with customer service reps it makes their job harder and their attitude just reflects yours.

Melaleuca scam charges

I wrote a review back in May about Melalueca it was titled They wont let you cancel once you joined and still try to charge! I was pretty heated about the whole ordeal. Since then I have gotten Some people post comments that were way out of line, Saying if you were more calm and understanding about it they would have helped you! In my defense I was very patient with everyone, i understood the situation. yes i was at some fault for dealing with my 2 and 1 year old at the time of the 10 min. phone recording once you joined about cancellation and the process i even told her just call back in 10 min! and yes i was at fault for giving in and joining when i really didn't want to. But, I didn't want to owe money in the first place so why be mean to people who were trying to help resolve the whole issue? i did get some very rude people they would call until 11 at night saying that if i didn't pay it, it was going on my credit report. Some of the people i talked to were very kind! Others not so much I joined on the 12th of March.

I repeatedly talk to my sponsor via instant message and e-mail and even phone. when i told her i wanted to cancel on the 20th which was 8 days later she never once said by the 25th. I had actually called the company itself to cancel. Like i said i called every time after I faxed the letter to make sure they got it on the 24th almost 7 times. I have heard people saying that oh they did you a favor by letting you fax it. but obviously it didn't do me any good because 6 hours later and 10 dollars out the letters never got there.

I also mailed about 3 letters! not even days apart from each other. The only one they got was the registered one I sent and paid 5 dollars to send it! So yes there was a few really kind service people and i told them they were for trying to help! But the harassing phone calls and a 18 dollar debt collection later I think was over the limit. More power to you if you love the Company or been with them for years! i am not saying everyone who work with them are bad just they do have some very rude people who have no respect for honest mistakes. So before you respond about how i didn't take the time to be nice or i should have thanked people for trying to help, know the situation. and everyone has different experiences and that is what this site is for to list the good and the Bad and mine was one of the bad.

You want to respond being rude go ahead! because if you want to help delete it from my credit report i still have all the paper work and who i talked to filed in my office. I even have smilies written by the people who were nice and tried to help i have written the names of representatives that called at like i said 11 at night using threats about my credit report trying to get me to pay it. So if you want to look at me file go ahead. But don't respond saying it was my fault when all you heard was just the events i went through with the situation! I actually spent more trying to cancel than what they charged on my credit report. I am not some Irrate Crazy lunatic who just wants to down a company. wrote my experience and how it happen. If you want to stick up for the company thats okay but let people write the good or bad reviews without the whole "justice league ordeal."it is our right to write our experiences and there is a bad side to every company!

I have been with Melaleuca for over 13 years. I have around 700 families in my organization. Our company grew by nearly half a million this year alone and it's only April. We keep 96.3% of every new member that joins because they love our company and products. Some people make mistakes, drop the ball and look for someone else to blame. It's their nature, sad as it is. It is not hard to terminate a membership with Melaleuca. They won the Blue Torch Award with the Better Business Bureau for having strong customer service. The truth is good enough. Lies won't slow us down.

if this is a complaint board then why are people who love this company on this website? why would you google complaints about your beloved company? instead of sitting here bashing people who have had a bad experience, which is what this board and website is for, get back to promoting your overpriced hoax of a product. looks to me like the people dogging the complaints work for melaleuca and are trying very hard to prove people wrong to save their company name. are you the same people that call and harrass about money and cancellations? sounds to me like this company is hounding people for money constantly and pressures you into ordering more stuff. last time i checked walmart doesn't call me or harrass me to shop at their store when i don't need anything.

My wife got scammed into signing up for this after a so called “friend” saw her on Face book. She no sooner said hi when she was cajoling her into joining this pyramid scheme. That’s how they make their money, signing as many people as they can. Besides having outrageous prices ($26 for nothing more that a 16oz. bottle of glorified Lysol, or over $70 a month for their non FDA approved vitamins, $20 for 10 breakfast bars), when inquiring how to get out of this scheme, I got hassled by a snotty saleslady ("Director') out of Blaine, MN. (initials S.W.)who called the cops on me for asking honest questions about how to quit which she wouldn’t answer! Plus they automatically charge your credit card a $60 minimum a month even if you don’t order anything. They just pick out some crap and send it. From what I read on other posts, it's very difficult to quit this pyramid scheme, having to send them certified letters and hoping it reaches the right people.

I would definitely steer clear of this outfit.

I have been in Melaleuca for 17 years, and I am an average customer, who gets a liile bit back every month. I have had numerous customers in which I have helped them open a melaleuca
account, and have never had trouble with people cancelling their accounts. I once even had someone get reimbursed for the initial membership kit after 9 months. yes Melaleuca gave them back their money for the kit after 9 months. Now that was many years ago and I know that is not the policy anymore, but you can cancle anything and get your money back. I also had someone who cancelled but they faxed it in too late in the month, so they got the order and was charged. We called melaleuca and arranged to send it back and the credit card was reimbursed. MELALEUCA is a fine reputable company, 26 years old and is one of the safest honest and ethical home based direct marketing companies out there. Melaleuca is an honset and ethical company. Consider this: these comments are posted on this site called complaint board. Complaint board is a dot com company, that it appears to me sells ads. I just joined an hour ago so this site is new to me. The ads that you may click from this site that everyone is complaining from may lead you to companies that at are real scams or have bad products, would never ever make it to be a 26 year old company or have the fine leadership that the Melaleuca company has.

Melaleuca is about the farthest thiing from a pyramid scheme that there is... first of all pyramids are illigal schemes that very often involve no product at all.. second of all it is a great company that has won awards from the BBB and others. I have been a happy customer with Melaleuca for three years and I work with the Motivated Moms team. We ALWAYS show everyone a full presentation and give them all the information before they sign up. Also, you have to fill out and sign three different forms during the enrollment process so you would have known exactly what you were signing up for and it is all verified to make sure you understand. Not only that but we do not sell any products, we use them in our homes because they are safer for our homes and families and the environment and they are awesome and much better quality and we save money! Plus its a great way to build a residul income without ANY SELLING...But is is real work.. you cant join and do nothing adn expect a pay check .. this isnt a get rich quick.. its a work hard and earn your pay...and its worth it... I have received a paycheck every month since I became a customer!
Also you are already shopping somewhere each month... are you not already buying shampoo and cleaners and vitamins somewhere? why not buy ones that are non toxic and that actually work...? They do not take money from anyones account each month.. they take payment that you authorize for the products that you personally order.. you dont ever have to stock inventory ...AND you can quit at any time, you have no contract and the customer service is great, so if its not for you send in a letter and request to cancel.. that's it... honeslty people need to be educated about things and not spout off about things they dont understand...
I have also never had an issue with customre service.. everything is a 100% money bakc guarentee!

I work for a pyramid scheme and I am at the top. I own the company! And to tell you the truth I am looking forward to being part of the Melaleuca team. I agree that not everyone will be happy with every product they purchase but you can always buy something different. When you go to Cub and get a stale loaf of bread do you go on line and tell everyone that Cub is evil? No, you go back to cub and return the bread or just throw it out to the birds. Look at what we spend in this country on junk, millions every day on product that have ingredients in them that you can't pronounce. Going green and being environmentally safe is on every label and you don't even know who the company is. Do you really know what works and what dont? Try washing your clothes without soap once, they still come clean so do you really need the soap? the dryer sheets make them smell go so what do you do? Life is about choices, you make them or you don't. If I don't like the company I will walk away, if I like it I'll stick around, byt I sure in the hell won't listen to some nut case who bought a tube of tooth paste and didn't see immediate results from a lifetime of coffeee drink stains.
Form your own opinions, try different things in life, be yourself, if you are worried about what people think about what you are doing don't tell them, and don't [censor] because you didn't make one million by signing up with a company in your first month. the people who helped me out are really people, I know them and I trust them, sweet, down to earth family people who are only trying to make life a little bit better and a little bit easier.
All you nay-sayers, when I see you on the road with your sign I'll have some extra change for ya.

The guy that placed the complaint is so lost and off base. Firt of all the I think he is talking about a different company or can't read. Their vitamins are $19.99. I have been a customer for years and that is exactly what I pay. Secondly, the company has an A rating with the BBB so it is not a scam. They have been endorsed by the US Chamber of Commerce and CNN. Their products are concentrate so I save money over WalMart. I wouldn't shop any where else!

This is the "complaints board", not the "mix your opinion with half truths to discredit a good company out of personal retaliation" board. I support a site like this but rrobinett, you are no different than the many posters on here who try to say their bank tried to steal from them by charging an NSF fee when in reality, they simply overdrew their account and the bank did nothing remotely wrong at all.

You claim to be in eCommerce yet you don't know that everyone from airlines to shipping companies charge you fuel surcharges? You keep changing the amount you "have to spend" from $60, $70 and even over $80 in one of your posts when the fact is Melaleuca's back up order is $50.49 and has been that for years and years now.

You keep trying to infer shady or dishonest dealings to potential new customers with comments like how hard it is to find the customer ID number when in reality it's plainly listed in the "my account" portion of your free online account. It is also clearly printed on every product invoice, plus it is always available by calling and asking for it.

You infer information might be unsafe yet again this is unfounded. In 25 years Melaleuca has never lost so much as a single credit card number or social security number. To the best of my personal knowledge, no bank can make that claim. In fact, most of Melaleuca's employees don't even have access to that information, let alone myself or anyone else. When your information is entered there, it turns into stars on the screen of the person entering it.

I asked for a Customer ID number because a lot of your basic information is wrong. Your amounts, your claims about company policy, just lots of incorrect information leading me to believe you have a hidden agenda and since I think the average person reading this wouldn't know your info is wrong, it becomes a fairness issue that some accountability is introduced to your claims.

You don't like them and you don't want anyone else to join them. We get it. That doesn't change the fact that you simply refuse to take personal responsibility for misleading Melaleuca into thinking you wanted their products. You contacted Melaleuca after talking to someone about them. You entered into an agreement to buy their products and they entered into the same agreement to ship you exactly what you asked for in good faith believing you were honest and sincere.

They are human and certainly make mistakes. No one would ever claim any company on earth is flawless 100% of the time, but you didn't have to sign up. You could have said no. You could have explained to the person who introduced you that you were uneasy or at least needed more information. You did none of those things.

If your issue is that you didn't know what you were getting into, how is that not ultimately your responsibility? It's YOUR account with Melaleuca for Heaven's sake. It's your responsibility to read and understand the polices as they clearly say to each and every person who gets enrolled by phone. If you enrolled online or on paper, you digitally sign or give a physical signature to the contract to purchase and however you enroll you personally pick out which back up order you want them to send you if you don't order...

Sooooo, you contacted them, told them you wanted to become a customer, enrolled as such, personally picked out a back up order and committed to purchase their products. They agreed to let you and entered into the agreement with you. Now that is all twisted around as they did something wrong. I think it's pretty clear to the objective reader that doesn't have an axe to grind against Melaleuca exactly where you are coming from.

Well Mark, Do you have access to the Melalueca database? If so - asking someone to post their account information on an online forum doesn't seem like the right thing to do? I do not know you- or if you having that number will give you access to my birthdate, credit card information, address and everything I provided to Melalueca. I am sure Melalueca would not like you asking for that number in a public forum if you do have access to that information.

I do not sell Amway- nor do I participate in any other "multi- tiered" businesses.

My accountnumber is an eight digit number- that seems pretty hard to find on the website. It is on the invoice, but just like membership cancellation information - not easy to find on the website. The confliction of web based information and paper invoices, contracts is pretty beneficial to Melaleuca. There seems to be a lot of people who's requests are late- or get lost because "in the mail"- and don't make the deadline of "the 25th of the month". I cannot say I have ever seen a company mix online information and paper information like that and I am in Ecommerce. I have also never been charged a "fuel charge" on top of shipping handling and tax- fuel for what? shipping?

No, this post is about MY experience, and if it helps someone make a decision or if they question hastily signing a contract of a highly motivated "sales builder" then I have done some good.

Well Mark-- I am not going to post my Customer account number on here because I am not sure that my personal information will be secure- Its ridiculous to ask someone to do that. Do you have access to the Melalueca database with my birthdate address, credit card info.. ? If so - its probably not in your best interest to ask anyone to provide this information openly online.

Its an eight digit number, that's actually hard to find if you can find at all on the website when you place your order, you can find it on the invoice, but its strange to me that its not clearly findable on the website as well. Its the confusion of paper contracts and web based information that Melaleuca seems to use to its advantage.

Why would I make up being a Melaleuca customer? I did like a few of their products- some of them I thought were pretty
over priced and paying an additional price for a nozzle was alarming. I was a big fan of the Sol-u mel cleaner.

I don't think its clear to the average consumer who gets hit up by this "multi -tiered " business that you are signing a contract to spend a certain amount every month. This amount gets more confusing to a customer in the beginning because its turned into "points" instead of a total cash amount. This is of course a tactic used to make it seem like you aren't spending 60 -70 bucks a month- my order was around 88 bucks adding the shipping/handling and sales tax. and "fuel charge". ( I have never seen a fuel charge on another companies invoice- fuel for what? to ship it to me? )

There are so many things I can add about their marketing practices - and I have tried to on this website where I see Mark "attempting to sell the kool aid" and acting like people are not as smart as he is. Again - it is MY personal experience.

Also there are many websites where people "soil" the Melaleuca name- not hard to find.

Melaleuca scam and lies

I signed up for melaleuca under the understanding that I would make money because 'everybody would buy this stuff'. Well after the first few months of limitless phone calls and countless hours of unpaid work. I am disabled in a wheelchair and I have 3 children, 1 terminally ill, and 1 with autism. My husband is my full time caregiver and we receive less than a thousand a month for disability for a family of 5.

After 6 months of being forced to spend at least $50 per month mandatory on their overpriced products (which some were 'ok' but not worth the price) I sent a cancellation letter explaining we could no longer afford to put any more money or time into their company. I also informed the person who signed me up and they harassed me to no end to 'hang in there' that we would soon be richer than we ever dreamed of... blah blah blah.

The next month a package shows up on my doorstep and lo and behold they charged my credit card $65! I called the company and they claimed never to have got my cancellation letter and it cosed me another $12 to send the products back! (I was out nearly $30 from shipping costs which were not refundable)

Again I sent another letter, this time certified, and the following month another package arrives! And may I add, due to these charges it made us short and late on our rent every month for 4 months in a row causing our landlord to have to cancel our lease.

In the course of that 4 months 9 letters were sent 3 registered, 2 certified and notarized and 4 regular (I have all receipts) And all were received but not claimed to have been received and when I called asking for the mail dept and the person who signed for them I was told they no longer work for melaleuca... blah blah blah...

We finally lost our beautiful home and as a result could not find an accessible place and had to resort to living out of our van and using the ymca to shower, and the library for homeschooling our children and use of the computers.

We have now been homeless for 2 months and yet Melaleuca continues to send packages to our old address even though 2 have been sent back (no longer at this address) and they continue to charge our credit card, once for the package (our mandatory backup order + return shipping). I have even faxed and received faxed confirmations that they received our cancellation and they continue to charge us! They were even so bold as to automatically renew our contract without my permission! I have not received even a penny of refund from them (only excuses that I have to call their long distance number as they cannot transfer me to that dept... and I do not have a cell phone or long distance card.) They even have it in their records that we are homeless and we are still getting charged money we cant afford and useless empty apologies and excuses why we cant get our money back.

So, if you see the word melaleuca, TURN AND RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

First of all, to use the username "Melaleuca" on here is a violation of Melaleuca's online policies. That with the overall tone of the previous poster's message leads me to believe they want you to contact them for different reasons.

Who enrolls you is VITAL! Choose carefully who you let enroll you, make sure they have a plan for you!

Hi, so this is the way to get out of this company if for some reason you call it quits. You should know not all the people are unsuccessful in making money from this company. Two thing you should know is you must work hard to get your money, i mean you really must work hard. This isn't a company to be in if your not determined to work you butt off. Second thing you should know is you must ABSOLUTELY use a credit card, no bank account or any personal account. Credit Cards are much safer in case they continue to charge.
What you do is go door to door, sort of speak and show the products to customers and if they like what they see they will buy or join and become a member. By being referred by you they gain discounts and your gain profit.

Now if your unable to make profit, due to lack of work, because again you must work hard to become successful in this business.

Here are the steps.
Call Melauleca The Wellness Company and ask that you want to cancel the membership.
Tell them a reason not relating to your non profit.
Example tell them your not completely satisfied with the products, or you or your customers became allergic.
Write your letter of cancellation and send with priority and tracking number so you know they received it.

If they still send you packages call your credit card company and change your card's numbers say its been stolen or you have lost it. Do not cancel your cards as this may result in a bad credit score.

If interested in this business contact me at Sky1Sky22003@yahoo.com with the subject being
Interest in becoming a member of Melaleuca

Thank you for reading.

Well i can feel everyone frustrations with not knowing the whole truth about some of these own your own businesses, and i myself almost got into Melaleuca, until someone saved my life and showded me a wonderful independent business. that has many years behind it, and there are no secrets. I have to be honest many people are trying so hard to find that one particular business that will make them millionares over night, sorry but it does not work like that, ...and they keep continuing to get into something that promises that you will become wealthy but again...sorry to say if your looking for that it most likely will be a scam. I wish people will really do their research and find a company that has been around for many, many, many years and to find out the details on what a forced pyramid is, well i can definately tell you that melaleuca is one.

YES WHEN I signed up i was all gung ho on this ready to make some money and then when i placed my order with the membership it came to over 100 dollars and i thought ok its only for this month. then when i received the product i was disapointed to find that it was like almost $70 in product and only got like 6 things. they were charging like 2 dollars a little hand sanatizer that smaller than your hand and you know u can get them at wal mart for .99 cents. I m so upset that I asked for my membership money back. I hope they do because i will raise hell. I am so sick of people scamming others. They will perish in hell. and for everyones sake i hope that is soon for the economy is falling and they aint helping any.

Melaleuca don't do business with them

I have been a customer of Melaleuca for 15-20 yrs. and now that my children are grown no longer need their products. I have spent 5 months trying to cancel my account with them. I cancelled my charge card to stop them, spoke with numerous representatives (who assured me everything was fine) and sent a number of letters yet they continued to send me packages. They have sent me numerous letters and repeatedly called my home for payment of these packages that had been sent back. I spoke with someone this evening about it again and he informed me that I owe them for the UPS charge for the package I sent back last. I explained that the account was cancelled months ago, that just weeks ago a representative told me the package was sent by mistake and would I be so kind to send it back. Which I did and I was not asking them for reimbursement of the postage. He then informed me that if I didn't pay for the UPS charge that they would continue to harass me by calling constantly. Do Not Do Business With This Company!

Well tiff you have a couple things right...for one not everything is for everyone that is why mela has a 100% Guarantee satisfaction there. They can cancel at any time and yes it makes sense to fax because if everything was done by phone then where is the security in that. I am glad you jumped on board, however, as a new customer, especially if your doing the business, I dont see you doing well if you are willing to believe in complaints rather then your own personal experience. Everyone has there own experiences yes, but I dont let anyone influence my decisions to do well in anything. Yes any one can have a great experience. If you dont like the products return them, thats ok, they may not be your type but why come here to complain and call the company a scam like many on here do is so stupid. Melaleuca would not be around for 25 years, recieve several awards from the BBB and have tons of satisfied customers if they were a scam so get over yourselfs (this is not directed to you Tiff). What you all do with your time is part of what you are. If it dont work for you then dont do it but what is the point of trying to convince someone else that they cant if you dont even know them. For those of you coming on here to find out more info. the best advice I can give IS BE BLIND! DEAF! Call BBB go to the right source. Melaleauce is the best thing I ever did and they are only GROWING. Follow your own dream and heart and dont let anyone tell you what is best for you...step out of your comfort zone...take a risk...and see for yourself. By all means do your research because there are some scams out there but do the right research, dont listen to people who have nothing better to do with themselves then complain about how the company failed them because usually 90% of the time they gave up before even giving it a chance. Anyone willing to argue with me feel free I bet I can help you get to the root of the real problem. I had a lady tell me the other day she tryed it for 4 months and it didnt make her any money BUT she loved the products. Well If you like the products what was the problem. So I asked her what level are you...she said a level three...so i asked if she got a value pack and her answer was no. Sorry but you CAN NOT refer a business to someone and NOT NO about the products by only buying 5 products a month. If you do that it will take years to get to really know the products...so like I said...she gave up before really seeing the value just because she didnt listen to her mentor. OK I think I am done for Now

I just signed up for malaleuca and so far have had no issues, but do find it a bit strange that the only way to cancel your membership is to do it in writing. Why is a phone call or e-mail not sufficient?. And after reading all of these issues that have happened it definitely makes me more aware of possibly issues. Just because one person has a great experience doesn't mean everyone will have a great one!. Thats just the way the world works, but I think with all the knowledge from both sides of the coin will only help you in the future. Now if I have any issues I know exactly what to do; hoping I dont. I would really like to be succesful with this company and I am hoping that a majority of you out there are as well. And I am sorry for all the trouble that the rest of you have now or have had in the past. Thanks for all the information though, its greatly appreciated.

So let me get this straight...

For somewhere between 180 months and 240 months you shopped happily with Melaleuca with no problems and now suddenly because yoru kids are no longer there you want to leave?

if anyone is here looking for a reason TO join you just gave it to them with a 15 to 20 year track record like that, certainly anyone wanting to join up can feel confident that their orders will be taken, processed and shipped with no problems.

I agree with kelk, Im a customer for life.

Melaleuca online scam!

I was browsing the web where I can about this program. I emailed them. Said why not and it's worth a try, and had only cost me $1.00 to sign up. Well I asked every question under the book. My one question, 'Do I have to purchase anything monthly?' They said no. I asked them again, but in a different form 'So I do not have to put out any money a month for this?' They replied just for the material that it cost you to advertise. But non towards their products. I sat in an hour length phone call. The only thing it went over and over again on was how much money you can make, and all the promotions going on.

Well the next month came along, and well let's just say I felt real low trying to purchase something for my newborn at the store. Because I knew I have money on my credit card, and it was denied. This one wonderful lady offered to pay for my items, but I said no thank you and called my credit card company up right away.

Melaleuca had charged $34.98 or some amount to my credit card. I put a dispute on it and called up Melaleuca the following business day. They told me it was in the contract. I said 'OHNO!' I asked that question before hand. They then told me that if I would had read the contract it states it in there. Well see the only thing though, is that you give all your credit card information over the phone to the lead person. You don't actually see the contract.

It's just a big scam. I never bought any of their products because I told them that, I was in the middle of moving, and had NO extra money. So I could afford the $1.00 set up fee but not $34.98 or whatever the amount was a month.

Since you updated this "complaint" in 2019 to make it look more relevant, I'll dissect your misconceptions for you and for any other person out there researching complaints.

Your comment:I was browsing the web where I can about this program. MY RESPONSE: This original complaint must have occurred over a decade ago because as far back as I have been a customer there has always been a monthly obligation to remain a preferred customer. That is not a scam, that is a good business plan, because they cannot rely on people shopping a physical store this is their way of securing their assets. Makes complete sense! I know that a Melaleuca customer service rep did NOT tell you that you had no monthly obligation, your enroller could have lied, if they did, you could have always contacted compliance. They are very strict on how people represent their company.

Well the next month came along, and well let's just say I felt real low trying to purchase something for my newborn at the store. Because I knew I have money on my credit card, and it was denied. This one wonderful lady offered to pay for my items, but I said no thank you and called my credit card company up right away. MY RESPONSE: Are you mentioning a newborn to play on others sympathy into thinking Melaleuca stole from your infant?

Melaleuca had charged $34.98 or some amount to my credit card. I put a dispute on it and called up Melaleuca the following business day. They told me it was in the contract. I said 'OHNO!' I asked that question before hand. They then told me that if I would had read the contract it states it in there. Well see the only thing though, is that you give all your credit card information over the phone to the lead person. You don't actually see the contract. MY RESPONSE: Who does anything over the phone and gives their financial information without reading between the lines, you had another full month to investigate the company if you were so skeptical. The problem today is so many people in this society want to lay blame on anyone else but themselves. Shame on the enroller if they lied to you, shame on you for not researching more. You could have requested the contract be emailed or mailed to you.

It's just a big scam. I never bought any of their products because I told them that, I was in the middle of moving, and had NO extra money. So I could afford the $1.00 set up fee but not $34.98 or whatever the amount was a month.
MY RESPONSE: What did you think you were getting for a $1 that doesn't have a physical store to shop? Who would sign up for something when they had no money for household products in the middle of moving? For those 2019 people that are curious about whether or not you should become a customer, Id say give it 90 days, if you are satisfied, cancel. Its that simple. Very simple. You cannot take into account these non verified complaints. Melaleuca is a wellness store that focuses on bringing you chemical free products affordably. You take the monies you would normally take to your weekly or monthly Kroger, target, Walmart, etc shopping and you spend SOME of it with Melaleuca. They are NOT an MLM, if you decide to build a business with them you are not making your enroller money while they sit back and do nothing. Everyone has to work the business to earn money. Just like Sam Walton did when he build Walmart. When you go and purchase any name brand item at Walmart you are making the Waltons, the brand, the walmart employees, the semi truck drivers, the Chinese employees and everyone in between them money. Melaleuca is the manufacturer and distributer, its ALL in America. Melaleuca has been a God send for my family and we have never been scammed. They have been such a blessing for multiple reasons in our home. SOME, NOT all are more expensive than the big box stores but not by much and to my family, its worth it after researching the studies that are published on the safety. If its not worth it to you, don't enroll, its that simple.

Melaleuca is certainly not a scam. It's been in business since 1985 and earns over a billion dollars annually. If it had been a scam it would have been closed a long time ago. The problem here as I see it is you are dealing often with customers who then chose to move on it as a business and promote it. There are many lay people who for whatever reason don't do the right thing or say the right thing, whatever. The problem is with the individual, not the company. I have been a consumer for over 4 years and have never had a problem. We love the products. They are great on the phone and address any issues immediately. The person who enrolled 1student is the one who had the issue, not the company. Many network marketing companies or direct sales companies get a bad name or complaints because some of their distributors don't have a clue or say/mislead prospects, make claims, etc.

Reading through the complaints it occurs to me that most of the problems stem from the business partners or up line. These sponsors do not give full disclosure and out right lie just to get people to sign up. If these people had been honest and given full disclosure 90% of these people would not have been left with a bad impression.

When getting involved in a business like this don't sign up until you do your own research on the corporation site. Call the 800 for the company hot line and ask them questions, don't base everything on what the prospective sponsor says. Most companies will post their compensation plans online and this will outline any and all requirements. If there is anything different from what your would be sponsor is telling you, call them out on it.

I was a preferred customer with this company and have been trying to cancel my account since July 2012, it is now October 2012. I have repeatedly sent in the paperwork necessary to cancel and they still sent product to my home. Every time I have followed up their harassing phone calls and text messages with a response it is the same excuse "we don't have your cancellation on file". In the mean time they recently charged my credit card account for services that, as I stated, I cancelled 3 months ago. I responded in kind with fraud charges through my credit card company. I spoke with them again today and for the third time I am sending them a cancellation notice so I am sure I will be getting more harassing calls and text messages.

Do not do business with this company. Cancelling is nearly impossible and appears they want you to get fed up and just keep doing business with them. As for their products, some I liked, some I didn't but, that is no different than any company in the market.

Also at anytime you can have your membership placed on hold and not receive backup orders. And if you want to buy their products without becoming a member and required to purchase 35 points each month, you can simply buy the products at full price without the membership discount whenever you need more products and not monthly if you don't need them...so people are fussing over things that they don't even have the whole picture about or understand...

I got very angry when I saw all the complaints bout Melaleuca. But what they wrote would not have made me not join the company because those people sounded like ###s. I would have said duh you have to buy all these things anyway and someone that liked Melaleuca said things aren't cheaper than wal-mart. In the presentation the Founder states that the products are often cheaper than their harmful counter parts. Something a good rep would remember. They did not say all. But all are safer and there are many like the shampoo for example. I have used my bottle for months now. I would have to probably buy 5 bottles from the other stores by now. My hair looks better now than when I bought any other shampoo anywhere. I have saloon style hair that's cheaper than Pantene that never worked on my hair. It even makes the grey in my hair look nice and my husband compliments my hair all the time now and he always hated the grey but I ruined my hair with dye and this shampoo brought my hair back to life. The laundry detergent is amazing and so is all the cleaning products. I signed up a friend that says she would follow me anywhere buy when it comes to her money she don't know. Well I get woken by a text everyday since she became a customer telling me about a new product she is a liken a lot. She said the products are even getting her kids cleaning. And I know that is a true miracle. She said that it's like crack lol waiting for her Melaleuca shipment to come. So if you haven't tried to work the company correctly don't waste money signing up for a website domain to trash a company you didn't even give a chance. I signed up my mom and my friend and I have spent lots of time building a contact list that doesn't require me to track down all my friends and family. It is simple. Look for people who are selling. This is simple. I know that one day my friends and family will come to me asking to get in because I have been successful. I listen to lots of training. Talk to my mentor several times a week and am just learning everything I can about the entire business and then I am going to take on the world and build a lifetime retirement for my family and teach them all how to do the same. In the meantime I am working on getting my products paid for every month. I signed 2 people so far. My mom and my friend and I made 45.00. So I am almost there already. Every time I go to the store I have to buy something that is not food and when you actually look at that bill you see 3.4 of it is actually not food. I found my Melaleuca money by cancelling a couple monthly subscriptions I did not need. I wouldn't have done that if I was just taking that money to the grocery store. So now I have budgeted all the money to pay for the 3/4 non food items on the belt so now I have more money to buy food items and walk out with mostly food we can eat with the exception of animal food and paper towel and toilet paper cat litter etc but now I am on the way to getting all my Melaleuca products paid for along with what I buy at the store just by showing a few open minded people what I do.Oh and my mom got a check for 2.59 because I put my friend under her. Then when my friend gets someone under her my mom and I will also profit from every customer that buys from my friend and her friend and their friend all the way to 7 generations month after month for a one time effort. If you don't have what it takes to be open minded and adjust to something new and read what your getting into then walk away and don't ruin an opportunity for someone else because they read your misleading information about an honest business. As far as canceling on the phone they need it in writing. What if you were a million dollar rep and someone you knew got mad at you they could call Melaleuca and say hey this is Jane Doe cancel my account please and you would lose a million dollar business just like that. That is to protect you not to make 50 bucks from you. Grow Up. Listen Better.

Melaleuca terrible experience!

I have been using Melaleuca products for about 6 months now. At first I was relieved to find such a great company with high quality products. I truly bought into the whole package. They promote 'Going Green with Melaleuca' Later did I find out that Melaleuca is really not so green.

I have a hard time understanding how a company that advertises wellness doesn't put all of their ingredients on the labels of the packaging. I have even called Melaleuca, and they refused to send me ingredients for some of the product in the Nicole Miller line. I was finally able to speak to someone who told me the ingredients over the phone. Not only is their makeup loaded with Parabens, but they put dimethicone in almost all of their personal care lines. (Dimethicone is synthetic emollient that is a known tumor promoters and accumulates in the liver and lymph nodes. It is also non-biodegradable, causing negative environmental impact) There is formaldehyde in the children's line. While formaldehyde is wonderful for persevering cadavers, I would prefer to not have that absorbed into my child's skin! There are xenoestrogens in their Body Satin line. Anything that is absorbed into the skin is 10 times that of an oral dose.

I feel Melaleucas advertising is false. The truth is, is that their products are no better than Proctor & Gambles. The only positive aspect of dealing with Melaleuca, is that I can save time and money by making home made cleaning products. Baking soda works wonders and its better for the environment than anything Melaleuca sells.

Hopefully I will be able to send my products back for a refund.

Dog throws-up when eaten. "Send it in with documentation for credit". I the resolution... What does 100% Satisfaction really mean?
I guess I am spoiled with AMAZON because product return is free and they seem to care about service.

I feel so bad you received this misinformation. There is absolutely no formaldehyde (quaternium) in their children's line. NO Melaleuca products contain any form of formaldehyde. The business plan has been successful and, over and over again shown that it is not a pyramid or a scheme. I am so sorry you didn't have a good experience with Melaleuca. My family's health has definitely seen all the wonderful benefits of Melaleuca. :)

Melaleuca is there to give us great products and a way out of whatever hardship we might be having. People who say things who are standing outside more often really don't even know what they are saying. re some facts www.asaferlife.info They have paid-out over $2.8 billion to regular folks in commissions so it must work right?

First of All, the backup order plan from Melaleuca works, if and only if you fail to order your 35 product point commitment does it come into play, this is explained during the presentation and should have been explained by the person who invited you as I do. It is better than Auto Ship Programs with other company out there, wherein the same products each and every month is shipped because all they have to offer is a limited number of products. I have heard 'It's HARD to cancel", NOT TRUE! If you decide to cancel your membership, it's really easy to do. All you do is print a cancelation form and fax in your request, why fax?, because of your legal signature, simple! If faxed on or before the 25th of the month, account is canceled for current month and if after the 25th, it will be for the following month. With Melaleuca, There are more than 350 consumable products to choose from. So, Auto Ship Program don’t work. As far as the 35 points commitment to get products at wholesale is nothing, just switch stores do your shopping at Melaleuca. I have NOT ordered lesser than 64 points each and every month that I have been with them. Second, like Amazon, Ebay or any other sites that do business except for companies that issues RMA (electronics), shipping and handling are services rendered or when you return products, you pay. The question is, when you have used up your vitamins for 90 days and decide that they don’t work or didn’t FEEL any improvement or energy, can you return them? With Melaleuca, YES, up to 90 days warranty, no questions asked. Third, I paid $29.- to join Melaleuca for the promise of non-chemical base products and it did make my family healthier with Natural based products, in fact my grandson who had asthma for 6yrs. was healed just by using their detergent, as per me, for the past 4 yrs, my oncologist or cancer doctor has blood test after blood test done on me because I might have Leukemia or cancer of the blood. And after taking their Vitamins for 4 months, I cried when they told me my white cell count went down to normal to everybody's amazement. Tell me, What price do you put on your HEALTH? Added to that, the revenue sharing program has helped me, I made over 20K last year, just for telling people about products that are GREAT and this all happened for a $29 investment, call me crazy, if you calculate even if you spend $70 or 35 points for a year that's only $840 for a year for products that my family uses yearly, CHEAP, and this is not even part of “cost of doing business”, we came out way ahead. And even if, I didn’t make money, just with the deduction I had on my schedule C, because I did signed up also to become an Independent Marketing Executive with them and it was worth it. Listen really hard for those don't have any deductions. Value of products was my main concern; addition income was a pleasant surprise". I'm sorry, I have not made my first Million Dollar yet on Melaleuca but I'm already a big big Winner when it comes to good health for my family and myself, that is KING to me! I welcome any questions about Melaleuca, their products or even the research I have done, which are now a part of me and my family now as a Blessing'. Call me at [protected].. God Bless!

Where in the world did this person get the idea that anything absorbed through the skin is 10 times stronger than something taken orally?! I am a Registered Nurse and I can tell you right now this person is misinformed. There are medication patches where the medicine is absorbed through the skin. With most things, however the amount absorbed through the skin is minimal. I think most pharmacists and doctors would tell you the same thing. Most things would be alot more dangerous swallowed than rubbed on the skin. Of course, stronger by far, would be the injectable route.

Everyone needs to think before that attack. I know its the Internet but you shouldn't check your brain at the door when you post here. A+ rating with the BBB, completely debt free, countless local and national awards, almost 1 Billion in sales last year, they have paid OUT to others nearly 3 Billion dollars in referral commissions to single moms, families and hard working people since they began and they even fund an orphanage in Ecuador for goodness sakes.

Just because you forgot to order like you said you would doesnt negate all of that and make them a scam... it just means you said you would order and didnt.

So much wrong information in this thread its hard to pick where to start...

Vic-o-la - You paid $29 to enroll and that purchased you the business kit to get started. You have 4 months to decide if its for you or not and at the end of the four months if its not for you, you return the kit and get your $29 back. Why you gave your kit away is beyond me but to twist it around and blame the company is disingenuous.

To vic and green - No company anywhere reveals patented or proprietary ingredients or formulas. Melaleuca is under absolutely no obligation to reveal every last formulation of every last product to you just to satisfy your product paranoia. I call it paranoia because if you honestly took the time to compare the other major brands out there against Melaleuca you would quickly learn that they beat everyone else hands down in environmental practices, organic ingredient usage, specific ingredients in products and overall company policy and procedure.

There is a tremendous amount of FICTION here online. Stop letting Google scare you and instead do some real and actual hands on research like Melaleuca does at some of the major universities and work with real scientists, doctors and chemists like Melaleuca does. When you look at the SCIENTIFIC FACTS and not what some random yahoo may or may not have posted online, Melaleuca emerges as the undisputed leader in product development that is safer for your home, your kids, your pets and the environment.

meltoblame - Melaleuca NEVER charges you for what you do not ask for. You either place an order before the end of the month or you pre-authorize them when you sign up originally to send you whatever you picked out and asked them to. Melaleuca either has you recorded on the phone agreeing to that and saying that you understand that and dont have any questions OR they have your enrollment contract where you agreed to it in writing so to come here and make it sound like they charged you for what you didn't authorize is completely misleading.

As far as their reputation not lasting, sales have steadily been on the rise over the last 25 years and we have more customers now than we ever have had before. Scams don't last, but Melaleuca and their completely unique business model obviously does.
