Their rebates really are a scam. I don't mind that what they give must be used in Menards. What bugs me is that the rebate must be mailed in usually within a week later, must include the original receipt, you must create and address your own envelope, and then you still need to wait 6-8 weeks. This type of unnecessary overhead demonstrates that they really do not want people collecting on those rebates.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
John, I guess you've not done many rebates in your life. There are some out there that are easier than Menards, but many are more difficult.
Please do not diminish John's complaint. He is spot on. But the problem with Menards rebates using Rebate International goes much deeper and constitutes fraud. I am an example RIGHT NOW of being promised and owed $70.00 that they admitted failed to even get logged into their system, though everything I submitted was corrected. After having to provide proof a second time, I was promised a rebate check would be issued within 3-5 days of April 21st, 2017. I have all email documentation with a Mr. Metza who received my second mailing and promising a check. As of this date, May 12th, no check has been issued according to their tracking information. We have had to literally ride Menards for our last two rebates. From the complaints I have read, there are usually problems with the larger rebate payouts. Most people forget and never followup. I hope someone gets a hungry law firm to file a class action lawsuit. I believe thousands will sign up.
I agree. I like Menards but I absolutely hate the way that they do rebates! I mean, what an antiquated system!
First of all, I have had rebates issued to me that I never received! And now I have to go through all of the time-wasting effort to track this all down as to why. Haven't I done enough by shopping at the store!
I've also lost a few that say they were redeemed. Just this summer our neighborhood has suffered from mailbox robbery. Why would you send cash in the mail? These rebates are like cash!
Menards needs to change the way they offer rebates or a lot of us will just stop shopping at the store. It's too much of a headache to worry about this day and age.
Totally agree. We recently had a postal worker accused of cashing in on others Menards rebates in the thousands. This is udder bullcrap. I to have sent in and not received my rebates. "Quite large to I may add". We know they boulster prices when the offer rebates to begin with so it is actually cheaper to buy elsewhere at that time. I do think they send them out, really should not take 8 weeks to receive but, it is a shame that we can not even trust the USPS to do the right thing. It's bad enough that we have to support them with our tax dollar only to have the workers steel from us. Yes, the rebate system is broked and need to be secured by identification requirements for cashing or redeeming so no one else can cash them. Just think about how great it would be if Menards just gave the 11% rebate at the time of purchase but they bank on the fact that people will not cash or get the rebate or expire before they get it sent. HIGHWAY ROBBERY! They nail you coming and going!
I’d be signing up with you. I am owed over $500. I won’t be going on there again. I hope there is a lawsuit.
Menards rebates are a total scam. I have sent many in only never to see anything of them again. The way they advertise them up front is a scam as their ads imply you actually get cash off. Then you find out it is really not that but that it is some kind of crazy credit that is good only on the fourth of July if it is snowing and there is a herd of elephants running through your living room. But worse yet, once you send it it is never seen again. At this point I would just like to get my money back for all I spent on stamps for rebates that never came.
I don't know the amount exactly but the last five or six rebates I have sent in never happened. Even though it is a pain, the procedure is very easy to do correctly. I have gotten a couple rebates but lately...nothing. I too hope there is a lawsuit and am considering contacting the local REAL NEWS stations to see if I am not the only one.
Why can't they just have a sale? They never do...just this rebate scam.
"Boulster"? There is no such word! You mean "bolster"! And HOW is Menards being supported with tax dollars? And the workers do not "steel" from anyone. If anything, you should say "steal"... You really need to proofread your posts before you send them. Try having someone read it aloud to you and see how much sense it makes-this one is DESPERATELY in need of grammar and punctuation help!
I have not gotten my last 2 which are higher amounts--they are not even entered into rhe system. I sent an email, and of course, no response. I'll join in the law suit if one is filed.
It looks like one was filed in the past. But this is ridiculous. I recently moved and spent a ton of money at menards and many times chose menards over other store simply for the “11% back” BS. I’ve submitted 8-9 rebates and they’re not even coming up traceable!? Wtaf
Contractor here ivecsoent 80k there in 2020. Recieved back only a thousand bucks. I wrote down my rebate amounts per envelope for my records before I sent. 15 rebates coupons per envelope I recieved 1, the amounts were completely wrong. Short Big time. Then recieved another and surprise, surprise my largest amount rebates totalling hundreds per individual rebate were gone...
My husband had been a Menards rebater for years which has saved us hundreds! He's used it for roofing, driveway pavers and so much more! He's never had a problem and when we think of the money it saved filling out an envelope, form and sticking a stamp on Ann envelope seems a small price to pay.
John,
I've rebated with Menards for years, and I have always gotten every penny that was coming to me. They make it very easy, even allowing you to send all your rebates in one envelope. They even print special rebate receipts. What more do you want, John? Really!
Please do not diminish John's complaint. He is spot on. But the problem with Menards rebates using Rebate International goes much deeper and constitutes fraud. I am an example RIGHT NOW of being promised and owed $70.00 that they admitted failed to even get logged into their system, though everything I submitted was corrected. jimboo, we don't have the same experience. For me, I have 4 occurence where I mailed my rebates bur they find way to send me pennies on the dollars with no explanation.
Recently, they offered $4 off a galon of Lucite paint with a limit of 4. I purchased 5 mailed it all, got back $4.
Today, I just got my 11% off for the first week of this year. Spend more than $1000, mailed two checks of $68 and $84, I got back $8 and $4.
I was looking for a class action out there to join it.
This is a REAL scam.
I agree with what you are saying total scam and lies. They kept saying that they have no record of my rebate. Have sent proof (scanned receipt before I sent it). Just checked rebate status (have been doing this for the last 4 months with not record of rebate tracking # or my rebate #). Now it says that they sent the check on 11/8/2017. Haven't received anything from them. I don't care what kind of mail service you use, but none of them take over a month to get from Wisconsin to Michigan. I could have walked there faster than that. I checked out Consumer Affairs and Menards Company are definitely SCAM ARTISTS!
The rebate should be what your receipt says it is going to be, but it seldom is. It is always dollars less. I can see if you return something, but if not it should be what they promised. I think the delay is because they want to make sure you don’t return your purchase after you receive a rebate. But someone’s needs to look into why the rebate don’t match what the receipt says. It is more often than not that they do not send the entitled amount. I may send a letter to consumer fraud department off the government once they re-open that is.
after spending over 7000 on kitchen cabinets an countertops i went in with my 11% rebate to buy aircompressor and finish nail gun kit that was on sale I was told I would only be able to apply 50$ of my rebate on a 500 rebate card but they would allow me to pay difference in cash to get sale price and an additional 11% rebate thate I can only spend 50$ at a time so after I spend the 800$ in rebates I have I will Be shopping at Home Depot
I sent in my rebate forms over a month ago. I haven't gotten the rebate, and it isn't even showing up on the Menard's rebate tracker website. I'm very discouraged - I think Menards just stole $50 from me. I doubt I'm ever going to see the money.
I know this is waayyyy after the fact as it is 2019, but anyone that experiences not receiving the rebate and not seeing it on their site needs to email at the address listed. That’s what I did. They gave me a bunch of reasons why they did not send rebate, 1. They didn’t get it., I told the funny that I got the small ones that were in same envelope. 2. They didn’t get original receipt. But I send original and kept copy. 3. I returned the item on May 10th. Funny part is I didn’t even pick it up until May 12. I threatened to report them and all the sudden they found the original receipt and realized I can’t return it before I pick it up. Finally they sent my rebate and it didn’t even get lost in the mail like I suspected it would.
I think some of the workers in the rebate are dishonest, I have some from feb. and march I have'nt received yet.
Weird jimboo Lives in the same town as Menards Corporate Headquarters & he's the only one defending them...Hmmm. Coincidence? lol
I returned an item from 11% rebate receipt and furing my return transaction, the menard's employee stole my rebate receipt at bottom of page! I didn't notice it at the time and left the store. It was a very long reciept with over 15 items and well over $100. Several days later, I got my receipt in order for mailing and noticed the rebate receipt had been removed. I phoned and was told rebateinternational.com handles rebates now, not Menards. However, rebateinternational requires info printed on rebate receipt but mine had been stolen! No way for me to track my stolen rebate. I reported incident to menards store and menards corporate. That customer service employee is a thief. Also, not to be a victim any further. I decided to return every item I purchased on that receipt, that very day as to not wait for my rebate to be processed and sent to her instead. That store employee will certainly be surprised to see her rebate for about $2. Was it really worth it? Hope she loses her job. Shame when employees steal from employer but to have employees steal from customers... WOW. Outragous! I won't be shopping at menards again. This clerk ruined my opinion of the retailer.
Charged just under $1300.00 at Warren, MI Menard's in Oct. 2015, sent in rebate with others of lesser value. Never got the big rebate, Menard's/Rebates International kept giving me the circle spin, referring to other rebates (claiming payment), and never acknowledging the biggest purchase. Once you send in your receipt, they've got you. You can't talk to anyone in authority, just nasty phone jockeys who give you the runaround and an address to write to. You can follow up with letters copies all you want, they just treat you like a tool. Upon investigating it appears they participate in this fraudulent practice for big ticket purchase rebates, passing the "hot potato" between them until you give up and go away.
That's just what I did, along with my thousands of dollars of business every year for my company. Boycott these fools and spend your money elsewhere where they have integrity and practice honesty!
They did the same tto me but I can't even find a phone number to call them. If u have phone number please post it. Thanks
Menards / Rebates International engage in deceptive and dishonest practices regarding these rebates. Shop somewhere else!
They will send you small ones for, say, $10 or $20, but try sending in one for a $1300 purchase! Then they will kick you back and forth between the geniuses at RI and Menard's Guest Services. Of course you can't actually talk to anyone but a bitter phone jockey, you have to write letters and send receipt copies and waste your time sending and receiving pointless e-mails. Then you suddenly realize they are engaging in dishonest, deceitful and immoral business practices. Who wants to bet a percentage of their pay is determined by how much money they cheat customers out of?!?
Take your money and shop somewhere where integrity still matters! Boycott Menards!
My issues with Menards are about the same. Last time I shop at their stores.
I would rather pay more at Lowe's or Home Depot !
Do you know Lowe’s gives rebates too that you seldom hear about, check out the small print on your receipt, ask the clerk or go on line. I have sent in a couple. Opt for the gift card, they will send it via email but I always lose it in my email mess
Not that some of you could be having problems here, but I have been submitting Menards rebates for years and I have NEVER had a problem getting the full rebates, and that has included getting rebate checks of more than $100. They make this about as easy as it gets for rebates, i.e. just pick up the forms, put on a return address sticker and put the forms and the rebate receipts in an envelope and send them to the address listed. As noted, you can send multiple rebates in one envelope so it's very convenient. The forms list the deadline for sending so pay attention to that, and if you're worried, make a copy of the rebate slips printed at the end of the receipt for your records.
I really find that doubtful.
Well over the years ive returned probably 100 rebate cards for all various amounts and never a problem till recently. I purchaced a large amout of wood & siding durring there 11% rebate on everything well now the rebate comes back and insted of being almost $130 it was for $45 i took it to menards showed them the original recipe and the rebate and after almost a hr gave me a number for a corperate office and after 2 weeks of calls i finally gave up on it. So the next day i took some of the stuff i didnt usecand returned it for a in store voucher and guess what! The voucher was labeled as unreconizable tender i took it back over to customer service where i just recieved it and they couldnt get it to work either so once again i was given a number to cooperate i called wile standing there at customer service and they said they would check into it and call me back the next day so i said nevermind i want my retured items back and the lady was about in tears it wasnt her fault but there policy is a joke so i ended up calling the police and after another hour they came i explained to them the situation they asked the lady at customer service and she varifyed everything that i said her mgr made himself invisable to the cops i got my returned items back and filed a complaint with my local bbb and consumer fraud division and i was suppose to here from menards again never have now i only buy exactly what i need never no rebate stuff and go to lowes and pay more to avoid a situation like the 1 i had...ive been a huge beleiver in menards for 20+ years till now..there local menards has a bbb rating of half a star out of a 5 star i cant believe they let these menards be run like they are total rip off by cooperate...
I am having this same issue with rebates they only gave me 2 weeks before it is no good, bought an expensive compressor but with the rebate hassles and only 2 weeks to send in is a joke most rebates give you 2 months will be returning for a full refund which hey will try and deduct the 11% off if they do I will file police charges for theft of my money, if they refuse to give people the money after 2 weeks than they have to give a full refund or it is theft. I think there should be a class action lawsuit. Why not just give everyone 11% off at the registers and give the customers a better experience. Looks like I will take all my shopping to Lowes as I get 5% off right away and no stupid rebates to worry about.
Will also take my business elsewhere. Have 5 rebates out there, Rebates International asking for original receipts in order to help me. Guess What? They have the originals...Spent too much time on this and that's why I'll go elsewhere. Maybe one day they will be investigated.
I've been pimped out of rebates three times. If I shop at Menard's again, it will only be when they don't have rebates. They jack up the prices during rebate week anyway.
Similar problem. I have filed an Federal Trade Commission Complaint
I find it interesting that Menards would disenfranchise itself so far from their loyal fan base, like the 20 year customer above. Another case of a corporation ditching customer service in favor of cutting a few in house jobs like rebate oversight and credit card maintenance service. Menards enticed us in with a rebate offer when we were looking for 3 new garage doors etc. so after jumping through several hoops to qualify for a rebate (237.00) filed early sept 2017, we had not received anything by Jan 1st 2018. I went online to see what up, cause lord knows you can't call anyone, and found out that rebates international supposedly cut us a check in early oct. isn't it surprising that it never hit our mailbox. A reoccurring theme at the BBB. More people should call the cops. It hadn't occurred to me that if you filed for a rebate ( and didn't receive it) and returned something that they would try to extract their 11% from the refund, insult to injury, theft.
August 2016 we purchased Refig/stove. Sent in the 11% rebate for over $200.,
with another small one around $11. 7 weeks later we received the $11. rebate voucher.
Never did receive the one for over $200.
Febr. 2018 we purchased another refig/stove for a rental. Rebate sent in for $197.
along with 3 other rebates in same envelope. We received the other 3 vouchers
6 weeks later. Checked on the rebates website and nothing about the $197. was ever added
to their system.
What a scam, the only reason we purchased at Menards was because of the rebate.
Would have been cheaper at Lowes, where we will go from now on.
Horrible customer service. Poor quality products. Rigid return policy with restocking fees for any online order not just special orders. Shop anywhere else before you go to this store.
I have sent in a few rebates and got usually or most of what I expected. One has to be careful and know ahead of time that seasonal discounted items etc... don't qualified.
Any way, I simply look at this way and my stress is taken care of. If, the retail price is alright with me already. Than I'll go ahead and buy it. Also, if you do a little shopping in store or online with Menards first. You'll soon find that the 11% is the same price of the items when they do go on sale. This doesn't happen as much any more since Menards has learned that they come out ahead with the Rebate sales because too many people don't send it the Rebates. There you have it in a nutshell. They found a way to boost profits
Hello,
I like Menards but I absolutely hate the way that they do rebates!
Who ever heard of a Rebate that had to be spent back at the store? What a Joke... Not a Rebate, it's a Coupon. I'll sure as H think twice about going out of my way to shop at Menards. There rebate's are a hoax, I fully expected some of my cash back.
Same here was to get good size rebate never got it. there had are so phony with there 10 % off ! there is no10% off unless you do send in the rebate and then you have to spend it at there store. I want the 10 % off at the time of purchase that's why I go to home depot ! Think everyone needs to write the attorney general because that is misleading ads ran . there ads should say 10 % rebate not off !
If you think about it hard, you’re not saving anything. The rebate is kept in store. You think you’re getting this great deal when you get this big 11% rebate but you’re going to spend that rebate on something else in the store. It’s Menards way of just shuffling money around, they deceive you into thinking you’re saving all of this money when really you’re not. I don’t waste my time or trouble messing with their rebates, in the end its not worth it.
I have a similar issue going on with Menards, for over $100 for their frequent 11% rebates. Rebates International is a joke. You cannot call them, it is difficult to get in contact with them, they have done everything in their power to make it as hard as possible to get the rebate. Compare this to Staples...I can submit it online, and know that it is IMMEDIATELY entered into their system. This Menards system is from the horse and buggy days. I have copied the Ohio Attorney General office on this matter to get their assistance.
WOW this rebate scan is huge! a simple search on the web an i find so many sites filled with people just like us getting defrauded, it could be in the billions by now not sure why there not in jail an company seized to try an pay some of these people there losses, How can such a scam go on so long...
Add me to the list of unsatisfied customers. I bought a shed and all materials for $1450 mid May 2020. I sent receipt and documentation to Rebate international. Nothing - after checking a week ago. It has been over 6 weeks and it has not been processed yet.
I check the status daily and send emails daily as well.
This makes me never want to shop at Menards again.
I too am waiting for a rebate that is almost $50 . It seems when ever I sent in ones that are higher amounts they never get processed. Sick of Menards and their scam rebate system.
I hate their rebate scheme. It's a joke. I'm still waiting and getting emails from the [censored] rebate company. No phone if course!
I agree with everyone! We also get scammed all the time with these high dollar rebates. I feel as if the rebate is more then $200, then you can kiss that savings goodbye! We have purchased many high dollar items thru the building dept and have yet to receive compensation for our purchases. I have always waited the full 6 weeks before sending a useless email to the customer service pleading to surrender me my money owed. They have responded back one week later stating that they never received my rebates. Funny how when i send a couple dollar rebates in, I automatically get them back within 3 weeks. I am now owed thousands of dollars from this company and no one seems to want to do anything about it. I hope we do get a class act lawsuit because I will be the first to sign up. I have even taken copies of my receipts and resent them in again. I've also complained to the managers at stores and they tell you to continue sending them in, even if they are beyond the expiration date. Supposedly, they can be redeemed up to two years past the date. That's what i'm told! I cant even get my unexpired certificates sent to me if they owe me more then $200. I cant understand why we can't submit our refund online and receive the refund in a sealed envelope! Makes no kind of sense to me. I personally believe the workers at the Rebate International Center are stealing the high dollar rebates and that is why they do not get logged in on my rebate tracker. Just my opinion!
We bought a lot of paint and other items in June and are still waiting for the rebate. Menards is runnng a scam! I wish that some one sues them and punishes them for this larceny
I also have been a loyal customer of Menards for many years and never had an issue with rebates until recently. I have a number of outstanding rebated all after June 2020. These do not show up on thier tracking system and when I followed up I received a generic email stating to wait longer and if I follow up again it will delay the process more. This is my first and last time to follow up. I will post as many places as possible of my experience. After this response I purchased a water softner at Home Depot for $409 standard price, Menards sells it for $449 be rebate and $399 after rebate. In the past I would have paid the $449 to get the additional $10 after rebate but now I find getting the $40 immediate savings better. I will now only buy from the store with the best immediate price.
Justin FYI home depot offers the same rebate at the same time menards is running it you just have to type it into Google and fill out the online form.
I have to say, I love shopping at Menards and up until this year, there has not been an issue with getting rebates. This year, however, we have had several good size purchases and I do send in the rebates soon after I get them. We received a few earlier this year, all the smaller amounts. My thought was everyone walked off the job. LOL. I know longer believe we will receive I just don't know how they can continue advertising the 11% Rebate. All they need to do is fix their ads and pay up to the ones they already owe. But it isn't likely.
Have had the same problem lately as everyone is saying on here. My rebates are many low amounts, nothing over 50.00. And I haven’t received any of them and it’s been 8 weeks. They aren’t showing on the tracker either. I have always shopped at menards because I’ve always liked our local store but apparently they can’t honor their sales so I will have to move on to Home Depot. Sad because I have always gone there weekly.
Had rebate coming for purchase in Oct. For $104. Have gotten NOTHING. NO MORE SHOPPING AT MENARDS. ARE CROOKS. REBATE IS SCAM.
Winsar Cox
Shelburn, in.
Add us to the growing list of people who have been screwed over. It seems when you send in a rebate that is over 20 bucks it’s never traceable. It’s BS and a scam. So over it .
I've never received a rebate that I submitted for Menards, total scam. The advertising is misleading to say the least and then when you follow through all of their ridiculous steps they still don't give you the rebate.
Menards rebates are a scam. I never receive any that are over 45 bucks! I even take pictures of the receipts. As of today still waiting for a 49 dollar rebate. Isn’t even showing as traceable. What a rip off!
I spend $40,000 per year at Menards. This 11% has been going on since covid began. They owe me thousands of dollars in rebates that I have not received. It was a diversion for them to raise their prices.
Let's not forget the rebates come in paper form as do the returns checks I lost a $200 returns check to the washing machine now no way to recover because the washer obliterated enough of the important numbers that a forensic team couldn't revive enough to get a replacement
MENARDS WINS AGAIN
See this screen shot the response to a rebate that I tracked now it doesn't show up in the rebate tracker any more
For sure menards 11% rebate is just a scam. bought a entrance door in may 20 until now have not received any rebate. keep tracking and sending email to rebate center, but went to “black hole”, no responses. don’t ever make your decision to purchase a big amount items for your project based on the 11% rebate. you think that you can save some money, but no you don’t. if you see menards 11% rebate advertisement, just laught at it and walk away.
Manards rebate is a scam - have to have a "Rebate Receipt" that you are emailed for online orders but the catch is if MANADRS does not send you the Rebate Receipt" you can not get the rebate hence the MANARDS Scam.
The proof of pruchase can be found and printed but not what you need to get the rebate. When you ask at the store for a "rebate Receipt" same thing a scam they can not provide one just a "proof of purchase receipt" tricked in to a purchase. Lows and Home Depot do not run scam, they are honest helpful companies not like the scams the Manards is running -- Beware of Manards

Same issue here. I placed a $1600+ order online and did not get the rebate receipt emailed to me. I guess it does not matter because I have never received a rebate from this company and have sent plenty in. Not sure who they are paying off to keep this scam going I only know that it is not paying the people sending in their rebate receipts.
I have filled out rebate forms several time and never received anything
