My uncle Jinye Liu (11/16/1957) was admitted to Mercy hospital on 8/20/2023. He was transferred to room 7305 same day from the emergency room. After a few days after the diagnosis by multiple doctors, his L4 L5 and S1 had compression fractures. As several doctors and nurses’ ordered him not to be allowed to sit above a 30 degrees angle. 8/23/2023, nurse Ana and PT Jessica asked him to sit in the wheels chair to transport to X ray. I stopped them and told them very clear, he cannot handle the regular wheelchair. He needs a special wheelchair which can laid down. Ana says” let’s just put him in chair.” My uncle ended up having severe pain and numbness losing feeling in his left leg. After we arrived to the X ray department, the technician told us they cannot and they shouldn’t have done this. The technician sent my uncle back, put him in bed again (severe pain again and numbness increased. Ana told me they will find a special chair for him. After 150 min, Ana and Jessica came to his room again with the same regular wheelchair and tried to put him in the chair again. My aunt called me instantly because they cannot speak in English. On the phone, Ana told me their special chair is in back order so they have to put my uncle in the chair again. My uncle is a heavy person around 200 plus pounds, I don’t think that’s safe without extra help.
Incident 2: My uncles’s name is Jinye Liu, he was admitted to hospital 8/20 and got discharged 8/25 9pm with no discharge form or at home instructions, no medical records. After 40 min arguing with RN, he told us” we cannot give patients any medical records! “ I truly believe this is against the law. I called family doctor today and they told me this is ridiculous and encouraging us to file a former complaint. My phone number is [protected]. My name is Zee. Please call and we can discuss
I have several questions:
1. Did Ana and Jessica communicate with other doctors or team members before they attempt to put my uncle in a regular wheelchair with severe pain the first time and the second time?
2. Did Ana and Jessica communicate with the X ray technician how/what the proper method was to transport my uncle?
3. Did Ana and Jessica report this incident to a supervisor?
4. How come in entire hospital they cannot find an appropriate tools to transfer a patient safely without causing any additional severe pain and further damage?
5. Did they treat my uncle fairly or was treatment different because they don’t speak English?
I will inform my lawyer of this situation for advising as well.
Desired outcome: Looking for medical records
