Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha I'm currently enrolled in the monthly budget plan with Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha (MUD)

I'm currently enrolled in the monthly budget plan with Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha (MUD). From November to November , I paid $151.00 per month. However, I ended up owing MUD $37.29 for the entire year. Just recently, I received my new budget price for this month, which is now $248.00 per month. That's a significant increase of $97.00 per month, resulting in a total increase of $1,164.00 per year. Now, I'll be paying a total of $2,967.00 annually for water, gas, and sewer services in Omaha.

Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha I've been living in apartments for 8 years

I've been living in apartments for 8 years. My water and gas bills from MUD have never been more than $20-40 a month. But now, with the price increase they approved this year, they want to charge me $296 for a small apartment. Can you believe it? That's way more than what I used to pay for a 2000 square foot house! It's just ridiculous. And to make matters worse, they do a terrible job responding to me whenever I have any concerns.

Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha MUD had contractors replace gas lines last year and never replaced a section of my sidewalk

MUD had contractors replace gas lines last year and never replaced a section of my sidewalk. Yesterday, contractors came onto my property, cut tree branches, and placed a machine on my property 8 feet from my home without telling anyone. They left small, deep holes uncovered by the sidewalk. MUD never told us about this project in a letter.

Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha How can MUD charge and send a customer three different bills with different due dates for the same address in one month?

How can MUD charge and send a customer three different bills with different due dates for the same address in one month? I'm getting really frustrated with this company that keeps taking mine and my hardworking friends' money. MUD is definitely the worst service/business in the whole area that we have to use. It's just plain wrong and morally evil what they're doing.

I've been on the MUD even payment plan for years now, but all of a sudden, I'm *** dollars in the red, and now they raised my bill *** dollars a month! *** DOLLARS A MONTH! In the past, they would send you a catch-up bill, but that never happened. They used to send you mail to explain things, but now, nothing! They're pushing for electronic communication, but they don't reach out to you? And when you call customer service, you get a *** who tells you to handle your bill! Is MUD really that bad at estimating bills now? I feel sorry for the folks who are just scraping by. Thanks to MUD, they've made it worse overnight!

Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha I got a bill for $*** on 8.12.22 for 12 days of usage

I got a bill for $*** on 8.12.22 for 12 days of usage. Last month's bill was $*** for 30 days. I asked why and they said a service tech would check the meter and let me know. The tech came the next day, replaced the meter, and found no gas leaks. They didn't tell me the results. So, I called again and they said the meter was changed but not my bill. I asked them to investigate why my bill was $***. On my third call, the supervisor said the electronic sending unit was bad, but the meter reading was okay. How did they know the meter was good? When did the electronic sensor fail and how long was it bad? There are a lot of unanswered questions about how this bill was made. I want MUD management to investigate this complaint.

Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha We had four accounts with MUD

We had four accounts with MUD. We recently sold one property and got a Final Bill from OPPD, ***, MUD account number ***. When I checked the Final Bill, I saw that the Final Reading of the Gas and Water Usage was Estimated. I called MUD to resolve the issue, but it didn't go well. I talked to Donna, Lois, and Bernadette. The new owner and I both called to transfer the Utility out of my name to their name before selling the house. They never told me that the Final Bill would be an Estimate. It's not fair to us or the new owner. One of us is paying too much or too little because MUD wants to Estimate the final bill reading. The new owner also has to pay a transfer fee. This is Deceptive on MUD's part, and as a public utility, they're not being transparent at all. I spent a lot of time on this and will pay the bill of $***. I tried to negotiate with MUD, but they refused to budge. My time is money, and I shouldn't have to write this, but MUD left me no choice. Thank You ComplaintsBoard.com for helping us.

Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha On 1/18/23, I called MUD's emergency line 'cause I smelled gas in my front yard

On 1/18/23, I called MUD's emergency line 'cause I smelled gas in my front yard. I said the smell was strongest near the street where MUD dug a hole to disconnect the old gas line for their update project. They sent a technician who said there was no leak, nothing to worry 'bout, and the smell was from the sewer system. Two days later, on 1/20, I come home and see MUD crews tearing up the street to fix a big gas leak. Earlier that day, my neighbor called to report the same smell, and this time MUD listened. I talked to one of the crew members and told 'em I reported the leak 2 days ago, but nothin' happened. It's really frustratin' and scary. I did everything right, found the problem, reported it, but MUD didn't follow through. This could've been really dangerous, houses could've exploded, people could've died. I want MUD to explain why they put my life at risk and what they'll do to prevent this in the future.

Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha Estimator offered $*** rebate for converting dryer from electric to gas, but after fuel line installed we didn't qualify for rebate

Estimator offered $*** rebate for converting dryer from electric to gas, but after fuel line installed we didn't qualify for rebate. On Friday June 19th, we had an Estimator (Jerry) from MUD come out to give us a quote for installing a fuel line for our gas dryer. We just moved into our new home that week. We had a gas dryer, but no gas hookup. After Jerry checked our situation, he told us we would qualify for a $*** rebate for converting to gas. Jerry said if we had any issues getting the rebate, to call MUD and mention that Jerry said we could have it. We decided to go ahead with the fuel line installation since the quote was $*** and we thought we would get $*** off, so we would pay $*** in the end. MUD sent a tech out on Monday June 22 to install the fuel line. On Tuesday June 23, I called MUD to ask about getting the $*** rebate. The rep told me to go online and fill out the rebate form. I found the form online, but it was for buying a new gas dryer. We didn't have a new gas dryer (even though it was new to us, we got it from our mom and it's three years old). I called MUD again to ask about this, and another rep said the rebate was only for buying a new gas dryer, nothing else. I explained what Jerry had told me, but the rep said they couldn't do anything. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to Juanita. I explained the situation to Juanita, and she said she would make some calls and get back to me. On Friday June 26, I called MUD for an update, but the rep couldn't reach Juanita, so she emailed her for a follow-up. Later that afternoon, Juanita called me and said they could give me a $*** credit on my bill, but that was it. Juanita also mentioned that MUD used to offer rebates for converting to gas, but not anymore. I told Juanita I would file a formal complaint because I felt deceived. I received a quote for a service that wasn't accurate, as we were told we would get a $*** credit. I believe improper sales practices have occurred, and I think I should be reimbursed as originally promised by the Estimator. I've never had any issues with MUD until now. If we had known we had to pay the full $*** without a $*** rebate, we wouldn't have gone ahead with the installation.
