Today I got a bank statement and to my surprise there was a payment 0f £29.99 to Microsoft billing. I have never authorised a payment to them nor have I ever bought anything from them using my debit card. The only reasons they have my card details is when my son and I set up his online account they needed proof of an adult on a child's account. To do this they ask for card details. When I contacted them they said a game had been down loaded. When they told me which game I told them that we already had the game on disc and I didn't authorise the payment and I wanted a refund. The reply was they don't do refunds on game down loads. I explained how unhappy I was and that I wanted the payment refunded, she apologised and said they didn't even have the services to put the payment back into my bank account. I spoke to a supervisor and was told the same. Tomorrow a manager is supposed to call me but the superviser said that the manager will not be able to refund my payment either as they do not have the facilities to make refunds. Where do I go from here?

I totally agree. Microsoft's money grabbing is beyond the pale and exactly the same thing happened to me - the card is provided as proof of adult involvement in the original deal, an Xbox Live account if memory recalls, and now I find £68 taken from my account for films my 12 year old has downloaded.
On his iPod, Apple ask for a password everytime he wants a download - even a free one - no such ethics displayed by Microsoft. I have written to ask for my money back, we'll see.

Maybe you should punish your kids and not be naive and trust a 12 year old with your redit card!
