rudness from midas manager
There was not any courtesy from the MIDAS Manager from this store when you called to check on the warranty of a previous job done about six months ago. I went to another car center to get an oil change and was informed that the oil pan had to be changed because the oil plug would not seal properly. They could not make any oil change. I called the MIDAS Manager to see if he could give me an appointment to check on that oil pan thinking that I had bought that part from them with a warranty. He was very defensive and rude and gave a lecture about breaking something of my mother's. His behavior was childish and extremely rude and certainly not the proper customer service experience that I expect as a repeat MIDAS customer. I came with a serious problem this person and I was treated by him like if the last thing he wanted was my business, and that is what I am going to give to MIDAS. This employee needs to be disciplined and perhaps taught about manners and respect.

midas sucks, yuri (the manager) is rude.
I went to Midas on Elk Ave. in Glendale, CA to get an oil change. Once I was there, they told me that I needed some new tires, which I knew because my front tires only had a little bit of tread left. They tried to sell me 4 tires but I knew better because my back tires still have plenty of tread. To make a long story short, I left and a couple of days later I noticed that I had some serious vibrating/shaking as soon as I hit about 65 MPH on the freeway. Knowing that I did not have this problem before and also knowing that this is a classic sign of incorrect balancing, I returned to Midas and spoke to the Manager, Yuri; at first he seemed nice and eager to take care of the problem. I took my car for a test drive with one of the mechanics and of course he tried to give me some B.S about the problem being my rotors or rear tires when clearly this was a balancing issue. When we got back to the shop, I insisted that they do the balancing again, which they did. I told Yuri that the machine they were using to balance tires needed to be calibrated but he insisted I was wrong and I left it at that. Sure enough, after I left, I noticed again the there was still vibrating/shaking coming from my front tires. So I went back again (second time going back). This is where it gets really bad; this Yuri jerk has the nerve to tell me that there is nothing that he can do. Even worse, he tells me outright that he thinks I had this issue before I even went there and that I am lying about it in order to hopefully get them to fix it. So of course I tell him how pissed off I am and pointed out that I never even went there to buy tires in the first place! So in order to show him I am right, I tell him to rotate my tires to see if the shaking persists. So after they do this, I drove around for a while and of course, there was no shaking. I ended up going to two different tire places and they both confirmed that the balancing on my new tires (that had been purchased from Midas) were off. After I went back to Midas to tell them about this, they ended up having to take my tires across the street to a different tire place to have them balanced. These guys should be embarrassed to even call themselves mechanics and Yuri is the worst Manager I have ever had to deal with. Even after wasting so much of my time and treating me like ###, he still refused to apologize. Needless to say, I told him exactly what I thought of him and left; the other lady who posted a comment about this guy on here was right... he is a shady individual and doesn't know a damn thing about cars or how to treat people. STAY AWAY FROM MIDAS!

Well to start the shop itself is a hazard. Trying to screw over employees and when they stand up for themselves. They get let go... Very unprofessional!
Sugar will get you further. You could tell just by looking at the balancer that it needed to be calibrated? You might want to let hunter know that you're looking for work. You don't need to be a jerk to get your point across. I don't know what you drive but if it's AWD you are better off replacing all 4.
wheels
The day I had drove my car to Midas for new tires, I washed the car and cleaned the wheels by hand. After I picked it up I looked at the paint and the wheels. I found the lip of the wheel to have been freshly smashed or curbed. I wiped the flaky shards of rim away. It might not look like much but for $180 per wheel to replace, I would appreciate taking care of my car when they have it. What ever happened to being responsible for your actions and customer service?
Responsible? Yeah where did that go? We can't afford it anymore.
bad service
My daughter had a vehicle which would not pass emissions. She was told by a friend of hers (not an auto mechanic) that she needed to have her catalytic converter replaced in her 1991 Honda and then it would pass emissions. She is living with us with her disabled son, and is unable to work, so we needed to pay for her repairs. Midas told us (during a "free" inspection) that they would do the catalytic converter, and that the vehicle also needed a LOT more work to be considered safe to drive. They assured us that by replacing the converter the car would pass emissions. They also wanted to do a LOT of brake work, including replacing the "safety proportioning valve, " which was quite expensive. I called several other mechanics, as well as Auto Parts' Stores, and they all assured me that the "safety proportioning valve" was something that virtually NEVER went out on a vehicle. The only time you might have to replace it is if the vehicle was in an accident. That's why they only sell it at dealerships. One mechanic friend told me he had never heard of anyone he knew ever replacing one - they usually last the life of the car, and the vehicle would give out before that particular part.
We were quoted $1, 300.00+ to do the brakes, just to get them to where they were "safe, " and this was with a $200.00 DISCOUNT! We let them to the converter (at a cost of $385.00), which later turned out was not at all necessary for the car to pass emissions. Because her vehicle was older (1991), all she needed was for it to be smogged to get her tags. We then took the car, after being treated extremely rudely by Midas, to a local mechanic we use frequently. He did the brake work for around $300.00, MUCH cheaper than $1, 300.00, and told us we wasted our money on the converter.
It is sad to say that Midas tried to take advantage of my daughter and me simply because we are women, and they thought we were clueless about cars. However, my husband knows EVERYTHING about cars (he just doesn't have the time to work on them), and he told us we had been totally scammed.
We will NEVER go to Midas again for any reason. They are disrespectful to women, making them believe they are going to be driving an unsafe vehicle unless we let them do approximately $1, 500.00 worth of TOTALLY UNECISSARY work. Take your business elsewhere, have it done right, and for much, much less than at Midas! They are scammers and cheaters!
I agree with the poster. Midas service locations by and large are horrible. They lie about service needing to be done, don't do the work they say they will do. NEVER take your car to Midas.
rip off! and doesn't know what they're doing
This company midas auto repair shop is completely horrible!
I took my car for a oil change, and they told me that some work needs to be done on the break pads, so I told them to check the whole car to make sure that everything is ok besides the breaks, if they have to fix make sure they fix evreything together, then the sales person called after 2 hours and told me that evrything is ok except for the break issue and the oil change, in order to complete the work the price will be $480, after they fix the car 8 hours after they call me to pick up the car. When I went to pick up my car, I questioned the salesperson if everything was checked properly, he said everything is checked properly the car is in excellent condition there is no other problem and if there is anymore problems bring the car back. So, when I was starting the car it wasn't starting proper and the car was shaking, so I gave one day to observe, then I gave him a call and took the car back to their place, he then said that maybe the battery wasn't working that's the reason starter was giving problems so I asked him my battery and starter was working good till I gave my car to your place, suddenly why is it disturbing now? He told me to leave the car they need to check the car again and that he'll let me after an hour. He didn't call me till two hours, so I decided to call him back and he told me they're still trying to find out what's causing the dilemma, four hours gone, when I called back again the salesperson told me, the car had a lot of problems, he gave me an totally new huge estimate to fix the car. I was surprised to hear that, day before car didn't have any problem beside brakes, and day after 10 problem came out. I was very angry. So, manager came out to solve the problem, he was way worse then the sales person. He told me this is a totally new problem arrived in one day. And I have to fix it by today other wise it will be very dangerous. I was very upset took the car from their shop, took it to another shop and they told me something wasn't hook up proper that's why it was acting weird. I only paid $20 my car is perfecly ok. These people are a total rip off. Don't trust these people at all. Always take second opinion.
Some places do that. You go in for an oil change, screw up your car to milk more money out of you. I would take it to a different shop and tell them what happened, and to check and see if anything was messed with. If so, you may be able to get the camera feed out of the shop and use it against them. Good luck.
failed to honor their work
My college-age daughter took her car to Midas in Fargo ND and had the front brakes and bearings replaced for over $700 not quite a year ago. Last October, she was having problems and took the car back to them. She was told that there was nothing wrong with the car.
This spring (before the one year warranty expired), she was having a lot of trouble with the car. She drove to the nearest mechanic, which was not Midas. He discovered that the front wheel bearing was destroyed, the brake rotor grooved beyond repair, and the brake pads where unserviceable. The mechanic would not allow the vehicle to leave the shop for there was fear that the wheel would fall off if driven.
My daughter called Midas in Fargo, ND and got the "You need to make an appointment" and "I can do anything until you bring me the car". Midas was informed that the car was not operable. Choosing safety over a few dollars, she chose to have the car repaired at the shop it was in and not use Midas. At no time did Midas offer any other solution other than "Bring us the car after you make an appointment".
Soon after the work was completed, she took the failed parts back to Midas in Fargo, ND. The supervisor asked why she didn't bring the car back. He was informed that the car was not safe to drive. He said she should have had it towed. She informed him that they had already spent $700 at Midas, $350 dollars at another shop, and didn't want a tow bill as well. The Midas manager stated that he would have paid the bill. My daughter then asked why he didn't bother to mention this earlier when she could have taken him up on his offer. He could not come up with a good reason. He also tried to tell her that the brake pads were still good and the rotor was still serviceable. He claimed he would only honor the warranty on the bearing and nothing else. My daughter has over $1, 000 in repair bills and he would only accept about $125 of the so called "warranty" that should have covered this issue.
The manager in the Fargo, ND is rude. He talks to women like they are *** and belittles them. Because of his behavior towards my daughter I addressed him myself. He could not come up with any satisfactory answers He comes up with solutions after it is too late to accept them. He uses cheap and substandard parts. He was asked to give us the name and number to his regional manager and he failed to do so. He was given every opportunity to make it right and he looked for a cheap way out. We are going to file a complaint with his regional supervisor and we are filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Do Not Use Midas in Fargo, ND!
Did this work for you? I am in nearly the exact same situation, a rude, arrogant manager of a local Midas, where I got shoddy work, and unacceptable terms for righting the situation... I am willing to take my problem as far as I can, but I would like to know if this worked, if you got anything out of it before it was all said and done. Thanks.
car repair
I went there for car check, i was so stressed because of private issues in my life, they thought i have something against them and instead fixing the car they unscrewd one of my plugs.I stoped the car at my place, the car freezed overnight and on the next day i could't start the engine.I needed two-three days to realize what's going on and to fix the plug back in place by myself.
They didn't like me and acted totaly as not professonals.I said nothing wrong i just was stressed under personal surcumstances.
I paid for nothing, and i paid again to buy tools and to fix what they DAMAGED.
That is service of professinals at MIDAS.

scare and attempt to sell repair services
I usually have my oil changes for both of our cars done by a Lube Stop place close-by. Usually takes 15-20 minutes, never had any problems. Now, I got one of those MIDAS-coupons for oil change, tire rotation, inspection etc. for $19. I went there, sat in their waiting room for over an hour and a half, finally, one of their guys comes out and asks in a weird way "Who did your last oil change? They overtightened the drain plug, it's all stripped, we can't get it off except by forcing it, but the thread might come out, and then, you oil pan is damaged, your car will be dead, it takes 45 days to get a new pan" blabla. They told me if I give them green light, they would try, but won't be liable is the thread goes bad, and my car would be dead. Hence, I told them to back off, and then called a friend of mine who is a car dealer, he told me "if the previous place really overtightened it, they are indeed responsible, just go to them and tell them to do the oil change, and if they tell you they can't do it, then you tell them it was them who messed up the plug (I still have the receipt, and their windshield sticker), and they need to fix it. OK, I went there, and everything was done without any problems in 10 minutes. Yes, they said the plug was a bit smooth, but they replaced it, and that was it.
Again, I had to learn the hard way that all those repair stores are nothing but ripoffs. The only other time I ever was in one of those stores (All Tune and Lube, even AAA-certified!) was to have a tune-up for $69. Well, while my car was there, they called me "we discovered this, and that, and this needs to be fixed, and the engine needs to be flushed, and there is a leak", the final bill was over $400, and they forgot to put back the hose clamp on the main cooling hose, which fortunately I caught myself. A friend who is a mechanic told me later "I could have done what they did and much more for 50 bucks.
Well, that was it today. From now on, I only let people whom I know personally do work on my cars. And our good old Lube Stop will do our oil changes, it might be a bit more expensive, but leaves me without worries. It is incredible in which shameless ways those garages deceive and rip off people, they lure them with those coupons, and then tell you all kind of scare stories, just to make you pay. I've had it with these guys!
did not change oil filter
I went to Midas for oil and filter change for my 2004 Lexus RX330. It appears that they did not change the oil filter at all. My car was only driven 1800 miles after the last oil/filter change so the oil was still quite clean but it's been 3 months so I took it to Midas for oil/filter change. They also recommended changing my engine air filter and cabin filter so I let them. They did not secure all the screws for the air filter housing. The "New air filter" appears dirty due to mechanic's dirty hands. I feel being cheated. Not going back there anymore.
never going back
You can never just take your car in for an oil change because they say they are booked all week, so you should make an appointment. So you make an appointment for an oil change and it takes 1 hour and 15 minutes just to do the oil change. And I see the mechanics literally just standing around. The waiting room area is so dirty! It is poorly managed and over priced. They are rude to women. When a man would come in they would respond right away and when women would come in including myself, they treated us with disrespect, like we were dumb. I may be women but I do know it DOES NOT TAKE 1 HOUR and 15 MIN TO DO AN OIL CHANGE WHEN I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT! NEVER TAKING MY CAR THERE AGAIN!
This shop is under new ownership. It no longer necessary to have an appointment for a oil change, the lobby is spotless with many new amenities, please give us another chance. You will not be disappointed. I am the new owner, I live in your community, my goal is to be the most trusted automotive facility in Roseville.
sales practices
Presented coupon for $19.99 oil change. During oil change the tech came out and said that I needed new brake pads and capilers, and I said I didn't want the service at this time. Then manager/owner came out and asked why I didn't want the brake job. I told him I didn't want the service at this time. He got abusive and belittling and said, 'what, you can't...

I brought my car in for a exhaust check. It sounded a bit noisy beneath the engine. The manager at the MIDAS in Bloomiongton, IL told me that I had had my pipes cut from a previous repair, and that they had been incorrectly welded/bonded back together but that I would need a entire new exhaust system to fix the issue. I said fine, because I'm trying to keep...

On the 16 Sept my dad found himself in a position where he was going to be hi jacked. He eventually braked the car with guys in it close to midas in landsdown road. Security officials helped him... Being in shock my dad ran toward midas... and wanted to get water to drink... ( heart Patient)... To his surprise the Staff of Midas, closed the doors in his face and didnt want to help him... not even pull him into the shop for safety! My advice to you all is dont go purchase anything at the store, cause when *** hits the fan, they will close the door in your face! He couldve been dead today...
do not want to replace faulty battery
I purchased a car battery from midas in bellville on the 17th january 2009 to the value of r550.8 months the battery appears to giving problems. It clearly states on the battery that it has a 12 months guarantee and not warranty! The sales person refused to replace or exchange it as according him 'it requires to be charged'. The sales guys reckoned that they could send the battery away to be charged but theres a waiting period (Take in on sat, return on tues). No loan battery but a simple and stupid suggestion that I must purchase a battery charger. They made an accusations that there is something wrong with car of which I have told the guys that the vehicle was tested and there was no issues. To my dissappointment, the battery was not replaced and its real poor service of the midas staff and as their policy!
Midas horrible experience with the car battery that didn't last me a month
messed up my car
Midas off of Kingshighway, Saint Louis, is in one word, unacceptable. They have no idea what they are doing and almost cost me 100s of dollars for replacement parts that I didn't need. Nevertheless, after shaking a mechanics hand and taking off in my car I broke down later that night. Needless to say my dad fixed my car, with a simple wire replacement (which they fried when changing my oil filter.)
I had brought my car in only for an oil change, and they tried charging me for a new starter, a new battery, and a new alternator. Not to limit myself as a female, but I'm pretty sure they were just taking advantage of me.
They said my connection would be activated withing 24 hours, but still my connection is pending due to verification
I had taken Idea postpaid connection offered by Neha "Executive Name" she told your connection would be activated within 24 hours but still my connection is in pending due to verification i often informed the executive "Pradeep" but he did not pay attention.
tried to make me buy a tire I did not even ask for!
I went to Midas because I needed to know if the valve on my tire needed to be fixed immediately or if it could wait and I'd bring it another day. They said "Sure, we'll have someone run out and look at it real quick ..."
Two hours later, I was still waiting for the info, and when I asked I was informed that they had THOUGHT they didn't have my tire in stock but fortunately found one ... and now I owed them about $180! I could not believe they had made me wait for two hours and then tried to stick me with a new tire that I never even asked for.
This is the second time I've gone there. The first time, after a simple oil change, they informed me that my car needed about $1200 in repairs. Don't go there; now my rear bumber is loose ...
Nothing good to say about this location. Had horrible experience here about a year ago when this Midas tried to install after market headers on my truck. In their multiple attempts to install the headers, which they never did correctly but still got paid, they did not properly reconnect my front drive shaft and it came loose potentially causing a major accident. I was rejected when i asked for my money back. Had to take my vehicle elsewhere for the job to be done correctly. I spent over $1, 000 at this location and they provided zero services. This location absolutely contradicts everything stated in this companies service pledge. I, nor anyone i know, will do business with this company in the future.
Fraudulent Business Practices
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I've tried for the last few weeks to work things out with Micahel Jasko at Midas on 2964 East Main Street in Mesa Arizona 85213. Here is what happened: My wife got one of those free oil change coupons and took it in to Midas. When we got there she called and said we needed new tires. Really, we didn't need new...

Or you need to be taught that if you go other places for oil changes that you can't blame one place for a drain plug issue. Metal on metal loosen and tighten over time will wear. Also learn how to tell the whole story! Did they just put a new oil pan on 6 months ago or did they change your oil last? You didn't go back to them for an oil change... So what is it? Just going to who has the best coupon? Ps standard oil change is 3 months/3000 miles.
