Mister Sparky Mister Sparky racket stole 10K from my 85 year old mother

We had one breaker that kept tripping and called Mister Sparky. By the time the salesman was finished looking at it he had my 85 year old mother and I convinced that the panels were fire hazards and should be replaced to the tune of 10,000 dollars. We paid to have this done, it took multiple calls to have them come finish the job that they left undone. Two weeks later we had a breaker that was burning more than twice the temperature that it is supposed to burn, creating a fire hazard and an AC that continued to go off with the breaker tripping. After multiple calls to Mister Sparky, the Branch Manager came out and after discussing all of the things that could be causing the problem that would cost more for us to fix, he found that at least one of the breakers was not screwed in all the way shich he fixed and the breaker stopped tripping. He also went to get a new breaker (why, when he said that one was the correct one I don't know), installed it and said someone would be back with the correct breaker when it was ordered and recieved. The new one came in and was brought and replaced. The other breaker that was burning hot was to the pool timer and pump which I advised the Branch Manager when he was there, he said it was fine. Now the pool pump is receiving no electricity and the timer literally burned up outside the house. This company clearly had an incompetent tech doing installation and after this experience I am wondering if we even needed to have the panels replaced at all. I think this is predatory business practice and cost us 10K we didn't even need to spend and now due to their substandard dangerous work we are still having problems and dangerous situation. I called them hours ago and am still awaiting a response even when I told them the timer burned up on the outside wall of the house. I suspect a lawsuit will have to be filed to be refunded so we can have the entire thing redone. Oh, and STILL no inspection, permit open after over a month. Beware of crooked tactics and BS sales pitches with this company and most of all substandard electrical work that can endager your home and your life.

Recommendation: DO NOT use this company, they are dangerous, fire hazards left and panels improperly installed. Very difficult to get responses in emergencies caused by their mistakes.

! WARNING! STAY AWAY FOR THIS BUSINESS!

CANNOT RECOMMEND: Strong Arm soliciting tactics under the guise of a "House electrical and security check" which was not asked for or desired. Actually very sickening how bad this was., not to mention at the expense of the customers time. Any company that does this usually has a broken moral compass and nerves not to be desired in this house.

STATUS: Job completed but, company is not welcome back for any future task. Nor any of it's affiliates.

PRICE & TASK: $1,401 for less than 1 hour of work to run 6 to 10 ft of cable, split to bath fan integrated light. (OVERPRICED).

Very knowledgeable and friendly tech (though much of it was an act for the company to get into your pockets), but I am not too crazy about the mr. Sparky business model. It seemed like we spent more time talking about other electrical scenarios that "could be worked on in the future" instead of what I ask a quote for. For the price I paid, I would rather have had some of my time back, as the day went way off course. Just kind of felt forced and after 20 years in the military i'm just not that person and would do anything to avoid that again in the future, especially when I have so many issues going on. The job for wire install to at the end of the day was done well no complaints although $1,400 just for a hour of work (i'm not lying). Daniel and brandon were great so, nothing on them but daniel did not leave much room to avoid the sales pitch and I felt some aggression when I wanted him to get to the point of what I called for. And be it a company model, it was sickening to see this young man have to go through this spill. In the process I missed a mail drop and appointment waiting for daniel to finish giving me sales I had no interest in. And as the day went on I tried not to talk or interrupt this guy so he could finish. I even cooked a full lunch and ate it because the day had to go on. Like I said, it seems to be the business model. I would give more stars but I have to be realistic. Update (05 mar 2024). If you do not want to be solicited to, do not use this company. Ive picked up on a pattern after their finance affiliate "goodleap" called and became irritated because I wanted to exercise my right not to hear anymore or let the verbal spill be completed. I don't need a friend. I don't need any offers. I don't need any favaors. Don't do me any favors. I want you to address the job I needed done and leave me alone, period. It should be an option and even to find out an option out is painful.. Diversion and verbal overhead. Can't even get a clear answer on, if they are military discount affiliated. Yes and no is respected universaly. Its all an angle for the next sell. Its sick how the angle is here. No means no and back off means back off. As I am doing more history, these guys are not going to change and probably will on say, "i'm sorry we did not meet your expectations". That is all they can say. They know who they are and what they are doing. They are probably out doing it to someone right now. I saw all these 5 star reviews and I wish I would have taken time to read more. It appears this is not the first case and will not be the last. Which begs to question, did some of these 5 star ratings get planted. And at this point, I would not be surprised. Thank god they are not selling used cars. I70 probably would be backed up right now with overpriced broken down shady vehicles. Look at the 5 star ratings. They have a lot to say if they get one. But let a complaint come fwd on here, and they basically say nothing, but they sure do have a lot to say when basically robbing you. Don't take my word for it, take some time and read through the reviews. Mr. Sparky used to be a reasonable company 2 years ago. They replaced an outdoor receptacle at a reasonable price. But the past two experiences will cause me to remove their phone number from my list. First, a circuit breaker for my pool heater: Sparky came out and said entire panel was bad and needed to be replaced for $11,000. I had another electrician replace the circuit breaker for $175. I reported this to Sparky management but received no response. Second, a pool timer needed to be replaced. I called Sparky and got a quote of $440 to replace timer, or $1,100 to replace timer and junction box. They did waive the visit fee. I called another electrician who replaced the timer for $125. I also tipped that electrician $20 for not ripping me off. Bottom line, Sparky lost a repeat customer by overpricing and by not responding to my complaint.

Mr sparkey are liars and thieves. They were a no call no show on Saturday after they texted a reminder confirmation on Friday. Then they never called Sunday. Got a call today, Monday, afternoon saying we had an appointment today. I don't believe them I scheduled someone else. It's over 90 in my house and fpl did their job. This is an hour jib at most. It's also costing me 3 more days of gas at 30 per day. How dare they call today and ask how I am. We were told at least 4 times Saturday they were coming. All these people lied. Liars.

Thumbs down with this company! They schedule an appointment with you and do not show up. I lost a whole days pay waiting for them to show up and they never showed ! They set a time frame and don't commit to this. I even called them twice to see if they were on their way and they still never showed. I got a bogus text from the tech he was on his way and this was 7 hours of waiting! CONSIDER NOT HIRING THIS COMPANY FOR ANY OF THEIR SERVICE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WAIST YOUR TIME!

Needed one or two outlets replaced, rather than actually DO anything the tech came out looked at ONE faulty outlet and told me I needed to re-wire my entire house, install new outlets through out my house, GFI protectors on all my outlets etc (no I dont - most outlets are less than a year old). All they tried to do was upsell me / finance a $7,000 job when all I needed was two new outlets (at most). When I said no, he left without completing ANY work and left me with a living room with no working outlets.

Mr. Sparky is a rip off and he should be arrested for what he can get away with outrageous prices he charges, I agree with ***. They sent a so called repair man to our house last week we were having circuit breaker problems, We needed 2 breakers replaced, First he talked about replacing our wiring for $10,000 then he wanted to add a surge protector which we already have one for $2000.00 I said ok all I want is the breakers replaced so he did then handed us a bill for $807.76 which I almost passed out. Before I ever would call Mr, Sparky again I would go with out power first, When I checked around after the fact I was told we were robbed with our eyes open. I don't have anything good to say about a business that sends repairmen to rip off decent elderly people, They are scum in my eyes/

This is the worst electrical contractor I have ever had the misfortune to come across. After multiple reschedules, *** finally shows up when it's raining and promptly tells me he won't be doing the work that day after his office told me he would. After I tell him what the job entails he begins to tell me what he wants to do. Who's the customer here?! The work was to change 2 bulbs on outside flood lights that I am not able to reach and add 2 post lamps. I had purchased all equipment. The cost is $12,000.00. This after he told me what other work was mandatory for him to complete before he could do what I called him out to do. Then he never even sent the estimate. I am an elderly woman and this is called larceny. Of course he offered financing. I tried to communicate with the company 3 more times and they are ignoring me. Not a way to get customers and keep them.

Tech was parked in front of my home for approx 10 minutes. He drove away without ringing my doorbell. I called the office & was told I would have to reschedule because tech was stuck on an emergency call & couldn't make it to my house. Very disappointed that I waited 4 hrs for no service then was told a lie. I had to provide a star to submit this but this company gets no stars from me

Manager sent someone back who was 1 and 1/2 hours late. He promised to put in the 2nd fan free because of the overcharge. Instead, the technician wanted $466 more. Expensive and dishonest.I would never recommend these bozos!

Hurricane related. Called sparky who installed my weather top 11 months ago. *** fixed power on Wednesday and I called for appointment got one for 3 days later saturday to put the pole back up box is fine. Its 10:17. I've called 3 times since 6 pm and they keep yelling me they are coming. It's an easy job. Box is fine. Just the stupid pole. I'm out of gas for generator. They just lie. I guess I'm supposed to believe they've been at the last job 3 hours. Just tell me the office over scheduled and u cant make it. You ripped me off 11 months ago anyway.

Had them come out to fix a switch in the bathroom and change a fuse which cost me $575. I'm 63 yr old female and feel I was taken advantage of by the Ocala Mister Sparky. When I questioned the cost I was told "it's not a handy man job". He looked for anything else he could charge me more and then pushed financing. No I don't need financing. Wanted to charge me $2400 to run electrical cord(replace) 400 feet. Almost 900 to fix outlet and switch in the back of house. Then wanted to look at my well and I told him not to touch it there was nothing wrong with it. Then wanted to go in my attic and no you don't need to. It started out for 2 small things about 1/2 HR. He spent about 2 hrs trying to see what else he could charge me for. Never again and will never recommend them. Called the office gave them the complaint and they were suppose to call back and of course they didn't. Be nice if they would adjust the bill to fit the work.

Poor communication, inability or unwillingness to diagnose issues, no customer management or lack of leadership, lack of pride in work or understanding of their duties. They made little to no attempt to schedule the city inspections they said they would. That's plural because they failed five times and acted like the city was being unreasonable for expecting them to know the codes. They can afford all those vans and employees because they overcharge insane amounts. Took six months to complete a three day job. Failed to do the actual services I requested when I called them out. Repeatedly made promises they couldn't keep.

Just avoid at all costs.

They charged $189.00 to come out. Any handyman would have found the burn marks at a socket first thing. In fact one did, but the tenant would not let him change the outlet, and called Mister Sparky in The Villages, FL. He ignored the burn marks and charged us an additional $349.00 in advance to find the "problem", and then changed the outlet. They make you pay in advance, so they can rip you off. If you get a chance to use Mister Sparky I suggest you don't.

I contacted Mister Sparky to fufill a minor repair to my electrical panel as per the inspection report from the buyer of my condo. Electrician was shown the inspection report and proceeded to work on the panel. However, electrician did far more work than needed and then charged me over $1600 for work I never asked for. I had no reason to question that he was just doing the work on the inspection report but he replaced all he breakers, etc although hat was not the job.

I have now been in touch 7 times, 5 by phone and 2 online chats, and the customer service team will not talk to me, or return my calls. I simply want a copy of the invoice for work they completed on my house the past month. Every time, I am told the customer service team is "not answering," once the because the office has closed (at 4:00 pm), once because they ALL were in a meeting and the other 5 times with no explanation. I would encourage people to think twice about using this company. Unprofessional, unresponsive.

Mister Sparky We had Mister Sparky Ft

We had Mister Sparky Ft. Myers location give us an estimate for an interlock system to hook up a portable generator. The technician told us we would need at least a 15kw generator. The estimate just to install the 50amp interlock system with us providing the generator was $1,381.20, If we purchased the generator from them the interlock with the Generac generator would be $10,293.20. The generator price on the manufacturer's website is $2,839.00 for the 15kw and $3,159 for their 17.5kw. The $10,239.20 price from Mister Sparky is to high when you take into consideration the interlock would be $1,381.20 plus a 15kw generator $2,839.00MSRP equals $4,220.20. The tech told us we could get smaller than 15kw portable generator, but that we would have to have a separate subpanel installed and that price would be $2,573.00 and there would also be a permit. We contacted other electricians and they said we would not need a separate subpanel and their estimate to install the interlock system is $650.

I had some work done and the technician Ben who did a good job. My husband thought the bill was vague and expensive.for 2.5 weeks I've been waiting for a "manager@ to call and give me a clearer, more itemized bill . No call yet! Going on three weeks.

Guys were great! Had a panel rewired snd moved less than a foot. Spent almost 5k to do so. Inspector shows up passes it and asks what I paid. When I told him, he said that was extremely high and I told him another company quoted me about 2 k, but couldn't get me in for almost 10 weeks. He told me for even them doing what they did was way too much.

Happy with the techs, knowing what I know now, not happy enough exorbitant amount paid. I kinda feel like I was taken advantage of because I have a broken back and neck along with a broken orbital socket and kinda needed power for for ice on and off every 20 minutes.

I even bought the yearly plan, which I doubt I'll ever need.

Mr. Sparky came to my home to install a digital timer in an outlet to replace an analog timer. First thing he does is want to walk through my house to see my circuit panel which he took pictures of then shook all the connections on my water heater...it became obvious he's trying to upsell me. He took almost FOUR hours to replace an installed timer with a new one...!...It didn't work and he had to reinstall it...then he was outside at an outlet taking THAT apart which he said had to do with the timer...he went to lunch for an hour and when he came back I said I needed the job finished...he did some cleaning up then started to leave when I pointed out that the exterior outlet was exposed and disassembled still ...a VERY dangerous situation. He put it back together but failed to connect the wires and not only doesn't it work but he failed to replace the insulation leaving the outlet box open to the elements ...STILL a very dangerous situation! I called and said I needed the job completed.and they scheduled for 5 days LATER to return... the day they were supposed to come they called and said they couldn't come. I am not satisfied...Want a refund.

I had to call an Electrician for emergency partial outage issue for our home on Friday around 5:30pm. Mister Sparky was willing to come out, but for $189.00 for emergency service, which I was ok and understood even though I thought it was a bit expensive. Then, the electrician came in about 2.5 hours later and quickly diagnosed the issue. He determined that it was the power company issue. He did not fix anything or replace any part, but charged me extra $333.00 and didn't even solve the issue. The total was $532 just to tell me to call Duke power company is way too much. Totally felt that I got taken advantage of and unexpected. Few hours later I ended up talking to the technicians from Duke company and they were as furious as I was about the charge. They told me that Mister Sparky always took advantage and over charged their customers. They are unprofessional and I should file a complaint with the ComplaintsBoard.com, which I am doing now. They also told me to call Duke company first next time after I check the power breakers and they will let me if I will need an electrician or not. It was truly a expensive lesson to learn and I will not use them again. So be aware before you make that call.

Mister Sparky We hired Mister Sparky in 2015 to install two (one on the main panel and one on the A/C condenser)whole-house surge protectors

We hired Mister Sparky in 2015 to install two (one on the main panel and one on the A/C condenser)whole-house surge protectors. Our understanding was that we were protected as written on Mister Sparky letterhead the devices were to "...protect all branch circuits from future power/lightening surge" and there was a "Lifetime warranty on surge protection". We experienced a power surge on 6/25 that hit our main panel and caused $5,691.77 in damages to various electronic devices and appliances in our home. Because of our warranty, we immediately called Mister Sparky. We talked to the Branch Manger who suggested that we contact the manufacturer of the surge protector with the assurance that Mister Sparky would try to make us "whole" after we tried that route. In the interim, we gave Mister Sparky two different jobs to do at a total cost of $1,313.00. (One job was to replace a damaged GFCI receptacle from the above-mentioned surge at a cost of $187.00!) We received less than half of our damages from the manufacturer of the device. In two different emails to the Branch Manager at Mister Sparky, we suggested settling our claim with them by the reinstallation of a new surge protector with no cost to us. We did not ask for money. The Branch Manager to this date has not given us the courtesy of a response.

The sales person was great at first. I was promised that the install of the panel and ground wire would be done the same time or next day due to the time of the day and how long it took. I signed off and then the next day I see they did not do the lighting ground wire. I called Mr Sparky and asked why and when? Simple right? I was told the manager Michael would call me back, never called me back for 5 days now . I called the sales person Mr B. and he said if it was his job (installing it) he would of done it the same day and that the installer Jesus should of done it. I spoke to the sales man one more time who told me he would try and get a hold of his manager because he has not been able to get a hold of him all day? When I called today again to get a time when the ground wire would be installed that had to go through Michael again? I asked for a email so I can show I have been trying to resolve this since Saturday? They can not give out a email address (Joe who answered the phone) only Michael can do that? Really?! They can not even give you a correct invoice? The only saving grace I have is if the sales man comes through and straights this all out or Grant the installation manager may be able to get it installed or some kind of communication from the manager Michael. I would never use or recommended them for any jobs! Seniors beware! Stay away!

My experience started great with a tech that was very friendly and seemed to be genuine.. Thought that was a good sign. After glancing at my electrical panel, told my husband "this isn't good." Ended up telling us that my bus bar was charred, that whatever the issue is can "travel down the bus bar and affect other breakers as well at any point" and told me if it were to hit the breaker that is linked to my AC that my AC would be toast (does that even make sense?). I financed the $4k they wanted to "replace my entire panel" and they were going to be back the very next morning by 8 to start the work. He encouraged us to not be home "because there will be no AC and that's not fun" or something to that affect. This type of work would require pulling a permit, HOW would you get a permit when it's now 8pm and it's needed by 8 the next morning? I called my uncle that morning and ended up canceling Mr.Sparky, THANK GOD. With two hours of my uncles expertise, we found the problem to be a SIGNLE LIGHT BULB! A $10 light bulb that was shorting out the breaker and making it pop almost costed my $4k. Spent $15 on new light bulbs, problem COMPLETELY FIXED. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with my panel, yet they wanted $4k because it HAD to be replaced. The tech told us "We do 2-3 a week." This is exactly how the company stays afloat, they rob people that are ignorant to the electrical system. HUGE thumbs down.

Needed quick service and they were able to come out right away. I did not know anything about this company and neglected to learn more before rushing them out to solve my problem. MISTAKE. Younger guy came out and spent a couple of hours searching for the problem but never was able to. Along the way he pointed out all kinds of problems by his account. I had agreed to spend up to $529 to have the problem diagnosed and repaired. He did say that if at any point the problem was bigger that he would stop and discus. He said if he had to run a wire or something. He had me thinking that I might have to spend another $100 or so. I needed to get this fixed and safely immediately, In the end, he said there was no other way but to do an entire rewire that would run about $5000. I said I would have to take some time to digest, discuss with my partner and get back to them ... all the while feeling something was really wrong with all this. I did not pay the service call amount which was $529. The young man got very angry and hauled out saying angry words then sped off. Summary: They gave me the impression that I would have to pay $529 to find and fix the problem. After spending time there, he built his case for a total rewire for just under $5000. I found someone I could trust a day later from LePro Electric who found the problem quickly and fixed for $150. I have been told that Mr. Sparky is well known for this practice. HORRIBLE!

Buyer beware. I just moved into a new home a year ago and called Mr Sparky because I found a receipt from the previous owner who had used this company for some work. My problem was that 6 separate outlets were not working. The tech who came to my home quickly determined that they were all on the same circuit. He presented me with three options: the best was replacing all the outlets for a cost of $3,600, the next option was over $2,000, the least expensive was over $800. I have never had an experience like this. The closest example I can give is a used car salesman or a time share agent. At one point, he even said, "We drove all the way down here." The more we talked, the more I realized I was being scammed. He asked what he could do to earn my business. I said I'd pay $200 for two outlets to be replaced, which he said would solve the problem. Even at that, I felt I was overpaying, but I was willing to pay just to get the work done. He declined to do the work at that price. Thank goodness! After he left, based on the information I gleaned from our conversation, I went into the garage and checked the GFI outlet that he was proposing to replace. I saw that the switch had been flipped; probably when a workman was here a while ago. I pushed the reset button and . . . guess what? All 6 outlets were working again! A credible electrician would have told me the problem as soon as he saw it, said "I'm sorry, but I'll have to charge you the $59 service fee" and be on his way. I've never been more disappointed in a company. And, Mr. Sparky, please don't ask me if I have talked to the management team. No, I have not. Nor do I care to. There is nothing to talk about.

Mister Sparky Feb. 18, 2022 Mr

Feb. 18, 2022 Mr. Sparky comes to the house to install a new electrical panel from fuses to breakers. We also previously discussed having a flood light on the carport moved and reinstalled with a new one and a smoke detectors installed. All this for $8000.00. Power company came and turned off electric at 10:00. The electrician told us the water heater had to be moved so the inspector could check out the panel. He proceeded to move it and in the process, broke a pipe on it. The inspector came and told them the panel placement would violate code and that he violated code touching the water heater without a plumbing license. Electrician said they would foot the cost of a reinstallation of the old one and if it didn't work, the purchase and installation of a new one. The electrician calls a plumber and makes and appointment for the next day. He doesn't inform us. We get a text from plumber that he is coming. So the panel had to go on the outside of the house to pass inspection. It is now 4pm. At 6pm electrician tells us he is tired and wants to leave. It is getting dark, it is hot. He tells us we can go to a hotel and give him the receipt to turn into the company. We do that, after going to 4 hotels we finally got a room. Next morning we go back to the house, power is on. Electrician was there until 3 am. Saturday, Feb. 19th plumber comes. He looks everything over and decides he has to install a new water heater. Cost $1400. He calls Mr. Sparky to tell them, they say no they will only pay $100 to reinstall the old one. We pay for the heater. Electrician says he will be here Monday to hook the electric up to it. So my Husband calls Mr. Sparky to get someone out Saturday afternoon so we can have hot water. Monday, electrician comes out to finish up. The flood light was not installed or the smoke detector. I want that deducted from my bill, plus $700.00 for the hot water heater to replace the one they broke, and $150.00 for spoiled food.

I contacted Mr. Sparky to install a 240 VAC 40 Amp outlet. The installer said I needed to have a new surge protection system (I currently have the Teco Zap system which he said was worthless) to protect not only the charger but the car. The installer indicated that my auto/homeowner insurance most likely would not cover any damage if I did not have the surge protection installed and my Kia warranty would also be negated' The quote for the outlet was about $475 and another $1500 for the surge protection and two wire grounding system. The printed quote was not as specific about the need as his fear based sales pitch. I was unable to find recommended requirements for Home Surge Protectors and Grounding Systems linked to home EV charging systems. The local Kia dealer has limited experience with the KIA EV6. ONE RESPONSE TO MY KIA BLOG: "Sounds like they want to sell you a whole house surge protection system for $2,000. That's about 4 to 5 times what it should cost. In addition, they're lying about your insurance not covering damage unless you have a surge protector, and they're lying about your KIA warranty being negated as well. Do a quick search on Amazon to see what a whole house surge protector costs, then add a few hundred dollars for installation (tops). A good whole house surge protector will afford you far more protection than a "zap cap", which sounds like a real money grab by your electric company. The bottom line is, you don't have to have either to enjoy your new car. If you feel whole house surge protection is warranted, a one time install of a whole house device will afford you with far more protection than any zap cap which costs $96 a year to lease."
In my case the statements about warranty and insurance were not true in my case. The Clipper Creek 240 VAC 40 Amp charger has a built in surge protector and GFI. The components for the Home Surge System at Amazon is less than $200. By the way I am 83 years old which may explain the sales approach!

I am 57 year-old homeowner and a single Mom with two jobs. I hired Mr. Sparky Tampa to move two light switch outlets down the wall a few inches, and to install one dedicated outlet for my existing bathroom tub. Initially, the salesman/serviceman who visited my home quoted me $5,000 to do the job ! When I heard that quote, I asked him to leave my home immediately, since I was insulted he would believe I would accept such a high price for this small job. He did not leave as requested, but instead proceeded to explain to me how much prices have gone up, how expensive materials were because of COVID and restrictions...he offered a reduced price of roughly $3,900 and told me they could offer "financing" in the form of separate checks that would be cashed in future months. Somehow he got me to agree, and the service man did the work the same day. After they left, I felt buyer's remorse. I asked around and found that I had been grossly overcharged for the services, even at the "reduced" price (should have been about an $800 job). I also talked to a lot of people who said they had been overcharged by Mr. Sparky as well. I contacted Mr. Sparky, via e-mail, and voiced my concerns. I asked that Mr. Sparky adjust my invoice to show that the $1,895 I already paid them be accepted as fair compensation and payment in full for the services. The manager declined to work with me to resolve it. I later learned that Mr. Sparky uses a check-cashing service so that anytime a customer pays with a check, they receive payment in full, leaving the check-cashing service to collect any money owed. Consequently, it is my opinion that Mr. Sparky has no incentive at all to be fair to their customers, since they get their money from the check cashing service. I am not a lawyer, but it is my opinion that Mr. Sparky is employing unfair business practices, grossly overcharging customers, and taking advantage of customers. I read the ComplaintsBoard.com comments and found that other customers had been overcharged and had scare tactics and other pressures used on them.

I will never ever contact this company again for a quote. I advise you to watch out and definitely comparatively shop around. In early July , i contacted Mr. Sparky to obtain a quote on completely redoing my Circuit Breaker Box (inside and outside) and installing a Transfer Switch for use of a generator during a power outage emergency. Mr. Sparky info was obtain through public search and/or i believe advertisement in that Coral Springs Business Guide. They were the first quote i obtained of 3 overall. The other 2 companies are quality rated reputable local companies as i believe Mr. Sparky was as well. I also believe they are listed on Angies list. Bottom line is thank god i am smart enough to obtain multiple quotes of at least 3+ companies. The written quote provided was literally 4x+ total more (apx $10k-20k range depending on unnecessary upgrades) of what their direct reputable competitors are charging for the exact same service. Even if they argue the quality of the part is better, the labor charges are way higher as well. Right away with the technician that came to my home i felt something was wrong. He kept advising multiple cross sell items before or during addressing the core reason why i called them. The price is way way way way past the definition of gauging in my opinion (after research) and i am surprised they are still in business in our community. I cannot speak to the end quality of their work because i would never let them near my home again even for another quote.. I guess they believe they are the Tesla or Lamborghini of electricians. That's ok except then maybe they should operate in neighborhoods with $5mm+ homes, mine is only worth 450k- $500m. We are just a normal middle class income demographic family. This is not a matter of being able to afford their prices, it is just way over price that is my only complaint. Especially when there are alternative options for reasonably priced reputable companies. He also kept being pushy to close the deal and cross selling their financing options which also made me feel uncomfortable. I advise caution and obtain a min 2nd opinion and WATCH !

Mister Sparky Like many others have already discussed, I have had it with this company!

Like many others have already discussed, I have had it with this company! I have waited and not written any reviews, with the hope that my situation would get resolved and I could walk away and simply not use Mister Sparky in the future. But, I am writing this review today because I would hate for anyone else to be in a similar situation in the future and I still have some outstanding issues that have not been resolved.

My first interaction with Mister Sparky began on October 17. I had just moved into a home in St Pete and wanted to upgrade my electrical panel so I could install a tankless water heater. When the salesman/technician arrived (Robert S.), I explained what I wanted and why I was getting a new panel. He wrote up an estimate to include both the new panel as well as adding some new can lights in my ceiling...including a switch to operate them. Although the quote sounded high, I went ahead and agreed to the work, signed the form and was told he would be back the next day to begin work.

The crew did arrive the next day to begin work, but this work did not get completed right away. The cans they installed failed (burnt out?) and the panel was never grounded properly. On November 19, Robert S. came back to my home to troubleshoot the problems with the first job and while he was here, I asked him for a quote to do some additional work. We had decided to remodel the kitchen and were going to need some under cabinet lighting, some additional outlets (to meet current codes) and another switch for the lights. I was told that they would tell me which kind of "cool" lights to buy on Amazon and they would simply install them for me. I did not get an estimate that day, nor did I sign the estimate at any point in time. When the estimate was finally emailed to me, I noticed that it was incorrect.

I am sad to say that today is July 1, and my relationship with Mister Sparky is still ongoing. I have multiple billing disputes and have even lodged a complaint with the company they use for credits/payments. The last time someone spoke with me about my billing questions, they told me they would need to check with Robert and would get back to me later in the week. That was a month ago. Today I was told that I need to speak with a supervisor and that person will call me within the next 48 hours. (By the way, this is the first time I've been given this person's name, I wonder what happened to the last person I was working with?)

In addition to billing problems, my original panel installation failed inspection. Mister Sparky needed to come back and ground the new panel, which they originally told me was part of my quote...but later told me they didn't need to do it and that my original grounding from 1971 would suffice. The inspector disagreed and when they looked up my permit, they found that the additional work for my kitchen remodel was never reported. So, 7 months later, I still cannot finish installing the back splash in my kitchen and I can't find anyone to tell me when I can move forward with that work. I also have a light switch they installed that doesn't work and the under-cabinet lights that Mister Sparky eventually chose (and they weren't the "cool" multicolored lights either), are flickering when using the dimmer switch.

I do want to point out two additional notes: Both jobs I hired Mister Sparky to do (in Oct & Nov 2019) should have been completed within a month or two, but when COVID-19 hit in March and my jobs were still unfinished, this timeline to complete these jobs stretched out even longer. The second note is that between Nov 2019 and March , the Mister Sparky location I had been working with was sold to the larger Mister Sparky Group. This has made following up on the "he said, she said" items very difficult and overly frustrating.

I have had some very considerate and devoted electricians into my home during this process...and I would invite Travis back into my home any day! But, the service and sheer length of time I've been working with this company to get my issues resolved is horrific and something I hope nobody else will ever experience.

I am disappointed with the quality of work, customer service and billing dispute problems with Mister Sparky. I hired Mr. Sparky on 10/17 to install a 200 amp panel so I could install a tank less water heater. On 11/19 I asked Mr. Sparky to update kitchen outlets and add under-cabinet lighting to my kitchen that was being remodeled. Work from Project #XXXXXXXX failed inspection in March . Over the past 8+ months, I continued to work with this company and have asked them multiple times to complete the work, adjust my invoice and return my calls. As of today, 7/03, I have five items that remain outstanding and in need of resolution. (See resolution section for details)

Had 10-year smoke detectors installed and later found out they were less than 5 years. We had new smoke detectors installed by Mr. Sparky when we moved to Florida. Several months ago we had an issue with one of them so we took it down and found that it was getting ready to expire. We called Mr. Sparky and had them come over. They replaced the faulty one (After a lot of back and forth); however, they refused to replace the others because it was "beyond their warranty period". How would we EVER have known they didn't install the correct item if we didn't have the issue. Also, the address on the receipt is: *** XXXXX - not the Bradenton location on the drop down list.

The average price ranges for the service they did is half of what they are trying to charge me for panel install. I feel I am being unfairly over charged for a panel install. Twice the national average. They sold me the top of the line and didnt give me any choices in what panel would be installed. It seemed weird that i was not given a written estimate but was just told to sign tablet with my finger. When he was going on about prices I didnt understand what i was getting or why the price was so high. I only have a small 100 feet house so I dont know why i would need such a large panel box. The work has been done already but the bill isnt even showing the discounts i told i would receive. The price is way too high. ITs twice amount it should be and again, Im pretty positive I did not need to be sold the top of the line panel box. Even the price of the surge protector is high. Im not sure these people are fair in pricing. It seems more like price gauging. I thought they seemed trustworthy so I did not question it but later decided to look up prices of work done and feel i am being way over charged and could have got a cheaper panel box installed.

Mister Sparky Failing to show up for final inspection 5 times, with a different excuse each time and no resolution

Failing to show up for final inspection 5 times, with a different excuse each time and no resolution. My electrical work was completed 3 months ago, but it was not until late January that I was contacted about getting the work inspected by the city of Miami. The first time my inspection was scheduled I was double booked with another customer and my inspection was canceled. I was rescheduled for the following day and the inspector showed up at 8 am, but no representative from Mister Sparky arrived, so the inspector left. The third time I was rescheduled, the permit runner had supposedly called out of work and no one contacted me to let me know. Fourth time, the permitting coordinator, Joselin Presswood, stated that she was sick the two after I had called to again reschedule and the inspection was never actually rescheduled because no one else could do this job. By this time it has been established that I am one of the first homes on the inspector's route and someone needs to be here right at 8 am. The fifth time I reschedule and get an email confirmation of my inspection, the inspector arrives promptly at 8 am, and STILL no Mister Sparky representative arrives. I called and spoke to Joselin, who stated she would have to reschedule AGAIN because the company was not aware that an actual technician is required to be on site instead of a permit runner. I find all of this to be completely unprofessional coming from a company that deals with inspections daily. The slogan on the Mister Sparky Florida website is "We're on time, you'll see, OR THE REPAIR IS FREE". The inspection process is part of the entire service, and after the now 6th time I will be missing a day of work to accommodate this company, I expect them to honor their promise. Please issue me my full refund for not being on time the first 5 times this inspection was scheduled.

Well, to start Mr sparky sent a salesman out to my house. He was very pushy and demanded that I had to pay $20000 to them. First of all mr sparky are very dishonest. A salesman came out to my house and demanded that it was going to cost $20 or more right from the start? I immediately became suspicious of his lying. Then he stated that he could do it for $9500 and I stated that their is NO way I was paying that much for the work that he said would be done! Then he went lower and stated that he would do it for $5500 which I stated I needed a paper invoice of the work. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY INVOICE AND NEVER GOT ONE TO THIS TIME OF WRITING. I told him that I needed to contact my family to help me fix this electrical problem he said was so bad? I called and he wrote up and invoice on his tablet and said he would email me right away for the so-called high priced work.. I called and spoke with my mother who gave him her credit card which was promptly denied. He wrote in $9200 that is why the card was denied. He then said he needed her debit card which again was denied. I still have received no receipt for the work or have I even gotten a bill stating what work that they did. I called them and spoke to a guy who stated he doesn't give invoices and that the work was $9200. Now it is April 25th and they kept the information on my moms credit/debit card and ran it again and which my mother did NOT authorize! She got her bank statment for the charges that went through after they ran it several times. The guy they sent out to give me an estimate, I told him where the circuit box was and came down a few minutes later just to watch him standing there doing nothing? I asked him what he was doing and he said he was adding up the charges of work that hadn't even been authorized. These people are VERY DISHONEST AND GREEDY AND VAGUE WHEN SPEAKING TO THEM. The man that did finally come out told me it would take 2 days it took them over 2 weeks and to this day I still haven't received a receipt, warranty or bill of the work that was done. I was here most of the time and he spent more time sitting in his truck on the phone then doing any work. The only thing he did was dig a small hole to the box for the inspector so that he could do just enough to pass! Now I am waiting for me meter to come from the power company and that will be May 1st. I am waiting. He cobble jobbed the electric by giving me an extension cord to bypass the bad circuits and wires that he was suppose to fix. Now I have a extension cord running from the dining room to the other end of the dining room to bypass the bad circuit. He never replaced any of the wiring or even attempted too! The extension cord was taped by him as it had open wires on it and he said he would be back to give me a new one? I asked to fix the wiring which at this time he never did. I had to call him several times to come back while he told me he would be here in the morning for 3 days in a row and never showed up. I waited for him as he told me he was coming in a hour and never showed up again. He showed up after 4 days to cobble job and screw around out back by sitting and drinking coke and smoking as I have camera in the back yard showing that he spent more time sitting than working. I am retired and living on a fixed income and can't afford these nasty mr sparky. When I called ask again for a receipt and invoice so I could approve the payment amount to him He stated,( I don't give out invoices and a break down of any and all work.) Now my mother has been charged illegally and she is over 80 and they totally took advantage of her and me! This business needs to be shut down for good and prosecuted for bad work and stealing money from the account without even being authorized.
