North American Van Lines Moving Company Destroyed and Stole my property while taking 3 weeks to Deliver!

North American charged me over $ 17,000.00 to move my belongings to Florida, which was not the contract price that Included Insurance. They not only took over 3 Weeks to deliver my belongings, they Destroyed much of my items and Stole many items. They then had an appraiser come and take photos for the Insurance claim of over $ 20,000.00 in Destroyed and Stolen items, and they sent me a Check for only $ 7100.00 Forcing me to Sue them for the rest of what is owed in Damages. This is North American's criminal Business, Damage and Steal, then pay Pennies on the Dollar to Settle. I am in the process of Suing this Company and would advise Everyone NOT to Hire this Moving Company, even with Insurance you are not secure or safe! I have been dealing with North American claims dept since June 2021 and still not reached a Fair Settlement!

Desired outcome: A Fair Settlement that will at least pay for Much More of my loss than the Ridiculous amount of $ 7100.00 I attached a Photo of how my belongings were shipped and delivered to me in the Trailer.

North American Van Lines Late delivery hotel costs, etc.

Delivery of goods were scheduled for February 5, 2022 and were delivered on February 6, 2022. At that time we were informed the delivery was a split load with the final delivery to done on February 9, 2022. This incurred a hotel stay from February 6, 2022 to February 9, 2022 which the moving company is refusing to reimburse to us.

18610 Worldwide Moving Systems, North American Servicing Agent.

Shipment # [protected]

The company has paid for us the lost and damaged items after several months but we still have the outstanding issue of the hotel reimbursement etc.

Desired outcome: Reimbursement of the hotel stay from February 6, 2022 through February 9, 2022.

We moved from St Stephen, NB to Claresholm, AB. Our salesman was Paul Coyle who works for All World Moving out of St John, NB. This salesman out and out lied and is a poor representation of the company. 1) Paul on several occasions told us that we could bring empty propane tanks and aerosol cans in our move. This is a lie. North American Van Lines Driver never picked my stuff up to move it

My things were picked up in oklahoma and I moved to pittsburgh. My stuff has not moved. It's been 10 days and the driver never picked up my things. Never. No one bothered to mention that there was an entire shipment waiting for pick-up, they just let it sit there until I started bugging them about delivery. Now they have no idea when it will get there and don't seem too concerned at all that this happened. No one has said the words "i'm sorry" to me. This is insane. I'm living on folding chairs and an air mattress and they just email me and say, the driver never picked up your things, we don't know what's going on but we're looking into it. These people are unreliable and untrustworthy.

North American Van Lines Do Not Use North American Van Lines - Scam!

I had an in-house estimate done for my cross-country move. I ended up moving far less stuff and was told in advance when I asked that it would be weighed and adjusted based on weight. My things arrived 10 days after they were supposed to, no one called me to inform me of that and I had to secretly dig through the driver's papers to see how much my load actually weighed. It weighed 1, 000 pounds less than estimated, but they still charged me full price the day of the move without my approval or authorization having lied and told me it was a "cash on delivery" move. Do not trust them! They are con artists and I am trying to fight this now with my credit card company. I should have been credited over $1000. I still do not have a receipt or any proof of what I have actually paid for. This is America?

North American Van Lines Moving fraud

They quoted a price of $2770 for a move from Oklahoma to California, then held our stuff hostage and demanded over $8160. When they finally (over a month later) delivered our stuff, lots was missing or broken. I had to get the DOT to get me a refund. Shady characters run this business, and they change names all the time. They are really running the business out of Haifa, Israel.

Avoid them at all costs!

North American Van Lines long distance move

After reading on line about rogue movers, I decided to hire a local moving company that was a representative of North American Van Lines, at a MUCH higher cost. Was told the difference was like a Cadillac to a Chec.. well not true
The local agent was great, however the driver and delivery were terrible. Much broken, much unethical, so DO NOT BE LEAD TO BELIEVE THAT USING A NATIONAL COMPANY equals great service as this is NOT true.
Paid the whole 6000.00 upfront for a move from Illinois to Calif, and it was a disaster from the time the truck pulled up to the time the truck delivered, and continues as we find more and more broken items.
Are they really different from someone that outsources, their local rep does not control what their corporate offices choose for drivers etc., , I do not know the answer, but it is NOT that a national company is a guarantee of quality because you pay more, it was not...

In July, 2022 North American Van Lines turned this much anticipated move from Georgia to Fort Myers, Fl into our worst nightmare. Our agent, John, was very polished and much like a slick, used car salesman in that he not only made promises that he did not keep, but later said he did not recall the conversation. The contents of our planned move covered a home over 4500 sq ft, and we were told the move would require several of their largest trucks. We were therefore shocked to see a much smaller truck arrive on moving day, one slightly larger than a u-haul truck. Several similar sized trucks followed over the next several days. We were lied to when our agent said the same drivers who left our home would drive directly to our new Fl home. This was also true, as we were NOT told that all our contents would be driven to and unloaded into a storage facility in Stone Mt. & then several days later reloaded unto another truck to go to Fl. After multiple lies and delays, and sleeping on the floor for 3 weeks, we were finally notified of our FL. delivery. Upon inspection, several items and boxes were missing. After much discussion, consultations & paperwork, we did not receive a satisfactory resolution from the company! We would discourage anyone from using North American Van Lines & we will NEVER use them again.

NOT TRUE! Upon inspection of our household items in June, 2022, our agent, John, assured us that a large & expensive ($750 plus) leaner mirror would be carefully crated to avoid breakage. Over the next several days, multiple trucks & numerous movers arrived with no knowledge of the need to carefully crate the mirror. The last time my husband & I saw this mirror was when a mover was carrying it out the door, wrapped only in a loose quilt. As with the previous movers on different days, he had no knowledge of instructions regarding special care for this item. Not surprisingly, the mirror was never delivered to our new home in Fl., and the company had no knowledge of its whereabouts. We don't know if it was stolen, broken & discarded, or delivered to someone else. When reminded about the special care he recommended for our mirror, our agent said he did not recall the item. This is absolutely true!

I have moved with North American Van Lines many times, and I also have working knowledge of the moving industry. This doesn't sound like a real scenario to me. The local agent does control the driver and delivery. Also, the national companies offered guaranteed coverage of your items, which you can choose to upgrade if you like. All agents recommend and inform the consumer that many items should not be shipped such as those cheap put together entertainment systems and many other cheap items. You dont go into any details as to why they are "unethical"? If you move there are good chances something will get broken, that is just a fact that applies to any moving company, especially if you move across the country.

My personal opinion is that you are probably one of these fly-by-night moving brokers that is trying to convince consumers that moving brokers are as good as the national moving companies like North American Van Lines. North American has been in business for decades and they stand behind every move, every agent.

North American Van Lines Customer Service

Absolutely the worst moving experience we have ever had! Since my company was paying for a small portion of the relocation expenses, I was forced to get quotes from several different moving companies - North American Van Lines (NAVL) was the lowest. But the old adage, "You get what you pay for, " is all too real for us after dealing with NAVL! To start off with, the NAVL rep who came to do the initial quote missed a piece of artwork that had to be "special crated" for the move. She also missed the same piece when she came 4 weeks later to do the final quote. We had two quotes done since we had gotten rid of some furniture between the first quote and the actual move, so NAVL insisted on a second walk-thru of the inventory in order to generate an accurate quote. When the 3rd party crating company came to crate the special, fragile items, they informed us that there were only 6 pieces that had been authorized for crating but there were 7 pieces that needed crating. We were told the 7th item could be crated but it would cost us an additional $50 COD for the crating. It was also going to be an additional $20 to uncrate this unauthorized item at the destination...unbelievable! Our moving day was set and we were told to expect a phone call 24-48 hours before the actual move day so that they could give us a window of time when the movers would be arriving for the move. That phone call never happened. On the eve of the move (which was a Sunday), I left our Customer Service Coordinator a voicemail, stating that I never got a phone call and I needed to know when the movers were going to show up. The next morning, 30 minutes before the movers arrived, our Customer Service Coordinator called us and said, "They are on the way!" Great - thanks for the advance notice...
The movers arrived and all three of them looked less than thrilled to be there. In greeting them, only one was wearing and actual "NAVL" shirt - the other two were wearing typical street clothes. I don't know if NAVL employees are required to represent NAVL with their clothing, but I let that minor fact go. These movers were uneducated, unmotivated and clearly uninterested in the task at hand. My pulse started to race as I knew we were about to engage in a HUGE mistake by putting the contents of our entire house into the hands of these three individuals. Two hours into the move, there was an assortment of boxes and a few pieces of furniture sporadically placed in our driveway, our neighbor's driveway and the patch of grass that separates the two townhouses. It looked like a neighborhood yard sale! Watching the movers walk around with the "deer in the headlights" look, it was clear that these guys had no organizational skills and clearly had no idea how they were going to pack our belongings into the van.
I watched in complete horror as our leather sofa and leather chair were "squeezed" through our front door completely unwrapped! I realize that some doorways are only so big and our leather chair is an overstuffed one - but it was brought in without any damage and should be brought out the same way. There wasn't one stitch of covering on the leather couch and chair when they were pushed through our doorway. I didn't even have the guts to inspect these pieces after they "popped" through the doorframe - I would leave the inspection for when they were delivered.
The rest of the move did not go any better, as there was absolutely NO CARE given to our belongings as they were removed from our home before being put into the van: Walls nicked, stairwells were scratched, door frames were gauged and dinged. And this was just in the house! We knew we would find damaged boxes and furniture when it was all delivered. These "professionals" treated our home and our belongings with not one ounce of care! In fact, we spent almost two hours after the van pulled away patching up gauges and dings in door frames, repainting walls that had been carelessly marked up and filling in dents and scratches in stairwells.
Our Customer Service Coordinator had informed us that on the date of the move, the driver would be able to give a pretty accurate date of when everything would be delivered. Before the van pulled away, we asked the driver when we might possibly expect our belongings to arrive at their destination. He responded, "I really can't tell you until I complete the delivery that is scheduled ahead of yours." I accepted his answer and asked if he would contact us throughout the journey to give us updates on his progress. He said, "Yes". In the next 7 days, we never heard from him once. On the 8th day, I took the initiative and contacted him and asked him where things stood with the delivery. He said he would be delivering in 2 days. He also asked if I could give him directions to our address from the city of his last delivery? "What?!?!" I hire a moving company and also have to provide directions to a destination that I have just moved to? I gave the drive the major highways and route #s to get him from point A to point B. On the morning of the delivery, the driver called again to say he was 18 miles away but needed detailed directions to get to our place. I asked him if he had a GPS and he responded, "No". I told him he might want to invest in one for the future, given the line of work he was in. He said, "Well, there is one in the truck, but it's not hooked up." I said he might want to get it hooked up soon. He also said, "And I don't know how to use it." C'mon! ANYONE who drives for a living (moving companies, chauffeurs, movers) should have a GPS - its 2009 for heaven sakes!
after 30 minutes, we finally managed to give him directions to get to our place. When they got out, only two guys were present. So...three guys to pack up a truck, but only two guys to unload it? I think there is a joke in there somewhere. Again, the movers appeared unmotivated and uninterested. The forecast for move-in day was a mixture of clouds and heavy showers, off and on, all day. Because of this, I knew we couldn't dilly dally - this unpacking HAD to go more smoothly than the pickup day. Realizing he did not have enough help for the unloading, he actually asked one of the residents in our building, who just happened to be walking by, if he could lend a hand for a little while and help them unload the van! He offered to pay the kid $40 and the kid agreed to help. I was completely in shock! I was grateful for the additional hand, but I did NOT hire NAVL to outsource help with unloading because they did not have enough help. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! On top of that, we realized it was taking a long time to get our belongings in once they were being removed off the van. My partner and I jumped into action and played "movers" for the next 5 hours! So not only were we paying NAVL to move us, but we, the customer, were also assisting with the physical labor of the move. If I had known all of this beforehand, I would have simply rented a U-Haul and done this entire move ourselves! We should've been inside checking off boxes and furniture as they were being brought in to ensure that everything had been delivered. Instead, we were assisting with the physical labor of unloading the van - a job that we had hired NAVL to do!
Finally, all of the belongings were in our new home, but not without damage: one leaning bookshelf was totally destroyed; our dining room table had a leg with a chunk off the wood that had been chipped off; two of the chairs from our dining room set had gauges and scratches on a couple of the legs; two small end tables (made of wood with glass tops) were wrapped together with nothing between the two and suffered scratches and gauges in their legs; a television stand arrived with a very badly scratched base...and that leather sofa and chair I mentioned earlier? Both arrived with scratches and scuffmarks on the arms and backs of them that are now permanent.
As were accounting for every box and piece of furniture, we realized that we were missing one dining room table leg and one of the slats that go to the frame of our platform bed. The driver ensured us that they must still be somewhere in the truck. We were told that they ended up unloading the truck "backwards" so some of the pieces that were packed together got separated as they were trying to organize the contents of the truck to be unloaded. What the heck does THAT mean? Clearly these guys need organizational skills! Ironically - every single box we personally packed for the move, and aside from one pilsner glass, everything WE packed arrived with NO breaks or damage
The movers offered to help us put the bed and the dining room table back together before leaving. Upon bringing the mattress into the bedroom to place on the bed frame, the small dolly they used to wheel the mattress in, "flipped" up when the mattress was pushed off from it and put a small dent into our newly painted hallway! When the dining room table was having its legs reattached, one of the movers (who probably weighs 230 lbs) actually used one of the legs as a brace to actually lifted himself off the ground and onto his feet! I was completely shocked! I could just picture that leg snapping in half from the weight of his body. The movers were about to leave before I stopped them. They were actually going to leave without us checking off each item on the invoice to make sure that it had been accounted for and delivered.
When they left, we were completely mortified - we have NEVER had a more unpleasant experience in our lives. Moving across country is stressful enough, but this experience was simply inexcusable and unprofessional.
The next day, I contacted our Customer Service Coordinator to begin the claims for the damaged items. She directed me to the online claim form. When I asked about other "Customer satisfaction compensation", I was told I would have to contact Customer Service at the headquarters. After being bounced around for 40 minutes from one NAVL representative to another, I was finally put in touch with a woman named Sandy Marlowe. I began discussing with Sandy the experience we had with NAVL, beyond the physical damages, and was looking for some type of compensation for the non-physical damages that we were put through (ie. the unprofessionalism of the experience, not enough help with the unloading, the physical that we personally performed, etc...). Sandy was unhelpful and said I would have to fill out the online claim form any physical damage that occurred. As far as any other type of compensation, "We would not get any. We don't give monetary compensation". I asked to speak with her direct report so that someone would listen to the experiences we encountered that we honestly felt were deserving of some type of compensation. Sandy flat out said, "NO." As the blood trickled down the back of my throat, I said, "Did you just say NO to a paying customer who asked to speak with your manager or supervisor?" She said, "Yes I did...there is nothing he can or will do for you." I asked Sandy for her full name and title. Sandy, turns out, is the direct assistant to the president of NAVL, Michael Wolf. I again asked to speak with Mr. Wolf and, again, Sandy refused to put me in touch with him. If the direct assistant to the President of my company EVER spoke to a customer the way Ms. Marlowe spoke to me, you can be damn sure he/she would be standing in the unemployment line. I have since begun the online claim for the damaged items, but after reading SEVERAL consumer reviews for NAVL, I am not confident that I will EVER see a dime! And as for the other compensation that I feel we are entitled to...I have since contacted my credit card company and I have disputed a portion of the moving charges. I figure at this point, disputing the charges might get the attention of someone other than Ms. Marlowe who will take the time to listen to a paying customer's legitimate complaints and work with them to resolve the issues...
NO ONE...I repeat...NO ONE should EVER hire North American Van Lines! I wouldn't hire them to move me across the street!

North American Van Lines Moving company rip off

Rainbow, agent of North American Van Lines, gave me a Guranteed price for moving my house hold from MA to MI last year. The quote was competitive out of the 6 mvoing companies I had considered. Part of the contract was to store my household items till I found my new home in MI. When the move took place Rainbow showed its true color; guranteed price quote was a ploy to get business, the actual bill of lading was a good 25 % higher. When I argued they simply started blaming North American Van Lines, the principal, for the revision and never got down to explain why they singed on a guaranteed quote. The sales person who is also a Senior Partner would not anwer emails or return calls to any questions except the customer relation kept threatening that if I don't agree to pay the revised freight bill which was a good $1500 more than the guranteed $5400.00 they would not move the goods. I was desperate having signed to take possession of the new house and I had no choice but to accept. Finally, when the appointment to deliver was made I had 48 hours to clean the carpet and move in to receive the goods and guess what the driver decided to turn one day earlier to the date of appointment and threatened to leave the things outside the new house if we don't allow them to be moved in. Rainbow never responded to my complaints, in fact, the customer service's friendly advise was to receive my goods from the driver, if not there will additinal storage charge. Our carpet cleaning went through the window to accomodate the unfriendly driver. Rainbow Movers is a rip off, unfriendliest and inconsiderate moving company one should be wary off. I had a good experianced with Allied Van Lines a few years back on a similar move and fully regret having chosen North American and Rainbow for my MI move.

Unfortunately, I can also relate to the above customer's horrible experience with NAVL. To begin with, these "professional" movers were anything but professional. Not only were they not wearing company logo shirts, but my husband observed them being paid cash while standing in our driveway. That confirmed my suspicions that these men were NOT trained "professional" movers; they were apparently local untrained men looking for odd jobs. In addition to their lack of interest in doing a good job, I observed them putting multi colored tracking stickers on "some" of the furniture that they were loading. When I pointed out that they did not label a particularly treasured antique accent table in front of me, this "professional" mover stated he had run out of labels, but that it was not necessary as he knew where it was going. On a side note, we never received this table, and after a search, NAVL could not locate it's whereabouts. It's apparent that it was either stolen or it was delivered to another NAVL customer.

During their final trip to load our goods, it began to rain and we were concerned about the boxes getting soaked outside on the truck's lift. Instead of offering to wait until the rain stopped, the movers threatened to leave & not complete the loading if I continued to complain. Consequently, after being soaked & placed in storage for several days, many boxes had partially deteriorated & ,were delivered in deplorable condition. Many had bottoms which had been partially taped to contain the contents. After multiple trucks in the span of several days, they finally finished loading everything. We were told they would be driving directly to our new home, but the contents were instead unloaded into a storage facility until they could locate drivers to deliver our furnishings. Totally unacceptable! Our delivery was finally scheduled after sleeping on the floor of our new home for 2 weeks . We were less than sympathetic to their excuses of trucks breaking down and difficulty locating drivers. In conclusion, while many of the boxes contained broken items, many of the "missing" boxes contained very expensive items which included jewelry, sets of heirloom sterling silver, fine china, antique porcelains, and small appliances such as mixers & food processors. We know for a fact that many boxes are often delivered to the wrong clients as we personally received 3 boxes which contained items that did not belong to us. When we called NAVL to report these items, they responded that it was impossible for this to happen. REALLY?

Had we read these reviews prior to hiring NAVL., we would have avoided this nightmare. Do not use this company!

I did business with North American Van Lines based on a guaranteed delivery date of the July 21, 2013. The information was picked up on July 9th in Chicago IL and the goods were to be delivered by the Happy Valley OR. I have called repeatedly to get status only yo learn each time that my goods remain in Indiana. Today I was informed that my goods will not ship until after my delivery window and will not be delivered until the 30th of July. The folks at the company have all politely informed me this is the best they can do. Wish I knew that going in, would have gone with someone else for sure. They did offer me their delayed delivery reimbursement for pots, pans, and aero bed to the tune of $800; however, I would have preferred that they kept their word. If you cannot live up to your guarantee, you should not call it a guarantee. Very disappointing. I wrote a letter to my state senator this morning, plan on making several posts to websites sharing my story, hitting other social media outlets, reached out to the Federal division responsible for oversight of moving companies (they have asked to continue to be looped to ensure my stuff gets delivered), and will highlight this to a few media outlets as well. Regulation of this industry needs to improve.

Rainbow Movers has been in business since 1918. They have an excellent reputation as an agent for North American Van Lines. If a customer is given a Guaranteed Price, neither Rainbow Movers or NAVL can legally charge more money as described above with a few exceptions. For example, if your Guaranteed Price was for a specific period of time for storage and you exceed that period, than yes you have to pay for the actual of amount of time you need storage. $16000 cross country total nightmare.

Every single piece of furniture either gouged or broken. Liquor and wine collection gone. Paintings gone . Kitchen stuff-expensive pots and pans and appliances gone. Boxes rifled through and antiques gone. We paid an extra thousand for insurance and have not collected a penny after 2 years.

We have paid dearly twice over of the mistake of using these horrible movers. They can easily post their own favorable reviews so beware.

North American Van Lines Stole money and alcohol from our home

We used North American Van Lines to move our belongings from North Carolina to Missouri. While the crew was packing our items they stole money and alcohol from our home. When they unpacked our items, our furniture was broken. They also broke our printer/plotter for self-employment use and deny it. There was an avalanche of 4 cubic feet by 4 cubic feet that fell on the truck driver and floor of the moving van. The moving claims department's reply was that the driver could have deliberately drove our contents off the mountain and they still would not claim it as their fault! Because of the standard insurance we purchased they will only pay by the pound and only selectively.

I could see if items broke due to our packing negligence it would not be covered. However, to deny items that were inventoried by the company prior to the move as not broken and arrive broken that is their negligence.

North American is simply a terrible company to do business with. Delivered the load late, the drivers and crew spend more time trying to hustle my family for tips then working. I can belive the condition of the load when delivered, they must have dropped it out oa a plane, Then they denied all damged claims. I had to chase them for a refund as they overestimated my load. Best to stay away. If you want to lose money, get a large dose of aggravation and feel like a doormat, use North American.
