1 year ago I responded to a notification that my Norton anti-virus protection was out of date by renewing it online. I was unhappy that I did it in the first place because the original package gave protection for 3 computers, whereas the package I recieved when I renewed it only did one computer. I had no intentions of doing it again, and now I have recived a $99.00 charge on my credit card with the following reciept; NORTON ANNUAL RENEWAL [protected] GB. I would like to be refunded the money as I have no intention of buying this product online ever again
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
I purchased Norton Antivirus in March this year after free trial on new computer had been OK. Purchased product has never worked, continually runs background tasks which slow down my computer to the almost unusable stage (I would love to know what tasks it is actually carrying out as if I try and actually do a scan it chugs away for an hour or so only to eventually tell me it is unable to complete any tasks!), meantime having prevented me from actually using my computer. I have just had to restore my computer to factory settings due a particularly vicious virus installed keystroke recognition on to my computer, by the time I realised what had happened it was necessary to cancel all my accounts. Despite several requests to Norton for assistance, they have been less than forthcoming. I am so angry at their attitude and total lack of customer care. I have asked for a refund (I actually think they should be responsible for the money taken out of my bank account as well, as, if their so called antivirus programme had worked this would not have happened). As yet have heard nothing, and on past experience am not expecting to. I would say to anyone thinking of installing Norton- DON'T! there a many much better systems out there, many of them free to download, do not get sucked into buying this rubbish.
norton took 44.99 pounds from my card details without authorisation and did not deliver any goods or services constantly evades emails and email conversations from obvious remote site with promises of phone calls but not delivering these people should be taught a very severe lesson and not be allowed to take money from the public i think they are most certainly crooks at least and should be jailed

You are such a [censored]bag. When you've bought a Norton Product.
You will see there at below the billing info that you will be enrolled in an Automatic renewal service unless you opt it out. Shame on you. I'm not on Norton's side but you Idiots should be wary of what you're purchasing. Take time to read. You consider yourselves as Diplomats yet you don't even have common sense.

Clever Norton (I have Norton 360 installed) pop-up telling you your computer has speed or driver issues (no security or privacy issues, obviously) and for $4.99 you'll get instructions to fix them or you can call an 888 number. Which I did. Got "Nero" on the phone and was clearly told for $19.99 he would have a REP get on my computer and fix the issues. Trevor got on my computer (I have no idea what he did) and then I completed a very complimentary survey. Later that day (4-3-13) received an "INVOICE" from Norton showing a charge of $89.98 on my Visa.
Many hours, 2 days and over 16 different REPS, I'M DONE...stick a fork in me...I'M DONE with Norton. Will NEVER purchase or recommend Norton products, EVER. Was unable to get a Norton REP to go to the "for quality assurance recording" tape to listen to exactly what Nero and my conversation consisted of, and whether or not "I was telling the truth" ! I might add I gave times, names, Case, Ticket and Confirmation numbers for the 2 day GAME they were playing. After up to a beyond an hours conversation with a REP they would transfer me to someone else "because they couldn't help me". Amazing, I climbed on my roof and screamed till the cows came home! Just got an email today from them about an "unresolved issue", are you kidding me?
I recently purchased a new computer for my husband at Best Buy. I mentioned that I already have a Norton 360 account and can install on three computers and have it only on the one we had owned up to then. When he got set up on the computer he noticed there was a free 30 day trial of Norton so we did not have to rush to get the 360 installed. Great news!
However, a few days before the end of the trial run, I went to install 360 and had issues. I contacted customer support at [protected]. I was directed to a call center and with someone that was extremely difficult to understand. He asked if I was on Windows 8 and he said that he had to remote to my computer and update Windows 8 and 360 to get it going. I gave him access but watched him and within a minute he said that the computer was already infected and that I had to take it to Best Buy or he could connect me to Microsoft who could "clean it" for $99.00. I told him there should not be any issues as we had already been covered during this time with their trial Norton coverage. He went around the statement and said that he could not install 360 until it was cleaned.
I asked again, why if NORTON themselves was covering it WHY would there be any issues. He ignored the question. So I asked, why cannot you just install 360 and have that program scan and clean it. He said he could not or I risk the whole computer crashing.
My husband came in at that point and I handed him the phone. He was wondering the same thing I was. He told them that if there are issues on the computer currently that NORTON needs to PAY for the cleaning as THEIR product did not protect it. After going a couple of rounds, the difficult-to-understand tech (identified via the login as Agent 8), admitted to my husband that the 30-day free trial was "just a marketing tool and does not actually work." At that point my husband was furious. Norton's trial program SAID we were COVERED and come to find out it is a SCAM!? And out of the mouths directly from their service department!?
My husband informed him that if they are going to make fraudulent claims of protection then aboslutely they need to pay for any issues as a result of their cliaming protection when they were not! I am understanding this to mean they KNOWINGLY defrauded the public. At this point, tech number Agent 8 hung up on my husband. We never once said any bad words, but were only insistent that if they stated they had our computer protected than they are liable if they are negligently decieiving the public and using this as a "marketing tool" that "does not actually work".
I saw another complaint on this website that had a similar situation. This is a SCAM and I think the public needs to be made aware of this. We are installing 360 regardless and then running a full system scan. After these a few other things we are going to do, we will see how it looks. We did try to contact another number given to us when we called back after being hung up (turns out this call center was some contracted third party Norton uses for their "customer service"). The number given to us was [protected] if anyoneelse needs it. We tried calling but were on hold for 20 minutes before we decided to see how things go and then try again. Either way - CONSUMER BEWARE!
An unauthorised auto payment for my Nortons Antivirus s/w had been paid against my Visa [protected]). And my antivirus s/w subscription has not been upated
Rang Nortons & now fixed
I bought a new laptop from Best Buy, it's a Tishiba Satellite. With the software was Norton, I tried the 30 free trial and after my computer's hard drive crashed after 27 days I was told from Norton the the free software that that software doesn't scan for viruses. So after Toshiba replaced the hard drive I bought Norton 360, so that I wouldn't have another problem. Yesterday I tried downloading Java and my computer crashed again. Norton support now says It's my fault because it didn't scan it first. So they want another $300 to fix it. Now I paid Norton to scan incoming downloads, it screwed up, my computer is infected, and I have to pay hundreds more to fix it?
payment taken from my account after i canelled automatic renewal [protected] please return payment forthwith
On 8/24/2014 I called for tech help at [protected] I spoke with Nick Smith . I wanted to purchase the anti virus Norton 360 when he got control of my computer he claimed the virus could not be installed if I didn't pay him $199.99 to clean up my computer . Once I refused he offered it for $100 I refused and then he offered the anti virus for $39 upon getting my computer cleaned up. I still refused so he stated you are going to have to pay someone else to do it. So as he continued to lie I started downloading a free version of a more expensive anti virus. When he seen the activity on my computer twice he stopped the download. I then went back and purchased the anti virus and was able to download it. I keep calling to make a complaint but for some reason he keeps answering the telephone. When I called to speak to a supervisor on 8/26/2014 nothing was done. So I made him aware that I will be posting a bad review.
