I requested a deferment on September 4th and was told by Nuvell to pay a $100 dollar fee. I was not told anything one way or the other if the deferment had been approved. Now I am being told to come up with 2 payment by November 5th or they are coming to pick up my truck. They are the most deceptive company I have ever had dealings with. Nuvell changed my account number also. Instead of telling the the truth that this new account number is because they are getting ready to pick my truck up, they lied to me and said that they were rearranging their company. Lies, Lies, Lies.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
It is a terrible company. I suppose they think that because they lend to sub-prime borrowers, they are somehow justified to treat us very poorly. Not only will I never again deal with Nuvell, I will never deal with any lender that is directly connected to GM/GMAC, simply because those companies endorse Nuvell.
I had requested payment deferment back in February of this year. I can't remember exactly what happened...but we had some unexpected expenses of some kind and I knew I wasn't going to be able to make my payment on time. Before the payment's due date even came, I contacted Nuvell to inform them of my situation and request deferment. The guy I spoke with was a complete horse's ###. He asked me why I'd be unable to make the payment; I told him; he very snarkily informed me that "the entire country is in an economic crisis, that's not a valid excuse." I talked to several different people throughout the course of about 20 days, and everyone told me something different. First I was told that you have to have made 6 timely payments to qualify for deferment; then I was told 12. They also tried to charge me a fee for deferring the payments, but nothing near $100, I think they wanted to charge me like $15 and I told them look, the problem here is that I HAVE NO MONEY. It was so infuriating, and so demeaning, the entire ordeal. I finally, FINALLY got a woman on the phone who was actually quite nice and sympathetic, and I felt sorry for her for having to work for such an awful company. I was told in the beginning that they couldn't defer my payment because it wasn't 30+ days late. ?!?!? Essentially, they want to be able to damage your credit further before they'll defer your payment. I finally wound up getting the payment deferred, but Christ it was an act of Congress to do so. I loathe and despise this company.
I'm currently a little behind on my payments; they're due on the 15th of each month, and last month I made Sept's payment on Oct 13th, and will be making Oct's payment on Nov 12th. I thought about calling to request another deferment so I can get back on an even keel, but I cringe at the thought of speaking with these people (most of whom are in another country and I can't understand to begin with). I swear I'd almost rather just have a mark on my credit report than call these people. And notice that you can't email them, you have to call.
But yes, they have horribly unscrupulous business practices. Way to go, federal regulations...way to go. Let's bail out some more banks, shall we?
