Paramount Acceptance Ongoing fees and Membership costs for VASA gym

I canceled a gym membership during 3-2020 due to the pandemic and avoiding possible disease transmission. Paramount Acceptance said the membership was cancelled and I would receive an email confirmation. The confirmation never came. I tried reaching someone again, but after being on hold for a long time and unable to reach anyone gave up. Meanwhile I have continued to receive monthly charges. When I disputed charges they said they had no record membership was cancelled and I never received an email promised. I went through many calls and emails over the last few days to get resolution. They finally agreed to reimburse $42.89 dollars of the roughly $203 paid. For some reason they agree to send a check for this annual amount, but will not agree to reimburse for the monthly charges. After pestering I received a email that membership was cancelled. Meanwhile I disputed several months of the $10 charge via my credit card and blocked payments since this membership was cancelled. I just received an additional charge from them of $50 which does not add up to the several months disputed by my credit card company.

Desired outcome: I want Paramount to not bill me for services and ideally to reimburse me for paid to them $203.54 for a service that was cancelled.

Paramount Acceptance continued unauthorized billing charges after I cancelled my gym membership

on 6/28 I emailed my gym, French Riviera Fitness, to close my account. I couldn't talk to anyone in-person (the actual location permanently closed)! I moved out of state and there is no French Riviera gym close to me. Paramount keeps trying to charge my credit card and is now auto-calling me.

I contacted them via chat to let them know to stop. I explained the situation and the agent told me that my apartment lease would not be acceptable as proof and I would have to have a mortgage, new license, utility or landline only bill, or a notarized letter on letterhead from an employer or Dean of College or University!

The rep also said that I can't cancel my account if the address in the contract is within 10 miles of a branch that didn't close. There isn't one! The next closest location was >10miles from my OLD address (on contract) and 1000's away from my new one.

I was told I could go to the East Memphis Athletic Club. (They apparently had a TEMPORARY "arrangement" with French Riviera after they closed, but the contract with which they are trying to screw me is between me and French Riviera, not some 3rd party that isn't even mentioned in the agreement!)

My bank won't be honoring any further charges from this company that also apparently has an 'F' rating on the BBB. If they try to send something to collections or make a derogatory statement on my credit record, I will gladly take legal action.

Paramount Acceptance gym membership

May 1, 2017 I cancelled my membership at VASA fitness Ogden Utah through their online system. I paid the required fee to cancel.
March 2018 I start recieving emails from Paramount acceptance stating that my card has been declined and they need me to provide them with my account number, preferably a checking account number.
The Vasa gym acct no. is different than my old one. They opened a new bogus account in my name.

Paramount Acceptance Personal training contract

Paramount Acceptance will not cancel my personal training contract even though I have submitted everything they have asked for. I've had my doctor send 2 notes stating to cease training / have permanent condition. It's one excuse after another! These people are 'thieves in the night'. They are giving French Riviera a bad name. Don't get 'burned' like I have. Stay away from French Riviera and hopefully they will have to close their doors.

Last year after all these years I paid maintance cost of five dollars it changed without notice just the cost went up. This I didn't sgin any other contract for I like it the way it was. that I agreed to. The contract was breached.

Thanks,

Paramount Acceptance Contract Scam

Over a year ago, I signed a month-to-month contract with Powerhouse Gym in Elk Grove, CA under the previous owners. After a few months time, I asked to terminate my contract with them, which they did with no hesitation. I filled out a brief letter at the counter stating my intent (which was required by the contract). The automatic payments stopped, and I thought that was the end of it.

Exactly one year later, there was a new owner of this Gym, Cedrick Washington, who hired Paramount Acceptance to manage finances for his business. Part of that business apparently was to review previous contracts and re-institute them. Suddenly, my old month-to-month contract, which was legally terminated last year, was resurrected into a YEAR-LONG contract and I started getting daily phone calls about why the dues weren't being paid.

No one cares to listen to my story about the contract termination, and I feel like I've been scammed by somebody's (intentional) accounting error. At any rate, the calls keep coming and I have been threatened with bad credit reporting and collections. More than a dozen calls to Mr. Washington went unanswered.

VERY bad business!
Daniel Long

Hey,

I am in the process of filing against Ced's Powerhouse in Small Claims court on the basis the them not honoring my contract. I signed a 1 year contract with Powerhouse gym before they turned into Ced's Powerhouse Gym. 2 months later, I go to the gym and they tell me they no longer honor old contracts. Ced says that he bought over "the gym, not the contracts."

According to your testimony, the fact that they pulled up your previously terminated contracts means that he did have buy the contracts. Therefore he must honor my contract. If he didn't buy them, the fact that he reactivated yours is against the law.

Either way, Cedric Washington has no right to do one or the other. I need your permission for this testimony.

Complaint Description: Breach of Contract for Conversion to a Lifetime Membership? About 20 years ago, the Tenn. state law concerning spa lifetime memberships was changed to pay a onetime conversion fee of $150 and $5 a year lifetime membership fee. In hopes of a French Riviera building close to where I live, I have continued to pay the nominal yearly fee...

Paramount Acceptance Bad service

I really feel that I am being taken advantage of and have no recourse of action. When I called in November 2008 I should have been asked where I was residing and then they could find out if I lived in the proximity of one of their gyms. Instead they have waited until February 2008 to bring this up to their advantage and want to keep us in the contract, and force us to pay $296.72 for a service we are not getting.

A horrible and deceptive company with nothing but profit in mind. THEY WILL SCREW YOU. REALLY. Their scam is simple: Make it impossible to cancel the contract. They lie on the phone. They lie to get you to sign up. They lie when they tell you how to end contract. They tell you to send cancel request to the wrong address(es). It is difficult to contact them...

Paramount Acceptance I hate this guys!

So 8 months ago i joined a World Gym in Idaho. On the contract i made i put that i only wanted my membership to last for 4 months. the representative at the gym said it was totally ok if i only wanted it for 4 months and that i was not bound to be a member for any other amount of time. I remember seeing on the contract that my membership was only going to last for 4 months so rightly i assumed that after 4 months i wouldn't have to pay anymore. a few months later i found out that i was still being billed for membership at world gym. this didn't make sense to me so i called up world gym and they referred me to paramount. After talkin to paramount i found out that they automatically renew your contract after the contract period is over. i, of course, didn't know about this. I asked what i had to do then in order to cancel my membership. I was told that once i send in a fax that notifies them of my cancellation that they would then cancel it. So i sent in a fax then called to verify that they had received they said that they did. I then asked if i wasn't going to be billed anymore. they then told me that i was still going to be billed for another 2 months because you're supposed to notify them 60 days in advance of when you want to have your membership cancelled. I HATE THESE GUYS! my membership was supposed to be cancelled after 4 months but they choose to instead to prolong it without even notifying me. I hope they burn in hell. All that these people have done is lie to me. NEVER get a membership with world gym or with any gym that is affiliated with paramount acceptance.

I canceled my membership with this company in April because I was moving. I made phone calls and was told I had to pay a sum to cancel my membership. This is normal. I moved but left my old bank account open to finalize other transactions. When I finally closed my account several months later I received a statement which showed that paramount had...
