Payment for cancellation.
I ask to cancel my account and now my bank got charge for something i didnt agree on. You guys should listen to people/ customer for what they want rather than outting them in the situation they’re not even aware. I mever been in the fym for almost 3 yrs.

No one there knows what the cancellation fee is, not even people at the head office in Calgary. I have an email from Sheri-Lyn Mahadev the
Supervisor at Compliance & Customer Service stating she does not know what the cancellation fee is. How is it possible that the supervisor of Customer Service has no clue what the cancellation fee is? I doubt that's the right answer, I have a strong suspicion it's a lie to keep customers from cancelling as opposed to being transparent with paying clients and letting them make informed decisions. World Health has such terrible business practice, it's appaling and no wonder it has not grown outside of Alberta. It's only a matter of time before this institution dissolved. And until then I advise anyone thinking of joining World Health to save your money and spend it somewhere more reputable and reliable.

Calgary police released a statement on facebook looking for one of your employees aka personal trainers on domest assult charges. Not only that but the felon is seen replying to every comment instead of turning himself in. Is this the kind of people you hire? Id like to see some background check and maybe some semblance of policy to ensure im not paying good money for a trainer thats currently wanted by policy. More than once in the past few months aka ongoing problem with him.

I became a Member well over 2 years ago. I had a personal Trainer, he left for better prospects. In the mean time my situation regarding time and the ability to attend diminished.
Mean while staff was calling multiple times a day while I am at work and extremely busy, to see who could pick up my remaining training sessions. I advised that I no longer had the time to commit and would just continue paying my fees until the end of the contract.
After my contract expired they continue to take my money. I called my gym and they advised me that a simple phone call should resolve this and I should be refunded. That was a lie.
At no point did anyone advise me that I could cancel with 30 days Notice and 99 dollars.
I called the 1 800 number today to advise them that 6 months after the end of my contract they are stealing from my bank account. At which point I was advised that I needed to submit in writing with 30 days notice to cancel a contract that expired 6 months ago.
This company ripped me off big time and I have contacted my lawyers. See you in court.
I wish I could give 0 stars for World Health in Edgemont. My family and I helped my dad sign up for World Health because we wanted him to work out with a certified trainer and be healthy. When signing up with World Health, we let them know that my dad has had knee problems and to be very gentle with the exercises that they choose for him. Well, within the first few sessions they had him doing exercises that injured him to the point that he could barely walk. My dad let World Health know right away that he would like to postpone his membership dues because he was injured, had a doctor's note, and was on the waiting list to get double knee surgery. After a few months (I believe 6 months), World Health started up the membership dues again even though my dad is still injured and waiting for his knee surgery. We have told World Health multiple times he cannot workout as he can barely walk, but they have continued to charge him and demand that he pay. They have now sent this to Collections, who have been constantly calling and requesting that my dad pay $900. That is $900 for membership dues after he notified World Health that he was injured and can't workout until after his knee surgery. Not only did World Health injure my dad, but they are sending collections after him for $900 in monthly dues even after he told them that he was injured. This is messed up, unfair, and simply shameful. I am going to pay the $900 on my dad's behalf to stop the harassment from World Health, but I wanted to inform the public of this terrible company. You have no ethics and have preyed on my dad, a crippled, senior citizen who just wanted to be in better shape that he could live longer and healthier.
cannot be trusted
August 2016, beginning of my term, I gave them the void cheque. Couple month later, they start calling me for banking information, saying the information they entered is invalid. I never change my bank info because my mortgage and all other monthly pre auth charge are on the same bank account. Apparently, they lost my cheque! So i told them i cannot trust them anymore, i will be paying cash! Uptill now, i never miss a single payment!
Today a lady called me again asking for banking information. I told her what happened. She said I have to provide the information again otherwise they will charge me $8 more biweekly for the statement.!
I asked her, "your employee lost the cheque I provided, or incorrectly entered info, whichever one, instead of going to your employee, you are going to the customer and try to charge the customer more?"
she said yes!
Totally disappointed! i never miss a single payment, and they lost the cheque! now turning back to get me more trouble!
I even just bought a 24 classes personal trainer session!
Now im being forced to cancel the gym with this BAD customer service!
This is a rediculous business! As a service industry, they do not customer sevice department!

Cancelled membership but they won't refund me even with a doctor's note
World Health on Macleod Trail is terrible (to say the least). I signed up for personal training. My trainer decided to leave and then was assigned another one (a terrible one at that). In the midst of it all, I put my back out. My doctor gave me a doctors note stating that I have to discontinue. I told them and they said they had to make a decision. Finally I asked what was going on and they said that they just launched a big promotion and that everything else was taking a back seat (which included me). They finally decided that I can cancel the membership; however, would not refund me any money even though they decided to sit on this for two months which shouldn't be my issue.
They are one of the worst corporations to deal with. I phoned head-office and they guy was extremely rude and curt with me and then actually hung-up on me. WOW...is all I can say to that.
I have no problem with paying for what I actually used...which was $700 of personal training...they in turn charged me over $2000 and said I'm pretty much out of luck.
How does a corporation get away with this crap? I can't imagine working for an organization such as this...and I'm an actual Personal Trainer myself.
More...as they wanted me to decide whether or not I wanted to use the Pt sessions that I got roped into paying for, they charged my credit card another $30. THen when I signed the cancellation papers, they had the nerve to ask me how I 'd like to take care of another $100.
Oh I should mention that about 2 weeks ago, they charged my credit card another $483. I was told that, that would be refunded; however, it's been almost a month now and no refund.
The corporation is all about money...they don't care about the people or the staff as far as I can tell...do not waste your money.
Keep with the community centres...such as Trico Centre or the YMCA...at least you're treated fairly and like you mean something.

I have very strong beliefs that any World Health establishment should represent just that; the respect of not only being healthy, but to have a healthy lifestyle.
I am more than just shocked and appalled that one of your staff, Alicia Wengrowich, is not mentally stable (she is on a high dosage of medication due to bi polar disorder; her not taking her highly dosed prescribed medication could cause irrational emotional outlashes from her), she is also a user of cocaine and her boyfriend is a cocaine dealer.
What I am trying to understand is how could a company with such high regards to health and fitness, have someone assisting with managing this location, who has such a low disregard for the health and safety of others? Why is it okay for a drug user who participates in drug dealing to be representing a health conscience company?
Unfortunately, I have discontinued being apart of Edgemont World Health, and out of due diligence for those I know who are apart of World Heath, have spread the word of mouth : the bottom line is you have someone involved with criminal activity and is not mentally fit to be associated with the public. The people who spend money on World Health, who have honest, healthy lives, deserve somebody who cares about their health; which is that World Health should be representing, not a medicated drug addict with drug dealing affiliations.

Serious fraud
After cancellation in December 2015, the staff promised that the cancellation has been processed and he will send me a copy of confirmation that day. But he did not email a copy of confirmation as promised. And have been charging fees for 8 months until August 2016. After confrontation with admin, they respond that they just don't know anything about it and refuse to make any amend.

I like to share our experience with everybody what happened to us at world health gym (4344 Macleod Trail SW, Calgary, AB T2G 0A4) in mid of October 2014. I (Parminder Singh) and my friend (Pulkit) went to this location in mid-October 2014 to join gym. There was an employee named Davin( I do not know how to spell Davin but it is the name what we told us) and he told us: "He is from states and his parents are from Philippines." He took us to one of the room adjacent to the reception. Now, he showed us several plans and deals going on at that time which is appreciable. Our plan said to pay 56.70$ for 15 days which was approximately half (28.35$) for the “regular gym” and half (28.35$) for the “trainer”. He told us that we could cancel the “trainer” after a month also and continuing our regular gym plan without paying any cancellation fee for the trainer. So, we would be paying only approximately (28.35$) after first month. We told him that we want to come for the gym on 1st November 2014. He said: “Ok no problem. Just give your credit card information, fill out some basic information on their form and sign it, then you are good to go." Then we filled our basic information like name etcetera, gave the credit card information and signed the document. Then, he gave us electronic card to swipe into the gym and showed us the gym around and that was the only day we entered into the area made to do work out from mid-October 2014 till today.
World health already started cutting my money from mid-October 2014 and we already told Davin that we would be coming from 1st November 2014. Then, we went to world health's location as soon as we came to know about money cut from my account from mid-October 2014. When we reached there, Davin was not there at that day but there was a guy (I do not remember his name but let me name him A just to avoid confusion) on the reception. We told him (A) that world health cut our money from mid of October 2014. But he (A) didn't co-operate and didn't listen to anything we were saying. Then we made our mind to cancel our plan and told him (A) to cancel our plan. Then the whole situation came forward. He (A) told us that if I needed to cancel the plan then I had to pay around 750$. We got astonished that how come that much amount of money to cancel the subscription. The reason he (A) told us that we took 2 plans at the same time: 1 is for "regular gym" and 1 for "training". If I cancel the "regular gym" plan, it will not cost much money but if I cancel the "training" plan with it also then it will cost around 750$ in total. The reason for paying more for the cancellation of "training" program was that the duration of training program was 1 year but Davin never told us that the duration of training program is 1 year. He only told us that just tell us month before you want to cancel your “regular gym” plan and no cancellation fee for cancelling the “training” program.
Then the guy (A) told my friend (Pulkit) that due to some technical issues, world health couldn’t cut his money from his credit card right from the first day that is mid-October 2014. We together signed their form but he (A) was like stuck with the point that only I(Parminder) had to pay around 750$ to cancel everything and my friend had nothing to pay because world health failed to cut money from my friend’s credit card account from the first day of our registration that is mid-October 2014 irrespective of the fact that we both signed their form (Signing their form didn’t make any difference because my friend (Pulkit) also signed that form including me but they never called him or asked him about paying the rest of the money for the subscription we both took together in mid-October 2014). I was wondering that why they keep on calling me now also and not my friend, about paying rest of the money for the subscription I never used: May be because they succeeded in cutting money from my credit card account only and not from my friend’s credit card. They already charged 434.25$ from my account and now they want more.
I wasted my 3 hours doing or writing this and if you keep calling me there is no issue, but if I get a single call from you guys now on, I do not know what happens.
Description of money cut from my account( according to 56.70$ per 15 days):
31 october 2014 - 120.75$ (period: 15 oct 2014 – 15 nov 2014)
14 November 2014 - 56.70$ (period: 15 nov 2014 – 30 nov 2014)
2 december 2014 - 56.70$ (period: 1 dec 2014 – 15 dec 2014)
9 Jan 2015 - 200.10$(period: not known, they cut it by their own statistics or no statistics)
The last payment they cut was 200$ on 9th januaury 2015. I do not know how they cut it. I already paid until 15 december 2014 and if I calculate from 15 december 2014 to 15 january 2015 it only makes (56.70 * 2 = 113.4) 113.4$.

I am Japanese guy. (Make sure you should know I was not good at speaking English.)
I contracted with them till the end of March but I decided to move into Toronto. This is why I had to cancel the contract and I asked my trainer to cancel it and He told me to pay 180 dollars for cancellation fee by Cash. And He said That's it. And I paid 180 dollars. This is why I got relieved and I left Calgary. But Actually He didn't fix my members information. And I just checked Visa card information the other day. It turned out that they keep charging me 80 dollars a month. (40 dollars every 2weeks) I called them today too. And totally 4 times to call. And all the time, they said "he is busy" and never speaking to me.
Also some people told me that they are coming back to me. But never come back.
180 dollars and for now 250 dollars, they stole from my Card. Totally 250+180= they took 430 dollars. And I think If i don't cancel it completely, they are supposed to charge till April. Could be they're going to steal 660 dollars totally.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP US we the people that cancelled any membership with this gym WORLD HEALTH are being victim of a fraud and THIEF even after having signed the cancellation fee. they continue stealing money from our credit cards. at the begining before signing any membership they said is not a contract so why they do that with the people is not fair. is against the law. instead of being World Health organization they are a company that don't care about people they only think in the money .so make people get sick . how much money they can steal from peoples credit cards. even without using the gym, ever after having cancelled the membership they continue taking out the money from people's bank account . WHAT HAPPENED is any organism in Alberta or authority that can stop that.

Same thing happened to me. Never go to that gym. First day, the guy took my signature on the form which was partially filled and had our signature, and told us that just tell month before cancelling everything. When we(me and my friend) went there to cancel the subscription, they showed us the form which was partially filled by me and partially by the other guy. They told us to pay full year money to cancel the subscription.
They will make it up that it was contract and continue stealing money. Biggest fraud.

I have been a member off and on with World Health Club since 2000. My company was paying for my gym membership and we are moving locations so our membership will expire at the end of this month, June 2011. I have broken my wrist and I still have 6 personal training sessions to use. I called them and asked what are we able to do I am unable to work out till August. I was told that to use my sessions in August I could pay $100 to use my sessions or walk away. The other option I have is use my sessions before the 30th. Because I am unwilling to pay 100 more dollars to use my $300 dollars of training and I am not willing to walk away I am forced to train with a broken wrist.
Way to go World Health you prompt healthy lifestyles what is healthy about forcing someone to work out with a broken bone?

Taking money from account after agreed termination of contract
Do not join World Health Club. They will continue to charge you after your contract has been terminated, even after being informed what they are doing is unlawful.
I left World Health Club in December 2010 and paid the agreed leaving fee. For some reason in April 2011, they commenced charging me again and have backdated the payments! The money just is extracted from your credit card without any notification. They also denied the amount of money I paid them was a leaving fee.
Currently in the process of raising a civil claim with them for their fraudulent actions.
Stay well clear of World Health. Do not sign anything they give you.
I can now confirm the issue has been resolved with world health at my expense. If you wish to terminate your contract with them, definitely request written proof when leaving. Eventually the company was ok to deal with during my issue with them.

Scammed Me Month After Month
World Health Club were charging me unknown charges on my pre-authorized credit card. I went in on Aug 06, 2010 and made a complaint and the administration rep refuse to fix the problem so I got fed up and I cancelled my membership. They require a 30 days notice so I said fine. The rep told me my cancellation will be back dated to Aug 1st and my final membership date is the 31st. Comes Sept 2nd, I got a another month of membership charged on my credit card. I went back in and they told me I have to pay another month because my billing cycle is on the 2nd so the system will start the 30 day notice on the 2nd of September. I asked to speak to a manger but ending talking with the assistant manager but he was even more ruder then the administration girl. I ask to speak to someone who is higher up but he refuses to give me this manager name and number. Then he tried to call security to escort me out because I demanded to speak with his manager's name. I told them that he doesn't have to call security and gave him one last sentence. "YOU CAN KEEP THE EXTRA MONTHS CHARGE AND SHOVE IT UP YOUR A$$ AS CHARITY BECAUSE PATHETIC PEOPLE LIKE YOU NEED IT. IT'S JUST POCKET CHANGE TO ME!"

Similar thing happened me. World Health Club are continuing to bill me after our agreed termination of our contract.
World Health Club are are behaving fraudulently. Anybody thinking joining a gym should consider a better option like Golds or Anytime Fitness.
Cancellation not being processed
They did grant a cancellation based upon moving, but then invented and demanded a cancellation fee. This cancellation fee was not even fully understood by their head office. They claimed it was GST. But a quick calculation shows that there is not way it was GST. That would have been 10 times what the contract was worth. So they continue to bill.
My advice is not to sign any contract with World Health. Look elsewhere for a fitness regime.
