Impact resistan windows
I built a new house in 2018 and all my windows and sliders are PGT Impact Resistant Low E glass. As time has gone by, more and more glass panes have begun to infiltrate moisture inside the glass. I reported the first three panes to their retailer and 3 new panes were sent, but it has been impossible to have them installed, and the retailer will not reinstall. After about 6 months 2 more panes have infiltrated, and today I found a fourth one. There could be more that I haven’t seen. I need the manufacturer to respond to this, as I am sure that in time more and more glass will be damaged.
Desired outcome: I would like to have all the windows replaced at no cost to me.
Stress crack in window
I replaced my house windows with PGT windows via costal supplies and multiple windows noted with stress cracks, they replaced the stress crack windows and only to find one of the replaced noted with same crack. At this point I'm questioning product quality and integrity. I'm presently thinking about bringing in the media to notify consumers. PGT market products as top notch, supreme quality but fails to meet expectations, I think this defraudment. Seeking urgent and precise resolution.
Desired outcome: Replace my window this is ongoing for 2 years.
Good luck dealing with non customer service and their inferior product
pgt windows
All my seals in my windows are dropping..has to be a manufacturer defect in the windows because all of them are dropping..I keep trying to contact pgt but get no response..I contacted another company and they said it would be 7500.00 to replace glass in windows it seems to me that a company such as pgt would want to send someone out to look into why there product is failing on 10 windows especially since how highly they speak on there products ..like I said I can see one window failing but not 10 windows..
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
Good luckmwith that, there was a class action lawsuit in 2020 dealing with their inferior products. One lies and they all back each other. Heard at one time they made a good product but now they control the market they are junk.

windows warranty
I ordered two large (impact resistant) fixed windows for my home in August, 2015. Approximately September, 2017 I noticed a water leak on my ceiling inside of my house. I contacted the contractor that installed the windows along with the roofer. Between the two of them they discovered that the leak was not due to installation of the windows or the roof leaking. What they detected was that the window was leaking between the glass of the window and the actual window frame.
At that point I contacted PGT to find out what I should do. They informed me that I must contact the dealer I purchased the windows from. I told them that the dealer did such a bad job that I would not work with them again. Also, the dealer that I purchased the windows from was no longer a PGT dealer. PGT told me I need to have a dealer look at the windows and the dealer would contact PGT directly. PGT said they would only come to the house for a period of one year after installation of the windows, after that, my problem must go through a dealer.
I contacted a couple of dealers. However, no one wanted to get involved with my problem. On October 27, 2017, one of the dealers told me that if I did not purchase the windows from them, they would not help. At that point I called back PGT and asked what I should do. PGT told me that it was hard to get dealers out to my area and that I could use any window repair company. The company that I would be using would then obtain the material(s) to fix the window, the material(s) would be supplied by PGT, however, I would have to pay labor and any other charges that the dealer said.
It has been two years since the windows were ordered and installed. A leak in the window after that short period of time should not occur. PGT warranty is advertised to be 10 years. However, a leak between the window glass and the window frame sounds to me as a manufacturing or product defect and should be covered under the warranty without payment. If a window can leak within a two year period, the warranty put out by PGT is only for one year and should not say 10 years. Leakage between the glass and the frame of the window should not occur that soon unless there is a problem with the window itself. Windows are purchased to let sun in and keep water out. I find it very difficult to believe that a window can be manufactured and it will leak after two years and it is my problem and not the manufacturer. Also the windows are argon gas filled. I am not sure now if that gas is still there.
It would be nice if PGT would step up to the plate and stand behind the windows that they manufacture. The strategy appears to be that after the one year you will pay to have your problem(s) on the windows resolved regardless of what caused the problem. If this is the case, it is one of the worst warranties around. Windows are expensive items and are not expected to leak after two years.
What I expect:
I would expect that this is a defect of the actual product and PGT should repair the window at their expense. The actual windows (not including installation) was a little over $8, 000. The cost of the actual windows are listed above but I do not know the installation costs. However, the cost was not cheap for two windows.
It is now February 1st and nothing has been done. One dealer and the PGT distributor came to the house and that is the last I have seen them. Window still leaks.
This is Margot Hummer replying. It says that this issue is resolved. NO IT IS NOT. My window still leaks and I am posting my message to the BBB about PGT below:
I received several calls from the PGT distributor in my area. He has tried to find a PGT dealer to come out to my house and look at the problem. At this point no one has come to my house. One dealer could only give me a two hour notice and I was not at home when he wanted to come. He said that he is booked for another four weeks. I spoke to the PGT distributor about what the dealer said and the distributor said he will try to get another dealer to my house and will also talk to PGT home office. Today is 12/19/17 and I have not heard back.
I explained to the PGT distributor that I have three things working against me here:
1. I do not have a PGT dealer that sold me the windows because they did such a bad job and also are no longer a PGT dealer.
2. Since I do not have a PGT dealer any other dealer does not want to handle a defective window or does not come to the area that my house is in.
3. PGT will only send their (PGT) repair people if it’s within one year of purchase. My windows are two years old. Since they are two years old, I have to use a dealer, which I don’t have.
My conversations with the PGT distributor have not been the best. He has told me that a leak in the window is not under warranty since there is no mention of leaks in the warranty document. I explained to him that the intent of a window is to let sunlight in and keep the weather out. I believe that a leak between the glass and the frame of the window should be covered under an implied warranty on the item. It is a defect in material and/or workmanship of the window.
The distributor also said that since the contractor put caulking on the glass to stop my ceiling from getting further damage, that the warranty is null and void. I mentioned to him that in the warranty document it states that PGT is not responsible for any damage done from their product. Since PGT is not responsible for fixing the ceiling from water damage, I have the right to protect the ceiling and stop the leak temporarily until the window is fixed the correct way. If I had waited for PGT to fix the windows my ceiling would have fallen down since the window is still not fixed.
Overall I am very dissatisfied with PGT and the treatment I have been getting. A two year old window should not leak between the glass and the frame and PGT should step up to the plate and fix the leak. Unfortunately the window is still not fixed. PGT says it has one of the best warranties for windows; however I beg to differ with them. I have been battling this issue for about three months now and there is no reason I should have to go through this. If PGT does not fix a leak in their windows what good are the windows and how good is their warranty?
I also have gotten the run around from PGT; Consumer Affairs. Our problem has been ongoing for two years. I gave all the paperwork on windows; receipts on purchases and I've had three different companies come out, via their recommendations. The latest of three different spokespersons, Ashley Mullins, does not return my calls. At one point, 08-13-21, I thought that I was making progress with Ashley when she contacted a company, Dovie Windows. Their integrity is just as poor as PGTs. Even after Kelly from Dovie Windows sent someone out to look at, document and take pictures of the damaged "warranted" windows two months ago, there has been no contact from her despite numerous calls and leaving messages. When we decided on purchasing PGT Windows and a slider, we were assured they were the best money could buy. The warranty was the deciding factor on our decision. The two companies that put in our windows are no longer in business. Thank goodness I kept all the reciepts but even with the proof of purchase it has been a horrible experience! Anyone for a class-action lawsuit?
Diane, count me in on a class action lawsuit. Just found out the second of my windows is leaking the same way. Destroyed some sheetrock, etc. Contact me if you decide. The PGT warranty is totally worthless and the customer support stinks.

hurricane impact windows and doors (under warranty)
Mr/Mrs Rosenkaimer. 454 Skylark Boulevard, Satellite Beach, FL 32937.
Customer #385 with FOUNTAIN WINDOWS AND DOORS, Cape Canaveral.
Original Install: Early 2008. 10 YEAR WARRANTY.
In 2008 I had hurricane protected windows and doors installed by a professional window/door contractor as part of the My Safe Florida Homes Program. PGT windows and doors were installed by this "certified" installer (FOUNTAIN WINDOWS AND DOORS, CAPE CANAVERAL).
Shortly after the install, the lock set of our French door/external, was not working properly and the installer repaired/replaced it. It was installed incorrectly. We paid for the parts and labor, even though it was within a few short months of installation.
Again, a few years later the lockset did not work, we could not close fully, nor lock the door. We tried to call FOUNTAIN, who did not answer any of our calls, although he was in business and advertising as such.
At the same time we noticed the glass in the door was cloudy and becoming cloudier. We were told by a neighbor that the e-gas in the door had leaked out, to call the manufacturer. We had a 10 year warranty.
We tried calling PGT and was told: 1) there were no repair technicians there that could help us; 2) they did not have a customer service dept., to call the installer.
We again called FOUNTAIN WINDOWS AND DOORS. No response. The warranty was still within 10 years at that time, and calls were initiated from 2013 through 2016. No response to countless messages.
In 2016 our situation became worse. The lockset would not allow us to completely close the door, not able to lock, and we were planning to visit family up north (PA) in April 2017. Plenty of time to fix by then.
Mr. Bruce Fountain finally came out to inspect door the first week in January, 2017. He said definitely the gas leaked out of the window of the exterior French door, and the lock set would have to be repaired or replaced. He would notify PGT of the warranty replacement on door. He took photos of both the lockset and door.
We have not heard from him since. We have called incessantly, left messages, and unfortunately, had to lock the back door with a bike cable chain to leave on our trip. We received no response.
In May 2017 a neighbor, who was a retired master locksmith took a look at our door and lock. He took the lock apart, told us it was basically installed incorrectly, which caused the lock to wear down and become disabled.
He ordered parts and installed them to repair the lock at our expense.
He contacted a PGT representative who told him that they were opening a claim for the gas leaked window, and that the window would be received through 84 Lumber and FOUNTAIN would install it. THAT WAS OVER 3 MONTHS AGO, AND NO WORD FROM FOUNTAIN OR PGT ABOUT THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT.
There was a conversation with PGT customer service this year with Ray Rosenkaimer. This was in 5/17 and he assured us this would be completed under warranty.

Window failure delaminating windows
We bought a house that had PGT impact windows in it . This was a big deal to me as a survivor of Andrew, jean and Wilma. After closing on the home we noticed more than one of the doors was developing cloudiness at bottom .
I called PGT and sent them photos and they told me this was delaminating . They also told there was no warranty none . Zip nada. I was not the original purchaser and the windows were allegedly installed by a nonnPGT dealer.
They offered m no recourse . So if you are buying a home with impact windows already installed that are PGT expect no recourse if they fail unless you are the original purchaser and have sales receipt and the windows were installed by one of their dealers . . These windows are less than 6 years old at the time of my complaint . I looked up on trade boss and noted several imports from China . I recently had a need to buy 5 new impact windows you can be assured that I didn't buy pgt.
