After numerous unproductive calls to the Magnavox Customer Support Line and as a last resort I have written a letter to Magnavox to demand a full refund for an LCD TV Magnavox LCD, Model: 32MF1D/37 Serial: BZ3A0609170320. I purchased this TV on 4/21/2006. The TV began having issues on 6/15/2006. The unit would not respond to the remote or to manual commands. The unit would turn off periodically by its self and/or the screen would go blank with the power remaining on. I have taken this TV to two separate repair shops. The TV sat in the first repair shop for a month and a half July 2nd thru September 1st, while Magnavox failed to ship the desired part, a CBA Sealer, to the authorized dealer. I then took the TV to a second repair shop, where the TV has currently been for a month and 1/2, hoping to have a better outcome. This repair shop is stating the same issue, that Magnavox has not sent the part. When I call Magnavox Customer Support I get absolutely no where. I have attempted to order the part myself directly from Magnavox and was turned away. Since Magnavox has stated they are unwilling to send me the part and for one reason or another Magnavox has been unable to send the part to the repair shop with in the 3 ½ months and counting I wrote a letter demanding a full refund. If I do not receive a response to resolve this issue I will be filing a claim in Florida against Magnavox in the amount of the TV. WARNING: Do not buy a Phillips/Magnavox product.

Just fixed a Philips/"Magnavox" labeled 19MF337B/27, that's a 19" LCD TV.
It had three bad (bulging) capacitors on the logic board. It seems very common. on this particular model you must replace C112, C117, & C118. They are all 1000uF rated at 10V, but you're better off with a higher voltage rating. I used the only ones I could find at RadioShack.
This fixed the on and off problem as well as random distortions and misalignment.
I would not be surprised if all models share this issue but do note that they won't be the same values or numbers, just look for the obviously bulging ones - some people even reported leaking...a disgusting and dangerous design flaw.
The manufacturers are crooks and I believe it is not just cost reduction but criminal planned obsolescence. So stick it to them and fix it yourself! I guess most would find that notion quaint...
I purchased a 37" lcd tv thats about 3 years old( to soon to be having trouble with). Now I have to spend about 20mins. for it to power on. The green power button lights up and some time flashes but no picture. Then maybe after numerous attempts it finally turns on.
i bought a 42 inch phillips and the same thing happened the tv would not read the remote but it would read the manuel buttons but i called phillips and i had a man come out and look at my tv and he changed a bunch of stuff inside the tv and it still didnt work so he told me to call them and tell them the part was on back order and when i told them that they offered to either give me my money back or ship me a new tv so i told them that my entire living room is phillips so if i switched tv they would loose all my business so they sent me another tv fedex and i sent my old one back
I have a 37in LCD i just purchased it 6/10/2010 and now it is just 8/20/2010, and i cant look at my tv because when i try to turn it on all it do is flash and it will not stop when i try to turn it off i can't there is on pic to look at or anything.when i try to turn it off i can't just just flash.i have to unpulg it to make it stop can someone tell me why is that. Then when i call trying to get my money back i can't they tell me that i have to pay $150 to get it fixed but it is under unsu.help me please
i bought a 47 inch tv my tv is doing the same thing i would like to file a complaint or get my money back to many people is having the same problems
I bought this same television one and a half years ago. It's always been super slow to turn on. A few weeks out of warranty I started having trouble with getting it to turn on at all and it has a horrible ring.
When I phoned the repair shop, I was told it would cost $55 to bring it in or $75 for him to come pick it up and then the $55 in addition to the power board that would be at least $250.
I've never been happy with the picture on this television and refuse to put over half the cost of purchasing a new one into it. The Sony I purchased for the bedroom has a much crisper picture, better sound - and turns on right away. Bonus... it turns on when you hit the power button!
Magnavox, come get your42' peice of MF [censor] out of my house. Good thing the GD thing broke, I could have been poisoned by the warm radiowaves. "No my house isn't settling, " that's the sound of my TV adjusting to the [censor]ed people at magnavox that assembled this junk. Imagine all the deadly mercury wasted and the thousands of TV's that need to be recalled. 6 months then [censored]canned. Then they want to send a stranger into my MF house to fix my set, and charge me even if it can't be fixed. You don't even get the picture in picture from these circus freaks at magnavox. hmm...Smart Very Smart way to rip off the hard working consumers. And target too, so full of bull [censor] you guys got bulls eyes
I also have all the problems listed here in this thread. I replaced the whole printed circuit board (pwpf942mr1p) for $50.00 from shopjimmy.com. They salvage TVs damaged in shipment and part them out. The PCB is new, so I am not sure what else to look for to replace on this POS. Customer service was sub-par. I made it very very clear to the person that I will never be buying anther Magnavox product again. She basically just let it roll off her back. She should just be happy she still has a job.
I bought a Magnavox 32MF23ID in June 2008 for our daughter's room. It was only tied to a VCR/DVD player and was only on for brief periods a week. I suspect it has the same number of operating hours as a normal household TV would have after 4 to 6 months. Last night my daughter said it wouldn't come on. When I remove the power and re-apply, the green power light comes on three times for about 2 seconds each. Now nothing happens (completely dead). My experience is the 3 flashes of the power light could be a fault code, but no reference to it in the owners guide. This message board is what I came across when I came looking for answers, and must say I am shocked that so many people have had this problem and no one from the better business bureau has gotten involved (or a class action law suit). Anyway, I told my wife that consumers have been led down a path. We have historically be accustomed to making a TV purchase once every decade. Now we are expected to make a purchase once per year (assuming you have more than one TV in your home). Somehow, consumers must bind together and send a message to the industry.
Bill Yea well i bought a 52 lcd hd tv for around 1300.00 and it lasted 5 months! and then i took it back to sams toget repaired becouse it just stoped working! and they called me and seid that i had to contact phillips ok so went to pick it up brought home and opend box and the lcd screen had a huge dent in it ! nice so i called sams and of course they denied everythind so i called phillips and they told me that it is not a manufacture defect so nothing could be done about it ? I told them that i took it there with a manufacture concern and this is what i got back ! They pretty much told me to bad ! So i asked to purchase a new screen and also looked on line for one and they told me that that has been a discontiued part ? The tv is only seven month old at this time and unable to get repaired ! How that for a 1300.00 kik in the balls ! philips and sams both can kiss my [censor] !

My Husband and I bought a 32 inch Magnavox alittle over a year ago.We went away for 4 Days, we unpluged the tv in case of a surge our TV would not be Damanged.Long and Behold when we got Home we Plugged our 32 inch Flatscreen MAGNAVOX in and it will not turn on.I Hope everyone who has Posted a Comment will call thier BBB in your Area and keep calling your Genral attorney for your State and everybody it takes to get our Money back and put Magnavoz OUT OF BUSINESS.TRUST ME ATTORNEY GENRAL OFFICE AND BBB will help all of us just keep calling and complaining. Please Pass this on to everyone you know.
We purchased this same TV (42" LCD -model# 42PFL3704D/F7, serial # YA1A0951014730) in January of 2010 and it has been nothing but problems ever since. We had Philips contact an independent repair company to repair it and it turns out that it too had the problem with the main board. They replaced it and the speaker assembly (due to crackling noise) and within days after the reapir it was doing the same "cutting out" thing. Philips said that the repair must be done twice before they can give us any options. The main board was replaced again the 2nd time by a different company and now not only had the "cutting out" problem, but the HDMI inputs 1 and 2 now do not work. Philips apologized and issued us a replacement TV... turns out that it was a "refurbished TV". This TV had a bent base bracket and sat crooked, was scratched up all over the frame of the TV and the back of the set was warped and scratched up as well... to make matters worse the TV now cuts out, make lines across the screen (both vertical and horizontal), makes loud popping noises, and turns itself off and on. Philips sent out another repair company and they diagnosed this unit with a blown capacitor and attempted to repair it by soldering a new one onto the board. Now the TV pauses, cuts out, get a frozen picture in color while also still showing live TV in black/ white/ grey and there is no audio at all on any of the 3 HDMI ports. We have had to again deal with an inferior replacement TV and were told that this TV also has a defective main board. Originally they told us that if the new unit had any problems that they would either give us a "BRAND NEW" unit or "REFUND" us our original purchase price. As of yesterday they have now back pedaled and are saying that this TV also needs to be repaired 2 times before the can give us any other option and have said that there is "No other option" and that they cannot authorize a refund. These calls have all been noted on a spread sheet along with dates and names of who we talk to as well as every time we talk to a repair company... we are now up to 78 calls since April of this year and have been dealing with the problems since new in January... it is now December 8th and has been almost 1 year exactly. We originally purchased a "NEW" TV and have now have had it and the "Replacement" TV repaired over and over again and are left with a used inferior product and are still waiting to get this resolved. To make matters worse they are taking their sweet time at resolving this and our 1 year warranty is almost up and we still have yet to get what we originally paid for... A QUALITY "NEW" TV. At this point we have lost all faith in the Philips product as well as their customer service and just want our money back so that we can go and buy a "QUALITY" TV set. -What is our recourse and how about some customer service recovery?
I also have a Magnavox 37" LCD TV which doesn't like to turn on. The only way to get it on is to continually punch a channel button (after the green light quits blinking) over and over. It might take 10 minutes but it will eventually turn on. Once you do get it on, the sound may quit suddenly. The only way to get the sound back is to change channels and then go back. I'll never buy a Magnavox again!
We purchased a magnavox tv about 4 years ago or so..Model 42MF521D It would shut off and turn back on itself I thought maybe it had something to do with the cable box it was hooked into then the other day it just shut off and will not power back on at all. Called Magnavox for help the recording asked if we have a warranty [we are not real sure] when my husband said not sure the recording basicly just disconnected the call. I am thinking we paid right around 799.00 for the tv to much for it to go bad in such a short time. We have tvs working that are much older then that and paid less money for them. Yes they should have a class action law suit against them when I am seeing that other people have been having the same issues. The Sheldon family [Indiana]
my magnavox tv model id number 19MFB/F7 keeps turning off and on at random times. Its only 1 year old. Im thinking of getting ride of it and getting a new tv like samsung or something else
purchased phillips 42" lcd tv in 2010, it just quit working around 6 month, called phillips had boards replaced by local approved service through phillips warranty, went 1+month without TV, 1 day after we got it back started having problems, still under warranty, every time I call phillips to see about having tv replaced they tell me 1 to 2 days I will get call back as they are looking into my complaint, every third day I call them back and get same crap. I would say the warranty is no good. Do not buy phillips products. If you can help e-mail: mcline001@stny.rr.com, would like to start clacc action suit.
Magnavox sucks red light of death came on 6 months after i bought it the repair man wants 325$ for to replace the power supply which i am not paying and throwin the [censor] box out.
We have a 42 inch LCD Philips. I got up one morning and the sound came on but no picture. I called the repair shop that I was told to call. A repairman came and took it apart and said that both the boards needed to be replaced and that he would get them and come back and change them. After several weeks, I contacted them about the TV, I was told that the TV would have to be brougjht to the shop which was in Pittsdburgh, PA. They came and picked it up. I would call and they would tell me that they hadn't got the part yet. A month and half later, I called Philips, a few minutes later the shop called and said they had the parts. they returned the TV. A few months later, it did the same thing again. We took it to a local shop. It worked for 1 1/2 years and then yesterday it did the same thing again. I googled, my TV has sound and no picture and was really surprised that so many people are having trouble with Philips. I would never buy another Philips product and would advise others not to buy them either. It looks like so many are unhappy with this product, that we should be able to do something.
What is the status of a recall on the philips 47pfl3602d/27 we are also having the same problems as other consumers and feel that we were robbed by the Philips company with no recorse not a good feeling.
jerryjackphotography@gmail.com e-mail with any help
We purchased a 47" Philips LCD for $1600, and bought the extended warranty. The screen started going black about 1 1/2 months ago, but it would occasionally turn back on. This week, when we turned on the tv, it shot out fire sparks from the bottom and had smoke billowing out of the top! We immediately unplugged and disconnected the tv. The Customer Service Reps apologized, but would only offer to fix the tv, of course, how can we be guaranteed that it is no longer a fire hazard? They did offer a refurbished one, but again, how can we be guaranteed that the refurbished tv is no longer a fire hazard either? The Reps refused to give me any of the information I asked for from them. The only contact info they would provide was po box for customer complaints.
I got a magnavox from walmart for $1200. i also had issues the TV stop working! walmart gave me magnavox phone #i did not get to talk to anyone! no one came to the phone! the problem never got resolved, i do not what to do! i need my money back or another TV.. these people needs to be taken to court

My husband and I also purchsed a 42 inch magnavox lcd a few years ago and the power button just flashes on and off, takes hours to get it to turn on etc. Sounds like the power supply and we are going to try and fix our selves, there is a pretty good video on you tube showing how to fix it for minimal cost, so we will try it! We have nothing to lose... I will make sure I tell all friends and family Magnavox is JUNK! Buyer beware! Glad I ran accross this site, my husband I are cracking up reading these posts because we thought we just got a "lemon", but sounds like that's all magnavox sells! lol
I bought it at a discounted rate through an internal company website(Philips). it worked excellent with wonderful color and horizontal speaker at the bottom is GREAT. I Loved this 37 inch TV so-much that when i relocated to INDIA, I packed this on my own( packers demanded lot of money).I bubble packed it and I put a cardboard on the screen(resting at edges not touching the screen to protect screen) and wrapped it in a Macy's comforter. finally putting it in the cardboard box supplied when i purchased this set. i added it as one of my belongings in the SHIP.(literally in a ship), i flown to India and collected it at the shipyard. bought one voltage converter ( from 220/110) attached it. I live in a high temperature area. So it used to switch off...then after cooling it starts again. I stopped using it for a month or so when i relocated to another part of the country where the temperatures are modest. I am using this set since 3 years here. Recently the problem started like the one mentioned above. it is taking long time to start...so i will replace this capacitor( thanks for giving that info) in the power supply( 2074). And I am pretty sure this is going to work for next several years...
Those who wants to contact me here is my email duttaluri@gmail.com...thank you and you all have a nice weekend.
well I didn't get the 1200 Uf 25 Volts, so i used both capacitors 2200 35 Volts... and also i didn't get the 105 degrees Celsius so only 85 Degrees Celsius. But it is working as usual., Switches on after a 5 seconds delay
Great help by those who posted all the details of this fix with the video!

hi I have a 47 inch LCD Magnavox that has been repaired 2x and now is black again does not turn on or off I bought it 2008 from Wal Mart and am now debating on whether to get it fixed it usually cost me around $300. to fix .I paid $1700.It has only been about 4 months since the last repair.I live on a fixed income/retired, I am very discouraged with this company and their products esp.after reading all the comments and how many people are having similar problems.mumphy160@aol.com
i have the same problem with my 32mf231d power on with no picture and no sound iam ready for a class action
I, too, am a victim of the Magnavox/Philips Television Family. In November, 2007, I purchased a Magnavox plasma television (50") from Sears in my home town. Approximately one year later the television would "click" upon pressing the power button. The blue/green light would blink and, as others said, nothing would happen. I made several telephone calls to Magavox but received no assistance. A repairman stated the replacement part costs over $600. At this point the television is a fixture in my den and does not work. I remember a time when Magnavox was a trusted name that was honored in America. Not anymore! I shall NEVER purchase another Magnvox/Phillips product. My advise to others is to purchase a television from a reputable company, not Magnavox/Philips. Let me know when the class action suit is started.

oh my I can't believe this... my power switch on my magnavox plasma that i have only had a year has stop coming on. iam so MAD
THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE... there should be a recall on this tv... Iam out of hundreds of dollars no tv. I purchased mine from sears. Iam going to contact sears and get them to take a look at the poor quality tv that they are selling. I would suggest everyone keep pushing for this to be solved with a fixed tv or refund.

Disappointed in my Magnavox, never buying another one -- same problems as already stated. Stupid me for not sticking with Sony, LG or Toshiba.
